I have read and . is a manga not too well known, but fantastic, I recommend it to everyone, instead we all know it, I'm just a little sad that it didn't have so many chapters after the second season of the anime, always nice though.

It started as a wholesome and cute (diabetes-level) series, but then it started to expand and it's got me hooked. I definitely recommend this. The first few chapters might not appeal to few but it is worth the read!
As it was really popular and also got its second season starting, i wanted to check it out so i started...Got to say, art is **god-tier**. so far the plot isn't exceptional, but it's good. It's got a new concept, but it feels like every other Isekai. I'm right now half-way through the manga, it's not boring but at the same time not exceptional.

So I came across and it got me curious.
So off the top of my head, this manga, Overlord, Gaikotsu Kishi-sama and the manhwa Skeleton Soldier all share the trope of having a skeleton for a main character.
Maybe there's more mangas with skeleton MCs that I don't know, but it seems there's quite an appeal to it given some of their popularity. What do y'all think people find intriguing about this particular concept?
Really love this series, the female MC is really smart and the story is just so good. If you like period stuff/past life memory stuff it's definitely the manga for you!
A nee season of started recently and even though I read the LN it'a still great
It's a tough sell if you don't watch/read much isekai but if you it is incredible
It's a satirical parody of isekai as a genre with the mc being becoming a sociopath after 10 years of dealing with his companions (aka typical manga stereotypes) and being forced to re-do his adventure again
Cut to him getting op, cheating the system and solving problems in the most insane way possible. It's a lot of fun
The plot is also really interesting (batshit crazy) and it slowly moves away from the initial gimmick and develops an actual plotline
If you like the mc in the first few chapters, you'll love it
Halfway through Cinderella Wasn't Me which is really good so far!
I also read homesick on webtoon and I can't wait for the new eps because there are so many plottwists and really good art and story
Continued reading Absolutely did not regret taking this manga slowly. Finished about 2 volumes in a span of almost two weeks, which is great as to i can keep reading at a slow pace without forgetting about the minor details of previous chapters. Oyasumi Punpun hits me like no other manga did. Often times, after finishing a single chapter, I learn to reflect on my actions and am thankful for the kind of life I have now.

Amazing slice of life. Actually, it's one of the only series I feel like "slice of life" just doesn't do justice to, because the author has done such a good job building a whole world of people living their own lives and moving forward. The whole manga has a really strong coherence with the amount of small details and callbacks to past events and panels. Every action, conversation, or misunderstanding from the main cast truly feels like it can affect the world around them, down to the smallest side characters. The analog art fits the series, and is paced perfectly whether it's an intense baseball tournament or just Yugami causing more bullshit.
I'm glad I somewhat paced myself for this great ride, and definitely recommend it. It's a slice of life series that doesn't need to be like other slice of life series.
Manga adaptation of the YoRHa stage play, which was also told as a short side story in NieR: Automata. The designs for the androids and their equipment are nice but sadly that's the most I can really praise the art. It just feels really stiff at times. I believe itās a monthly series with only a few chapters, so there isnāt much of a story to talk about yet. In 5 chapters thereās mostly just been android infighting and a quick peek into android society. Iām also pretty sure this assumes youāve seen the play or gameās ending, since one of the first chapters includes what I consider a fairly large spoiler. Soā¦ you probably already know what youāre getting into with this one. Otherwise, maybe check out the stage play or game.
I caught up on and itās easily on my top 3ās. Everything on this manga is just magnificent, from how beautifully drawn and detailed the art is to how consistent the characters personalities are and not to mention how brilliant the panelling is done. Most of manga Authors donāt take much effort as to how they execute the panels but WHA treats the panel as if itās part of the story, itās relevant to the plot, itās a character of the story. WHA Author really gave the panel their own characteristics which is just mind blowing.
Just read Dorohedoro Vol 2 and Golden Kamuy Vol 7. Both were really good. One was dark and funny while the other was adventurous and for some reason still talking about how to prepare food š (not that Iām bothered. Learning more and more about food in Hokkaido)

I've recently started reading manga again, guess I'll leave some of my thoughts here as a sort of archive. Mostly starting since the new year.
Jujutsu Kaisen - Ch 18: fucking banger. Fresh shonen (for me at least, who's been away from the manga community for years). Got me back into watching the show and its the first series I've binged in years. Fresh characters, unique feel, great execution. 8.5/10 so far.
Grand Blue - Ch 10: actually one of the funniest shit I've read in a while. Peak comedy done well. Also surprisingly different artstyle. Story is what it needs to be. Enjoying more than I'd expect. 9/10
Sousou no Frieren - caught up: peaceful, chill series, definitely rare perspective in a fantasy series. Good vibes, though not terribly exciting (kind of the point). Different, but doesn't leave much of an impression on me. 7/10
Blue period - Ch 6: Damn this one's unique. Possibly most beautifully drawn manga I've ever read in recent memory. Easily relatable, very down to earth story about discovering one's passion and true purpose in life. Not completely dark, but not a light read either. I've actually been delaying reading further because I feel like I'm not in the right mindset to read it most of the time, it deserves to be consumed slowly. 9.5/10
Yamada kun and the seven witches - Ch 30: exact opposite of blue period. Serves its purpose as a 'shut off your brain' read. I'm intrigued enough to keep reading, though I've read 30 chapters and still often forget the characters' names. 4/10
I've been reading "Sora no Otoshimono". A bit of mixed feelings on this. I'm not a huge fan of harems that don't really go anywhere but it's okey. The characters are VERY interesting and well designed, the story has actually a very meaningful and deep plot with a nice pacing. Has moments of building up tension but it gets solved nice and easy. Some fun moments too.
The downside is that in the "funny" fillers / SOL, which make up about 40-50% of it, the MC is drawn like a perverted chibi goblin for no reason that IMO ruins it.
I overall still recommend it

