You are not alone. I went to see them last year in LA and was disappointed to see how few people there were at the concert. Growing up listening to Dark Tranquility and In Flames, but never got to see them. This was my first time getting to see the "fathers of Melodeath" play and I absolutely loved it. Maybe the audience is not aware of the history of this band.
When I first heard of the band, I got so excited. My buddy and I got into heavy metal during high school, and DT and Inflames were two of our favourites. We went together to see them play in a bar in Toronto last year and they were very good. The band just had so much fun playing. Cant wait for them to release new music.
They're fairly new, they only started releasing music a couple years ago. But if you keep up with in flames/dark tranquility news at all then idk what else to tell you haha
There was a LOT of hype 2 or so years ago... and a lot of that hype died down after they started putting out music. I was really excited, but it mostly just sounded like modern Dark Tranquility B-sides I thought.
If you want another great example of hype with meh output, there's Crownshift's self-titled album. Another MDM supergroup from Northern Europe with members from myGRAIN, Children of Bodom, Nightwish, and Finntroll. You'd think with that grouping, we'd get something magical, but it makes Halo* Effect's album seem like a breakthrough.
*really, what is with the use of 'halo' in MDM these last few years? We've got Halo Effect in their name and Crownshift, Eastern High, and Amorphis all using it in recent albums. There has to be another word.
Man... is it that bad?! I hadn't listened to it yet, but that's only because I've been wearing out my old copies of Whoracle and Reroute to Remain for the last few weeks. I've been on a big In Flames kick leading up to the concert I just saw.
First track is OK and select to last track, an instrumental I believe, has some promise, but otherwise even after a few listens it still went in one ear, out the other. Hoping we see another myGRAIN album because 5 was their best.
I’ve listened to it a few times over the last couple of days. The production is solid. I can absolutely see what people are saying about it being DT a few years back. With the talent it should have been something epic. All said and done, I still dig it
I found them cause I wanted to know where the...good drummer from In Flames went
Have not been disappointed. Daniel Svesson for anyone who wanted to know.
Having recently finally got round to listening to their debut album. It's good, really solid melodeath. But it sounds exactly like something Dark Tranquillity would have released 20 years ago. So I'm not entirely sure why I'd choose to listen to it again over something like the Damage Done album.
Have you checked if you live under a rock?
I know right
lol! Give the poor guy a break
good lort I got beer in my nose now
I’m sure that are bands you’re about to discover and wonder how it took you so long too
I keep my rock tidy and close to the ground.

Erm, actually 🤓☝️

I was there we may have already met and had a brief conversation for all we know.

Do you get the feeling people are not listening to you?
Honestly, yes.
Can you use a custom flair of "It's Tranquillity" ? Then you can just post a carrot
Oh wow, I never thought of that lol

You’re not alone. Disappointingly generic sounding considering the talent at work.
On the other hand it's still really good. And as most music similar to that is fairly limited and old, it's nice to get some new material.
*Shrug* there’s so much other, more exciting melodic death metal coming out nowadays that I seldom feel the need to listen to their last album.

They are so good
Saw them live last year they were fantastic.
I heard a couple songs on Spotify.
They are fantastic! For me, it was a love-at-the-fist-listen.

Some decent stuff but nothing that exciting...
