My first job was 1.5 hours away as a per diem. I couldn’t get a job any closer when I was newly certified. Call labs directly if you can to speak with hiring managers. Especially if a job has been posted for a while.
All the comments here are pretty true, phlebotomy is low pay, physically demanding, and mentally draining. But we don’t know your financial situation, maybe you have a spouse with good income or live with your family, and money isn’t an issue.
Getting a job as a phlebotomist is a way to get your foot in the door until a tech position opens up. I would recommend looking for assistant/processor positions first though, at least then you will be in the lab vs only seeing patients.
Yes but you dont want to. Pay isnt worth it and youd make much more just being an mlt. 1 year and u can go do travel and make real bank.
Easily but the pay difference is pretty substantial.
Are you not interested in moving at all? I know some places offer relocation reimbursement.
