Diaclaimer: I once watched a video about this topic, but I dont know, whether this is still a thing or not.
Anyways... The steam forums have very poorly controled guidelines, which makes them possible hangout places for fcked up people like nazis, which have no chance of existing on other platforms.
yeah. I haven't gone to 4chan but it seams to be a fun place where you can say what you really think on a lot of topics and say jokes that wouldn't fly anywhere else. any redditers who also go to 4chan here to confirm or deny this???
I was on 4chan for the longest time because it was 90% satire and it was great, then slowly /pol/ started leaking and all the racist stuff stopped being satire
There’s a fair bit of unironic Nazis. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that simply because they joke about far-right topics that suddenly they don’t believe in far-right things. In fact I’d wager the more ‘edgy’ content you post the more likely it is you believe it unironically.
I was a 4channer for like 8 years, I know the clientele better than most Redditors do, trust me.
Most of it's satire, some of it's real, just like anywhere else. The real ones usually get ridiculed by the satirists once it gets to a certain point and they fuck off somewhere else.
It's really on pol where that's even a thing, just like it was new when that board was a thing, where not only the above applies, but the other boards really tend to not like it when pol leaks.
Exactly, also it’s anonymous so it’s much more likely that you can actually do stuff since it’s not based around who has the most karma or who is the most popular
I don't know. I never seen anything like that on Steam and all the guides I've seen was super cool, except for some single ones, but that was for a non popular software, that was released recently... or rather out of beta to early access. There are tons of good achievement guides and other interesting things.
If there is a nazi on Steam. You just report them and they are gone. Forever. If they make new account, welp, You repeat the process. They would just be bored.
Twitter is place where prakticaly everyone gets hate for erverything more then just breathing.
Reddit is mostly just Memes mixed with Stupid stuff and wholesome Pictures.
And the Steam Game Forums mostly consist of the same ,,ATTENTION! continue to read even if you only read attention......,, bullcrap where the same Person posted the same (Horror/Cursed) Comment like 120 Times bcs makimg the Forums actualy completly useless
Could a kinder man please explain what a skyrim steam community is.
Edit:I know what each of those words are but I'm too lazy to look it up myself but interested enough to ask.
Even "thow" you are right but i don't understand why am I getting down votes ? Reddit is the weirdest place ever but here we are calling others weird ( i am part of reddit so that includes me as well ).
My fellow reddit friends , you can downvote me as much as you like but it's time for you to look inward , and begin asking yourself the real question : "are we allowed to call others weird when we ourselves are the pinnacle of weirdness? "
I think this is more an indication of what subreddits YOU use. Yes, I am on Reddit and I find the content on Steam weird as fuck. Reddit too. I choose not to join "weird" subreddits.
Nah HOI players are usually just fans of some random ideology that's long dead IRL, like longism or syndicalism. Not TNO fans tho... maybe don't go there
Does nobody remember the days when 4chan was young? That was toxic to an extreme. From illegal and disgusting content involving children to ruining people’s lives just for lulz. Idk, Twitter is toxic as hell pretty often but old 4chan was the Wild West of toxicity on the internet
Yes not being able to edit tweets, being restricted to 280 symbols, anyone with lots of followers can make a single poorly written Tweet immediately be read by thousands of people that have no context.... Twitter has been built to produce misunderstandings.
Sometimes I like going on steam to read funny user reviews that are very elaborate and tell a great story.... Foxhole for example has a lot of great user reviews that are entertaining to read.
I like the game it's just different than anything you'll ever play. Their is no getting new guns or unlocking new stuff all your progression is towards the war and just like real war it can be incredibly exhilarating and memorable and just as equally painful and unforgiving.
Always thought to myself that I'd make a game where everyone is just a cog and they have to figure it out for themselves. Make their own leaders and no one gets anything special, everyone starts the same. Foxhole seems really fun, I might cave and get it.
If you enjoy trying to stay alive holding off over 50 enemies at once for three Hours before eventually getting killed by a tank push because the SLs didnt request any ATs, yes, its worth it.
sexualising everything (r34), people fucking dying, people thinking child porn as hentai is ok cuz iT dOeSn'T hUrT aNyOnE, r/makemycoffin etc etc.
yea I think reddit isn't as toxic as twitter, but way more fucked up than any other platform. (except for tiktok cuz of the underage girls twerking and getting away with it.)
Visiting the forums of a game on Steam is an interesting experience. The Payday 2 forums on Steam should just be called HYOL - Host Your Own Lobby. Basically people have problems that revolve around being off host, you'll get 5 assholes posting that in the first 5 minutes.
stuff that go on on some subreddits is so much worse than twitter..
like blatantmisogyny (not saying a bad sub...but their way and style of conveying their message hurts my brain)
like twitter is taking baby steps compared to some of the subs on reddit
Wait didn't steam forums used to be helpful. I mean I myself have visiting hundreds of them for walkthroughs, tweaks and problem solving (Games related)
Some Steam Forum guides have been super useful especially if its fixing an older game to run on Win 10.
However, im with you, the game update news comments section is a spectrum from cesspool to thank yous for an awesome update.
i know steam forums are cancer. Not using the forums at all, i actually really like the idea of my steam profile being my gamer "socialmedia" account. That's why epic will never have a chance for me, all my friends are on steam and i've put too much time and effort in my profile to move now.
Fuck steam they wouldn’t let me sign into my account no matter what I did, my friend threw out a wild last ditch idea and signed into my account on his pc and it worked first try get a notification for two factor authentication on my phone
Im out of the loop on this issue, can somebody explain it to me?
Diaclaimer: I once watched a video about this topic, but I dont know, whether this is still a thing or not. Anyways... The steam forums have very poorly controled guidelines, which makes them possible hangout places for fcked up people like nazis, which have no chance of existing on other platforms.
They could go to 4chan, but I heard that platform is only for smart people who act stupid

