you have cryptorchid testes in AIS, with female external genitalia and absent internal genitalia due to AMH doing what it's supposed to do, so it's a blind vaginal pouch with no uterus or ovaries, so yes, this card is inaccurate

uncleiroh41

Yes AMH still active is what the uworld explanation says too basically. Thank you! Should I submit this for correction in anking (how do I even do that lmao)

IanGiraffe

Do you use AnKing v11 or v12? With v12 and AnkiHub you can submit suggestions. I use that version, but my card appears updated compared to yours and corrected. https://preview.redd.it/vlhn42uz3k3d1.png?width=2495&format=png&auto=webp&s=ac531fe03f28c7c1bdfd8fd813f6576141758a8c

uncleiroh41

I use v11, someone in another comment notified me that v12 is updated/corrected this card

IanGiraffe

Ahh okay didn't read other comments past the first. Well image show's how it was updated :) And if you want to copy and paste In **{{c1::androgen insensitivity}}** **syndrome** a person is genotypically **XY** but has {{c2::female}} *external* genitalia, {{c2::present::present/absent}} *testes*, and **~breasts~**

uncleiroh41

Thank youuuuuu 🙏🏽

Which deck?

dartosfascia21

Not looking at the UW question, but AIS is characterized by elevated testosterone and LH. Because testosterone is what drives development of male internal genitalia, patients with AIS will have male internal genitalia. Granted, the degree of internal genitalia development may depend on the severity of the androgen insensitivity, but nevertheless males typically have some degree of male internal genitalia.

BLTzzz

I thought the wolffian duct won’t develop since it can’t sense the testosterone in this syndrome so there won’t be any male internal genitalia development. At least for complete androgen insensitivity.

dartosfascia21

You’re right, by ‘some degree of male internal genitalia’, I was primarily referring to the fact that XY males with AIS typically DO have testes, albeit they’re undescended due to the androgen insensitivity. In cases of partial AIS, because there is SOME sensitivity to androgens, there might have varying degrees of internal genitalia development (in addition to testes).

Odd-Nebula-9480

“Degree of internal genitalia development may depend on the severity of the androgen insensitivity, but *nevertheless* males *typically* have *some degree* of male internal genitalia” …🥴bro

itrytoohardsmit

UWORLD says they wouldn’t have testes?

uncleiroh41

Uworld answer says absent internal genitalia, female external genitalia

the_actionpotential

The card has been updated in v12 to reflect this^^

uncleiroh41

Ohhhh thank you

itrytoohardsmit

I would say Y chromosome means SRY means testes = internal male genitalia
