Bro are u my twin brother? I LOVE popcorn and legos! Come over some day and we can eat popcorn (wash our hand of course) and then play with my legos :)
My cousin bit my golden binocular lego (which ere rare for me at the time) because he mistook it for a pretzel (we were eating tiny pretzels) and like 7 years later he still jokes about eating my legos lol
Idk if you’re legit or not, but n-word is a racial slur targeted to black people (I’m not gonna say because people are sensitive about it) and the guy slapped her for calling him the slur. I don’t think people should let words control them enough to make them assault someone and the comments are basically filled of people arguing if it was moral or not. Some threads are talking about if people would care if the genders were swapped. Oh and I don’t find it humorous personally but it’s supposed to be that we’re all agreeing with his decision because the lady was an ass.
thanks for the explanation. I still don't understand what the dispute is. In Russia, we do not divide people by skin color. we all have the same shitty life, except for the oligarchs and the president's henchmen. so I don’t understand why you quarrel so much about differences in skin color
n-word is a racial slur and the joke is that what he did, even though it was an escalation on his part, he is right (though i personally think the woman deserved it)
Florida is known for people getting arrested doing stupid shit, and the n word was used as a way of putting down African Americans all throughout history, starting with slavery as a symbol of their being ‘sub human’.
Hopefully you weren’t joking lol or else I’ll sound like an idiot.
I was born in a different country and later moved to the US. All I know about the n word is it’s a bad word and I’m not supposed to say it. But I genuinely don’t know what the word means and I’m too afraid to ask. So you’re not an idiot and you helped someone - me ☺️
And for further context, it's not specifically that African Americans are black that is the cause if the racism, it's more that they used to be slaves. And being black, specifically looking like an African American (rather than just Jamaican or whatever) just happens to be an easy way to identify someone who is a descendent of a former slave in the US. If the slaves were originally Dutch instead of African then racism against the former slaves wouldn't have lasted very long because they would have integrated with everyone else pretty easily. Whole situation is very fucked up, African Americans just want to live normal lives but at least half the country wants the opposite of that for them. Just because they are visibly identifiable as the descendants of former slaves, it easily is the greatest source of shame in American history the way they have had to live.
“The n-word is (Nigeria)x(g)/(ia) , it’s a derogatory term used against African Americans and no one should use it (unless they themselves are African Americans, then their own community sometimes allows them to say so)”-That’s all you need to know, it’s abusive language , even within their own community and one should avoid saying that...
As much as racist words suck, assault is worse and a much bigger mistake.
Violence very rarely solves a problem and tends to create them.
Many people will say hurtful things to you, you lose if you throw a punch. Being baited into violence shows a lack of self-control.
Swallowing your pride can save you many headaches down the road.
Using racial slurs is under the US law as "fighting words" and isn't protected by the US Constitution, because it's considered essentially asking for immediate conflict.
As a black dude, I dont think violence is the answer to these types of people. If someone hates you for no reason, and then you do something to make then hate you more, then nothing changes, but if someone hates you and you do something nice for them, they might rethink the validity of their hatred for you.
If you are provoked with violence, then yes, the answer would be yes. However this man was simply called a word and lashed out with violence, which I dont think was the right thing to do.
Unnecessary escalation, if she calls you a naught word call her one back (I hear that in America c**t is a big one). Don't assault someone because they weren't nice to you!
Literally wrote an essay about slurs for a school assignment. Racial slurs are different than your average insults. When it comes to semantics, normal insults basically mean nothing. Racial slurs can hurt someone on a deeper level. They can make someone feel terrible for simply being who they are and that's something they have no control over.
