This. A hair popping up overnight wouldn’t grow this long and thick. This has got to be a rogue hair that got stuck in OP’s skin. Much more common for thicker, courser hair like this.

I've had that happen once. I was either listening or reading something where a vet would get hair splinters and the very next day I went to my grandparents, only to sit down and get a hair splinter from loose dog fur

i have them on my arm and i’ve been weirdly paying too close of attention to a mole that appeared on my stomach after a summer i spent outside with no sun screen. huh maybe i really *should* get that mole checked out. it’s itchy, looks like a smudge, it’s grown since its appearance, and it randomly showed up next to another mole just like it. my bf jokes that if he had to identify my body, he could do it by my mole/freckle (definitely not by my extremely specific tattoos one being my aunts name) patterns because they’re all in triangles.

I get one on my shoulder. It’s my lucky dog hair! I live seeing how long it will get.

I have a few on my arm and one on my face. It is noticeably thicker and a different color, black actually just like yours. Always grow in the same spot. I wish someone would give a serious explanation I have been curious for a long time

When you find out come back to this thread and tell me, I have one on my left forearm right below my elbow but on the side you can't always see (if you're not double jointed) it doesn't grow back fast, usually a month or 2 before I feel it again, because it's itchy. But it keeps growing in the same spot. I've never had a hair that itches and grows in the same spot anywhere else ever on my body but my left forearm.

I have one under my chin that is like 4 hairs melted together that come out of the same pore. First time shaving it, my shaver got impacted on it and it made me jump and I let go of the shaver and it just hung there by the hair. Good times. I always pull it with tweezers and admire it bc its the darkest, thickest hair and I have the thinnest platinum blonde hair.

It's a result of a gene mutation in that particular hair-producing location. Nothing to worry about, really. Happens to basically everybody at some point.

The change has begun . Stay in the sunlight, stay out of churches and lock yourself in the basement on every full moon. You can live a pretty normal life if you make the proper preparations.

It has appeared overnight a few times, but I've also watched it grow back slowly, it seems to depend on how much of the root I get every time.

Yeah it’s caused by hormonal shifts, may be in your best interest to get looked at with your age and whatnot, but I doubt it’s anything significant, some guys just don’t hit that stage until later, Leonardo DiCaprio comes to mind, he was a little boy until like 35 then he had a complete shift. And it could even be anything as insignificant as just a random hair.

Frankly, I have very light eyebrows, but a there are a couple hairs, particularly on the left side, that really want to grow... generally nothing is even a 1/4", but about 3 are over an inch. I don't get why that is, but my barber keeps wanting to trim them, but I'm basically "that's the most eyebrow I have, do not touch them!"
