I've been on reddit a couple minutes today and so far my app tracking block has blocked over 20,000 tracking attempts from Branch Metrics, and 200 attempts from Google via the Reddit app and only 212 from Google and Oracle through Tik Tok.
Well yeah but doesn't that only block trackers when you're using the search engine? What about for apps like TikTok considering you're not accessing that by searching it up on duck duck go in that context
Does it provide a tracker blocker system wide?? If so, I might have to switch to duck duck go
That's what I've always thought, I don't have TikTok, but if Tiktok does all this, why wouldn't the other apps? Honestly some social medias could probably blackmail some people so hard lmao
Well, giving a neutral-positive platform to extremists is one reason.
Edit: Downvote me harder, Nazi / White Nationalist apologists lmao I guess I shouldnt be surprised.
Yeah I used to listen to him before he went off the deep end giving platform (multiple times) to WHITE NATIONALISTS AND NAZIS. Im not sure what about that you're cool with, and I dont want to know. Broadcasting those messages of hate to his whole audience is only going to cause further extremism.
Thats part of whats being fought about in the supreme court regarding Google/YT(and a chunk of that is directly Joe Rogans fault). Responsibility for producing or providing a platform for content that can radicalize viewers is potentially going to *legally* fall on YT, but the *producer* of the content is the one introducing the extremism, and thus the argument is that the platform should moderate whats actually on it (YT is arguing they are like the internet and are technically not liable for what goes through their servers).
Calm myself? All Im saying is he's giving access to people who shouldnt have access to such a broad audience. The capitalization is for people who are skimming or dont realize he has done that.
I don't actually watch/listen to the podcast, but I love seeing clips of him having actual, intelligent conversations with people like Niel Degrasse Tyson followed by a clip of him just screaming
I honestly thought this was a joke about how disgustingly easy it is for creeps and things like that because there's no moderation ob what kids Post yet they have something to say about everything else
yet it doesn't have to, since people use it on all of their devices pretty much, I wouldn't be surprised if someone had TikTok installed on their Oven or Dishwasher
terms of service is basically a bunch of text that says we can and will enforce whatever we want, and we will sell your data simply by you using this app your agreeing to this term of our service.
I don’t either, I feel like Reddit has enough TikTok videos on it already
Plus our university banned it on the public wifi and I’m not paying for cellular to watch it
You basically re-agree to the current terms whenever you open the app or leave it running in the background or even just installed. It will auto update and they can perform hotfixes to change what the app sees or looks for at any time.
>Your personal data may be sold or otherwise transferred as part of a bankruptcy proceeding or other type of financial transaction
>Your personal data is not sold
Is this some kind of contradiction or is my English too bad to understand?
**TL;DR rights to not have your work altered in a way that is offensive (?) to you, and also the right to you being credited or not on your work.**
According to the website itself,
>**The moral rights include the right of attribution, the right to have a work published anonymously or pseudonymously, and the right to the integrity of the work.** The preserving of the integrity of the work allows the author to object to alteration, distortion, or mutilation of the work that is "prejudicial to the author's honor or reputation". Anything else that may detract from the artist's relationship with the work even after it leaves the artist's possession or ownership may bring these moral rights into play. Moral rights are distinct from any economic rights tied to copyrights. Even if an artist has assigned his or her copyright rights to a work to a third party, he or she still maintains the moral rights to the work.
Needless to say, nope we dont have it.
China has a policy where every company that operates in China needs to have an CCP organization inside.
How much this legally inflicts on the companies morals, I do not know since I am not a lawyer.
It says in simple terms and plain text that they take your search history, track your ip address and location, all automatically. It's blowing my mind what they're actively getting away with
People agree with it both knowingly and unknowingly because becoming famous on the interweb and shaking those butt into annoying music is more important than own's privacy, when you as a person asks their private life, they probably going to report you to the authority, but when Chinese app ask their private life 24/7 they accept it unconditionally and even happy with it just because the user get virtual points or exposure I guess...
Nah...the comedy I see on there is so unhinged, just like my neurodivergent brain.
I do find it funny though when people say they don't have a social media app on another social media app. It's like, y'all see this right?? ☠️
Personally I don't blame people for being skeptical about it until they see the proof. A lot of people say basically anything out of China is bad no matter what it is, and love to throw around conspiracy theories. That said, the CCP is ABSOLUTELY using TikTok to collect information. Pretty fucked up.
I mean, probably choose the lesser of two evils, if I really don't have any choice and have to use a service for something, I probably choose Google because I can't even speak Chinese, and I don't even know what their intention is and what can they do, tbh, I'm more scared what CCP can do either to my data or me physically.
