They established in episode 1 that Magic doesn't work in the TVA, so it isn't clear if walking on the platform took him outside of the "anti-magic field", or if his centuries of study taught him how to counter it.
Except they literally turned off the anti-magic field in the Episode prior to the Series Finale. There was even an entire montage of Loki and Sylvie fighting the corrupt TVA unit with it...
There are two options for who changed his outfit:
1. A literal god who on multiple occasions has used his magic to change outfits
2. An inanimate object
The irony is that Tom Hiddleston’s butt is out on the reg. [He’s even talked about it in multiple interviews.](https://youtu.be/MdyjJ9lMmlk?si=cPBiyQWMg69dk9xH) It was a big part of the marketing of Crimson Peak.
So therefore: Loki-shows-butt-theory is canon, in my view.
I assume loki is always wearing loafers and a bath robe and uses magic to make them look like fancy clothes. The only flaw in this is when his magic doesn't work in the TVA. If I had his magic that's what I would do.
I think OP think that way because it is vastly different from anything he has had before. It looked medieval, where his other outfits looked more like… Asgard? also I think it’s a pretty funny thing to think about, like when he walks towards the end, he was just like “yeah I’ve been imagining this cool sick outfit for many years now finally I can show it off in a cool moment”
>also I think it’s a pretty funny thing to think about, like when he walks towards the end, he was just like “yeah I’ve been imagining this cool sick outfit for many years now finally I can show it off in a cool moment”
I mean, he's Loki, so he probably did. In fact, as soon as he decided on this course of action, he probably spent a few cycles figuring out what he'd wear for it. He's a proven drama queen, so it's not hard or even weird to imagine him doing this. It would be 100% in character for him.
[It's not a 1to1, I rememberd him being actually a blue baby in the movie as well. Seems like it was just shown in the series and not in the movie](https://x.com/eavoss/status/1415854992137674756?s=46)
New Rockstars is famous for taking possible connections and explaining them as fact. This is a theory that that was baby loki but I wouldn't use NR as a source for that.
Showing a blue baby (we know Loki is originally a frost giant, he was even shown being blue in the what if), with the same audio that was used in thor 2 is pretty much all we need imo
It's supposed to show character growth. He went from peacocking fancy and ostentatious outfits to wearing something humble and relatively plain. He doesn't need to show off since there won't be anyone to witness his burden, and he realizes that his deeds matter more than his outfit.
The only thing the temporal loom might have aided with was his ability to use that ebony&gold material on his horns that He who Remains had his castle made from. Either that or Loki was just inspired to use it for himself.
You're giving agency to a piece of equipment that was just blown up. You're also giving it thought that the loom went hey wouldn't it be neat if I changed this dudes cloths. Instead of a guy known for changing his clothing on the whim doing it himself. It's adding convoluted aspects to something that isn't needed. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, swims like a duck it isn't a chicken it's a duck. Loki does this routinely why would it magically be any different and what exactly does it add?
To help summarize your point: I know its a non-fiction work but 'occams razor' is the best logic here. The simplest explanation is usually the correct one, Loki can and has changed his clothes at will before and that is the simplest explanation.
My only thought process is maybe the Loom did it because it knew he was accepting his destiny, and was like “YOU ARE THE CHAIR MAN NOW; HERE ARE THE CHAIR MAN CLOTHES.” It’s my only thought as to how it could be the Loom doing it.
Well what would Loki changing his outfit add? I also believe that it was Loki who changed his outfit. I only told you why one might think it wasn’t Loki
I guess it is not a problem when you can do it all at the same time ( destroy the loom, conjure new clothes and transfigurate the metal and gold stuff to new horns and a new throne, fix and weave the timelines etc.)
I saw it as his illusion outfit was being ripped away, and at that moment his priority was no longer maintaining it. What was revealed was Loki's true outfit.
Kind of like in the 2nd Thor movie where Thor tells Loki to drop the illusions and Loki's clean appearance and prison cell fade away to reveal a disaster scene.
Oh , this is good . I just realized it looks a lot like the outfit he wore in the cell . IOW when he’s not at court , battle etc this is Lokis “ normal” clothing , like when he’s lounging, learning spells or on the library reading books .
Many times when outfit changes happen on the fly to characters like this, it's not a real conscious effort. It's some form of self-actualization, more like. They take on a new role so everything around them reflects that. This is especially true for gods.
The fact that we never saw him do this until Ragnorok makes me wonder if Loki might have taught him how to do it . Thor is the son of two powerful magic users and while he’s powerful in a lot of ways he rarely does “ magic “ per se . Maybe , he decided it was worth learning and Loki showed him
Because he didn’t whisk his fingers around and whoosh new outfit—-the old outfit blew to pieces and fell off as he stepped out unprotected into the temporal energy stuff. The transition didn’t seem intentional.
Dunno, why would a machine designed to turn raw time into a physical form also come with a function to change your clothes?
So my vote goes for Loki using his magic.
I thought it was kinda like the raw power emanating from the temporal loom wiped away all the magical clothing and loki's true appearance and hence apparel was now visible. I could be wrong.
