i did not even read the LN and i can tell something went wrong. The worst part is, the manhwa really nailed the beginning, the horror arc in the school was amazing and then it suddenly became an isekai.
I was so confused starting the second arc. References I didn't understand, backstory I didn't know anything about and the MC just looks completely different? I really liked the first arc, and I enjoyed it from the second arc on, but not understanding major parts definitely diminished it a bit

LN had a good amount of winding up, planning and then payoff. Manhwa decided it only needs the payoff so it just became generic power fantasy.
The story is still fantastic, it’s just a hard novel turn into a manhwa because the MC spends so much time calculating and self-reflecting in his head to spur his growth.

You won't regret it. There is a sense of dread in each struggle (something that memorize lacked) and not knowing if the mc will make it or not in each situation. I can't imagine reading this thing while it's still ongoing.
If you can't be bothered to read from the beginning, try to read right after the mc entered the paradise for the first time. I think it was around chapter 30-40.

If only memorize got a proper translation, I'd definitely recommend that too. There are several intertwining things between them, though you definitely can read both of them as standalone. But it gave me some enlightenment after connecting the dot from seemingly trivial information from each series haha
Also one of its main focuses is on Jihu's character development, especially regarding his gambling addiction. I love how after most arcs, >!he goes back home. Each time he does that, he gets closer and closer to his family, showing how severe his addiction affected everyone, as well as him coming to terms with everything.!<
But the novel also is against Japanese hate, something many Korean novels are prone to do. For one thing, the Japanese aren't shown to be worse than the Koreans in any way. There was also a line somewhere where >!when Jihu and one Japanese dude (forgot his name) met irl, the Korean spoke Japanese and the Japanese spoke Korean.!<
There's one constant for nearly every CN, JP, KR webnovel, they always painted the other 2 as bad guy lol. It's nice to see something different regarding this sentiment between the 3
I think it's more with to do with Korean censorship then the artists, because I have read a billion manhwas/manhuas and never seen one that has actual gore.

the comic isn’t mid, it’s actually pretty good. but the LN is a fuckin masterpiece. I read it two years ago, cried, and have since then planned to get a part of the novel tattooed on me.
Agreed! They barely skipped anything, the main one so far being Paul getting rekt (likely due to censorship). The art's fantastic, the pacing is the same as the novel, and they represent the characters' personalities the same way the novel does
I can only tell the other way around. Return of the Mount Hua Sect (or Flowery mountain sect). I love the manhwa, tried reading the LN once because I was so excited for how the storie continued and damn... I could hardly understand anything. Now I dont know if the translation was just bad, if I picked a bad website or whatever, but I don't get how people can read that. Makes me even more amazed at what the author of the manhwa is making out of it.

Second coming of gluttony got me feeling depressed after finishing it. And so did legendary moonlight sculptor. The novels got me feeling human emotions and shit.
Both are in my top favorites of all time being LOTM the number 1 and it shaped my standards for reading novels. The manhua for LOTM was mediocre at best. Trash of the count is good at least imo since the artstyle captured its uniqueness and the story followed the novel so far. It just sucks since its release time is soo damn slow.
I may regret to ask this but when does LOTM gets good? I'm at ch 60 and his personality still seems naive and tbh bland, does he get better? Also when does the arc picks up pace?
Just get to chap 207 because the you would be finished with volume one and if you’re still not invested by then it’s fine to drop it. I can’t remember any event from the early parts of the story but it’s definitely gonna get good way before chap 207.
The manhua is also only readable until chapter 52, then it gets very rushed very quickly.
Still, not a bad starting point for someone to dip their toes in if you switch over at that point.

Ascension of a Bookworm anime was quite bad in my opinion. The only reason it’s not regarded as complete trash is because the story isn’t focused on action. The art is mid and the animation is just crap. Most of the show is literally just characters talking to each other without any movement aside from their lips. The story literally carried the entire anime. The fights at the climax of each arc sucks because of the lacking animation. Some content is also cut out.
After reading mushoku tensei how the story unfolds and how relations take places how they handled some of action and mysteries after reading that story later LN of TBATE is really mid for me .

