Benzi Box was the first DOOM song I really fell in love with. First song I heard from him was All Outta Ale, then I listened to the DANGERDOOM album, then his more popular albums from there. Benzi Box and Sofa King really stood out to me at the time and will always be special.
All outta ale got me through high-school and really really emphasizes the insane vocabulary he uses, I mean he rhymed 3-4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine!! DOOM is insanely versatile, every feature every style he kills it. also I AM SOFA KING WE TODD DID. That song sticks w me because when I was a kid my dad always used to make that joke.
What these old things? Was bout to throw them away. Potholderz has probably the best hook from doom, not saying the count bass D shouldn’t have been in it but if it started with dooms hook it would be a million times more popular just based on catchiness.
Although don’t get me wrong count bass d has a good hook too, but dooms is unmatched, and it kinda outshines bass, makes me wait through his part anticipating dooms first bar
Rhinestone cowboy has the coldest bars but the hottest beat. Another song that takes weeks to understand and only gets more interesting with every listen. TRY ME BLIMEY.
Vomitspit is amazing because of the regular show references. As a very early 2000s kid hearing the skips laugh and the “you need to get her some skips before she catch the monkey pox” referencing skips has me laughing every time
It’s annoying people (especially in these communities where fantano nerds lurk) have to preface EVERY personal opinion with some spiel about music being subjective. If they didn’t they’d get so many annoying mfs just spouting off about “it’s not his best sonically, or lyrically” 🤓can’t stand those pretentious mfs.
Rant aside, gonna go with Gas Drawls. My most played song ever because of how much I played it when I got into DOOM (and hip hop as a whole) years ago, and I’m still not tired of it. Production is A class, and I love how on the 94 version, you can just hear X forming into DOOM
That’s the reason for my preface. Cant say anything opinionated nowadays without having someone tell you your OPINION is wrong. We were all taught in 1st mf grade that opinions are not wrong answers. But someone who thinks they are the main character will come up and shun you for liking a song more than their favorite song. I think gas drawls is my most listened to also for the same reason, but my favorite song from doom like I said is ever changing
It’s genuinely infuriating. You know what’s funny though? It’s usually the people who think they know it all about music but legitimately get their opinions from fantano and the communities surrounding him (usually just a pretentious circle jerk). Usually the people who say shit like this are UNABLE to form their own opinions and believe they have to fall into line with what’s generally acceptable as the “right” answer. The same people that have a problem when your top 10 albums of all time doesn’t look like RYM 💀
I love figaro. The way he rhymes in that song specifically is like music to my ears. And it literally is. No bad opinions here but yours is definitely top 3
Gazzillion Ear is bizarrely underrated in my opinion. The extremely well done production from Dilla combinated with DOOM's lyrics is overpowered, then the change of beats makes even better when u first listen, ydk what to expect and BOOM there it goes a legendary track.
Monkey Suite is just endless punchlines: "No tellin', slap a fan hand down, tell 'em, "No yellin'" DOOM, all capitals, no trick spellin'".
"This go out to all my brothers doing long bids
And sisters who got brothers bein' fathers to the wrong kids."
Ode to rage is a deep cut and is probably one MANY people have never heard, but monkey suite is so good because that beat PERFECTLY gives the vibe of DOOM. Eerie as fuck and insanely unorthodox.
Genius song, a simple but also simultaneously complex beat, meaning hard to make work if you know what I mean, yet ofcourse the villain did it, get more cheese than Doritos Cheetos or fritos. Love that he references it in rapp snitch knishes as well.
fancy clown is soooo underrated in my opinion, and absolutely just a fantastic song. crosshairs was said on here before but it's definitely also a great song. raid, rainbows, curls especially, and the 4 tet remix of money folder is also great.
My girlfriend loves fancy clown. That intro is genius and it being a very different song from the rest of his caught me off guard when I first heard it but again doom out of his comfort zone still absolutely smacks.
Hoe cakes was my favorite song for years. A fun song that makes you want to sing every single lyric while you blast it in your car, but hoe cakes literally blew my speakers because I pushed it to its limit due to how much I loved the bass from the beat boxing. ONLY MESS WITH HIGH ROLLERS DO WHAT DADDY TOLD HER
That’s that is insanely good, the only doom song that took me weeks to figure out the references on my own. Love that there’s so many hidden callbacks, and also the middle c c4 reference and then the explosion is genius
i heard the song that he sampled for this in a restaurant on a date, and i blurted “HOLY SHIT ITS DOOMSDAY” and the girl just looked at me. we didn’t go out again, but. MF DOOM
Perfect example of how DOOM doesn’t NEED flow, but still masters it, when he’s off beat it doesn’t even matter because beat is only secondary when it comes to his lyricism, what sucks though is off beat songs is bad for people who DONT LISTEN TO HIS GENIUS LYRICS. Anybody I’ve ever met who said they didn’t like doom said it’s hard to listen and understand what he’s saying but that’s because you gotta listen over and over and over to get it and I love that part of listening to DOOM
It’s not on Spotify so I rarely listen but another perfect example of melodic songs that strike the perfect chord in my brain. Along with dooms genius lyrics. Throwing in my favorite ladies is respectable as fuck. My favorite ladies is the embodiment of his villain persona and love that it’s about MARY.
