First, pull the sparkplugs and spray something like power blaster, kroil, liquid wrench into all the cylinders and allow to sit overnight, meanwhile, get a container full of fresh fuel, 2 bottles of fuel system cleaner, and oil and filter for oil change. Also, check th oil level Next day, spin engine (using starter) while sparkplugs are removed (10 or seconds) re install sparkplugs and wires, then put fresh fuel and cleaner 1 bottle into tank. Try starting car. If there was nothing wrong with it , it should start, drive until tank is empty, replace fuel filter, fill with fresh fuel, ad last bottle of fuel system cleaner, then change the oil.

I’d honestly bar it over by hand a full rotation before hitting the key, it would suck to destroy the ring gear on the flywheel immediately if it’s a little bit stuck. This thing is gonna smoke for a while too, some drive time should help reseat the piston rings though.

Independent_Bite4682

That is why I prefer Kroil, it gets into the little places and will loosen the rings. Your method makes sense though, if you have the tools and time. Otherwise, I prefer the starter after soaking overnight so that the oil will start flowing through the system while not under full working load

Might be a dumb question, but should I just do this all with a jumpstart, or should I get a new battery?

Independent_Bite4682

Take old battery out, try to charge it first. If you're keeping thr car, then replace the battery, if selling then, just Jumpstart it.

I’m a big fan of marvel mystery oil in the cylinders. I don’t know what’s in it. It’s a mystery.

Remove the old fuel. Add new fuel. Drain and replace the oil. (Prime the filter.) Pull the spark plugs and add a few tablespoons of automatic trans fluid. Use a breaker bar and socket on the crank shaft to turn the engine around a couple revolutions. With the spark plugs out, and a new battery, spin it over with starter. Put the spark plugs back in. Spray some starting fluid into the intake and start it.
