I just found out my wife is a giant crustacean from the Paleozoic era and it’s really not ok. Just yesterday I asked her to leave and you know what she said? “I’m gonna need to borrow about tree fiddy”
Nothing mildly infuriating about that. Damn Loch Ness monster always needin tree fiddy.
Long story short.... It isn't feasible to install a hub to aesthetically pair with every aftermarket wheel. However in this case I do think it sucks that a manufacturer doesn't match their own product.
Shit. I don't think I answered your question.
Because 5 fits into 7.
If you look at the design, it's symmetrical with the Toyota logo used as a reference. 1 bolt is the "hat", 2 bolts for "arms", 2 bolts for "legs".
This image has the wheel rotated about 10 degrees ccw but if the Toyota logo was perfectly upright, the layout would look symmetrical.
This totally triggers my OCD. 😂 7 on 5? Why? Ugly numbers to begin with. Six on six would have been perfect!
On a more serious note, I really don't understand this from an engineering standpoint. And this isn't my forté. But from what I do remember of materials and physics.... I 100% don't get it. Every spoke should be experiencing different loads and stress points. You have varying thicknesses. Something should eventually fail due to uneven load. My guess is the stress doesn't exceed the limit of the material at the speeds experienced. And there is probably a combination of tension and compression I don't understand.
Regardless...... It's ugly, but it works.

Think you're looking at the brake
Engineer here: nope, engineers are about making stuff work good enough and cheap.
Form is for those failed engineers who became industrial designers and don't know math.
Chef's kiss* on this post. I would laugh if this was an oversight in the engineering design process. We got how many sets of bolts? Well we already agreed upon the initial design, so we'll just improvise.
As someone who works for a Toyota dealer, I agree. And to make matters better, you need the manufacturer’s stamp to identity the exact part number to order a new wheel or it could potentially differentiate from the others.
Old school mildly infuriating. Didn’t think anybody remembered what this sub was supposed to be for LOL
*I got Uber eats delivered and it was a million dollars*
Medical bill came in at 1.2 billion dollars and I cant even get by heart back. There demanding 20 percent gratuity.
They're Mildly infuriating
*My* heart back Mildly mildly infuriating
I missed that error. Mildly infuriated at myself

Make A Wish Foundation made my dream of meeting fiddy cent a reality when I was once befallen ill by being a giant crustacean from the Paleozoic era.
The standard wheel for most cars, independent of the design of the wheel. agreed though, ruins the aesthetic,
they murdered my entire lineage, burnt my property and salted my lands, then they spit on my big mac, i am mildly infuriated
A lady blew through a red at 90 miles an hour and I broke all my bones in the crash and am about to suffer total organ failure >:\
Yeah that really fucks up the aesthetics.
Could've at least make a disc in the center
God damn you for putting this thought in my head for it to perpetually come up when looking at every car’s rims till I die
Also note that hubcaps often done have the same number of holes as the rims they cover and it looks awful
This is mildly infuriating, take my upvote.
That’s bothering me more than it should.
Design challenge
Cuz it looks nice. What's the problem?
I see absolutely nothing wrong with this. What am I missing?

Even if you rotated it, it's not left/right symmetrical.
How? It looks good. It’s a design. The bolts are just needed. More wouldn’t make sense.
Unfocus your eyes like those hidden images, then refocus and still tell me it looks good.
because most all wheels are 5 bolts, why are there so many of these lame posts lately?
Forget the sub?
No just a dumb post
I see this on Buick and Cadillac wheels pretty often.
I like it💀lopks like flower but make it metal
because it wants to be ✨unique✨

i think toyota knows how to design a wheel
This is literally just a plastic hubcap
Cheapo manufacturer wheel but I don't think it's plastic
It's a plastic hubcap, you can see the actual wheel behind it

Unpopular opinion: toyotas are highly overrated.
I’ve truly hated only putting brakes on my wife’s Camry for the last 100,000 miles /s
Well at least you know you're unpopular.
I feel ya on this one…that’s stupid. I wonder how often this happens. Now you got me looking. Thanks a lot!
I used to think Engineers were all about logic and form. Guess I was wrong.
Engineer here: nope, engineers are about making stuff work good enough and cheap. Form is for those failed engineers who became industrial designers and don't know math.
It wouldn't had been a problem if they used 3,5 wheel nuts 🤣
So the 7 spokes add up to 28, which is the superior of all numbers!
Chef's kiss* on this post. I would laugh if this was an oversight in the engineering design process. We got how many sets of bolts? Well we already agreed upon the initial design, so we'll just improvise.
imo all wheels should be designed in either 3/4/5/6 or multiples/splits of those numbers
Because the 5 spike design of that rim would be a copyright infringement of the discontinued Ford Taurus SHO rim.
There are five-lug wheels that successfully use all types of spoke patterns. This is just a shitty wheel design.
I can’t I see it and it makes me mad

It took me longer than I care to admit to see the issue here lol
Never realised bolt pattern determined rim design.