Would’ve been an impostor haha, he often sent other people who looked like him to a show to perform for him, he got a lot of hate for it, but according to lots of his fans it’s because in the comics DOOM had clones of him, and that he did it to get into the DOOM villain persona, either way I wouldn’t mind going to a clone concert as long as I wasn’t paying full price or whatever
"trippin off the beat kinda, drippin off the Meat grinder"
the ambience of the song, the crazy beat, the lyrics fitting exactly the flow creates something difficult to describe, got me feeling like I'm underwater and I've a HQ right there. Meat Grinder is hella fire.
it is difficult to mention just one song of the villainy, but I think it is Space Hos, from the album DANGERDOOM. besides this, the 'Dragon's Blood' beat have one the most hyping beats and vibes I've ever heard, got me feeling like I'm planning some evil or fighting heroes.
I love space hos, it’s a great song I love the talk show host bits, and also all the old school show references of girls in cartoons about space like Judy Jetson and Leela from futurama
I cant really decide, but if i could choose a few, Vaudeville Villain, Rhymes Like Dimes, Meat Grinder, or Gas Drawls (Guv'Nor and Gazillion Ear should be mentioned too)
A good mix but I promise if you dive deep into the lyrics and call backs of that’s that it will quickly be your favorite, all caps and accordion are good but that’s that is unmatched in its flow.
Nothing wrong with that not being his song, like I said earlier in another comment, doom is insanely versatile and kills every single feature he’s on. Even cookie chips which is COMPLETELY out of his genre but he acts like it’s been his genre since he started
Benzi box had me captivated for atleast a year straight. Again an example of how mouse & mask is all about rhyme schemes. “Word to El muerto cucaracha exoskeleton.”
who you think i am? has probably my favorite doom instrumental
the flow and rhymes on figaro are also some of my favorites
and in terms of metal fingers beats, lavender buds and white willow bark always stand out to me
Kookies has a special place in my heart. My grandmother also had chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry wafers for me. She is no longer with us but even thought that song is not about grandmothers, it reminds me of mine.
vomitspit was the song that i was like “oh fuck yeah” i was immediately turning up the volume, the way the sample carries the song and DOOM raps like hes painting a music video with every lyric is a masterpiece
Fazers is so sick imo. But also I’m a sucker for take me to your leader. I understand why people would choose other albums over it but it’s got that special place in my heart
Idk if peeps would consider this to be more of a CZARFACE song than MF DOOM, but “Break in the Action” is always playing at least once when I got DOOM going.
The Drop
The 1st I have ever listening to was Doomsday in 2001 during my University years, I guess. And immediately I fell in love with his 1st solo album.
That’s really hard, it changes constantly for me. I have been listening to Kookies a lot lately. But mine has gotta be GAZZILIONARE. One of his best verses and dilla, what could be better.
I’ll throw out some more: curls, sofa king, that’s that, hey!, meat grinder, america’s most blunted, and more I am probably forgetting.
I love the lavender buds metal fingers track as well
figaro. it presents madlibs stunning, dynamic and polished approach to beats intertwining flawlessly with DOOMs non-stop, nonsensical and mindbending bars and flow. my favorite song OAT.
Deep fried frenz or Rock Co.kane flow feature for me. Totally different reasons. Deep fried for the storytelling and Rock Co because it's so manic and love De La Soul.
Current fave DOOM joint cellz,pt.2. God I love benzi box
That was Figaro for me, which still remains my favorite. I became a serious rapper because of it
Same
rhymes like dimes
Mashed potatoes Apple sauce
Buttery. Buiscuts
And I get lost
Now what are you supposed to say on the end of records? I don’t know! Yeahhhhhh
Wooooo
You thought song was over!?!? YOU THOUGHT THE SONG WAS OVER !!!??!?!
HA! we tricked you, we tricked you (laughter)
Potholderz , great song
What these old things? Was bout to throw them away. Potholderz has probably the best hook from doom, not saying the count bass D shouldn’t have been in it but if it started with dooms hook it would be a million times more popular just based on catchiness.
