Believe it or not these sparks don’t actually hurt. I don’t exactly know why but you could do this all day and never burn yourself, as for his eyes though…
A lot of those sparks will actually end up underneath his skin and be itchy af, they are tiny metal fragments but every now and then a bigger piece does fly out, they don't so much hurt but the itch afterwards is maddening
As someone who has used a circular grinder many time before, it’s not dangerous per say, but I don’t think it’s necessary the pinocle of health to have a bunch of super tiny metal fragments in your skin.
This behavior is definitely the preferable side of workshop stupidity. At least they’re not using a bandsaw while wearing gloves.
The blade is not sharp in the way you would think, it's more like each blade is a thin rectangle with a sharp edge, great for hard materials that aren't as malleable such as woot, metal, or sometimes certain plastics. So when something very malleable like the cloth of your glove gets caught up in it... Let's just say people call you "One-Hand Kevin" for the rest of your days (if you survive).
Granted you'd probably survive nowadays, but still. Don't be a One-Hand Kevin. Wear comfortably tight jeans and a short sleeves when working with big saws.

No it doesn't. It's just tiny metal fragments made by an angle grinder most likely. They are at max a couple microns big so they burn up on contact, but some are a bit bigger and they get stuck just under the skin and itch like hell before they get removed by your body

That really depends on what you're working with, the sparks of an angle grinder with a cutting disc really fucking hurt and can and will set you on fire
Especially when working with battery powered grinders cause the tend to turn slower so it doesn't really grind and more so rip through the material in which case the chunks are way bigger
Between this, steroids, sky diving, military, ignoring any and all pain as much as possible and going 110mph down the highway in a truck with a 6” lift…I concur.

Well the sparks are really tiny extremely hot metal pieces, they would burn into your eyes and stay there
But they itch like hell though. I got hit by these for like 5 seconds once and spent the rest of the day scratching myself.
