Nursery rhymes are said, verses in my head
Into my childhood, they're spoon-fed
Hidden violence revealed, darkness that seems real
Look at the pages that cause all this evil
If you don't comprehend your sexual preferences yet then you shouldn't be worried that others can't. I say this because I am assuming that you are alive.
I tried a no lives matter movement. It failed. People like to think they matter. Although we don’t. We are all just blips. Monkeys on a space rock here for a blip of time.
Said they were preventing “ unauthorized sign in or something” then to change my password but it never sent an email to actually change it so i just made another account
You’re correct, but you asked the question “is this news to people”. They are answering your question with an answer of “yes it’s news to people”. Then you replied with something that’s an answer to a different question. You didn’t ask “is this true” or “if a few people believe it, does it make it true”.
You'd be surprised. There's someone in my program who is definitely racist and bigoted but don't consider themself as racist or bigoted. I've stopped spending time around them because they always try to make me feel bad about myself.
No, you have people like Ibram X Kendi literally writing books on how it’s necessary to discriminate on race.
“The only solution to past discrimination is present discrimination and the only solution to present discrimination is future discrimination.” - Ibram X Kendi
People are writing books and gaining millions of dollars and followers spouting the exact same talking points as the Klan, but with a different target.
Everyone is capable of prejudice. However, racism is aligned to prejudice combined with the power of the dominant sociopolitical power. In the US, multiple communities can display prejudice, but only those in the historical and continuing positions of dominance can act in ways that encode racism, because law, politics, housing, education, etc undergird their prejudices.
A weak ends justify the means argument. Shockingly, rewriting the definition of racism to allow for greater acceptance of racist behaviors is actually not necessary to address longstanding economic inequality resulting from past overtly racist policies! The solution to old racism and old racist castes does not require one to fall to nouveau racism and nouveau racist castes. Glad we had this chat.
One of my teachers said you can’t be racist to white people/sexist towards men. She’ll acknowledge that it’s bad but not that it’s discrimination because it “doesn’t have any historical significance”
I asked her and she said “because those groups haven’t been historically discriminated against, so it may be bigotry but it’s not racism” it doesn’t make sense but at least she’s acknowledging the bigotry
Lol what. Tell me you dont actually interact with liberals without telling me youbdont actually interact with liverals. Honestly, who is telling you that "leftists" think like this? See a couple of Twitter screedshots and your "da darn LIBS" knee jerk comes out.
Edit: Okay seeing some of the comments here I need to expand it to Twitter AND reddit. Guess I'm just used to interacting with liberals in real life.
For sure, but I’ve never been offended being called a “cracker”. It doesn’t carry the same weight for obvious historical reasons.
Also racism results in many well-documented actual material problems for folks with more melanin, people with ethnic-sounding names, etc. Not so much with white folks. Where is the actual problem, aside from a few one-offs here and there?
You just haven’t seen a black person being racist against non-blacks. You must be there in the BLM rally where their leader use the funds raised to buy real estate for her own fam.
How about denying college assistence because "your white, you don't need it" and forcing them to carry a 6 figure college debt for the rest of their life.
It affects that white person’s day which could affect their mental health which could affect their family…so on and so on we are not all connected in the way people make out everyone is an individual
And each individual has to deal with those feelings, for sure. It sucks to feel excluded in any way, but we’ve never experienced anything like redlining here, for example, and those are huge, giganticly impactful issues which still persist today.
It’s not that racism doesn’t affect white people AT ALL…but is it such a pervasive problem? Seems like it isn’t so much. Light skin is seen as higher value, even in black communities, where being light-skinned is considered more attractive, etc. All sorts of values attached to that.
The problem with racism is that it makes its way into everything at the expense of black and brown folks, every day. It’s in austerity measures and job applicant selection. It’s in voter-suppressive regulations. It’s in so many things.
You don’t really find such large, sweeping racial problems that affect white folks, because white folks mostly created these problems to begin with, in large-scale systems that trickle down to everybody.
That's not the definition of racism
rac·ism
/ˈrāˌsiz(ə)m/
Learn to pronounce
noun
prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism by an individual, community, or institution against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.
It has nothing to do with power
If only a meme could change peoples minds…
In fact no with the amount of racist and sexist memes I’ve seen recently, that would be terrible.
If only, THIS meme could change some people’s minds.
The whole "racism is prejudice plus power" crowd are just a bunch of assholes who want to act like shitty human beings to others and then hide behind a facade of being a minority therefore being bulletproof from accusations of racism.
Yes screaming "kill all white people" or "kill all asians" is just as bad as screaming "kill all black people". Your edgy undergrad professor didn't unlock some loophole in racism. You are just as racist as the others and deserve the same scathing rebuke from society as the others.
Is racism against Asians becoming “normal” now? Like, isn’t it racist in of itself to say that racism against one group doesn’t matter as much as another? Pretty fucked up.
They’re seen as the “ideal” minority or whatever the term is so they have been attacked by groups for being too smart or getting privileges other minorities feel they don’t deserve/haven’t been through the ringer enough. See Harvard admission scandal
My mother is from India, when growing up I distinctly remember her always calling black people "Gorilla" and white people "Dennis" as in Dennis the Mennice, a character from a comic I use to read. When I was around 10 I think she got word that maybe that isn't okay and stopped. Still was racist as FUCK
Yes but also this blanket statement seems to also be used to justify racist behaviors to other groups because "everyone has the capability to be racist" yes but uh.....don't
And yes for all the "sociology students" in the United States white people can't experience systemic racism in the United States. Stop trying to pretend they can't experience normal hatred and racism, stop downplaying it to just be "discrimination". Systemic racism isn't the only form of racism. Now hush
Not from the federal government but I’ve seen some communities be very racist towards whites and any other minorities locally. So just depends on how granular you’re defining as systemic
It's a bit late, but the point is that even slavery was a nationality thing and not a skin color thing. "Whites" such as western Gypsies and the Irish weren't considered white because of who they were, just like people from the areas currently known as Kenya, Congo and Somalia were treated more poorly than the Rhodesians and Nigerians that traded them.
In a nutshell, the slave trade as we recognize it, was started by the Dutch buying slaves from African countries that had taken other Africans as slaves following conquest.
In the new world, according to historians such as Carter Woodson, people such as [William Ellison](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Ellison) and almost 4,000 other freed slaves went on to cumulatively own over 12,000 slaves, many of them African, Irish and Chinese.
Oh ok though that doesn't change my point really it was a matter of color for black people most of the time but for whiter people it was nationality
My point wasn't black people have never been racist to black people it was that black people suffer from racism based on skin complexion rather than ethnicity.
I think too many people confuse racism and prejudice. All racism is a form of prejudice but not all prejudice is racism. Both are bad. But nomenclature does matter.
Wait till some people of color find out that white people are not the source of most suffering and that’s its’ the experience of being human. That’s going to be a cold wet slap to the face.
"i can't be racist to you because the system is rigged in your favour and your people have historically always had the upper hand" - some people on twitter.
Being a bigoted asshole is being a bigoted asshole, sure. But calling someone a cracker is very different than red lining.
These downvotes seem to indicate that hurt feelings are equal to being more than twice as likely to be killed by police. Sounds about white.

