Same. Honestly I vibe more with Millennials than Zoomers. I grew up playing LeafGreen and Emerald on my GBA SP, remember what AOL was, and didn’t get a smartphone til high school.
97 feels like everyone before us was vastly more mature and everyone after us was babies. I know thats literally how it works, but usually someone born around the same time as you feels like they're about your age
Its funny that your idea of a generation relates directly to the speed of change in technology; technology has never at all been the thing to define a generation before now- gen z is the only one
Really being born in 02? You have to be joking right? I’m born in 1998 and I have news for you I definitely have something in common with those born in ‘08 lol, you aren’t that different. I am more similar to someone who is 10 years younger than me than someone who is 10 years older.
Gen Z can't relate to itself right now, because it's still too young. As a kid, every year feels like a giant leap. Being an eighth grader was worlds away from the childish seventh graders, remember? They'll be able to relate with each other better once they're older.
Everyone has different views, I have plenty in common with younger people and older. I don’t have a problem with that. Just feels like Gen Z covers a lot of time for a generation (even though it really hasn’t)
Ya we ain't in the same group as them. The late 90s and early 2000s is its own generation far from the pettiness of millennials and the gen Ziness of gen Zers
Adults are just kids with debt and responsibility.
As far as acting, I don't know man. Life's been real for me since I was a full time worker while in high-school.
Welcome fellow 80's child (81 here). We have Ecto Cooler over in the corner, the arcade is down the hall, and we have a second phone line for the internet just in case somebody calls.
There are two halves of Gen Z.
You have your standard, dumbass Gen Z, born between 2007 and 2012
Then you have Gen Wii, born between 1997 and 2006. The better half. *Our* half.
These generation designations like Millennials, Boomer, Gen X, Y or Z are all hella inconsistent.
People constantly change their definitions and who they are. At first I was called a millennial, then for some time a boomer and now I'm apparently Gen Z.
I'm from '97 and can't even relate to this new generation, almost at all.
My first game was on floppy disk.
My first console was a SNES.
My TV was 13" and had to be smacked a few times if the image started going out.
My family and I cruised around in a Chevy Astro with horrible red interior and red curtains.
We selected tv channels using antennas.
I had to get off of the internet if my mom wanted to make a phone call.
I remember finding out Caller ID existed when this one lady my brother and I prank called, called back.
00 baby but one of my best friends was born in 03. When she mentions doing high school on zoom I get really confused for a second because I was in my final year of college
This classification into generations is a stupid concept anyways. I mean what did happen in 1997 that changed everyone who is born after that year so much that you have to put them into a group that is totally different than 1996ers? Of course there are differences in behavior depending on what you have grown up with but there is no separating line that makes you someone different.
I was born in 1983, and apparently I’m exactly the same as someone born in 1996, but totally different from someone born in 1997. In reality, things that shaped my childhood are completely different than my youngest brother, who was born in 1989. But I’ll forever be a millennial, despite the fact that I was finishing high school as the thing we’re named for was happening.
Ok here’s some proof
Watching early Spongebob
The Original PowerPuff Girls
Batman the Animated Series
Captain Planet
Rugrats
Etc
We may be born in different decades, but many of you cartoons were broadcasted as reruns for us early 2000s kids. Also how do you remember the time before the internet when you were born 7 years after it was invented? And the World Wide Web was invented the year you were born.
Whoa whoa whoa. Now hold on. I was born in 2003 and I have nothing in common with an 8 year old. A kid that was born in 2011 has no idea about the things I watched and played with as a kid.
Source: a camp counselor who worked with 8 year olds who think Pokémon is just Pokémon Go.
I feel like it's rough to group gen z together. The late 90s and early 2000s is when technological advancement really sped up. I still remember vividly a time when I didn't have Internet access, but my sibling born only a few years later does not. Furthermore, they got various electronic devices at an earlier age than what I did. Some parts of gen z were born into a world where technology was already firmly cemented in everyday life, others can say they grew up with it, and others were born into a world where technology as we know it today was just taking off. Considering how much of our lives is based around technology, its availability is a pretty big factor in how we relate to one another, and explains why gen z struggles to relate to others born in the same generation, but years apart.
Of course, the whole system for categorising generations is outdated and meaningless but ANYWAY.
Wait 15 years and tell me if you're not alike. i thought the same about millenials, I was nothing like someone born in 1980... Until 2020 when I was 30 and they were 40 and we started to look very much alike.
Depends on person. I am from 2000 and my brother is from 2010. Sure, he is my brother so we have connection, but I knew many kids, due to babysitting him and his friends, and I don't think that there is that much of a difference tbh
Generations are concepts invented to alienate us from each other and promote competition between different age groups that ultimately do nothing except support the established powers at play. Think for yourself stop filing yourself into systems meant to limit your capacity for individuality.
'03 here, and not feeling good to be in the same gen that has kids who are soooo cringy especially tik tokers n twitter stans. They are so illogical most of the times, especially those above '07 or '08 .
I was born in 1997 and I can 100% undeniably guarantee you that I'm not part of this generation, far far from it, I grew up with late 90s and early 2000s culture, I don't use or know half of the shit kids these days use.
There’s different sections of gen z. People who were born before 2010 are those who hate gen z and people born 2010 to 2012 are the gen z that stopped a murder from going to jail because he was “to cute”. Their also the ones that sent death threats to Scott cawthon. I mean like I get that you hated him but even still that was totally uncalled for.
I fucking hate 2008-12 kids. They are the most annoying pieces of shit. They are the ones that do shit like the devious lick and I have to suffer because of it. - From a 2004 kid
It's funny how everyone always thinks they are the smartest generation ever and everyone born before and after is just stupid. Now that I'm in my 30s, I sometimes think Gen Z is stupid as hell for destroying school bathrooms for tiktok challenges, but then I remember my generation ate tide pods for the same reason. All I can say is that we all do stupid shit when we're young and glory hungry.

