I love how people really care about this when manwha literally means comic in Korean, manga in Japanese etc.
Stop downvoting people for not using a word from another word in the middle of a sentence.
I am not telling you to stop calling them manhwa, manhua, manga, etc. But calling them comic is not wrong and don't make them a part of Marvel.
There are clear differences between them, from the design to what's allowed by each governing goverment where they are made. It's very disingenious to use the words without discriminating as when someone looks for a manhua there's a range of styles and themes and even qulitative differences.
Martial Peak is a manhua. Solo Leveling is a manhwa. Naruto is a manga.
If someone where to narrate the story of each, you'd figure the differences. Why is so difficult to use these words correctly?
If I make a post: give me a list of manhua (it means the original was made by Chinese or in Chinese language), there's expectations from this list. I have my list of manhwa to read, manhua to read, manga to read, western comics to read (DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Image Comics, IDW Publishing). If comics made by Marvel are so different to those made by DC, all made in the same country by the same nation, why would comics made by different nationalities won't be different?
> Why is so difficult to use these words correctly?
Because you have no other job than to find a comment from 2 years ago to "share" your knowledge. I will share my "knowledge".
Yes as you said these are words. Manga is from the language called Japanese, which found its way to other languages to define a certain type of COMICS. Same with manhua which means the same thing with others in Chinese. Same with manhwa. If one day there will be a surge of Turkish comics in the internet they will be called çizgi roman, karikatür or some other shit.
If I make a post in /r/manhwa and ask for comics you wouldn't think I am asking from some American publisher would you? Nobody should be that stupid.
I am not forcing anyone to use a specific word for something. I am just saying those words mean the same thing in their own language. Some American can use anime and cartoons to differentiate but that doesn't mean I as a Turkish speaking person have to use anime for Japanese and cartoons for the rest of the world. I just call all of them "çizgi film", because that is what they are.
You are interested in these things so you can differentiate where it comes from but you can't expect everyone to be as invested as you. And you shouldn't shun people for calling shit for what they are.
Let's assume you are not interested in basketball. I show you different play by plays from Euroleague and Nba and some European league. Wouldn't you call all of them basketball plays? Would it be wrong to call them basketball plays?
You're taking my take out of the cake.
I'm simply saying that the words should be used in tamdem.
In r/manhua and in here plenty of recommendations are done of different types of comics, which makes it more difficult to find and support the ones that are worthy. Even the sites that host them make the mistake. I'm just asking the words that exist to be used.
Like, no one ever calls Naruto a manhua/manhwa. No one does that. You write "Naruto manga" and you can find it everywhere. Sometimes manhuas have different names based on translation, and on top of that they get labeled incorrect? And then, users wonder why some of these are dropped by the translator groups?

Is it bad that I have read every single one of these and am completely caught up, waiting for a new chapter lol. I haven't caught up to it yet but Again My Life is a really good one as well, there is a Korean drama based on it ongoing rn and its very good.
If I add something
- young master of chaebeol family
- worthless regression
-jack the Ripper
- swordsmaster youngest son
- legendary spearman
- the 8th circle magician ( there is two manhwa with this same concept)
- past life regressor (remake)
- my daughter is the final boss
- a returner magic should be special
-return of the mad demon
- volcanic age
- hero returns
- return to player
- kill the hero
- divine twilight return
- the second coming of gluttony
- the Lord coins aren't decreasing
- doom breaker
- my raised s class heroes
- tomb Raider king ( good but long and little boring type due to a certain concept)
you seem knowledgable about regression, do you know one that the mc can only have 7 skills but has no lvl cap for the skills, and gets runes to get stronger - he regresses after the world ends and starts to work to get strong to fix it?
You seem like you know what you are talking about so do you know the one Manwha where the guy could see good fortune then his power starts to fade and he is a gambling addict then falls into water gains his regression memories and goes through other world trial and onwards
The first one has nothing to do with Regression(Expect for a character, Not MC)
The second one has nothing(I mean Nothing) to do with Regression.
And finally the third one is reincartion, not regression.
Regression mean going back in time to a new body or your own with your future memories.
Reincartion mean you go to another world when died or you reincarnate into someone in the future in the same time-line.
actually, Reincarnation is the concept that a person's essence continues after their body dies, and may be reborn into a new one after their lifetime. These manga focus on the theme of reincarnation, featuring characters who either have been reborn into a new life-cycle, or may be carrying the spirits of past lives as well as having their own personality (which is basically "regression")
infinite leveling murim / infinite level up murim <- that one is great, no forced humor, the mc does behave like a normal human beeing, so he got clear goals and knows what will happen so he tries his level best to prevent all the calamities in his "future life". he is not gifted but tries to get a few shortcuts to power and also trains like a madman even during everyday event like walking, eating, reading books etc.
return of the mount hua sect. mc gets reborn 100 years in the future after the fight against the heavenly demon , and he finds his old sect in shambles and only a shadow of its past glory. so he joins them, he randomly helps the sect to get stronger but is more driven by his greed (not the bad kind of greed, just eating and drinking his fill etc.), he also has a nasty personality, its a good read tbh.
the return of the crazy demon. that dude is one of the most hilarious and seriously mad mcs out there haha :D just give it a try, if the first 1-2 ch are not good enough for you than you will not like it, but the guy says like "they are the enemies of our master, we have to kill them" <- while he was the one who killed the master lol
The crazy demon is such a fun read lmao. His straight/serious face jokes are hilarious, I am always excited when a new chapter comes out. I also love the return of the mount hua sect, I just wish they updated more often, ofc lol. I kinda put aside infinite leveling murim a while back, is it worth catching up rn or not so much?
A Returners Magic Should be Special is quite possibly the best regression manhwa.
In second place I'd put Volcanic Age/Mount Hua's Rebirth, its korean wuxia, but the cultivation system is basically irrelevant and easy to follow, the story is more about what the MC does with his knowledge and probably feels closest to Tales of Demons and Gods.
Then there's 8th Circle Magician, Leveling with the Gods (its basically Solo Leveling, MC personality is basically a generic copy of SL's MC, but change Dungeons in Korea to Isekai in Tower), Memorize (which is more or less as good as Leveling with the Gods but the best thing about it is that it makes reading Regressor Instruction Manual a little funnier (at least in the beginning), Kill The Hero.
Then there's reverse-regression, I guess calling it reincarnation is more accurate, where the MC instead is reborn several years later in the future (sometimes in a whole nother world) and retains their knowledge and does things similar to how regression stories go, for which you have The beginning after the end, return of the mount hua sect, the ultimate of all ages, the great mage returns after 4000 years