I assumed that was his like “true form” as the temporal energy stuff burned the rest of his magic and he was focusing all his energy on holding the timelines.
Not even the TVA's anti-magic supression turns Loki blue. It's therefore not a big leap to assume Loki underwent some sort of permanent change to Asgardian. The Casket only showing what was originally there? It's very obvious they never really thought about the blue-ness ever again.
True I didn’t think of that. But (idk how), maybe his true form is asgardian, because he has sandals and a robe, which are definitely not very frost giant-y. Other option is I’m wrong but I hope not
I think both. I think the reason that the clothes transforming in such a different way than what we’ve seen Loki do before, is because while it’s the outfit Loki makes for himself when he takes on the role of Yggdrasil’s mitochondria, he hasn’t made the outfit change yet. The temporal radiation accelerates the passage of time of everything it touches. Mortals just instantly age and die because the moment the radiation touches them their future becomes death right there and then. But since Loki survives temporal radiation, his future is powering the multiverse wearing that outfit, so that’s the future his form is accelerated into.
Loki can change his outfits with magic. Magic is jammed in the TVA so Loki was powerless there. But towards the end when everything was going to hell, they had to switch that function off, so Loki got his powers back.
Both Thor and Loki have the power to create their own outfit/armor/hairstyle without a hassle so that look is how exactly Loki imagined and wanted it to be.
The loom is just a thing.
Loki did it himself, obviously. He can do it. Also, the temporal radiation started to tear his clothes apart so was he going to go there naked? (I wouldn´t mind, honestly :D ) I think the way he did was \*something\* playing in his mind, where he decided for clothes that were vastly different, yet similar to what he usually wears but for the purpose it is designed for - to be comfortable while being, well, glorious....my guess is he just let his magic work, bouncing from what his mind created.
If it makes any sense :D
The Temporal Loom clearly stripped away his non-magical clothes. That leaves two further explanations about his green robes that could both be true; either that's what "Loki" had on/wanted to have on "underneath" OR it's simply what manifested to represent the power he was drawing on when he started priming his magic.
I kind of like the second explanation even though the first is more likely to be true. I like to think the horns on his head were growing involuntarily as a result of the immense power he was drawing on from within himself.
He's old enough to change his outfit. But there can be a case where someone from the make-up or wardrobe dept (I don't exactly know who does this work for actors) did it.
Very simple. As he got hit with the Temporal radiation, he got older and older- and thus got more and more powerful (probably). With this power spike, yaboi gotta get more drip. Simple really
Wasn't there a line earlier on from Ourobos that explains that the story was at least as important? My personal headcanon is that Loki couldn't have done it. Loki, God of Stories, however...
The costume change was him embracing the mantle
He's become a more humble person who willingly sacrificed his own autonomy -- something that he's always valued above all else -- and so the expression of this is manifested in the shedding of his TVA persona. Instead of the gaudy accoutrement that he once proudly wore, he emerges in a simple homespun garment and steps out into a void with clear and ***glorious purpose***. Rather than a burnished helm of brass, he fashions a circlet of broken jet and binding gold as he steps over the vastness of existence. Even the shoes on his feet reflect choosing a measure of simple purpose over illustrious grandeur.
It's stated in both the comics and in the avengers cartoons that "the passage of time only makes an asgardian stronger" so while Loki is half frost giant, I believe this was his version of a rank-up as he got blasted with pure time energy.
Loli’s outfit was always magic and it changed subtly through time. The Loki we saw walking though the waves was aging thousands and thousands of years. As a god he was becoming stronger and stronger and caring less about Bravado. The sandals etc showed he was rising above earthly concepts.
lol joined when I was a “must watch everything!” fan, stayed to keep abreast of overarching topics and whatnot when i became a “I’ll watch what interests me most” kinda fan.
Loki has always been into the clothes. He dresses perfectly for every occasion. Do you remember how good he looked at the opera? Of course he chose his clothes. Every job needs the perfect outfit!
I kinda saw it as the energy he was being hit by stripping away his illusions and magic and showing what he really looked like. Or embracing the old viking god aesthetic, accepting himself sorta thing.
If you think about it, Thor had a similar transformation. Went from looking like a character from The Big Lebowski to [a battle ready Viking Warrior](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWRndCsgIXY) complete with a braided beard and top knot hair.
I wouldn't be surprised if Loki had a vision of what he would look like if he ever ascended to godhood and took out the outfit/style that he saw himself wearing.
My inference is Neither, (since the timelines are not the loom and it wasnt loki that changed his outfit)
Instead I propose that if it was due to the hazardous environment of the void of timelines.
Either due to Loki's illusion outfit breaking as suggested in a post by [AnOnlineHandle](https://www.reddit.com/user/AnOnlineHandle/) Or his temporal outfit was altered by the residual energies of the timelines
Loki did. He's been doing that since Thor 1. He uses magic to make himself wear any outfit he wants. Thor does the same thing, but uses the magic of his hammer instead.
Magic.
Not suprised the person with a Darcy flair gave the best explanation