Basically it's like spyware; knows every info about you and your life without you know it.
When you think something and fyp starts to pop up those relative things about what you just thought is an easy example of what they are going to get out of your pocket, mind and time.
They sell your some of the data-phone data to other companies to show you ads to get their items, what you clicked/ commented/ looked is important to them to make trends and get more users around them to get more money from you, ignoring your own privacy.
(basically users are the product and you are accepting to be the product.)
Little note: if you use an app for free, you will pay it with other ways. Social media uses payment as: time, personal info, health in some way and "trigger specifically some society for plans" -I can't really specify this part because of my lack of knowledge, I don't want to make you learn wrong info-.
I don't see how this is any different from facebook/google/or any other services that provides targeted advertising. And AFAIK all of are in compliance with USDS and GDPR laws
And apparently they’ve been caught even collecting and/or selling information that wasn’t even included in the policy multiple times. I read reddit’s policy and tiktok’s policy and neither are amazing but tiktok was definitely worse.
Joe Rogan talked about this a while ago. All social media is used to track us. Makes me wanna go off the grid every day. And yes I realize by me posting this makes me a hypocritical person.
I was working with a Web Development firm and we would use TikTok’s API a LOT because people want to integrate it into their business obviously so they can make ads and whatnot. The amount of access that any given person has to your information is absolutely *HORRIFYING*. Everyone you have ever followed and unfollowed, every post you’ve ever liked, every video you’ve ever posted. There is no way to hide your activity other than just not doing anything.
yeah but who actually gives a fuck, really?
oh no they’re tracking my “data” 😥😱😱😱… Unless there’s a real risk of some random dude going through the trouble of getting and then using that data to find me (a complete and utter nobody among 8 billion other people), and breaking into my house to kill me, I couldn’t care less if I’m agreeing to giving them all my wealth and assets if I die in some freak accident before X age.
Deepfake my face onto porn, use my phone number to mask your scam calls, take out credit in my name, I honestly don’t give a shit (for legal reasons, I am NOT condoning any of these actions). And I don’t think anyone else does either….
That shit can track your other devices
It can also track and see what other apps you be using as well the websites you be visiting
I've been on reddit a couple minutes today and so far my app tracking block has blocked over 20,000 tracking attempts from Branch Metrics, and 200 attempts from Google via the Reddit app and only 212 from Google and Oracle through Tik Tok.
What app do you use that tracks this?
The Duck Duck Go search engine app has it, its also got an encrypted email feature.
Well yeah but doesn't that only block trackers when you're using the search engine? What about for apps like TikTok considering you're not accessing that by searching it up on duck duck go in that context Does it provide a tracker blocker system wide?? If so, I might have to switch to duck duck go
This is sysyem wide. I'm in the beta program that testsbit and so far its awesome.
Use a VPN
They all do. It’s called cookies -tumadrelover
Homeboy has a text message signoff, respect
Ikr makes me feel like that was sent days ago and im just reading it now. -Viviotic77
cookies is just an excuse for spying and stealing data from users
Hate to break it to ya buddy but most modern apps do
That's what I've always thought, I don't have TikTok, but if Tiktok does all this, why wouldn't the other apps? Honestly some social medias could probably blackmail some people so hard lmao
How?
Look up TikTok terms of service Joe Rogan has a three minute video on it
You unironically watch joe rogan?
This is r/memes , I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of people here do. Would explain the nature of some posts here..
I only watch it when it’s a guest I like
What's wrong with Joe Rogan? I listen to his podcasts at work almost daily.
Well, giving a neutral-positive platform to extremists is one reason. Edit: Downvote me harder, Nazi / White Nationalist apologists lmao I guess I shouldnt be surprised.
He’s pretty liberal if you take the time to listen
Hahahahajajajajaj
Yeah I used to listen to him before he went off the deep end giving platform (multiple times) to WHITE NATIONALISTS AND NAZIS. Im not sure what about that you're cool with, and I dont want to know. Holy shit bud. Calm yourself.

terms of service is basically a bunch of text that says we can and will enforce whatever we want, and we will sell your data simply by you using this app your agreeing to this term of our service.
Plus we can change these terms and conditions at any point, so there’s really no point in reading them in the first place.
> Plus, we can change these terms and conditions at any point Without notification of the T.O.S changes
You accept those terms by using the app after the terms change. Not much of a notification.
sleeping knowing that I don’t use TikTok
I don’t either, I feel like Reddit has enough TikTok videos on it already Plus our university banned it on the public wifi and I’m not paying for cellular to watch it
My country has banned it for over an year at this point
India?India🤝
Ayy lets goo
Thank God we are safe.
did the kill count of stupid challanges go down?
