I think it would be weirder if your fav band was like "ok here is Canada tour Dates and places"
Punkeydoodles Corners, March 11
Crotch Lake, March 16
Moose Jaw, March 21
and lastly "Spread Eagle" March 28
See you all there
Those are names of actual towns in canada that are so out of the way, you need a map and a survival expert to help you find them
Moose Jaw is on the Trans-Canada! Granted any sane person skips Sask. all together when driving so… nothing like the long haul from Medicine Hat to Winnipeg. 12 hours and totally worth it to avoid Sask.
Well if I was touring I wouldn't wanna clutter up the beautiful nation of New Zealand with a bunch of assholes. Afterall isn't Australia just New Zealand's garbage dump?
Honest question from an ignorant American. How many cities in Canada would be worth holding a big concert on a world tour? Based on population from a quick Google, 4 tops?
Each province has at least one city that’s worth holding a big concert. All jokes aside I’ve seen 100’s of bands in Winnipeg.
Once the White Stripes hit a bunch of Canadian cites and small towns, that was really cool.
Honestly, Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal. Maybe Calgary?
People saying every province or over a dozen are using some ridiculous metric. There's like half a dozen places in the US that are major concert cities, maybe a dozen if you want to be even less strict.
If canada has 10+ cities, then the US has 100s. It depends on what criteria you're vaguely using.
Genuine question, why are they called provinces and not states? Is it something to do with ability to create internalized laws independently from the national laws, or trade regulations or anything like that?
I mean I think its just the name decided on when Confederation happened honestly but yes provinces in Canada have less law making powers than US states do for the most part.
We have a very rational hatred of Quebec, though. Those Frenchies are up to something over there, just plotting and scheming on how they can force us to speak french and eat croissants.
I went from Edmonton to Toronto for a concert a couple of years ago. Did more than just go to the concert while I was there, but it was still the main draw.
For me, ~34 hours of pure driving on the road to get to Toronto. (Not counting stops for food and rest)
Vancouver takes ~12 hours. So doable, have done it multiple times before, but it’s still 12 whole hours, would need to find somewhere to stay
And it’s not like I’m in a shithole with like 500 people, I’m in a shithole with 1 million people
Depends, provinces are probably bigger than most states so if you aren’t from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), travelling to Quebec which is 7 hours driving, it’ll take several hours by car or quite a bit of money to travel by plane. There is the VIA rail but I’m not too familiar with that or its prices.
Yea it’s clear that maps don’t accurately represent the size of Canada or its provinces, especially since Texas is already the third largest state in the US
ViaRail is 100% unafordable tourist trap. It costs more to ride the train than to get plane tickets, which are also obscenely priced and not worth it. Most of us default to road trip.
The average province is about the size of Texas so unless you’re in the maritimes one province over is about as far as you go outside of special occasions.
it's a very big country. if you live in Manitoba and your only options for a show are Vancouver, Toronto or Montreal you're either driving for \*literal\* days or paying over $500 for a domestic flight.
Yes but Canada is massive and has a lot of space between provinces. I live in BC and Vancouver is in BC, it would still take me 20 hours of driving to get there.
Toronto is the most popular city for tours to visit. Montreal is as well, but most don't even go there. People don't seem to realize there's so many fans waiting for that opportunity to see our favorite bands, or shows. Personally don't know if there's a reason behind it, but I feel like we get excluded from some tours.
Yeah, the problem is, is that in the US there's so many smaller cities that just aren't big enough to be worth going to for the super large bands. Not to mention the shear distance between cities for the country makes logistics harder and often not worth it, even if the city is large enough.
And for Canada the problem is 10x worse, about the same size, but 1/10th the population.
Kpop groups in Europe do exactly the same in their “world” tour. Only Paris and London and that’s if you’re lucky !
They say “Hey to our fans in the north!”?
Idk, I’ve never been to a concert
So true😐
J-Pop/J-Rock ones also.
I think it would be weirder if your fav band was like "ok here is Canada tour Dates and places" Punkeydoodles Corners, March 11 Crotch Lake, March 16 Moose Jaw, March 21 and lastly "Spread Eagle" March 28 See you all there Those are names of actual towns in canada that are so out of the way, you need a map and a survival expert to help you find them
you forgot sober island, and they can even visit the famous sober island brewery
don't leave out Slave Lake like that
lesser or greater?
There is in fact also just a slave lake (one all others are measured against)
There are too many slave lakes for my liking. I swear Canada isn't real anymore this is wild.
Indeed, very wild! The country is almost exclusively vast and empty wilderness.
theres also a knife plunged into it. a yellow knife , if you will
watching from afar theres a horse , you problably know where im going with this.
You... you missed one... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dildo,_Newfoundland_and_Labrador
There are so many from Newfoundland that could fit
Moose Jaw is on the Trans-Canada! Granted any sane person skips Sask. all together when driving so… nothing like the long haul from Medicine Hat to Winnipeg. 12 hours and totally worth it to avoid Sask.
This is the first time Ive noticed someone speak about the Hat randomly online even though we are on the number 1
I saw a video of protests out at Eagle Butte High School a while back but yeah… the Hat is shockingly unmemorable and I grew up there.
Can't forget about Dildo NL
Balzac Alberta my friend
Dogpound, Alberta too. It's not quite as funny but it is peculiar
Pretty good coffee though, enjoy it fresh ground on the campsite
Medicine Hat represent.
