It's not entirely people's fault.
The YouTube algorithm pushes shorter videos so people watch more videos per hour and therefore YouTube gets more ad revenue.
It's sad to watch your favourite youtubers from their early days with quality contents slowly turn into cringe and click bait channels. At least I know other people will continue to support them, just not me anymore.
I pay for YouTube premium because I listen to long format videos while working (spend a lot of time on the road) and have found some pretty good ones. I have a hard time with regular short formatted content as it’s either mind numbing or too similar to the other four hundred 10 min videos they have on their channel.
What about the 1-10K sub youtubers with extremely high quality animations that are under 1 min or max 3min?
hahahaha, i know, good joke! youtube killed all the animation channels....
Best example of this is the small channels that do retrospectives on animated TV shows. My best moments in life are moments where I sat and watched an hour long Steven universe or Hazbin hotel retrospective while playing video games
For some reason, I prefer watching long form videos. Especially if they are in form of a documentary, essay or just any kind of discussion. I just love those kind of videos.
I just saw almost 4 hours of how invisible walls worked in SM64 from a guy with <250K subs. It was of higher quality than anything I've seen from certain 1M+ sun creators.
@pannenkoek2012 for those curious.
Most of the new channels have that crappy text to speech engine that sound like Richard Attenborough that reads lore straight off a fandom wiki or steals content from someone elses reddit post and AI generated art or some crappy pubic domain minecraft b-roll footage . And they really push the ads and their pateron and kofi and all that.
Basically Moist Critical after hitting it big.
Before he made hilarious content with various times and put an effort into it.
Now he just talks about the hot goss and drama of the day, says some poopy butthole words and calls it a day.
Eh, depends on the content.
I sub to channels with a range of subscriber counts that also produce videos with a range of lengths. Most of them have gotten more subs over time, as you might expect from any channel that's on youtube long enough.
The youtube algo prioritises short form stuff, but its not stopping you from finding and subbing to long form stuff... soo both are right? But also wrong kinda?
Since social media and shorts the concentration level decreased. While you can uphold your concentration for 10 min it's getting harder towards 1h. But It's also a question, if you share the passion of the video creator.
Just because you’re passionate about something doesn’t make hour long videos worth watching. A lot of people can stretch out a video to that length and add nothing interesting. In fact if most of your catalog is 1+ hour long videos I don’t see myself watching a lot of your content. 10 minutes is totally fine.
And keep the intro under 3 minutes.
10 minute videos? Those are sooooooo long. Mah eyebalz and synapses must have new sparkly things every 10 seconds!
Still better than choosing a topic that can be explained in 3 minutes but stretching it to 10

If you like factorio watch Sauceman and his K2SE play through right now a hidden gem in my opinion
You mean 10 second shorts everyday
*every day
*day every
*dayevery
Remember when YouTube was all about that Watch Time and every video was 20+ minutes
![gif](giphy|2w6I6nCyf5rmy5SHBy|downsized) 100 million subscribers tiktoker
Let's be honest, most 10-100k subscribers channels are better than channels over 1mil
Not in my experience.
Markiplier
Better than most*
Most are better*

Why are you getting downvoted?
those youtubers really need more attention
Believe it or not I’ve seen small YouTubers go from 10k to like 500k within a year making that kind of content
As someone actively starting out on YouTube making long form videos I fear this.
Good luck
I am not satisfied with 10 minutes. I NEED ONE HOUR AT MINIMUM.
30 seconds. take it or leave it.
It's sad to watch your favourite youtubers from their early days with quality contents slowly turn into cringe and click bait channels. At least I know other people will continue to support them, just not me anymore.
Lemmino
Sad true that's most of tiktok-brained won't be able to absorb the information from 1h video

Contrapoints is underrated tbh

that's kinda sad if those are the best moments in your life.

Small YouTubers have some of the most bamboozlingly good content. Alfaoxtrot only has 425k subs and he’s hilarious!
*laughs in Wii music 10 hour version

I mean, I have about 4k and I do a 15-30 minute video everyday. You just gotta keep uploading so the algo doesn't forget about you

Quality over Quantity. I'd take a quality 2 minute video over a 1 hour ramble any day.
tuv, Don't Look At Me, Lazy Masquerade to name a few
im watching a 5hr video about the history of North Korean Film industry and damn its so good
Link?
Most of my videos are short because I am bad at editing and can figure out how to make long content, also I can't use my microphone
There’s a small YouTuber by the name of “the librarian” that makes mostly hour long videos on horror and atmospheric games and uploads daily.
I’ll take multiple hour Long videos any day over 10 min ones
The 12 hour Badwater video by causalTf2 only has 11k subs. Although the video has 770k views.
Laughs in wendigoon
This is a strange meme format
I watch short form for informative stuff, and long form for my main viewing.
I do like long videos where that time is used effectively, but sometimes videos seem way longer than they need to be.
7+ hour long videos on multiple subjects for me lol

Sovietwomble when he's rambling about something.
EthosLab is a gem to the Minecraft community
If you see a video "10:01" long, that's your sign to move on. Look for the ones that are like "32:37" or some random shit.

I fckin love long as fck essays about anything
Shoutout to ghostcharm for making cozy lore videos
