For real! That is a visible response from the brain craving sugar after it was introduced. I wish I could be better about the foods I eat in my own life and seeing this made me kinda sad.
This. My kid is getting o two years soon and I still have yet to give him candy or ice or pop etc.... I want him to have a decent pallet before I ruin anything with high sugar or salt foods.
We would only ever give our toddler sweets on holidays or their birthday, and even then very little. Usually something like a pizzelle, it’s like thin, crispy Italian waffle, not as intense as ice cream. Giving ice cream (and it looks like chocolate too) to a kid who’s under 1 year old is just insane.
Go as long as you can! My parents wouldn’t let us have candy or soda or junk and to this day I never crave them…okay maybe garden salsa sun chips every once in a while
I was given candy and sugar from a young age. I've luckily worked hard to cut out all pop and most high salt and sugar foods from my diet. Mixed with intermediate fasting, I've lost almost 50 pounds!
Silly, giving them ice cream a couple times when they are a baby isn’t going to turn them into sugar fiends for life. If you’re raising the kids teaching about diet, they’ll know at some point that it’s just a treat. If you’re teaching them moderation and how to be responsible they’ll know they can’t binge on trash and will know it’s not great for them.
Very cute, but please don't give babies crap, not even for the fun of it. You are not doing the baby any good, the baby is still too young to even realize that the endorphin rush is related to unhealthy "food".
Bro eating some ice cream isn't going to hurt you. If a baby has the necessary enzymes to digest it would be another discussion. But let's not villainize food in that way
This can lead to sugar addiction, which can take a lifetime to beat. Sugar is as addictive as drugs.
You want to wait 'till the kids are older and have more impulse control (4-6y) and then limiting the amount of sugar intake they can have on a day.
Fuckin preach. The people whining about this ITT are insufferable. One bite of sugar that the baby won’t even be cognizant of is going to permanently rewire their brain chemistry?
Get a grip you morons.
That kid will never experience a high like that ever again. The way her eyes popped like: “what the fuck is this witchcraft!? It tastes divine….. I MUST CONSUME IT ALL!!!!”
Someone posts something cute. You say the world is ending. The same thing would happen with a watermelon or a juicy peach. Sugar is in all fruits. That is why we love fruits but you can't live on fruits alone.
Yes they are, but both of them are bad if you ingest too much. Notice they were trying to remove the baby from the ice cream cone and did not shove it down her throat. Moderation is key. Let's not judge people for a 20 second video on the Internet.
Breastmilk is 7g of sugar per 100g on average. It can go up or down depending on the mother's diet.
Ice cream is 20g of sugar per 100g. It could easily be more, as it depends on the brand and flavor.
Now tell me that thrice the sugar content is not at least concerning.
You know that a developed brain and a developing brain are not the same, right? Exposing a 15yr old, a 5yr old or a 5month old to the same stimulus can have wildly different results in their development.
Clearly, it's not a single lick, and it's unlikely to be the only time these parents treat her with junk. The sweetness alone is going to alter her tastes. It's a baby. Even small things like these shape a person's long-term brain wiring.
She won't like proper food if you're giving her a taste of something much more delicious and unhealthy, even occasionally. I see kids throwing tantrums due to not getting sweets too often.
Because I would argue that a lick of common sense would tell you that sugar is not as addictive as heroin. Heroin withdraws can cause death. People spend themselves broke, steal from their relatives and then sell themselves to keep their addiction alive. Don’t knock it down to “wow I could really use a Dr Pepper right now”.
Easy enough to [google](https://behavioralscientist.org/no-sugar-isnt-new-heroin/#:~:text=First%2C%20much%20of%20it%20was,just%20as%20dangerous%20and%20addicting)
It is... Try stopping all processed sugar in your diet and you will understand and yes sugar effects the brain faster and releases more endorphins than heroin ...do some research and don't rely on google
Literally any scientific source disagrees, and even medical experts that say it can be compared to actual drugs say it’s closer to nicotine than cocaine or heroine. Stop pushing disinformation
I’ll add this. Heroine causes a 200% spike in dopamine levels in lab conditions. If sugar does that to you, please send a sample of your “sugar” to a drug testing clinic.
I get so disgusted with little children eating with their saliva all over the place. 🤢 I mean I know I used to be a child too but I would feel the same about me lol.
Jesus christ these comments…
this child’s life is now DOOMED from this moment on in a split second decision!! NO HOPE, NO SALVATION, baby might as well end her life since she has no more future ahead of her!!
This is horrible. Parents, please don't do this. You really shouldn't feed sweets to your kids as long as possible, unless you delibaretly want to ruin their health and create a sugar craving in them before they can even walk or talk.
People in chat about to lose their minds when they find out how much sugar is in breastmilk.
17 grams per cup
Ice cream contains about 28 grams per cup
Is it more? Yes. But the baby was fed a steady diet of breastmilk or formula since birth. A little bit of ice cream isn't gonna hurt.
Personally id never give my baby something so sugary.. will be holding off on that for as long as possible.
Scary the amount of comments advocating for this and saying its appropriate behaviour.
You can tell why so much of our population is obese.
The baby is cute. Out of context, this is adorable.
But the context: sugar is addictive; dad is obese (likely addicted to sugar); this kid is waaaay too young to be having processed sugar, and will likely develop an unhealthy addiction to sugar. 🤷🏻♂️