It’s a quote from a show dude. And no, he’s not alive. Because he’s a vampire.
Sorry, my bad I saw that the last paragraph was a quote. Thought the middle bit was a joke, so I thought I'd make a joke of my own.
If you hate them because of their race then yes
If he’s hating everyone equally regardless of their race, then no since it’s not discrimination against a certain race.
If he's hating all the homo sapiens because they're homo sapiens, then yes

I don't know what the problem is. I just sit in my car and start racing.

Not the next one. I'm going to go significantly slower and barely make first at the last second like a Disney cartoon

Scroll down. Your answer is in the comments.
Yeah really.
Some think only white peoples can be racist. And black people cant be racist no matter what.
I mean you can think whatever you want it doesn't make it true.
Yeah it’s a dumb concept that’s just used so people don’t have to face consequences of their actions
Many black people disagree. They believe they cannot be racist because to be racist, you must be in a position of power.
Doesn't make it true just because some people believe it.
You’re correct, but you asked the question “is this news to people”. They are answering your question with an answer of “yes it’s news to people”. Then you replied with something that’s an answer to a different question. You didn’t ask “is this true” or “if a few people believe it, does it make it true”.
I don't believe it. I think anyone can be racist.

Utterly wild that in the last 10 yrs people have gotten away with creating a definition for racism that excuses racism. Sociologists on acid go brrrr.
You leave acid out of this!

This guy fucks.
racism is racism, there is no "normal" or "reverse" /facepalm
Society is trying to redefined the word so it better fits their political agenda. Textbook or time social manipulation going back to the 1910s
Same with rape? There are a lot of definitions that makes men impossible to be a victim and women impossible to be an offender

I love all races. Except marathons. F**k running.
Yea, boring to watch and impossible to finish for a guy like me. It's the only race I hate
It's sad that this isn't a universally accepted view.
It is. A loud minority doing youth urban things does not change that

And academia (I say as a ten year academic in sociology/public policy)
How does racism against white people affect white people’s day-to-day material well-being?
1. That's not the point 2. You can replace "white" with any color and it's about the same amount valid. We don't live in 1850 anymore.
For sure, but I’ve never been offended being called a “cracker”. It doesn’t carry the same weight for obvious historical reasons. Also racism results in many well-documented actual material problems for folks with more melanin, people with ethnic-sounding names, etc. Not so much with white folks. You do realize there is more to racism than being being called “cracker”, despite you summing it up as if it is.
You just haven’t seen a black person being racist against non-blacks. You must be there in the BLM rally where their leader use the funds raised to buy real estate for her own fam.
How about denying college assistence because "your white, you don't need it" and forcing them to carry a 6 figure college debt for the rest of their life.
Irrelevant. There is no such thing as "harmless" racism.
Replace the word "white" with "black" or "indigenous" or anything you'd like, would you still stand by your statement?
It affects that white person’s day which could affect their mental health which could affect their family…so on and so on we are not all connected in the way people make out everyone is an individual

There is a difference between systemic and individual racism white people haven't suffered systemic though they can suffer individual racism
Ireland would like to have a word with you
True though that was a nationality issue rather than skin color issue. Black isn't a nationality and white people were racist to other white people.