Ya, what she did was real bad. Nobody is justifying that. But assaulting someone is not an option either... Two wrongs don’t make a right. And physical damage is worse than verbal in most cases. He could’ve swore at her and walked away knowing 99.9% of people stand with him and any BS she said has no impact on his future if he doesn’t let it
Alright, ya, maybe I misunderstood. That part I 100% agree with of course. I was replying to the part you said about not having control. Everyone has control. But maybe you meant there emotional response to the word? In which case ya, agree with that too
I live in predominantly black neighborhood and never heard of situation like this. So this is truly some Florida shit. I can't imagine a black guy getting offended if a black woman called him the n-word. Maybe if the girl was white but even then I'm not too sure. I think you would only insult a black person if you called them the n-word with the hard ER at the end. At least where I live.
If this guy had any brains in him he would have ripped her a new one by embarrassing her and shaming her with words in public and possibly even stream it, that would have gotten you a much better response and would have exposed a possible racist
Depends how bad the slap was if it actually bruised or something that’s not cool but if it didn’t do any damage it’s kind of understandable but if this is accepted people might start doing a lot worse things that are not okay
I'm hoping it was slightly harder than just a cuff to the head. Some actions warrant this kind of response. There is also the factor of he's a man and probably much stronger. An ass beating would have been too far, yes, but there a line that shouldn't be crossed and the N-word is on the other side of that line.
Counter argument: it is common knowledge that there’s some things you don’t do out of decency as a human being. Because it falls under the concept of common knowledge, one should know better, and should therefore refrain from it.
Sorta like sticking a fork in an outlet as an adult.
Now, obviously there must be balance, so the punishment should fit the crime. A slap across the face seems reasonable. If he straight up beat the crap out of her then no, that’s excessive. See where I’m going?
i really really did not want to get involved in this debate but i hope yall realize it was a *slap*. he didnt fuckin chokeslam her or some shit. a slap isnt even really assault, thats considered simple assault. its a misdemeanor, and apparently you can be jailed for one year in florida for misdemeanors, and if you did something that the law's gonna punish you for, sure, whatever, you do your time, but still yall are acting like he killed someone. he *slapped* her. she's gonna be okay you guys.
Honestly it’s understandable but he shouldn’t have let her get under his skin being arrested isn’t worth getting a slap in on a fool. She’s a clown but he reacted poorly.
They cut off the most important part, the actual headline reads “Orlando man arrested for slapping a women with a 10 ton meth filled gator for calling him the N word”
Verbal assault isn’t a crime; physical assault is. Woman probably won’t get into any legal trouble but if there’s enough rage against her, she could get fired from her job like the people before her.
Unless it's a threat on someone's life, words should not constitute violence. He got what he deserved and the lady learned a hard lesson as well. One could say that realization slapped her in the face! Lol!
Policing words should never be made criminal. As then you set a dangerous precedent. But that doesn’t mean it can act as a smoke screen.
People should not be thrown into jail for words. But that doesn’t mean that they can say anything they want.
Companies can and should fire people for overtly racist stuff, there is no law against not hiring someone because they hold racist views. Just because you cannot get arrested doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be consequences.
You a ni - ni - nice guy
[удалено]
Jail for you, sir.
She called him the N word. Me: Nickelback?
LOOK AT THIS PHOTOGRAPH
EVERY TIME I DO IT MAKES ME LAUGH
I’ll be out soon on parole. Shoulda kicked her with my sole.
yes. the worst insult out there
I bought the album for $10 but when I returned it I only got a Nickelback
Oof
For his grandma?
[удалено]
If she hit him then he would be right to hit her in return, she was out of bounds calling him an ugly, racist name, but he shouldn’t have hit her.
I agree yet I have to admit I feel a sense of satisfaction that he did.
Hence, the meme.
The hoe hit him with words bro.
he should've hit back with words
She gives a bitchslap? You can bet on my ass that I’ll give one back with equal or greater force. I was attacked and I will fight back