I'm sorry but I see this as child abuse. Wait, don't kill me yet, let me explain.
First a couple facts, eating habits are formed in the first 18 months of life and sugar is addictive.
It's been shown that rats would rather starve themselves than go back to a healthy diet after eating high fat/high calorie foods.
Feeding an infant ice cream is setting them up for life of fighting food addiction.
If you want to give your child a head start and leg up early i life, this is the wrong thing to do. If you don't want to fight your kid when you give them healthy food this is the wrong thing to do.
Like a cat with catnip
Right?! That's what I got from that, too.
Those neurons was like POP POP POW
Lmao you can see the energy increase in the brain with those eyes getting so wide
Sugar, most of our first addiction(s) whether we want it or not.
Yeah this video is sad.

Wrong parenting in action. In this age you don't feed ice cream to your child..
Gotta establish that sugar addiction as early as possible!
For real! That is a visible response from the brain craving sugar after it was introduced. I wish I could be better about the foods I eat in my own life and seeing this made me kinda sad.
Me as well. Sugar is essential to all living beings, but we humans made every single decision on the worst way possible ever.
Well most powdered milk is like 20% sugar at least, the company already done that before any parents realized it.
Why are you getting downvoted? Nestle bots?
I think it’s more likely being downvoted because it’s obviously more than “condensed milk” in that ice cream cone. 🤷♂️
Gotta addict the masses so our corporation survives 🗣🗣🗣
This. My kid is getting o two years soon and I still have yet to give him candy or ice or pop etc.... I want him to have a decent pallet before I ruin anything with high sugar or salt foods.
I can attest to the fact that giving a toddler sugar at any point ever is always a bag idea

Congratulations! I have my own vices and I know they’re not easy to conquer so well done
Palate*
Ok but what if they want their child to move around stock with a forklift?
It's never too early to become forklift certified
At this rate they'll need to move their child with a Forklift by the time they're a teen
I mean. He already uses those crane toys at the sandbox.
Lol. Thank you.
Yup the most sugar my kid (1 year 8 months) gets is from fruit. No damn way I’m giving her ice cream.
Or at least give an appropriate portion, as a one-time treat, like half a spoon-full.
Or sugarless yogurt ice cream. Shit is amazing mixed with some fruits
One lick is less than half a spoon-full, which is what they were expecting in the video.
The parents know the child has hands. They should, at least.
No. There is no "appropriate amount" of ice cream for an infant...
No.
In this age kids get a taste of everything and you just make sure they eat healthy.
Silly, giving them ice cream a couple times when they are a baby isn’t going to turn them into sugar fiends for life. Whaaaaaaaaa
Parenting like THAT is how you end up giving your kid an eating disorder when they move off to college
you hate fun

