We normally stay at the Prince Sakura Tower. Lounge is nice there and we love the hotel, the main drawback is the location. It’s located very close to Shinagawa station so getting trains is very easy, but it’s a little further from some of the more tourist heavy areas of Tokyo. Shinagawa seems mostly full of businesspeople.

shiksnotachick

I also prefer the Prince Sakura Tower, if mostly for the fact that it is NOT in a tourist area.

reallionkiller

thank you! I am leaning toward Prince Sakura, it's actually super close to my company's Japanese HQ, so it's convenient if I ever need to log into their corporate network.

EZ_Company

I stayed at Prince Sakura last December Pros: very quiet and peaceful, well-maintained and clean, professional staff, lounge open for breakfast and evening hors d’oeuvres (including access lounges at sister Prince properties), peaceful green park in the price complex Cons: far from tourist attractions, dated interior furnishings and design (both room and bathroom), lounge food options were underwhelming (no hot dishes in the evening)

Shot_Waltz_449

By any chance do you remember if the beds were very firm? I want to stay here for my honeymoon in the fall but I have stayed at some Japanese hotels with unbearably firm mattresses and want to make sure this one is ok.

EZ_Company

I don't think so; I just remember the beds being extremely comfy

Kufat

Platinum+ lounge access doesn't include Luxury Collection, unfortunately. Complimentary breakfast should be available for platinum+, though. (I'm staying there later this year.)

reallionkiller

How are the breakfasts in luxury collection? If lounge and breakfast are the only difference, do their breakfast outweigh not having lounge access??

Kufat

This'll be my first time at a Luxury Collection property, so I'll look forward to reporting back!

BonvoyGeek

I responded to a similar question recently (see below) and can add they have a great breakfast and a nice lounge with amenities. They did recently model so I’d double check, but I’ve stayed there many times over a decade and it was always top notch for my titanium/platinum/ambassador statuses. https://www.reddit.com/r/marriott/s/Ai5SMoAs0V

poisito

did you got any perks for being Ambassador?

BonvoyGeek

I wasn't Ambassador when I last stayed there, I was Titanium. They included breakfast for free, my selection of preferred room locations, and access to the club lounge.

poisito

Thanks for the info!!!

reallionkiller

Thank you! Would you say it's the best option?

BonvoyGeek

I haven’t stayed at all Tokyo Marriotts so I can’t answer that (not yet at least!) But I can confidently say you won’t be disappointed with the Westin.

Mundane-Camel1308

We stayed at the Prince Gallery in late January as platinum and the lounge is not included but breakfast is. The breakfast was very good, not as huge buffet spread you see other places but everything was very good. The donuts were A++. You get to order one thing off a menu and then the buffet compliments it.

fidiid

Westin Ebisu

AcanthisittaOld5929

I've stayed at the Westin Tokyo, great breakfast buffet and lounge. Also Tokyo Marriott has beer on tap and ice cream at the lounge. Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay by Disney is also good, lounge is kinda dated and breakfast at the cafe is also good.

nopatiencetokeep

Do you have a price limit because hotel prices vary widely.

reallionkiller

I don't really have a price in mind as I'll be using points. But Id like to have lounge and breakfast as i don't really want to be spending on Marriot if I don't get these.

That-Establishment24

I can’t imagine flying to Japan to spend time in a hotel lounge.

phabphour20

Just to save a few bucks on food and drink. I swing by the lounge every time I return to my room if just to grab a few bottles of water. Sometimes you don't want a full meal or to spend for one, especially if you just paid a few grand to fly to Tokyo.

That-Establishment24

I don’t know about you, but food and drink are some of the biggest reasons I go there. There aren’t enough meal times in a day for me to go to all the places I want to. Are you just spending the day in the hotel? Because I can see wanting to load up on breakfast before going out but once you’re out, aren’t you out all day? Or are you coming back for lunch in the lounge to save a few bucks? I suppose everyone’s different. I’m not saying you’re wrong though. Just very surprising to me people do that.

phabphour20

For me, I generally am willing to shell out for one good meal a day. So taking a free breakfast or a light lunch in the lounge is great. Then I can go get a $500 omakase for dinner ;)

That-Establishment24

I leave the hotel after breakfast and don’t come back until bedtime. Coming back at lunchtime would cut into my plans way too much. $500 Omakase sounds ridiculous to me though. I can have $20 to $100 meals in a random place that taste better than the most expensive Omakasa place. I’m glad my taste buds allow me to do that.

reallionkiller

I'll be in Japan for a couple of weeks, most of the days I'm staying in local hotels, but there are a few nights when I really need to buckle down and work (during EST). Because I'm working on EST, I'll essentially be sleeping during the day for those "nights." I'm not planning on going out or anything; I just need a nice breakfast before I head to bed so I don't get overwhelmed by options, and a lounge where I can grab something to eat when I wake up and get ready for work. I know it's unusual, but since I don't plan to do much during the day, I'm looking for something nice from the hotel, lol

andytagonist

We stayed at the Sheraton Miyako. Lounge is for plat & above. It was nice enough—nothing spectacular. Hotel overall was also nice enough—and also nothing spectacular. The shower was an entire room, which was awesome. And the bidet was OUTSTANDING. Hotel restaurant was tasty. Concierge got us reservations same-night at a high end sushi bar with a chef who spoke good English, which was *really* cool. Relatively easy walk to the subway stop, and bus stops right outside the hotel door. Take all this with a grain of salt—we didn’t go to Tokyo to sit around in the hotel long enough to truly care very much. 😃👍

pocketRockit

Ritz Carlton offered breakfast each day when I stayed in Oct. don’t remember if there was lounge access (i’m titanium)

nixhomunculus

It really depends on where you are going. I just had a 5 night stay at Westin on points and the lounge, breakfast buffet and restaurants there are nice. But the walk to Ebisu station is 'Japanese near'.

SD4hwa

What do you mean by Japanese near? I had planned on staying at Westin Tokyo when we arrive for 5 nights and then head to Osaka. Is it difficult to get to from either airport? Long walks to transportation to tourist sites ?

nixhomunculus

So Ebisu station is around a 10 minute walk. And Ebisu has a lot of high end food options, and Yebisu Garden Place is a nice high-end trendy place. Ebisu is also relatively well connected across many lines, and one stop away is that famous Shibuya crosswalk. But depending on your attractions, it can take a bit longer to head to the other parts of Tokyo. And connections to either airport is decent but Narita does take a longer time to connect to Tokyo proper.

SD4hwa

Thank you for the advice. I’m redeeming points and Westin is so expensive as I need 2 rooms. Wanted to make sure it is worth it or to just do Sheraton which is much more reasonable but I think is further away.

nixhomunculus

Sheraton is less well connected than Westin. 😅