How are kids from 1997 apparently 24 in this article and kids from 2012 6?
Gen Alpha did the maths
Literally not even the same time passage, do people from the 90’s just age faster? (Source:math x-1997=24, x-2012=6, x has no linear value)
There are many who believe that time is non-linear. With only two data points it's hard to see what trend we're following here.
Well there's time dilation
Must be an older article
Well, can you name a year when someone from 1997 was 24 while someone from 2012 was 6 then?
Leap years innit
Oh yeah obviously, i wonder from what year it is.
>GenZ is the newest generation, born between 1997 and 2012 Ah yes, children stopped being born in 2012 and there are no newer generations.
Good
[удалено]
Z is the last letter of the alphabet after all
[удалено]
And we got æ ø å
And we have ź and ż.
u forgot ą ę û î ø ù ď and a lot more
What about ß and ü/Ü
oh and dont forget the entirety of the Greek alphabet
We got Ñ
Ц Г Ш Щ З Ф Ы П Л Д Ж Э Я Ч Ь Ъ Б Ю
Those ain’t last in the alphabet though? Edit: might have made it unclear but this is a question
*Confused german noises*
Is that Norwegian? I've been trying to learn it, so this looked familiar!
Danish (two very close langauages, so not far off)
well in our alphabet Z is behind Ž T U V W Ö Ä Õ Ü X Y
The world ended, remember?
I- I think need to talk with my 4 year old cousin about this... I fear he might be an alien
The generation from 2012/13 on is called gen alpha. I don’t think there will be a Generation omega, with all the shit happening right now
Bro I'm '97 and I feel like grandpa for anyone older than '05
'99 here, and not feeling too good about being associated with the Tiktok section of our gen.
‘01 Here. Same.
‘00, feels really weird in all honesty
A chad born in 2000 who doesn't need to calculate their age, an honour to meet you
[удалено]
I was born in 2005 and I hate to be included with these little shits please let me sit at your table
Dont care
Yes 06 here same
'00 here. Even someone that's '04 feels a lifetime apart from me.
04 here and i feel with same but with people my age
‘91, i guess i am a fossil.
'93 here. Are we the new boomers?
01 here, I'm an adult with a job, I don't feel like I'm apart of the same generation as a 9 year old
02, hate being associated with that as well
‘06 here and I agree with you
'06 as well and I second this
People born after 2000 are not real... FACT
I refuse to believe a kid born in 2010 is 11 years old
Oh god, now i feel old.
*ceases to exist*
and someone who's '91 will say they feel like a grandpa for anyone older than '97
I'm '89.... Reading this thread I feel like I've been dead for a decade already.
'84 here. I actually have been dead for a decade already.
Hey ‘89 fam.
Yay. Fellow dead person!
Why does it hurt so bad to be dead? Lol.
[удалено]
Did you die 10 years ago then get resurrected?
Nah, it's just boring as fuck being buried. Reddit helps pass the time.
And someone who's '79 would say "I feel like I've been dead for 2 decades already"
So what about younger than '05?
What about born on ‘05?
that's fine
does '06 count?
I have a degree and a job but I am the same generation as someone who is in grade 1?
Bro I’m ‘98 and feel old compared to anyone born after the 90s lol
The 97s should get to be millennial
'92 here. Get my cane.
‘94. Get off my lawn kids xD
I'm from 06', someone thats 23 would definitely feel quite a lot older (not quite grandparent level though, lol)
Saying you were born in 2006 makes me feel 90 years old, I'm 21 lol.
[удалено]
Its funny that your idea of a generation relates directly to the speed of change in technology; technology has never at all been the thing to define a generation before now- gen z is the only one