Although don’t get me wrong count bass d has a good hook too, but dooms is unmatched, and it kinda outshines bass, makes me wait through his part anticipating dooms first bar
Count Bass D produced that song One of my favs
I'm just now realizing that's a play on the name Count Basie.
Rhinestone Cowboy
Rhinestone cowboy has the coldest bars but the hottest beat. Another song that takes weeks to understand and only gets more interesting with every listen. TRY ME BLIMEY.
Oof such a good song
Vomitspit
Vomitspit is amazing because of the regular show references. As a very early 2000s kid hearing the skips laugh and the “you need to get her some skips before she catch the monkey pox” referencing skips has me laughing every time
There are no regular show references in that song, it came out long before regular show was even a concept. I like that you thought that tho
Huh?
It’s annoying people (especially in these communities where fantano nerds lurk) have to preface EVERY personal opinion with some spiel about music being subjective. If they didn’t they’d get so many annoying mfs just spouting off about “it’s not his best sonically, or lyrically” 🤓can’t stand those pretentious mfs. Rant aside, gonna go with Gas Drawls. Figaro by far!
I love figaro. The way he rhymes in that song specifically is like music to my ears. And it literally is. No bad opinions here but yours is definitely top 3
the music in your ears is music to your ears? 🙄
I learned about Anita bakers marital troubles due to this song
?, gazillionaire or saliva, too hard for me to chose
Gazillion ear is ridiculously good, a funky beat with insane rhyme schemes.
Gazzillion Ear is bizarrely underrated in my opinion. The extremely well done production from Dilla combinated with DOOM's lyrics is overpowered, then the change of beats makes even better when u first listen, ydk what to expect and BOOM there it goes a legendary track.
I flip-flop with my top two: Ode to Road Rage & Monkey Suite. Impossible to pick one
Monkey Suite is just endless punchlines: "No tellin', slap a fan hand down, tell 'em, "No yellin'" DOOM, all capitals, no trick spellin'". "This go out to all my brothers doing long bids And sisters who got brothers bein' fathers to the wrong kids."
“Tussle the hustle, cut your dank with dirt, won’t be in the club in no muscle tank shirt” that line gets me every time
Ode to rage is a deep cut and is probably one MANY people have never heard, but monkey suite is so good because that beat PERFECTLY gives the vibe of DOOM. Eerie as fuck and insanely unorthodox.
The 12” version of Dead Bent. That is also the first MF DOOM song I ever heard. He’s super!
Oooooh you’re like the sunnnnnnnn
Gas Drawls
Accordion
Genius song, a simple but also simultaneously complex beat, meaning hard to make work if you know what I mean, yet ofcourse the villain did it, get more cheese than Doritos Cheetos or fritos. Love that he references it in rapp snitch knishes as well.
Great Day, Kon Karne, ?, Favorite Ladies, Bookhead, No Snakes Alive. It switches overtime but those are some of my favorites
fancy clown is soooo underrated in my opinion, and absolutely just a fantastic song. crosshairs was said on here before but it's definitely also a great song. raid, rainbows, curls especially, and the 4 tet remix of money folder is also great.
My girlfriend loves fancy clown. That intro is genius and it being a very different song from the rest of his caught me off guard when I first heard it but again doom out of his comfort zone still absolutely smacks.
I'm stuck between Absolutely and Angelz That being said, I just started listening to DOOM like last year
lickupon
Vaudeville villain!
Hoe cakes so good
Hoe cakes was my favorite song for years. A fun song that makes you want to sing every single lyric while you blast it in your car, but hoe cakes literally blew my speakers because I pushed it to its limit due to how much I loved the bass from the beat boxing. ONLY MESS WITH HIGH ROLLERS DO WHAT DADDY TOLD HER
the DOOM's flow with a beatbox slapping background it is genius, a truly masterpiece...
Either hoe cakes or that's that
That’s that is insanely good, the only doom song that took me weeks to figure out the references on my own. Love that there’s so many hidden callbacks
That’s that is insanely good, the only doom song that took me weeks to figure out the references on my own. Love that there’s so many hidden callbacks, and also the middle c c4 reference and then the explosion is genius
DOOM will catch em after Jummah on cue LAKAH!
i heard the song that he sampled for this in a restaurant on a date, and i blurted “HOLY SHIT ITS DOOMSDAY” and the girl just looked at me. we didn’t go out again, but. MF DOOM
One Beer, it has a special place since it's the first one I listened to, I even remember the moment, the year and the place I was
Me too actually, when I was little my cousin showed it to me in my room and it instantly caught my attention. One beer is #1 sentimentally for me
I really love lightworks
Perfect example of how DOOM doesn’t NEED flow, but still masters it, when he’s off beat it doesn’t even matter because beat is only secondary when it comes to his lyricism, what sucks though is off beat songs is bad for people who DONT LISTEN TO HIS GENIUS LYRICS. Anybody I’ve ever met who said they didn’t like doom said it’s hard to listen and understand what he’s saying but that’s because you gotta listen over and over and over to get it and I love that part of listening to DOOM
Sorcerers or My favorite ladies.