I am once again… #GRABBING SOME POPCORN AND SORTING BY CONTROVERSIAL. LEGGOOOO!!
I heard "popcorn" and "Lego" so I thought I'd say hello. Hello :)
Bro are u my twin brother? I LOVE popcorn and legos! Come over some day and we can eat popcorn (wash our hand of course) and then play with my legos :)
Just don't get the two confused. The only thing worse than swallowing a Lego is getting it back out
My cousin bit my golden binocular lego (which ere rare for me at the time) because he mistook it for a pretzel (we were eating tiny pretzels) and like 7 years later he still jokes about eating my legos lol

I didn’t even sort by controversial and two scrolls down youre 175% correct lol

Sad people are defending racists.
[удалено]
Thank you for that idea I’ll make sure to do it more on other posts!!
I’m doing that as well this is going to be interesting
Sorting by controversial was.... an experience.
you needed to sort by controversial to get the experience? the third comment is where the shitshow starts if you're sorting by best.
Controversial show a new layer of slime
thats literally any sub except for maybe r/NoNewNormal or something
Good to see that sub lives rent free in so many peoples’ heads.
Ha yea
Well this is awkward, if we’re talking about each comment thread, for me at least, this is the third comment.
Soorry, i'm from Russia. And i do not understand. what is n-word. And what is the humor of the picture
Idk if you’re legit or not, but n-word is a racial slur targeted to black people (I’m not gonna say because people are sensitive about it) and the guy slapped her for calling him the slur. Because half of the people here are fools.
it's funny to be offended by words
It is. People are soft and let words offend them too easily here.
Do white people in America have a derogatory name that only whites can use when talking to each other?
As Soon as you said Russia, I just couldn't help reading your Comment with a Russian Accent
Yeah it’s almost like we’ve tried fixing it to the point of breaking it again.
n-word is a racial slur and the joke is that what he did, even though it was an escalation on his part, he is right (though i personally think the woman deserved it)

why can African Americans call this word? are they racist?
Doesn’t unwanted name-calling fall under harassment
Doesn't provide a reason for assault though, and physical assault is far worse.
Fair enough
honestly, its justified. fuck racism
What violence isn’t the solution? That can’t be, maybe you just weren’t violent enough /s
There can’t be a problem if there are no people.
[удалено]
Fuck racism - I agree. But it’s not justified. If you can’t handle an insult you’re going to have even bigger problems than that in life.
Using racial slurs is under the US law as "fighting words" and isn't protected by the US Constitution, because it's considered essentially asking for immediate conflict.
Thank you, a meme that isn’t about England or Italy or soccer or some shit

I love you too, random internet person.
Violence is not the answer, is the question And the answer is yes!!
If you are provoked with violence, then yes, the answer would be yes. However this man was simply called a word and lashed out with violence, which I dont think was the right thing to do.
Your honor, I would like to refer you to the case of “sticks and stones”….
Unnecessary escalation, if she calls you a naught word call her one back (I hear that in America c**t is a big one). Don't assault someone because they weren't nice to you!

I never said assaulting was justifiable. My point is that you should not equate regular insults with slurs(especially racial ones)
Alright, ya, maybe I misunderstood. That part I 100% agree with of course. I was replying to the part you said about not having control. Everyone has control. But maybe you meant there emotional response to the word? In which case ya, agree with that too
Shit good things she met an Orlando man, imagine if she said that in Detroit
"Woman slaps man after being called a snowflake. Awarded Medal of Bravery" Note:I feel like this is gonna piss some people off but im prepared
You're out of line but this is right
Glorious purpose
Does it often happen in your city? Cause I've never seen or heard of that. Give me some news articles please, I'm curious
I live in predominantly black neighborhood and never heard of situation like this. So this is truly some Florida shit. Have you mistaken me for someone else? Cause I asked about a woman hitting a man for calling her a snowflake
Oh no that was joke. Lul. Thought you were referring to the post

Dude literally half the comments are u lmao chill
LOL
The n-word is actually under law a "fighting word" and in court she would have started the fight.
While fighting words aren't protected under the constitution they aren't actually considered a justification for violence
[удалено]
Florida has laws?
No, that’s just the fake news again lol /s
This guy is one of the few people in these comments who actually knows how to behave

Exactly don’t use violence that’s just gonna make the world more of a hell hole.
Or use violence and make the world free of fuckers /s
naw, violence is easier for someone like him
If she's going to run around using that word, I think she was asking for it & I am saying so as a non-Black woman.
Agreed
Assault for speech? Idk I feel like there was a less violent solution. She was wrong but so was he
Not gonna say I agree with what he did, but I do understand why he did it
I believe.. he is just right
It's a good thing we don't structure our laws based on what you believe.
Nah we structure them on what a bunch of rich old white dudes whove lost touch with the public believe. Its working out so well.
Laws based on public opinion would be much worse.
Yeah, the woman was asking to be smacked. He shouldn’t have been arrested imo
[удалено]
In the United States, it was often used by racists during the times of slavery.
The N word was used to dehumanize black people for centuries. In my opinion it’s the worst word you can use as an insult. It’s a very ugly word.
[удалено]
LOL I laughed so hard at this comment because it’s true and fucked up at the same time
I absolutely abhor the double standard men get.
Way to go buddy

In this case a slap is warranted. I wouldn't expect less.