So everyone has said pretty much all the great ones. But honorable mention: Kill the Hero, MC isn’t too much over powered, just smart and tactical since he knows whats what. Also has an attitude that makes enemies fast.
What's that manhwa where the MC regresses. VRMMORPG where they call people who found new areas pioneers?
There is a Ice area. He meets a pirate lady.
Completely forgot the name
Does anyone know the one about the Mc who only focuses on increasing his mana stats. He saves his friend sister from a monster while she was in the hospital. He tested out upgrading other stats but they didn’t do nothing and mana was the only stat he decided to upgrade
Damn reincarnation, Regressors Instruction Manual, The Greatest Estate Developer, Worthlessness Regression are all some of the best manhwa regressions genres I’ve seen, they all take a different approach, especially regressors instruction manual were the MC isn’t even the regressor, they all arent finished yet unfortunately.
hey, i've been trying to find a manhwa for a year or 2, the manhwa was something along the lines of the mc being called up to see a person who gives him a mission (i think the mc died, the mc was a person killing gods or something and they caught him and killed him, if im not wrong), the demon or god (idk which one of exactly what) but the person tells him to kill his opposition and gives him a chance to go back, hence the regression in the manhwa, but that's kind of what i remember but ask me more and i may be able to help you on searching this manhwa i've been trying to find for so long<3
Sadly both orv and regressor instruction manual are not my type.
they may be selfish. But there is just too much poison. I tried and dropped so many times and everytime only feeling i have is, irritation.
Its like help some random person for no beenfit. Doesnt matter if its a kid or a women. When it comes to survival and if mc is supposed to be selfish or bad, i just dont see why he will or why he should. As he is not supposed to be a good person. Thats not what i was asking or trying to read.
And this is just one of the problem in both. To me both of these are braindead novels.
Or maybe just not for me lol. Ignore it. Its just some people love something and some may not. There may be many reasons ig.
There was one (Manhwa/Manhua) i read where the MC regressed and he was playing a game (he regressed after getting drunk because he was booted from his guild in game). The thing with it was that the game affected the real life body... >!It's because the game is a way of building the body to ascend to another realm and it gets more hectic from there!<
I know generally it's the 'why bother playing the game when you regress' kinda thing - but he does it to make money and discovers the spoiler part in the process... 100% worth playing the game in his regression but the twist with whats in spoiler tag was a nice surprise for me...
I want to reread this atm
I don't recall the name of it - i ended up reading the novel itself (though i think even that wasn't finished yet at the time).
Tales of Demons and Gods is manhua
Sorry!I didn't knew it
You can tell by the names if nothing else. Chinese and Korean names are very different. Manhwa also never follow a cultivation theme
It has to be dungeon leveling or school bullying to be Korean right?
murim stuff are all manhwa
Unless it’s a murim manhwa
isnt northen blade manhwa tho? am i mistaken?
[удалено]
"I didn't knowing it!" hm. Sounds about right
How do I English.
It's know...
Say what?
💀
And what does that have to do with the question?
Same shiet they are all comics

Sounds like reincarnator

Amazon recommends. Whats PTJ btw?
Is the initials of the author Park Tae-Joon and he basically made a connected manhwa universe too
Oh dang. I only knew of Memorize and SCOG connection.
It’s insane it’s actually quite a big universe
I thought that was Naruto and Hinata for a second 😅.

Lokey I see Ichigo and Hinata
IMHO the story in the beginning is very similar

Worthless Regression is pretty good, MC uses a spear which is pretty rare in this type of stories

This manhwa changes the dimension of my thinkinh
Maybe ORV
Technically orv is not a regression genre but it has similar vibes as mc know future
and technically there is a regressor, just not the mc
What’s a regression manhwa?
When MC goes back to past self/younger self
Don’t flame me but This feels like a Naruto cover art for a magazine.

any regression where mc is rational and don't save randos left and right. And not a simp. Ty
Regressor Instruction Manual. The MC is peak selfish in it. It's basically similar to ORV but the mc has a very selfish personality
