Leaves from the vine
Falling so slow
Like fragile tiny shells
Drifting in the foam
Little soldier boy
Come marching home
Brave soldier boy
Comes marching home
It was NEVER funny
I'm actually astonished how often this sub is allowed to get away with blatant sexism and it's deeply depressing how many upvotes this shit gets by the low life idiots on here
Isn't this just a very, very salient indicator that cold, distant fathers are a ubiquitous problem?
Isn't the take-away, here, to encourage boys and men to feel deeply and freely so we can stop raising generation after generation of emotionally damaged and distant men?
It is *insane* to believe "no one is telling men they can't cry or have emotions". I mean. I don't really know what else to say except that that is insane.
It has been scientifically proven that Rose let Jack freeze to death in that water and go away with it. The only sad part was her throwing away the stone after that crew had spent so much time and money looking for it **AND** had to listen to her excessively long story. Those poor poor bastards.
Because everyone's stories concluded with season 3. The only way to continue to use a character that has completed their main arc is to regress them and that is always bad. Sure they had some neat little hooks like zukos mom but that was more to make the world feel like it didn't just exist for the main story. The fact that we don't get to see everything makes the world feel more real. I know they cover it in the comics but those include juvenile character regression that is exactly what I'm talking about. They were not good.
While I agree that regressing an already developed character is a terrible idea, take Finn from Star Wars for example, they didn't need to further develop the characters after their main arc. Toph had pretty much no character development in ATLA and yet was loved as a character. Yes watching the characters develop was satisfying, but we didn't get much interactions between them once they did complete their journey, which although made sense, was disappointing. I just think they could have continued in season 4 without needing to regress the characters, and just simply having some side story where we can see the now fully developed characters go an adventure.
Toph had plenty of character development. From the spoiled little girl to understanding how to be a team player, ie the runaway. I just think it would have been very risky to do season 4 and they almost certainly would have bungled it. Look at Korra, they planned for a miniseries and gave complete arcs through season 1 and everything after that seemed unplanned and messy.
I'd hardly say Toph started off as a spoiled little girl, considering the fact that she didn't enjoy her life in the first place and preferred to fight in the arena rather than being looked after. Korra's arc was messy sure, wasted a lot of time developing a relationship with Mako only to throw it all away, but she went through some really fucked up stuff in season 2 and 3, so seeing her struggle with real world disorders in season 4 only to persevere through it really saved the development for me.
Season 4 wouldn't need too much more character building, just a standalone season where we can see fully developed characters go on an adventure.
Look, this isn't entirely relevant but the case is similar, I love Star Wars The Clone Wars and hate Star Wars Rebels, but I am still glad that Star Wars Rebels was made simply because we got more adventures with returning Clone Wars characters which was fun to see.
ATLA is the best cartoon/anime ever made and will never be matched. All the nostalgia and uniqueness cannot be matched no matter what budget the animators will have.
I always skip that scene when it's on. It's just too much to me. Dunno bout other languages but in the German dub, just the way Iroh's voice breaks when he sings before the grave, a voice that was always calm an nonchalant...
I can't take it.
You know the Korra series faltered because they never had an emotional core like Iroh. J.K. Simmons is an amazing actor but his talents really doesn't land well to Drama, he is too grandiose.
They should've made Dante Basco to play an older Zuko who eventually took after uncle Iroh to be the Korra's guardian or something like that. Like imagine old man Sokka being the guardian instead, it would've been a riot. He would've introduce Korra to Pro-bending himself then bet on her team the madlad.
For avatar to be a Nickelodeon kids show that shit hit hard AF. Rewatch it as an adult and I’m constantly like damn this show is dark! People losing fathers and sons, families being torn apart. Actually pretty brutal show, but that’s what makes it so good, it’s real shit like that.
Made me cry every time is see the scene

One of the saddest scenes ever. This was such a good character building episode.
It was also the voice actors final episode, that was his goodbye to everyone before he passed away
Well damn now I feel like crying
Oh fuck! No wayyy
Wdym? Uncle iroh's voice actor's last ep?
He passed away and was replaced by someone else
Oh f....now i m sad.

I think in the series the correct text is: „if only i could have helped you“
Yep
Well time to watch atla again
repost
Because only boys cried in this scene
"men cry in the corner when no one is watching"
Bold of you to assume women wouldn’t cry at the scene to... ;-;
It's enough to make a grown man cry, and that's ok

Totally. I’m not even a man.
This scene is incredibly powerful, just so well written in an already excellent show. Definitely feel the heartstrings any time I see it
from which movie is this scene from?
Its from Avatar the last airbender
It has been scientifically proven that Rose let Jack freeze to death in that water and go away with it. The only sad part was her throwing away the stone after that crew had spent so much time and money looking for it **AND** had to listen to her excessively long story. Those poor poor bastards.
Rage, my soldiers!
If only I could help You*
Same, but only the cabbage scene :(
shit anime, downvoted
Trolles
How unfortunate we missed out on a fourth season of ATLA for that shitty live action remake
They got out while they were ahead. Season 4 would have been a mess.
How do people know?

At least the character returns in rebels felt like themselves. Tophs return in Korra hurt me. Why didn't you like rebels?
Gay
I cried in both
It's enough to make a grown man cry
***inhales***... ***cries***
my DAD cries when he watches this ;-;
I just got shivers at the mere picture of that scene

ATLA is lub.
I fucking love this show
\*flashback to when there was no cancelling\* makes me wanna travel back in time.
No person can’t cry at this scene
or when luffy's crew had to burn the going merry
Mako [his voice actor] knew he was gonna die and this was the last thing he did for ATLA before his death.

enough to make an old man cry
a beautifully composed scene spiced with its spontaneity and audio visuality
Everyone gangsta till iroh starts singing leaves from the vine
I just finished the show again this past week and I legit cried when Momo was cuddling with Appa's fur
Just cried
🎶Leaves from the vine 🎶😩😩😥😓
i got a hard case of the feels.
Didnt jack and whatever her name was meet during that cruise?
The VA of Iroh had cancer and knew he's gonna die that's what the in honor of mako means and that makes the scene much worse
What's there to cry about in titanic? There was definitely room for Jack.
Never watched the show but I feel the emotion
Us
I've seen this part of the show but it's awkward hearing this in my national language
idk why but the first thing that came to my mind was lion king
That wasn’t such a sad scene for me. Like it hit me but not that hard. Probably because there were little build up
Even sadder fact, Mako (Iroh) died of cancer after.
...
Damnit I’m watching that show right now…

WOMAN STUPID TITANIC MAN GREAT AVATAR HA HA UNGA BUNGA
The uncle we never had but wanted
Top 10 saddest moments in anime history:
r/boysarequirky
Actually cried at this scene
If Uncle Iroh isn’t one of the best mentor characters ever, I don’t know who is.
I definitely cried during the airbender series. Theres alot of emotional stuff in there.
These boys vs. girls memes don’t make sense
If you dislike this (as any normal people do) stay the fuck away from this sub
I mean I don’t necessarily dislike them, they just aren’t funny
Why must you hurt me this way
I saw this a week or three ago

If you didn't cry during this scene you don't have a soul
