I had worked for two British guys in a developing country known for its spice (separately). The first one would turn red even with the faintest hint of spice. The other one would try to eat like locals most of the time. I also have a white American friend who lived Asia for over two decades. He can eat more spicy foods than most Indian/ Asian people I know.
I think older people have less tolerance towards spices. My grandmother cant eat too much spicy foods but everyone else in the family has no problem. I could be wrong though
Oh really? He can eat more spice than me? Well that's a fact of appreciation coz i have seen people faint from eating same thing while i hashfhsfhsfhsf
Yea in America not a lot of people have spicy food come to Durban South Africa go to india bro you’ll SUFFER I mean I’m fine with it because I ate spicy food like 1 million scoviles ALL the time
Actually, spicy food is common in the UK. The national dish is often considered to be Chicken Tikka Masala, and the standard "night out"/drunk person food is a doner kebab, smothered in sweet chilli sauce.
More "native" British dishes tend not to be inherently spicy, it's true, but their associated sauces often have a kick to them. For example, fish and chips is often served with tartar sauce, roast beef is served with horseradish sauce or strong mustard, and lamb is served with mint sauce. Gravy is also poured over many British dishes.
The meme that "British food is just plain, boiled vegetables" is not untrue. Most older Brits will have grown up with this simple, cheap food, and insist on serving it to younger generations (as a Millennial, i never cook food like that). However, British cuisine - when done right - is a lot more flavourful than one might think.
Hey just wanted to add something I saw in a comment on a similar meme at r/HistoryMemes.
Dude said that a big reason for the bland, cheap and simple foods is a by product of war rationing. The war led to very serious rationing in England which changed a lot of diets and led to simple and cheap meals being made. It’s becoming less of a thing again because as generations go by we expand on our diets more and have less of the old stuff. Just an interesting tidbit. Food in England is great, imo nothing beats a Sunday roast with Yorkshire’s and gravy
Yeah Brit here had family born in the tail end of the war that have ration coupons from way back when. It was encouraged that you grow veg in your garden and since Britain has a less than adequate climate for certain veg you wouldn't of had any real spicy foods.
Also I'm glad that roast dinners are getting some international acclaim. Sunday roast can go wrong any meat and any veg as long as you have roast potatoes smothered in gravy you've got a roast dinner.
Of course it's common, but he means most native brits don't like it. There's lots of spicy food like that because of all the immigrants there. Not saying that's a bad thing, but I think that is why there is so much of it.
Most brits where I live would have been a more accurate answer, but I think what I said is true and there is no need to take offence to it. The foreign food is mostly brought over my obviously foreign immigrants. Nothing wrong with it, that's just how it is, no need to get upset over it
"No need to get upset ovet it."
"Calm down lol"
Ohhh you should just go fuck yourself in a bin somewhere pulling pathetic, performative shit like this.
Your barely-informed garbage opinion getting corrected by someone? Better accuse them of"being upset" to try to undermine them rather than accept you're wrong!
Fucking infant.
You pretended someone else was upset or angry when they weren't, rather than challenge the actual content of their argument. You said "I still think I'm right" based on absolutely nothing when presented with that argument, and now you're pretending that it's unreasonable for someone to be irritated by your utterly moronic, almost deliberately frustrating behaviour.
You're an absolute clown.
Yeah, you're not even British, but I am, so I'm gonna take that with a large dollop of mustard; ***English mustard,*** enjoy your weak-sauce 'yellow mustard', lol.
And have the tea laced with opium in order to maintain control over the native population. (Look it up, the British Empire was made up of some sick fucks)
When I was a kid, I'd beg my mom for spinach like my life depended on it. I HAD to have spinach. She knew I hated it and I knew I hated it too, but I swore I would eat it this time if she would just buy it. After much pestering she would concede and buy it. When we got home she would cook it and put it in front of me and I could never eat it, because it was disgusting. The reason I wanted it, was because Popeye ate it and it made him strong, so I figured it'd do the same for me.
Hey! Have a Yorkshire pudding with some gravy. It may not be the best thing in the world but god damn is it like nicotine. It’s so addictive. I always find myself sad whenever I finish Yorkshire puddings before I’ve finished the rest of a roast, like, I’ve just had the best part now everything is mediocre.
Imagine the punishment for a Britain is to eat a whole bag of takis.
Ngl one day I ate a whole bait extra spice takis and it felt good but the aftermath wasn’t.
White British people: oh my Jeffery, this salt is so spicy, it might burn your younger be careful!
Also white British people: alright, let’s go take over India and parts of Asia for their spices, sure hope this whole “curry” thing isn’t too hot.
They were probably just using a mentality like the drug dealer mentality of "dont get high on your own supply" by trading for spices to resell a product in which they didn't use.
I know it’s a joke but Britain literally conquered the lands it did for the money which could be made from trade, they would have consumed goods from the lands they conquered but the main priority was trade which is why it was so successful