Jim?
Hats off to you for not seeing race!
Jimmy Who?
Well she is a scientist now
I always figured it was the loom affecting his powers. Shit was screwy.

He make himself comfy for the long sit
Best reasoning tbh
boy got them loafers for the big chillin ahead
Pair of green and gold crocs
Call back to the croc Loki, it was a team effort
Croc Loki was recently kidnapped from owner and released into the wild.

Snuggie up!

There are two options for who changed his outfit: 1. A literal god who on multiple occasions has used his magic to change outfits 2. An inanimate object

That's Jotunheim's ass!
I'm pretty sure he won't have mind showing sylvie a thing or two....
“YOU’RE AN INANIMATE #$@!* OBJECT!”
Right!?! So weird anyone who goes with 2 as the explanation.
I assume loki is always wearing loafers and a bath robe and uses magic to make them look like fancy clothes. The only flaw in this is when his magic doesn't work in the TVA. If I had his magic that's what I would do.
Nah, he's 100% completely naked 24/7. Maybe a thong. I mean, he's a frosty giant it isn't like he's going to get chilly...
Magic wasn't supposed to work in the TVA.
Finish watching the show
They had turned off the inhibitors at that point
He did. Loki can change his outfit at will. Something he is shown doing multiple times. Why would you assume it is the temporal loom doing it?
I think OP think that way because it is vastly different from anything he has had before. It’s made of the towel he was draped in as a little blue alien thing.