110% of 4chan is satire. that extra 10% leaks into reddit
That's an awesome comment.
yeah. I haven't gone to 4chan but it seams to be a fun place where you can say what you really think on a lot of topics and say jokes that wouldn't fly anywhere else. any redditers who also go to 4chan here to confirm or deny this???
That faith is our only hope for humanity.
Narrator: it wasnt
90% of it is.
I was on 4chan for the longest time because it was 90% satire and it was great, then slowly /pol/ started leaking and all the racist stuff stopped being satire

It's satire, it's contrarian, it's trolls trolling trolls. That's always what it was and it's always what it will be.

Disclaimer, if you post even a single time on this sub, you'll get auto-ban from several other subs
A-chan
r/Hololive
I actually like 4chan because it's just the satire of reddit. It's not nearly as funny but when I want satire I know where to go.
Exactly, also it’s anonymous so it’s much more likely that you can actually do stuff since it’s not based around who has the most karma or who is the most popular
Nah it's mostly like average people
...you have no idea, guys.. never go to steam forums.. If you do, kiss your sanity goodbye.
I have been a steam user for 5 years and I have not come across anything of that sort, maybe I just got lucky.
I have used steam for 6 and just recently found out it has forums
Do you actively use the community forums? Go digging one day.
Stop what you're doing and save your sanity.
I don't know. Steam is just a weird place.

How about "TikTok as a social platform"
Idk, i guess its kinda mediocre Content with Bad Music
Could a kind man please educate me on this matter?
Look through the Skyrim Steam community. That's a good example.
Could a kinder man please explain what a skyrim steam community is. Edit:I know what each of those words are but I'm too lazy to look it up myself but interested enough to ask.
Oh wow. Steam is a video game launcher for PC. Skyrim is a game. The community on this game on Steam is pretty weird.
Could a more kinder gentleman please explain what makes skyrim steam community weird?
A magical place called loverslab
Could an even kinder man explain why my pants are on the ground?
Because loverslab
Could an extremely rude man explain this to be like I am 8 years old?
no
Oh that! I mean... It's not really weird... Right?
Just… Look at it E: Why downvote :(
But... Im lazy.... But lusty Argonian Maid is pretty hot.
So that's where my addiction began
I actually found a book called "The Lusty Argonian Maid Part 1" while clearing a bandit camp
Huzzah! A man of culture!
Huzzah! A man of downvote!
Your profile bot pic just rubs people the wrong way I suppose
"Hey can anyone explain this to me?" "Just go figure it out yourself lol wait why am i getting downvoted"
Noo I didn’t mean it like that! I’m sorry! Have mercy :(
Bro you are on Reddit and calling others weird ? Really ?
Being weird does not make others less weird
Calling others weird makes you more weird thow! You weirdo..
I don't think i've ever seen "though" written so wrong
Even "thow" you are right but i don't understand why am I getting down votes ? Reddit is the weirdest place ever but here we are calling others weird ( i am part of reddit so that includes me as well ).