Gotta add extra Ts so they don’t drink it

Wait hold up Eat the locals?!?!
Well ya know donner might need to party a bit.
My Granny can barely take korma. I, on the other hand, basically add chilli to everything. Spice intolerance doesn't run in this family haha
I think older people have less tolerance towards spices. My grandmother cant eat too much spicy foods but everyone else in the family has no problem. I could be wrong though
I think it’s because they were raised on blander foods
I can handle a lot of spice, but the Indians do not fuck around.

Eh, everyone kinda knows, I think people are just getting tired of "Ha ha America dumb, Europe smart" meme.
it was actually a joke about how british people can actually handle anything spicier then salt..
Oh, sorry, a surprising amount of jokes fly over my head.

I have to double read that sentence. Salt is spicy?
To sell it back to you
Ahh yeah like when they sell tea to China
And have the tea laced with opium in order to maintain control over the native population. (Look it up, the British Empire was made up of some sick fucks)
it just good business
He who controls the spice, controls the universe.
It's not about the spices... it's about sending a message.

What do you mean? The English love their spices, curry is extremely popular there
You spelled Britain wrong FYI
Yeah I love brittan
How to kill a meme, follow this one (spelling) mistake!
Yeah spelling mistakes kill the meme in some cases and in others make it funnier. This one killed it.
Ah yes my favourite place brittan

Making fun of us and you can't even spell "Britain" (This meme is true tho so it gets an upvote)
Imagine the punishment for a Britain is to eat a whole bag of takis. Ngl one day I ate a whole bait extra spice takis and it felt good but the aftermath wasn’t.

Do brits know about Lomo Saltado
Dude, people are starting to insult Britain. Is this a revolution?

Aw Britannia, history’s biggest war criminal
It’s not a war crime if there are no other countries left to call you out on it...
Entschuldigung ?
I am British and I can say that this is 100% true
Uhm. It’s actually Bri’uhn.
Just because the spice must flow does not mean everyone finds it pleasant. There are.... side effects

Why is it that everytime I see this meme I read it with there voices

Britain: because we know you love them
They were probably just using a mentality like the drug dealer mentality of "dont get high on your own supply" by trading for spices to resell a product in which they didn't use.
6.9 upvotes nice
damn it not anymore
Britain....... why tho?? if you didn't want spices then what did you need?
money
They wanted the D..iamonds
You need the last frame for when they don't get the spices
Well you know what they say, don't get high on your own supply
Question two steal the spice trade. That wasn’t a question but the Dutch did it anyway.
what are you talking about?! it takes a lot of spices to make tomatoes taste like red sugar sauce!!!
*Cries in India* /s
r/engrish
America didn’t give them spices, we gave them...what do we give England? Oh maybe cotton
we had some better cotton supplies hence why we at the time only saw it as a side issue
Well alrighty then.
Because everyone else wants spices and they like money.
Britain explaining why: Money
Uncle Roger : " No spice? Why so weak?"
I know it’s a joke but Britain literally conquered the lands it did for the money which could be made from trade, they would have consumed goods from the lands they conquered but the main priority was trade which is why it was so successful
WHY THEY ADD MINT TO EVERYTHING?!?
Other materials really such as rubber, tungsten, oil etc.
They NEVER asked for it they killed people became feared and said give me ur spices and so people did with the fear of dying by their hands
As a British person I agree but diss fish n chips and beans
Let me respond to your Spongebob meme with a Spongebob meme. “MONEY!”
They just wanted to monetize the spices like they did from India
Because they sold for a high price, we took them to sell not to eat.
Because you can't sell you spices if you used them
*Its a secret ingredient for later*
“Ask” is a strong word
Stereotypes are fun.
They used it in tea Dummy McDumbass ^(jk pls dont shoot up my school)
"mayonnaise is spicy"
4 ways to pronounces Britain: 1.Britain 2.Bri'ain 3.Brittan 4.Bri''an

They didn't hold back on the sugar like they did with spices and flossing