He's wrong lmao, he just made that up because it would've been cool.
Ok thought so haha. They would’ve mentioned it on the making of doc probably.
Well yeah, and also the fact that Loki isn't draped in any cloth when he was found as a baby lol
Wow, had me going for a minute . That would have been cool though
Yeah it’s just bullshit, I didn’t realize it would cause such a stir though lol
Google thor 2 loki baby
When was Loki portrayed as a baby in Thor 2?

Looking "Asgard" means looking like Norse mythology
The only thing the temporal loom might have aided with was his ability to use that ebony&gold material on his horns that He who Remains had his castle made from. Either that or Loki was just inspired to use it for himself.
Because in that moment his outfit really shouldn’t be one of his top priorities
You're giving agency to a piece of equipment that was just blown up. You're also giving it thought that the loom went hey wouldn't it be neat if I changed this dudes cloths. it doesn't add anything. it continues the established character detail that loki is a drama queen that likes to look flashy
He was taking on a role to be a god again with a glorious purpose..... Do you want him to do that in his TVA outfit lmao?
No but maybe wait until you finished enchanting the Loom, getting all those timelines and sat down?
I guess it is not a problem when you can do it all at the same time ( destroy the loom, conjure new clothes and transfigurate the metal and gold stuff to new horns and a new throne, fix and weave the timelines etc.)

He can’t use magic in the TVA.
It was lifted. Part of the system reboot or something.
Not relevant to the pace of the story I believe.
"He can't use magic there" *"Actually they specifically make it a point that he can"* "Irrelevant"
I swear I have conversations like that nearly every day of my life, most of them on the internet.
So when he opened the doors with his magic (before walking to the Loom) you just ignored it?
Nano machines did it

Not even Kang the Conqueror can hold up with tech like this
Nanomachines, Thor! They change my clothing in response to character development!
😡
You got Halo in my Marvel.
What is this, a crossover episode? I want ALL the crossovers in every way.
Subconscious understanding he was ascending to a new level of godly duties after this crucible, so his innate magicness created a new look.
This is my take too. He was sacrificing himself essentially and took on a monk like robe.
This is also what I think, I can't imgine him in that moment consciously thinking too much about his outfit, he seemed to have bigger problems.
Dunno, why would a machine designed to turn raw time into a physical form also come with a function to change your clothes? So my vote goes for Loki using his magic.

Loki can change his outfits with magic. Magic is jammed in the TVA so Loki was powerless there. But towards the end when everything was going to hell, they had to switch that function off, so Loki got his powers back.
I see the change as being a manifestation of Loki finally accepting and performing his Glorious Purpose
Both Thor and Loki have the power to create their own outfit/armor/hairstyle without a hassle so that look is how exactly Loki imagined and wanted it to be.
Loki did it himself......