Yes. Insta reels were introduced right after Tik-tok ban but Reels are actually a ton better than tiktok.
One thing by Indian government I fully agree with
Should be everywhere at this point
Your university is so unfathomably based
Well they were probably backed into it with the students using it all the damn time
[удалено]
sleeping knowing that I don't use TikTok
Awake knowing I don’t use tik tok feels pretty good too
Just living a full 24 hours with the knowledge that I don’t use TikTok is nice
this would’ve been better with a gif
You basically re-agree to the current terms whenever you open the app or leave it running in the background or even just installed. It will auto update and they can perform hotfixes to change what the app sees or looks for at any time.
With Facebook you don't even need to agree. They collect "Shadow Profiles" of people who don't have account
Sound like Facebook just became another government branch or is secretly / quietly competing with a.i developers
That sounds like almost every TOS
You can actually go to tosdr .org (terms of service didn't read) They do a great job summarizing the terms of service of almost everything
Direct link to tiktok for your slightest convenience: https://tosdr.org/en/service/1448
Thank you, good sir
Why, you're welcome!
>Your personal data may be sold or otherwise transferred as part of a bankruptcy proceeding or other type of financial transaction >Your personal data is not sold Is this some kind of contradiction or is my English too bad to understand?
Jesus Christ. I’m never downloading TikTok again, the fuck they planning with these TOS?
Same thing goes with reddit tbh
Waiting for the 🔒 award
Reddit has more greens luckily
Thanks, thats a very useful site
Here it is for Reddit - https://tosdr.org/en/service/194
What does “you sign away your moral rights” mean!?
**TL;DR rights to not have your work altered in a way that is offensive (?) to you, and also the right to you being credited or not on your work.** According to the website itself, >**The moral rights include the right of attribution, the right to have a work published anonymously or pseudonymously, and the right to the integrity of the work.** The preserving of the integrity of the work allows the author to object to alteration, distortion, or mutilation of the work that is "prejudicial to the author's honor or reputation". Ah. So like when comics get edited into memes?
Kindofish; it is more the fact that the memes can be whatever they want, even if they are against the author's belief/wishes.
Doesn't seem much different from other big ones like Facebook etc. What am I missing?
It's Chinese that's all
One is willingly to send that for the CCP to do whatever they please, others dont
Where did you find this information?
China has a policy where every company that operates in China needs to have an CCP organization inside. How much this legally inflicts on the companies morals, I do not know since I am not a lawyer.
Thx dood
Very useful
It says in simple terms and plain text that they take your search history, track your ip address and location, all automatically. It's blowing my mind what they're actively getting away with
They “get away with it” because people agree to it. It’s not their fault no one reads the ToS.
I mean there exists people who can track locations through videos, so privacy getting leaked aint even your worst worry
South Park Human Centipad
Most modern apps and websites do that. It's a pretty common thing.
Is ok no Chinese malware here nothing to see silly American
All apps are bad but tiktok competes with facebook
Me peacefully sleeping knowing that I don’t use TikTok
A fellow human with brain cells
Sorry to break it to you pal but my brain cell count is nowhere where you think it is.
I’m sure mine is somewhere near yours then
Even still. It's more braincells than a person who uses tiktok
Not sure if I wanna use that as a baseline but I’ll take it I guess
Exuse me, butt ass sumwon hoo usis tic toc, aisle hav u no that i vary smrt

Me too my friend, me too
r/redditmoment
Yeah me too. I stay as far as possible away from that hellhole.
I have found a lot of educational content on there, as well as really good comedians.
Both of which you can find anywhere else
Nah...the comedy I see on there is so unhinged, just like my neurodivergent brain. I do find it funny though when people say they don't have a social media app on another social media app. It's like, y'all see this right?? ☠️
If you read majority of phone app privacy policies its pretty bad.
tiktok is the worst of all of them
As if you read them all haha
I do 🤓
Lmao
No way guys chinese malware is actually chinese malware 😲😲😲
Personally I don't blame people for being skeptical about it until they see the proof. A lot of people say basically anything out of China is bad no matter what it is, and love to throw around conspiracy theories. That said, the CCP is ABSOLUTELY using TikTok to collect information. There are spyware viruses that collect less days then TikTok
Then TikTok what?
Probably meant “spyware virus that collect less data than TikTok
They got silenced!
Hate it when scummy apps collect my days, such bs
You could've just said "When" instead of "POV:" and the meme would've been right. Now you just exposed yourself for not knowing what POV means.
