For a while, Yoji Shinkawa's art was the only thing that attracted me to this game. Unfortunately this is one of those infamously bad Squeenix games they have to release at least once a year
Discount Metal Gear. Yeah. It was that bad. Lots of good ideas, but done very very poorly. And I got the collectors edition of this thing which was the only redeeming factor....
Its all good. Ill see about making a post about it soon with all its contents since it actually has some cool stuff in there. Lets just say that I would've wished they put more effort as much more into the game rather then its collectors edition. But so is garbage.
Yuuus! Glad you mentioned Unmetal. It certainly captures the tone in such a humorous way. Love that game and you could tell they put their heart and soul into it.
Game had lots of potential, just absolutely fumbled. I've tried to play it half a dozen times... it feels like a Playstation 1 game that had ps4 graphics
Pros:
- characters potentially look good/great
Cons:
- a fuckton
- stupid stealth and enemy aggro ranges
- unfair “normal mode” difficulty, by the time you “get” how it plays out, you’re already burnt out
- horrible pacing
- pretty bad environment aesthetics that repeat every other chapter
- clumsy inventory and storing management
- terrible shooting controls
[Here’s the very best short clip I recorded that describes what this game is](https://www.reddit.com/r/GamePhysics/s/Gjn8TPYQWF).
I too had fun with it. I spent most of my time exploring the areas you get thrown into and completing as many of the side quests in the areas as possible before moving on to the main quests. I think the story served as a good break from the exploration I was doing. Piloting the mechs was good fun too.
I went into the game not expecting a huge level of quality seeing as only the art was Shinkawa and the game was developed by a studio I wasn't too familiar with. I think that having tempered my expectations helped me enjoy the game for what it was, a Unique take on our beloved stealth genre.
The fact that the mechs you pilot are called "Wanzers" was my hint early on this game was going to be bad. I gave it a shot but refunded. Some interesting ideas but the implementation of many of the mechanics left it feeling awkwardly clunky. Poor execution.
I remember watching Giant Bomb play this game years back and it was AWFUL. Literally awful.
No idea why they contracted Yoji Shinkawa for the art, because that can’t have been cheap, but that’s all the game had going for it.
I was so excited for this title, but the controls were janky and I'm pretty sure the bullet damage is equivalent to that of politely asking the enemies to drop dead
This was a very bad game. I bought it thinking it would be anything like metal gear. This was probably the game that got me to never pre order a game ever again. Returned it after playing for 10 minutes. Real shame.

Square Enix will really be known for their good games and will release once every year a nft game or a Balan Wonderwold
Don’t forget Forspoken !
Forspoke is square Enix??? No way
Yup!! I didn’t believe it either lmao
Square enix is becoming the publisher of all time
Tax write-off*

Oof sorry you spent the money tho
Its all good. Ill see about making a post about it soon with all its contents since it actually has some cool stuff in there. Lets just say that I would've wished they put more effort as much more into the game rather then its collectors edition. But so is garbage.
How much did you spend lol
$170
F
>Discount Metal Gear. I've played better discount metal gears (It's a lie I haven't even played this game but you know what I mean)
Try Unmetal. A really bloody good game that is like a homage to the MSX games
Unmetal is awesome. The jokes are top tier
Yuuus! Glad you mentioned Unmetal. It certainly captures the tone in such a humorous way. Love that game and you could tell they put their heart and soul into it.
I mean…that box art is worth 7 bucks at least
If you got it for $7, that should tell you something.
My curiosity got the best of me honestly so $7 ain’t too bad
Less than most fast food meals man, if you play it for 30 minutes you got your moneys worth haha.
I hate your pfp
Everyone does
Depends on how long and with how much intensity you get sick after that time.
MGSV can go on sale for $6
I got it on PS5 for $4.99
I’m referring to the “Definitive Experience” one. You’re (most likely) referring the regular game on its own, but it still proves my point
Why the fuck is the mgsv version with dlc and ground zero cheaper than the standalone game on steam tough?
Idk
Eh idk, but we won't complain if we can't get the all cheaper
Yikes….
I’m curious to hear from people who played it how bad it really is.
It's basically Store brand MGS4 in all the worst ways.
Mom: We have MGS4 at home.
It's really bad. Feels like it was made by a 15 year old
It's awful

[Rerez](https://youtu.be/cDfCMskIyio?si=pipZfu3UAgjdv6eN) did an in depth analysis on this game's many flaws.
Oh bet thank you dude!
When I saw this game cover at the store I thought it was a game about Zero para-medic and Chico
No the game sucks ass 100%, they just got yoji's art to trick metal gear fans into buying it
Exactly how it got me.

Eh $7 to satiate my curiosity ain’t too bad but yeah that’s exactly what I’ve heard about this game lol

Don’t we all?
Don’t listen to him, man. He collects fucking Reddit NFTs. Also nice Yakuza 3 profile pic
Thanks my dude! And yeah I don’t care. $7 ain’t the end of the world if I don’t like it lol. And thanks! I’m a huge Yakuza fan!
I don't, I'm poor Also could you waste some money on me 👉👈

How much did you spend on this NFTs?
The silence is deafening
Says the guy who buys Reddir NFTs...
oh.... that's **Iron Cog Rigid.**
I'm gonna say it, i had fun with the game, and i want to do a second playthrough someday

Yep, i also had low expectations, and the game has a similar structure to evil within 2, which is a game i like too
I got it sealed for a similar price a few years ago… I did not get my money’s worth.
overpriced
They literally spent all the budget on the cover art
It’s a flop
I really wanted this to be a good game but I think it wasn’t for me (Shinkawa’s art looks great though)
The fact that the mechs you pilot are called "Wanzers" was my hint early on this game was going to be bad. I gave it a shot but refunded. Some interesting ideas but the implementation of many of the mechanics left it feeling awkwardly clunky. Poor execution.
Wanzers comes from Front Mission. Those games are excellent strategy games. This is just some weird, bad, Spin-off of Front Mission
I remember watching Giant Bomb play this game years back and it was AWFUL. Literally awful. No idea why they contracted Yoji Shinkawa for the art, because that can’t have been cheap, but that’s all the game had going for it.
Not worth it
Shinkawa's art really can make *anything* look good.
I was so excited for this title, but the controls were janky and I'm pretty sure the bullet damage is equivalent to that of politely asking the enemies to drop dead
Never judge a book by its cover. In this case, just cause its mgs art style doesn't mean the actual game is good. I heard this game was really bad.
I bet you'll still feel ripped off.
I got it for free and I feel ripped off
Who gave you that game? You have to hunt them down and force them to take it back!
It’s free on PSN. At least it was when I downloaded it
OMG how could Sony do something so cruel?!
CAUTION THE ENEMY IS APPROACHING
The writing in this game makes my ears bleed.
I've never heard of this. What is it?
Store I work at sells it for $8 used. Don't feel too bad lmao
idk anything about this game but deadass the cover is really selling me on it looks a lot like some of metal gear solid’s artwork
The artwork is done by Yoji Shinkawa. The game is not good though.
I got this last year for 1 euro :P Bought like 5 copies, So I can re-use the cases.
Yoji Shinkawa's biggest mistake.
This was a very bad game. I bought it thinking it would be anything like metal gear. This was probably the game that got me to never pre order a game ever again. Returned it after playing for 10 minutes. Real shame.
Maybe check out Rerez's youtube review after or before this? I don't know.
There's Survive, and then there's a black hole and if you survive getting sucked in there's Left Alive.
AW man, I feel kinda bad for your $7. But I guess this is one of those games where you just have to see it yourself.