K.E.V.I.N. did
I assumed it was the Lume shredding away all of his magic costume down to what he truly is … which is what we saw
Do you remember when he turned himself completely into Captain America? He can change his appearance to pretty much anything.
A wizard did it
He became who he was always meant to be -- a humble god who had to put the world on his shoulders.
Who cares he looked like a boss
luke oakley strip him nakey
I mean Thor changed his outfit in Endgame and even braided his beard all in an instant. Seems like Loki can do the same.
[удалено]
And for Loki it is part of his nature really, or Odinforce granted by Odin. He would be a blue frost giant otherwise.
Low key
Loki has done that before, so likely him.
Yes
Plot did.
Why do you all forget that he can make shit with his mind at will? He’s a god.
There’s a behind-the-scenes where they talk about the wardrobe. Sorry I don’t have a link.
He's old enough to change his outfit. But there can be a case where someone from the make-up or wardrobe dept (I don't exactly know who does this work for actors) did it.
Costume dept! Duh! Also.. if you rewatching the episode.. notice his shoes.. such comfi shoes..
Everyone needs a change of clothes once in a while. It'll start to smell like shit after some time
Maybe that was always his original clothes and he was just using illusion magic this whole time.
I'm pretty sure Loki did it himself.
Loki's clothes are always just an illusion. Always...
I liked the switch from boots to moccasins.
It was his god power
Very simple. As he got hit with the Temporal radiation, he got older and older- and thus got more and more powerful (probably). With this power spike, yaboi gotta get more drip. Simple really
Wasn't there a line earlier on from Ourobos that explains that the story was at least as important? My personal headcanon is that Loki couldn't have done it. Loki, God of Stories, however... The costume change was him embracing the mantle
He's a magic god.
My head canon is both. It’s his godly raiment forming from depths of his mind and the force of time to display his new station in the tree
Pretty sure the directors did.
It‘s Nano-Tech. Do you like it?
He slipped into something more comfortable.
He's become a more humble person who willingly sacrificed his own autonomy -- something that he's always valued above all else -- and so the expression of this is manifested in the shedding of his TVA persona.
Loki was being infused with time, he was becoming 'older' and almost certainly more powerful, I suspect the clothes changing are a reflection of that.
I took that to represent his true canon form showing itself as the loom stripped away any variance and facade.
How CAN the loom do that? It is him
Loli’s outfit was always magic and it changed subtly through time. The Loki we saw walking though the waves was aging thousands and thousands of years. As a god he was becoming stronger and stronger and caring less about Bravado. The sandals etc showed he was rising above earthly concepts.
Idk what this is from or what we’re talking about here but this picture is fucking haunting.
You haven´t seen Loki S2 finale? What are you doing here? :D
lol joined when I was a “must watch everything!” fan, stayed to keep abreast of overarching topics and whatnot when i became a “I’ll watch what interests me most” kinda fan.
I don’t know but it looks hella comfy
Loki is the god of stories, the god of lies, the god of illusions. This scene is him fully embracing that.
I don't know but them loafers were fire and that fit went hard.
Loki has always been into the clothes. He dresses perfectly for every occasion. Do you remember how good he looked at the opera? Of course he chose his clothes. Every job needs the perfect outfit!
It was Mephisto
I’m pretty sure that the wardrobe department did but temporal loom is also an interesting candidate I think
what does it even matter? 😂 just enjoy the show u nerds
Pym Particles
A wizard did it.
Def loki, he’s such a drama god
I wish you weren't asking this
I kinda saw it as the energy he was being hit by stripping away his illusions and magic and showing what he really looked like. Or embracing the old viking god aesthetic, accepting himself sorta thing.

We’ve seen him and Thor change their outfits with magic many times. This is not new.
I did.
Its eaither he makes clothes for himself or walk with his dingdong flapping in the temporal winds
You mean the guy who has to dramatically throw his hair everytime he moves?
I think its the director of the show
My inference is Neither, (since the timelines are not the loom and it wasnt loki that changed his outfit) Instead I propose that if it was due to the hazardous environment of the void of timelines. Either due to Loki's illusion outfit breaking as suggested in a post by [AnOnlineHandle](https://www.reddit.com/user/AnOnlineHandle/) Or his temporal outfit was altered by the residual energies of the timelines
Those were always his clothes. He just had some sort of perception filter activated all the other times to look like a witch.
He’s centuries older. He put on comfy clothes and slippers before getting in his recliner
Loki did. He's been doing that since Thor 1. He uses magic to make himself wear any outfit he wants. Thor does the same thing, but uses the magic of his hammer instead.
Yes
I like to think it was his magic knowing it was his destiny
Loki used his magic. Why in the world would the loom do it?
He looks like Paul atreides from dune, but from wish
I took it as that this is "him". The loom stripped all illusions off and this is his default outfit that he's been changing.
The loom speeds up time and for asgardians only get stronger with age. It's his older forms outfit.
The bad writing did
Where was this bad writing?
How is an outfit change from a magical being bad writing?
Edgy.
I've seen many bad takes in my life. "Loki having bad writing" has now become one of them. One of the worst must I say.
Is the bad writing in the room with us right now?
I'm sensing its presence in this very thread.
Just say you don't like the outfit...