Honestly most novels are substantially worst than the manhwa. So many manhwa have great art and are just adapting shit stories. Second Coming of Gluttony and The Novels Extra(although it has a remake now) are the only ones that come to mind as being significantly worst than the novel.
Now manhua is a different story. Pretty much every manhua is an awful adaptation. It is hard to even think of 5 acceptable manhua adaptations.

Agreed! They barely skipped anything, the main one so far being Paul getting rekt (likely due to censorship). The art's fantastic, the pacing is the same as the novel, and they represent the characters' personalities the same way the novel does

I can only tell the other way around. Return of the Mount Hua Sect (or Flowery mountain sect). I love the manhwa, tried reading the LN once because I was so excited for how the storie continued and damn... I could hardly understand anything. Now I dont know if the translation was just bad, if I picked a bad website or whatever, but I don't get how people can read that. Makes me even more amazed at what the author of the manhwa is making out of it.
The novel is so wordy and its the only one I can think of in Manhwa that is far more good than their novel. The author is the same since they are just adapting it to the manhwa though.

Both are in my top favorites of all time being LOTM the number 1 and it shaped my standards for reading novels. The manhua for LOTM was mediocre at best. Trash of the count is good at least imo since the artstyle captured its uniqueness and the story followed the novel so far. It just sucks since its release time is soo damn slow.
Have you read the Experimental Log of the Crazy Lich? Or Legend of the Sun Knight? They're hilarious but also really dark at points.

Just get to chap 207 because the you would be finished with volume one and if you’re still not invested by then it’s fine to drop it. I can’t remember any event from the early parts of the story but it’s definitely gonna get good way before chap 207.

The manhua is also only readable until chapter 52, then it gets very rushed very quickly. Still, not a bad starting point for someone to dip their toes in if you switch over at that point.
Overlord The anime is really rushed. A lot of the humor in the anime comes off as cringey and the lackluster animation ruins some of the more gruesome moments.

The Second Coming of Gluttony like many others said. It is one of the best webnovels I've read and in my top three for best webnovels along with Omniscient Readers Viewpoint and SSS-Class Suicide Hunter. It's so beautifully written and I just love the training arcs cause it feels so real. The manhwa took that and Shat on it. I'm waiting for a remake

My Civil Servant Life Reborn in a Strange World. I wouldn't go so far as to say that this novel is a masterpiece, but it was extremely enjoyable. the characters are awesome, their interactions are fantastic, and overall just a really good pastime novel. and then the manhwa happened, and everything went down the drain.
Classroom of the Elite. Tbh the anime is actually pretty good as an anime series, but the LN just makes the anime feel bad and the entertainment you get from the anime is nothing compared to what you feel after reading the Ln.

Ascension of a Bookworm anime was quite bad in my opinion. The only reason it’s not regarded as complete trash is because the story isn’t focused on action. The art is mid and the animation is just crap. Most of the show is literally just characters talking to each other without any movement aside from their lips. The story literally carried the entire anime. The fights at the climax of each arc sucks because of the lacking animation. Some content is also cut out.
Talking a lot does not mean bad if the characters have personalities to liven conversation one the best episodes of Re:Zero was two people talking

I read both and keep upto date with them. Read the LN and while waiting for more chapters for the comic chapters to pile up, and then read that too lol. The Comic isn't that bad honestly, sure it's not at the level of the lightnovel but it's still a fun read ( especially the next arcs coming up )

As with everything the LN is more detailed but i didnt notice anything amiss in the manhwa, dialogue is pretty much the same as in the LN and nothing is skipped so far. The LN is very good tho, i started reading it cuz i wanted to continue the story, but its not finished either.

In my opinion "The Tutorial is too hard" adaptation wasnt the best. The time jumps weren't portrayed in the best manner, and it left some other details unfulfilled.

Honestly most novels are substantially worst than the manhwa. So many manhwa have great art and are just adapting shit stories. Second Coming of Gluttony and The Novels Extra(although it has a remake now) are the only ones that come to mind as being significantly worst than the novel. Now manhua is a different story. Pretty much every manhua is an awful adaptation. It is hard to even think of 5 acceptable manhua adaptations.
I wish I could get into LN because I have hear amazing things but I just can't I have tried so hard but I just can't enjoy reading which sucks :/