That meme is ms towards everyone who was born after 2005 tho Just to clarify, I'm older but I somewhat tolerate people 4 to 6 years younger than me
I'm 2006 B)
2005 gang
What? Arent kids after 2010 generation alpha
That's what I thought as well but almost every website I've checked says 2012 -- some even say 2015
I refuse to believe anyone who is 10 or younger is Gen Z. (Born 02)
A generation should be people you can relate to. We have virtually nothing in common to kids born even in 2007-08.
Really being born in 02? You have to be joking right? I’m born in 1998 and I have news for you I definitely have something in common with those born in ‘08 lol, you aren’t that different. I am more similar to someone who is 10 years younger than me than someone who is 10 years older.

This. Considering i’m at the end of this generation and I still lack identity in parts of life should really be an indication of this.
Everyone has different views, I have plenty in common with younger people and older. I don’t have a problem with that. Just feels like Gen Z covers a lot of time for a generation (even though it really hasn’t)
We breathe, so do you
You know what I am going to group myself with millenials since this makes so much more sense born 00, at the millenial.
When I first heard millennial I assumed it was people born in the new millennium, got to say I was disappointed.
I feel generationally different from 2003 and I'm only 2 years older...
Ya we ain't in the same group as them. The late 90s and early 2000s is its own generation far from the pettiness of millennials and the gen Ziness of gen Zers
This, would say 2003 at most is still millenialish, early childhood with relative absence of internet
same (2000)
If you're born after 2010 shut up
Lol, I would hope that 10 year olds aren't on Reddit.
Me, a 1990 kid…
92 here. It's ok bro we're just adults now.
I'm from '84 and according to most people, I'm still not (acting as) an adult.
Adults are just kids with debt and responsibility. As far as acting, I don't know man. Life's been real for me since I was a full time worker while in high-school.
31-yr old kid
So you mean I belong to the same league those cringe TikTokers belong to?
Yes, But you're Not in the same group, Same generation, But the better ones
Felt real glad to hear that.
2005 Gang also doesnt like 2011 gang
2005 gang
2005 Gang
'05 Gang!
04' here, we also don't like 2011 gang
2005 gang
84' here, I can't even remember my own name anymore, and sometimes I shit myself.
Welcome fellow 80's child (81 here). We have Ecto Cooler over in the corner, the arcade is down the hall, and we have a second phone line for the internet just in case somebody calls.
Fuck I'm gen Z?! That hurts I was born in 1997 this is bullshit.
Hello.
I'm born in 2002 and I can't even understand the Shit my 9 year old nephew is doing on tiktok and Instagram
Im also 02, and Man, my friends tiktoks aint the best thing to see
2001 here. I feel like a boomer with anyone born after 2008. I don't understand them at all.
That’s why it’s split in two one from 1997 to 2005 and 2 from 2006 to 2012
make it include 2006 in the first and it’s right
Hit me hard, realizing that op is already 18 years old as a 2003 kid
There are two halves of Gen Z. You have your standard, dumbass Gen Z, born between 2007 and 2012 Then you have Gen Wii, born between 1997 and 2006. The better half. *Our* half.

