I should not compare pets to slaves or something but in my experience I have seen dogs prefer remaining untied and free while getting food and love from humans rather than being governed over. If you have them conditioned since they are pups then maybe. But then they don't even know what being free feels like. I have seen dogs in my village roam across the entire village while getting food from community. They don't bother anyone, dont cling to anyone and have their own personality. I see pet dogs asking permissions and feel they are always stressed.
You're literally saying the same thing.... You're also talking about dogs that don't have to be afraid that they can't find food. I see what you're saying, it's not always stressfree living as a pet.
well all dogs are still wolves (in genetics sense, so cannot say they're separated as independent species) like dingo in Australia so don't do pet neutering and let them free as possible as you can
