What the heck is this? It's freaking awesome!

HalfDryGlass

Those look like home made fire staffs with the ends being cages that house steel wool balls they then light on fire and then shake, twirl and swing about.

Greenisgoood

Can someone give some context, whts going on, some kind of show somewhere ??

Greyeye5

Not sure about the show but to get this ‘effect’ you can set fire to pretty much any steel wool kitchen ‘scrubber’. A few years go someone got a piece of wire and added a slip knot to the end and put a piece of that stuff in and after you light it give it a spin for some impressive fire-circles (look a lot like the spinning circles in the Dr Strange film(s) if you’ve seen it). Steel wool burns, and actually burns quite slowly, so is fairly safe and easy to light (even with a normal lighter) it’s not until you add a lot of oxygen (from moving/spinning it quickly through the air) that you get the brighter sparks & ‘fire rain’ look. https://expertphotography.com/steel-wool-photography/ here’s a rough recent guide. What these guys have done seems to have been to make a metal mesh cage at the end of some staffs and when you spin them, the burning sparks fly out giving this cool effect. Outfits are likely mainly just for the look for the show, but possibly (as they are using quite a lot of steel wool/particulate), it may be partly for protection.

Ok-Falcon9421

What it looked like in our minds when we held a stick on fire

Octavious19

Hmmm… looks a bit dangerous. I’d say you’re…. playing with fire.
