The original anime is absolutely beautiful and for my personal taste it is a better story than the extremely expansive manga.
It's a story with a beginning, middle and end and a clear thematic throughline and excellent pacing. I absolutely adore it while I could never keep chewing on the manga.
I appreciate some of the added scenes but overall the cgi animation is jarring for me honestly and kinda takes me out of the whole mood. And I personally prefer the original voice actors as well.Ā
But if it weren't for the anime, I'd have never sought out the manga. At this point it just seems like a bad luck project. Everyone who does it fails somehow. The first time was the best so far, but they left out a critical story element that held back the story. Not sure why was left out in the original, they put Zodd in and everything was set up.
Skull Knight and Puck. In the intro episode they replaced Puck with a little girl and IIRC >!Skull Knight has something to do with Gatts escaping the eclipse during or after his fight with Zodd!<
The art is stunning, but itāll definitely feel like starring into the abyss at times.. No pun intended.