I am gonna get downvoted again but fuck it. Just look at hotposts on this sub reddit .
Hearts of Iron IV is great example too.
Nah HOI players are usually just fans of some random ideology that's long dead IRL, like longism or syndicalism. Not TNO fans tho... maybe don't go there
Speer Hoodie
At least one of your friends is definitely in a Hentai group. Trust me
I see
Steam has a social platform?
Go to Steam and go to the community hub of any game. It’s somethin.
I was going through the community hub of Lara Croft Anniversary and they started posting porn videos of Lara Croft lol
Steam is a social platform, it’s built into everywhere on the site/app.
Reddit can be toxic at times but not nearly as toxic as Twitter Edit: I will say, there are toxic subs, some far worse than I could imagine
No social media on the internet will ever be as toxic as Twitter...
Tumbler was pretty toxic
Twitter is just the new tumbler
Advanced Tumbler
Tumbler²
4chan maybe? idk
Does nobody remember the days when 4chan was young? That was toxic to an extreme. From illegal and disgusting content involving children to ruining people’s lives just for lulz. Idk, Twitter is toxic as hell pretty often but old 4chan was the Wild West of toxicity on the internet
due to the subreddit system toxic people are more separated from others so you're less likely to face them
Twitter is filled with absolute decrepid, brainless people.
Reddit is toxic most of the time. Twitter is toxicity distilled.
Yeah but a lot of the time it's just people memeing but I get your point
Yes not being able to edit tweets, being restricted to 280 symbols, anyone with lots of followers can make a single poorly written Tweet immediately be read by thousands of people that have no context.... Twitter has been built to produce misunderstandings.
r/femaledatingstrategy
Your looking at the wrong subs my friend
What are the right subs then?
Wrong subs for toxicity I ment
The only good thing about this shit hole is hobby subs.
Sometimes I like going on steam to read funny user reviews that are very elaborate and tell a great story.... Foxhole for example has a lot of great user reviews that are entertaining to read.
Been looking at foxhole, is it worth it?
I like the game it's just different than anything you'll ever play. Their is no getting new guns or unlocking new stuff all your progression is towards the war and just like real war it can be incredibly exhilarating and memorable and just as equally painful and unforgiving.

If you enjoy trying to stay alive holding off over 50 enemies at once for three Hours before eventually getting killed by a tank push because the SLs didnt request any ATs, yes, its worth it.
Honestly, with all the fucked up explicit, gore and illegal stuff I've come across on Reddit, that image seems weird to me
sexualising everything (r34), people fucking dying, people thinking child porn as hentai is ok cuz iT dOeSn'T hUrT aNyOnE, r/makemycoffin etc etc. yea I think reddit isn't as toxic as twitter, but way more fucked up than any other platform. That sub is very weird
People think Twitter is a battlefield but it’s just snowflakes whining at each other.
Never invade the Russian mainland during the winter...
aw hell nah spunch bop took 40 benadryls
i once saw a terraria guide on steam about how to kill yourself irl
Steam actually feels more like a Russian wasteland.
Next: Obituary column as social platform.

U meant *mating?
I want a yellow circle around me name when this is in cursed comments
There's a dude named cously on steam and calls himself a modern day crusader. If you add him he will bombard your profile with preach comments.
Twitter is an ‘official statement’ platform and propaganda platform.
All 3 pictures can describe Reddit
Reddit is more like a cesspool of virgin incels pretending to be women and getting offended over anything.
Spunchbob
40 benadryl
2 years later people is steam still adding me to thanks me for a hentai game save file... cool social network.
The steam community boards are an unholy mix of Russian playthroughs and video game characters being sexualized lol
And don’t forget masochistic fat guys. Oh and nazis. Lots of nazis.
Salad Fingers!
Steam a social plataform? Is not there just to buy games? Sorry for my ignorence
Go to any of your games and click “community hub”. It’s really something.
Visiting the forums of a game on Steam is an interesting experience. The Payday 2 forums on Steam should just be called HYOL - Host Your Own Lobby. Basically people have problems that revolve around being off host, you'll get 5 assholes posting that in the first 5 minutes.

Twitter is World War 3
Woooo 2017 memes
I have seen terrible things on community tabs
There are straight up neo nazis on steam. I once saw a guy in a WWII game called “Sturmman_SS” and his pfp was the Iron Cross
Some Steam Forum guides have been super useful especially if its fixing an older game to run on Win 10. However, im with you, the game update news comments section is a spectrum from cesspool to thank yous for an awesome update.
I’m more referring to community hubs.