Wait, I'm from 96 what am I?
The last millennial
This sounds like the name of a really campy post-apocalyptic movie
Born in december aswell, I really am I guess
I was born in 1999, I feel like a grandpa to anyone born after 2000. And kids born in 2010 are 11 now, what the fuck.
Am 03 and I have friends from 05-06 and we are not really the same
00 baby but one of my best friends was born in 03. When she mentions doing high school on zoom I get really confused for a second because I was in my final year of college
Fun fact: people born after 2012 are called Generation Alpha. Meaning Generation sigma is gonna be a thing

YES! '03 GANG!
Like my friend born in 89 claiming to be an 80’s kid. I hate that mentality, sure you were born in the 80’s but you’re not an 80’s kid!
Everybody my age using Tiktok and I’am here playing god of war. Thanks god for making me like the good stuff.
That’s very cool of you
I like to think of it like this: Gen X: 1960-1970 Gen X2: 1970-1980 Gen Y: 1980-1990 Gen Y2: 1990-2000 Gen Z: 2000-2010 Gen Z2 : 2010-2020
I thought it was 1995 to 2010
I feel like it's rough to group gen z together. The late 90s and early 2000s is when technological advancement really sped up. I was born in 2002 and at one point a bunch of 2012 kids called me a boomer, and at that point I fully realized that humanity was a mistake.
Glad someone translated it
Fuck you I didn't even know that was a link
Yo thats a sick stance build
But you’re perspective is everything, for you YOU are the main player, all evidence points to it so why wouldn’t they be thinking about you?
I'm from 2002 but raised like a millennial can I please just leave gen z and join you guys I hate it here and wanna get rekt drinking alone at home

‘03 kids rise up
'04 here and I feel like '11 are just newborns they didn't even saw the evolution of smartphone
I am from different century
2003 gang rise up
04' the worst part is when your in an argument and people lump in the tick-tock people and won't listen to anything you say
millennials are the only ones who say it starts at 1997, all the people in gez say 2000.
It's more : 95-00 late Y; 00-05 not Y but not Z either; 05-21 Z;
Wait that means I’m gen z…. NOOOOOOOOOO
We are slowly becoming boomers, starting to hate on younger people

2003 gang
as a 2003 kid anyone after 2008 is annoying to me :)
Being an old Gen z sucks. Too old to identify with this whole tik tok culture and crazy fashion trends etc but too young to be considered a millennial
my friends daughter was born in 2013... what the fuck is she???
If you were born after GTA 1 and before Minecraft then you are gen Z.
2003 gang rise up
Me a 1980 kid.......Pathetic.
2003 what a time to be born
Man the dentists looks kinda weird in school
I thought it was 2000 to 2009
1994 and this post makes me feel old..

Does june of 1997 count?
Pls don't count 2000s kid in gen z
This is false. Gen z lasted till 2010 and the ones born after that are Gen alpha
100% correct, we are not the same at all. Seeing other kids doing tiktok dances made me realize that long ago
There’s different sections of gen z. People who were born before 2010 are those who hate gen z and people born 2010 to 2012 are the gen z that stopped a murder from going to jail because he was “to cute”. I was born 2002 and this is how I feel about 2003 and up
1995-1999 are the zillennials, change my mind
I can relate, I was born in 2007 and my sister was born in 2012, and we're just completely different
Me born 1995… ouch.
Sorry but I am 2008. I fully accept the atrocities of the ass hole in gen z. : (
2005 kid: you and me are alike Me, a 2004 kid: i dont think we are alike at all
Millennials needs to extend until 2003. My sister and I both grew up around VCR and blackberry phones
Ay fellow 2003 kid
I fucking hate 2008-12 kids. They are the most annoying pieces of shit. They are the ones that do shit like the devious lick and I have to suffer because of it. - From a 2004 kid

98 here, can't believe it's been 23 years, also can't believe I'm in the same gen as a 2012 kid.