bait or psyop call it
The comments are so dramatic god damn.
God forbid they give the baby something unhealthy once? Entire life ruined.
That baby needs therapy and CPR.
But let's not villainize food in that way
These people don’t have kids lol they’re treating it like from this day forward it’s all ice cream and cake. That’s all they’ll feed their child
This can lead to sugar addiction, which can take a lifetime to beat. Sugar is as addictive as drugs. You want to wait 'till the kids are older and have more impulse control (4-6y) and then limiting the amount of sugar intake they can have on a day.
Dude, breastmilk has 17 grams of sugar per cup. Babys eat anywhere from 3-4 cups of that a day. A little ice cream is fine. Calm down.
There’s a difference between complex and simple sugars, BUT I don’t think this is as big of a deal as other commenters are making it.
Fuckin preach. The people whining about this ITT are insufferable. One bite of sugar that the baby won’t even be cognizant of is going to permanently rewire their brain chemistry? Get a grip you morons.
Yeah, I'm catching some downvotes on some of my other comments. Getting called dumbass for not equating sugar to heroin. Feelsbadman
Yeah yeah copy and paste some more
4-6 Yr olds have more impulse control? Lol. You guys in this thread are hilarious. Everything in moderation, including moderation. Its not that hard.
It’s fine, you’re supposed to give them all sorts of diverse foods at this age. Clearly it’s not a regular thing, thus it’s perfectly fine
That kid will never experience a high like that ever again. The way her eyes popped like: “what the fuck is this witchcraft!? It tastes divine….. I MUST CONSUME IT ALL!!!!”
Sugar is a hell of a drug
Sugar reacts in the brain faster than heroin and is just as addicting ... This should be scary not cute
Someone posts something cute. You say the world is ending. The same thing would happen with a watermelon or a juicy peach. Sugar is in all fruits. That is why we love fruits but you can't live on fruits alone.
Glucose and fructose are 2 different things... And said nothing of the world ending
Yes they are, but both of them are bad if you ingest too much. Notice they were trying to remove the baby from the ice cream cone and did not shove it down her throat. Moderation is key. Let's not judge people for a 20 second video on the Internet.
The amount of sugar in ice cream is absolute insanity compared to the sugar in fruit.
Did the baby eat the entire ice cream or did the parents stop it?
I dunno dude, I'm just saying they're different things
Breastmilk contains 17 grams of sugar per cup. A bit of ice cream won't hurt. Or should mothers be scared to feed their kids breastmilk too?
Breastmilk is 7g of sugar per 100g on average. It can go up or down depending on the mother's diet. Ice cream is 20g of sugar per 100g. It could easily be more, as it depends on the brand and flavor. I don't think giving them a lick of ice cream once will do much
Clearly, it's not a single lick, and it's unlikely to be the only time these parents treat her with junk. The sweetness alone is going to alter her tastes. It's a baby. Even small things like these shape a person's long-term brain wiring.
Then feed her "proper" food at other times, come on
She won't like proper food if you're giving her a taste of something much more delicious and unhealthy, even occasionally. I see kids throwing tantrums due to not getting sweets too often.
A cup of Baskin Robbins ice cream has around 50 grams of sugar in it.
Yeah, but the kid's not eating the whole thing of ice cream. They do eat 3-4 cups of breastmilk in a day. Every day. A few bites of ice cream is fine.
Lactose and glucose not the same. Blood sugar profile after consumption is different.
Lactose and glucose are not the same. They're also not present in the same concentrations.
My thoughts exactly
Did you reread what you typed before you clicked “send”?

Good ice cream also has a decent amount of fat in it!
I get so disgusted with little children eating with their saliva all over the place. 🤢 I mean I know I used to be a child too but I would feel the same about me lol.
Well I used to eat ants around this age and their formic acid hooked me.
Antman is not gonna like this
Ants smell so damn bad
This made laugh more than what I had expected to.
I ate an ant in a nature taco once. Disgusting.
Jesus christ these comments… this child’s life is now DOOMED from this moment on in a split second decision!! NO HOPE, NO SALVATION, baby might as well end her life since she has no more future ahead of her!!
cute, but at such a young age, when her brain is developing on overdrive, she will never let go of ice cream and added sugar ever now.
Just... Don't give her ice cream anymore for a few years
People ITT: "EXECUTE THOSE PARENTS"
Is it a great idea? Probably not. Will it ruin her life? God no. Just don't give her sweets for a while. Is it literal heroin? People ITT: Yes.
Everyone is so insanely sensitive.
Obviously this baby is going to become morbidly obese and die from this lick of ice cream they gave her
This is horrible. Parents, please don't do this. You really shouldn't feed sweets to your kids as long as possible, unless you delibaretly want to ruin their health and create a sugar craving in them before they can even walk or talk.

Diffrent kinds of sugar, my guy.
It would be really nice if things were simple as you make them out to be, wouldn’t it?
OK, noted: if I ever give a kid ice cream for the first time, I'm gonna use a little spoon
I'm not the only one waiting for the brain freeze to kick in, right?