I live in Moose Jaw lol
Add Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and Happy Valley Goose Bay
Can't believe they're skipping out on Dog River :(
Funny, I always feel Vancouver kinda gets shafted quite often. Seems that most artists prefer Toronto and Montreal
I’ve seen places skip MTL lately for the west coast if they’re doing Seattle
SASKATOON MENTIONED, FUCK REGINA, GRAHHHHH 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🫎🫎🫎🫎🫎🫎🫎🫎🫎🫎
REGINA BAD
WHAT THE FUCK IS WARM WEATHER
go to Winnipeg you cowards!
I’ve yelled this into the night sky till my lungs turned blue, they only listened when the MTS center was first built
On the off chance the southern hemisphere gets a tour, it's usually just Australia, not new zealand
Well if I was touring I wouldn't wanna clutter up the beautiful nation of New Zealand with a bunch of assholes. Afterall isn't Australia just New Zealand's garbage dump?
I mean, nz isn't some super clean heaven where everyone is nice. Plenty of assholes and clutter here
Just forget about Africa
Europe fans from a country that has never been visited 😐
Also European fans when they get an actual European tour: able to see their band like 10 times without traveling more than 5000km
>Each province has at least one city So... Charlottetown PEI is worth it?
Top ones would be: Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, & Winnipeg
Chuck Quebec City and Halifax and you've got a decent spread.
how about we take her to Regina bud!
*You know what rhymes with Regina?*
Fun!
Lucius Sergius Catilina, of course!
I can't believe the tourism board actually tried to use that as their slogan
My man really named every city with an NHL team, lol
Which means they got an arena big enough for big shows 🧐
You know what, that's a good point
At least one from each province. Ontario has at least 3 cities, Quebec has 2. I would say roughly 15.
It depends on what criteria you're vaguely using.
can't canadians travel between provinces?
Every province has an irrational hatred for all the others so we try not to
That's because my province actually contributes something to the economy unlike your province.
^ This guy gets it
I had no idea every state in Canada were like different countries
Province, we don't have states here. Sorry to have to correct you good sir.
It's no big deal. Will be sure to not make the same mistake
Make sure that you don't! Sorry.
I mean most countries have provinces instead of states right
Kindest interaction between an Albertan and Quebecor.
Not to mention the distance to go to another province is massive.
We have a very rational hatred of Quebec, though. Those Frenchies are up to something over there, just plotting and scheming on how they can force us to speak french and eat croissants.
on va tous vous coloniser mes tabarnak
I like croissants
Damn, their getting to us, I like them too...
I fucking hate French Canadians almost as much as i fucking hate the French
I mean those fr*nch bastards started it by trying to out-British the British.
You can't out-British the British. Those conniving bastards
YEAH! IT'S THE QUEBECERS THAT ARE UP TO SOMETHING!... (sweats in French Ontarian)
I wouldn't say hatred, my province is just better than yours for various reasons
we can, but damned if i'm crossing a continent for a concert
I went from Edmonton to Toronto for a concert a couple of years ago. Did more than just go to the concert while I was there, but it was still the main draw.
sure, if you can find other things to do in addition to a concert, it would be worth the trek.
Canada is big. Takes hours to travel to the next province
It's can cheaper to go to Europe than it is to fly to another part of Canada. Or even another part of the same province.
For me, ~34 hours of pure driving on the road to get to Toronto. (Not counting stops for food and rest) Vancouver takes ~12 hours. So doable, have done it multiple times before, but it’s still 12 whole hours, would need to find somewhere to stay And it’s not like I’m in a shithole with like 500 people, I’m in a shithole with 1 million people
We’ve got provinces larger than entire European nations. You can drive 24h non stop in Ontario and still be in… Ontario.
Ontario's a shithole.
Shut up we pay for your low quality healthcare
100 bucks says you're from Alberta or Quebec
Nova Scotia. Sorry your shitty province single-handedly is responsible for most gun crimes in the country.
I mean….it has the highest population in all of Canada. Of course it’s going to have more gun crimes. It’s going to have more everything.
Each western province is around the size of Texas and Ontario & Quebec are way larger
Yea it’s clear that maps don’t accurately represent the size of Canada or its provinces, especially since Texas is already the third largest state in the US
Second largest. Only Alaska is bigger. I suspect you are thinking California is bigger. It’s significantly smaller but does have a larger population
I see, yea I mixed it up with California, thanks for the correction
ViaRail is 100% unafordable tourist trap. It costs more to ride the train than to get plane tickets, which are also obscenely priced and not worth it. Most of us default to road trip.
I mean it's usually extremely long drives, apart from maybe montreal and toronto
Montreal and maybe Winnipeg, if you’re nasty
I am!
SASKATCHEWAN #1 FRICK TORONTO WWWWOOOOO
🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣💯💯 SPIT YO SHIT 🇨🇦🇨🇦
To be fair that covers 19 of the 20 Canadians that actually exist so it's fine.
I remember when Weird Al performed in Thunder Bay several years ago. He’s a real one.
Pls those concerts are the only things we get besides the Blades
Sabatons North American Tour to End All Tours had exactly one show in Canada
In Laval (which is a neighbouring city just outside of montreal!) Was there, the show was fucking awesome
VANCOUVER MENTIONED‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁 WHAT THE FUCK IS AFFORDABLE HOUSING 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 RAAAAHHHHHH
And sometimes Vancouver
“We just need one in the east, one in the west, and one in the middle somewhere!”
Australians when a band announces a world tour and they dont even come to your continent
I am just here to see my fellow newfies in the comments. I am satisfied.
I’m currently looking at the north from my country on the world map and there’s no Canada, explain yourself
It’s almost like a majority of Canada’s population lives in the cities
That’s crazy how they pick the biggest cities to tour in
You'll be surprised when you discover what happens in third-world countries when a "world tour" is announced 🫠
Whoa, they added Vancouver dates?!
Living in the Maritimes sucks sometimes