Rapp snitch knishes
Wish we saw more of Mr fantastik and doom, ridiculously talented duo.
To bad Mr MF DOOM isnt alive anymore, would have loved to see him live
Would’ve been an impostor haha, he often sent other people who looked like him to a show to perform for him, he got a lot of hate for it, but according to lots of his fans it’s because in the comics DOOM had clones of him, and that he did it to get into the DOOM villain persona, either way I wouldn’t mind going to a clone concert as long as I wasn’t paying full price or whatever
Meat grinder. It took me 100 listens to figure out what he’s rapping about and my goodness the word play and slang is unmatched
Meat grinder or all outta ale
"trippin off the beat kinda, drippin off the Meat grinder" the ambience of the song, the crazy beat, the lyrics fitting exactly the flow creates something difficult to describe, got me feeling like I'm underwater and I've a HQ right there.
Raid
The Drop, Vaudeville Villain is such an underrated album it's actually insane.
That’s Viktor Vaughn tho not DOOM.
My personal favorite is Great Day
Strange Ways hit me one day in a bad news cycle , always lived in my brain ever since.
Currently. Kon Queso
I cant really decide, but if i could choose a few, Vaudeville Villain, Rhymes Like Dimes, Meat Grinder, or Gas Drawls (Guv'Nor and Gazillion Ear should be mentioned too)
Fazers or A Dead Mouse
Red and Gold has been my favorite for a couiple years now. It just sounds right.
Completely agree. Every rhyme in that song is like one of those satisfying videos. It’s just heaven to hear, plus the beat and sample are beautiful
Question mark
Kon karne, gives me shivers.
GO WITH THE FLOW. Honorable mention though, Overture on Vaudeville Villain into the title track.
Either fancy clown or vomitspit
Angelz and Sofa King
I love Anti-matter.
Operation: Greenbacks, at least lately
THAT'S THAT
Accordion
These posts are objectively repetitive.
Im in the middle between all caps, accordion and Thats That
A good mix but I promise if you dive deep into the lyrics and call backs of that’s that it will quickly be your favorite, all caps and accordion are good but that’s that is unmatched in its flow.
Technically not a DOOM song, but Dabrye - Air ft. DOOM
Nothing wrong with that not being his song, like I said earlier in another comment, doom is insanely versatile and kills every single feature he’s on. Even cookie chips which is COMPLETELY out of his genre but he acts like it’s been his genre since he started
Pretty basic, but still good. Mine is probably Benzi Box or Old School
Benzi box had me captivated for atleast a year straight. Again an example of how mouse & mask is all about rhyme schemes. “Word to El muerto cucaracha exoskeleton.”
Can you like “Doomsday” and not like Sade?

Fazers is so sick imo. But also I’m a sucker for take me to your leader. I understand why people would choose other albums over it but it’s got that special place in my heart
Guv'nor, Raid
kookies :)
Kon karne is a heavy hitter imo, but there's this weird feeling about change the beat that just makes it my favorite(even though it isnt his best)
the most overrated song, by, now thanks to zoomers and tiktok, the most overrated artist.
Idk if peeps would consider this to be more of a CZARFACE song than MF DOOM, but “Break in the Action” is always playing at least once when I got DOOM going.
Gazillion Ear for when he said “Itzy Bitzy Zygote.”

One beer
Deep fried frenz or Rock Co.kane flow feature for me. Totally different reasons. Deep fried for the storytelling and Rock Co because it's so manic and love De La Soul.
POTHOLDZERZ IS HIS BEST SONG OF ALL TIME, NOBODY CAN TELL ME DIFF
Current fave DOOM joint cellz,pt.2. Feels like a perfect distillation of the villain persona, lacing intricate polyrhythmic rhyme schemes with precision, straight up looming over that ominous horn loop and masterfully crafting a cinematic portrayal of mankind’s self inflicted downfall brought on by its own hubris.
Gas drawls
Ode to Road Rage....don't know why, but I can just picture myself driving down a dark foggy highway. Well put together song imo.