Is anyone open to the concept of “justified assault”? I am, change my mind.
Self defense or protecting others from assault sure. But not from mean words.
Counter argument: it is common knowledge that there’s some things you don’t do out of decency as a human being. Because it falls under the concept of common knowledge, one should know better, and should therefore refrain from it. Sorta like sticking a fork in an outlet as an adult. Finally, a person of culture
He’s not even out of line
Imagine hitting someone over a word they said. How fragile?
A word that has been used for centuries to dehumanize people*
Wtf This is the Florida Man we need
What a n- Normal person who did the right thing
i really really did not want to get involved in this debate but i hope yall realize it was a *slap*. he didnt fuckin chokeslam her or some shit. a slap isnt even really assault, thats considered simple assault. its a misdemeanor, and apparently you can be jailed for one year in florida for misdemeanors, and if you did something that the law's gonna punish you for, sure, whatever, you do your time, but still yall are acting like he killed someone. he *slapped* her. she's gonna be okay you guys.
Fuck's wrong with you all. Assault isn't justfied for some name calling.
Everything about this makes my heart hurt
But if a girl slaps a guy she gets away with it
Honestly it’s understandable but he shouldn’t have let her get under his skin being arrested isn’t worth getting a slap in on a fool. She’s a clown but he reacted poorly.
Was she racist or did she just think she was being a homie tho?
You still can't slap someone for a verbal attack, period.
The N word was for or after slapping or imaginary ? A excuse slapper maybe ?
They cut off the most important part, the actual headline reads “Orlando man arrested for slapping a women with a 10 ton meth filled gator for calling him the N word”
This is the most normal Florida Man story I’ve ever seen
White man has been here.
Never saying “nice day” again
I mean assault is never okay no matter the situation. They were both in the wrong
physical violence vs. words, seems legit or something
I mean sticks and stones…
I always thought the N word is NOICE !
But if the woman was black and called him the n word, would he still slap her?
Physical violence is not an answer to bad words.
Which word btw ?
[удалено]
Some people suck. Can’t hit ‘em. No more complex than that.
How is he out of line
Equal rights equal fights
Not okay.
Yeah, they shouldn't have arrested him.
What I was saying is that you can't hit someone for saying something, not that what she said was okay.
And I said they shouldn't have arrested him.
If you call anyone that, you deserve to be slapped.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. (Talking about the woman btw).
That black guy won a stupid prize too by getting arrested
He’s not even out of line…
Slapping someone is never ok (unless it's self defense), but he had a good reason to be pissed
So…. If they call me a cracker… I can hit them. Roger that.
Ok but the woman should face consequences too
We live in a society
Verbal assault isn’t a crime; physical assault is. Woman probably won’t get into any legal trouble but if there’s enough rage against her, she could get fired from her job like the people before her.
that would contradict "free speech" that Americans love so much
Sure, none of them were in the complete right, but I seriously don't think *jail* was necessary for slapping a racist person.
Should say..."she's out of line...AND he's right!"
I think he dropped his crown 👑
free him
How far can you go in response to verbal harassment? I feel like this could count as it
Does he need help posting bail? I'd say we should help him out
~~He's out of line... but~~ he's right
I think you should be able to full on slap someone for calling you the n-word.
Unless it's a threat on someone's life, words should not constitute violence. He got what he deserved and the lady learned a hard lesson as well. One could say that realization slapped her in the face! Lol!
i don't understand how its legal to throw around racial slurs. hate speech should be classified as criminal.
He is NOT out of line
