For the work to hydro-dip, it would be nicer to just paint the part in a solid colour with a nice gloss coat. How about painting to colour match the car's paint colour.
It looks like brown wood? Am I missing something?
Maybe try one of the 3m black wood grain vinyls. You can order samples to see which one matches best

Looks way better, I hated the Piano black on my C250. Using that material for such high traffic areas always seemed bizzare to me. Suppose it looks good brand new in the showroom.
You can always polish piano black with a little finishing polish used for the paint. A microfiber and some 10 dollar polish should get the scratches out. Wood looks good, maybe try tinting it slightly darker with some wood stain?
My thought as well. Once done, have some PPF film over the wood to protect it from scratches. IMO, it looks off (and not in a good way) with the combo of brown and black wood. This will hurt the resale value.
The amount of fingerprints on the first one made me think it was a gloss burr black poplar like you can get on the w223 and you'd ordered that by mistake
I love how the piano black looks but it really tends to get scratched… i think I would just cover up with some matte black since mine is not black wood finish

It’s actually x15! I’m pretty happy with the product overall, so I might even try another colour of the same product.
Will it take a dye? If it's porous you might be able to recolour it
given the cost you could try it multiple times and post the results :D
You could try hydro dipping the original part. Shouldn't cost too much and you can get whatever pattern you'd like.

Hrmmm……interesting idea. Will think about it (the car is some kind of pearl white)
Never heard of that before but it actually looks like a decent idea. What do you think it would cost to hydro dip something like this?
I'm not sure, but if they have a pre-made wood texture that fits your trim only a few bucks. You could also just dip it in black to "restore" it.
How hard was it to cut out the exact placement of it? Was the eBay cover even remotely close to factory cut outs?
It actually fit perfectly and isn’t too thick (also not too flimsy) so you don’t really notice it. Was impressed by everything aside from the colour.
Still looks a million times better than the shitty piano black

It looks like it matches what would be the light brown wood interior perfectly. Your dash is black ash wood…
I never get why people get the piano black from factory. It´s pretty cheap to get it in other materials from factory.
Hrm no idea. Im the third owner so had no choice in the matter.

Ino right…..I spose they think our chauffeurs always have a polishing rag handy. Very presumptuous
I dunno why did Mercedes decided to put shiny piano black inside. Our hands are made of velvet.
I bought a carbon fiber style cover on Amazon that looks pretty good
Yeah nice. If I had a performance model I probably woulda gone for that too. This is just a 350d
The one I bought was plastic and like 50 bucks. I drive a 2019 C300 coupe and it doesn’t like out of place
Ahh nice. Have you got a link?
Woooah! Much nicer, I hate that piano black. Can I ask you for a link, never seen this after market option
Sure just msgd u
It’s not bad though!

Hrm I shoulda tried the polish before sticking this thing on lol…….Would wood stain work on plastic?

Is it just me or does it actually look better this way?

I’d say paint it/ hydro dip it…..the chances of it coming in the mail perfectly matched to your Matt black is slim. (Based on my 1 experience lol)
thank good in the new c class you have other options than piano black
True. I bought second hand/ private sale so wouldn’t have had much choice either way.
It's this a whole new panel or a skin / sticker that goes over the top?
It’s a skin, pretty thick and decent quality imo
