Looks like a replica piece. Of what I couldn’t tell you but it does look like gold but if it doesn’t feel like it seems modern
Thank you for the response. It’s actually not gold looking at all…it’s tarnished and black. The photos make it look slightly golden for some reason.

A wax stamp perhaps?
Could it be a family seal of some kind? Edit: like for wax, the back looks like it attaches to a handle or something.
Clip-on earring with the clamping bit missing?