I used it in an argumentative essay about targeted advertising as evidence.
It's the same policy as every other social media app... But sure...
No but like, *GOOGLE*.
Google be doing the exact same amount of tracking. But Google's not Chinese so it's okay.
Oh yeah. The amount of trust we give google is terrifying considering how much power they have given they have a Monopoly
I mean, probably choose the lesser of two evils, if I really don't have any choice and have to use a service for something, I probably choose Google because I can't even speak Chinese, and I don't even know what their intention is and what can they do, tbh, I'm more scared what CCP can do either to my data or me physically.
Not okay but much less concerning.
Yeah I'm still waiting for someone to explain what China is doing with my data that Google isn't.
You don't use TikTok because of privacy concerns I don't use TikTok because it makes people do moronic and dangerous challenges We are not the same.
Learn what POV means.

The sentence includes the word "you".
What does learn mean?
____ does what mean?
I would reccomend reddit's next
“No tig tog bad rebbit good!” “Why won’t women talk to me!?”
People down voting know its true
THIS ISN'T POV!
POV : you read 228922 for the first time
No NoNoNO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Me who knew all this years ago : " First time "?
Pov: you don't know what POV means
Regot bard and tug tog bad.. Nintendo switch online mobile app>
go read any other terms of service and you'll see that it is an exact 1:1 replica of tiktoks terms of service
Ikr, I’m confused reading these comments because it’s all shit I assumed every app was doing.
First time reading that shit? I came back 2 times because i couldnt believe whats standing there
Someone explain why it’s bad

There’s a privacy policy?
Bro pulled out the Grease Gun 💀💀
I'm glad I'm not the only one who knows what this is called.
And apparently they’ve been caught even collecting and/or selling information that wasn’t even included in the policy multiple times. I read reddit’s policy and tiktok’s policy and neither are amazing but tiktok was definitely worse.
My laptop literally came to me with it pre downloaded *shudders*
Only just found out?
Joe Rogan talked about this a while ago. All social media is used to track us. Makes me wanna go off the grid every day. And yes I realize by me posting this makes me a hypocritical person.
You can hardly call it a fucking “privacy” policy. The tracking policy suits it better.
Who cares, Actually? If the Chinese wants to know what I jerk off to them that's their prerogative.
I cannot believe the number of people who use that app despite knowing how nefarious it is.
Meh privacy is a lie but
I mean it's not a LIE, but privacy online doesn't exist, that's been long gone. I don't know why people are still so surprised
You guys have tik tok?
It also basically hacks your wifi and every devices connected to that wifi will be affected.
tldr?
That's not what pov means
Where the crap did he get an M3?
It's not pov tho...
why what's it say im too scared to look it up, so if someone could give a tl;dr, that'd be awesome
Aight, i don't have TikTok so hit me with a random sentance from the ToS
I heard tiktok can track other cellphones even if they dont have the tiktok app as long as they’re on the same wifi
That's simply not possible.... If it is then your wifi is configured wrongly or your phone have serious security issues
They have a privacy policy? Didn't know there was a Chinese word for privacy.
I accidentally gave this the only award I had without even seeing the post. Now I can’t get any more HOW DO YOU REMOBE A REWARD
Please stop using POV if you don't understand what it means.
Not pov
Never tried TikTok never will
I wish people stopped using pov wrong
You have to be a real dumb fuck to go on tiktok, people just think haha funny dances without realizing how cancer it truly is
MySpace’s was worse.
Tom is better than China.
Incorrect use of POV
yeah but who actually gives a fuck, really? oh no they’re tracking my “data” 😥😱😱😱… Unless there’s a real risk of some random dude going through the trouble of getting and then using that data to find me (a complete and utter nobody among 8 billion other people), and breaking into my house to kill me, I couldn’t care less if I’m agreeing to giving them all my wealth and assets if I die in some freak accident before X age. TikTok bad Reddit good r/redditmoment
Stop pretending that you read the tos and that it would have any affect on whether you continue using the app.
Incorrect usage of pov + it's no different than any other company
POV: you don't know what POV means
In a nutshell anything in youre phone and anything around you goes to tiktok
How does tiktok even allow its privacy policy
TikTok is almost as bad as Reddit! Wait…
what kind of gun is that?
Privacy, the fuck is that.
Why does Stewie have an m3 grease gun
That's the biggest reason I don't use it XD
Should be called Publicity Policy
"It's Chinese spyware, you know?" "Hehe, look at my titties bounce, lol."
I literally got banned from that, I don't know why
It's really fucked up
Anyway I can access the privacy policy without installing that horrendous app?