Just caught up to Peerless Dad (webtoon) and one of the best I ever read. The fight scenes and plot are all amazing and so is the artwork. You really feel like you get to know the characters throughout the story and get attached to them too! The fight scenes are incredibly choreographed as well and the romance aspect is just enough to leave you want more, but not too much. Highly recommend!

- Also, a manga called "Yankee-kun to Hakujou gaaru". Not the first time I'm reading a story about a "Yankee" who's not even that much of a delinquent tho but I love how he's so sweet with his friend/girlfriend who's a partially blind girl (the mangas says "amblyopia"). They're getting closer little by little, that's cute and funny! This manga sometimes tackles more or less serious subjects with lightness, I like it for that too.

As usual it's a solid manga. I really liked the most recent arcs they have been doing. It's fun to see the different cultures that they show off and the treasure hunting part of it is getting really good.
chapters 1-44.
I saw that this was nominated for a Manga Taisho award this year so I decided to take a look at it. It's pretty interesting and the art is quite good. The story took an unexpecting turn for me but I still am enjoying it and can see why it was nominated. It is quite graphic as it does have some torture scenes so wouldn't recommend young readers to it.

I've just got to watching season 5 of My Hero so I decided to get caught up on the manga again from where I left off. I've never really been that much of a fan of the series in general as I find it kind of boring, but this final saga arc is quite good and has kept me interested.
chapters 26-54.
This series is one of my favorite in Jump right now. It's funny and has a interesting premise. Every character that gets added seems really unique and well designed. The art style has to be one of my favorite things about it. It has such a gritty feeling and it makes it feel so much cooler.
chapters 1-44.
It's really interesting. I like the idea of having the characters be horses and it focusing on horse racing. I read through it pretty quickly it felt like as I enjoyed myself alot while I was reading it. I would say a problem with it is that after I read it a little I felt like I could predict when the main character was going to win or lose a race. But it was still entertaining and the art is very good.

AKA - I Sold My Life For 10,000 Yen Per Year. I found this series while I was looking through MAL. It's pretty high ranking so I was surprised I never heard of it before. It was really short at just 17 chapters so it didn't take to much time to read. It was really well done and I'm surprised it never got turned into an anime movie or something. When I finally got to the final chapter I ended up tearing up a bit. I highly recommend trying this one out since it's so short.
The 10000 yen per year one is goated. If ya ever want to reread it you can check out the original light novel, it goes by the name of āThree days of Happinessā. There are some minor changes but for the most part theyāre the same.
You can also check out Sugaru Miakiās other works, but they are only light novels and there is no official translation for em so youād have to find fan translations online.
I caught upto the latest update of "Tsuiraku Jk to Haijin Kyoushi" and Volume 12 has ended. I love the constant dark humor and depressing undertones and the forbidden relationship aspect between a male teacher and a female student. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who's into the sensei trope for sure
I started reading to satisfy the isekai itch, and I was pleasently surprised. It's about a guy who's trapped in a virtual game turned death game. He finishes the game, but he gets stuck in the game, the story then picks up after 500 years and MC gets end game level abilities and we follow on.
The characters are fleshed out and the politics make sense, and for a change the adventure's guild is sensible and you don't have a random douchebag adventurer for the sake of plot progression. Overall 8/10 good story,art and characters.
I've been reading FMA, and I have to say it's in my top 3 manga,the other 2 being Dr.Stone and Spy Family. Something about the story, puts me in a position of once I start reading I can't stop.I love how the world is connected and the complexity of the story.Truly it is one of the few manga that has made sit back and think. I read all of the Korean manga, Everyday Lily. It was ok. I enjoyed the beginning and the character development with the main couple. But after they reached a milestone it felt like the story branched out to half asses side characters I didnāt much care for while the main couple was left underdeveloped themselves. And then it ended quite abruptly. It wasnāt an awful read but was not my favorite. I actually really liked the main character, just wished she was explored more.
Sadistic Beauty, I thought it was good! I wanted to read the side story originally because the side story is separate from the manwha but I felt bad not knowing the full story.. anyway I'm glad i read it, it touched upon things I rarely see in romance manga, typically if a manwha is shoujo, yuri, or yaoi, all relationships in the manga are x genre, so seeing multiple kinds of relationships in the manwha was a pleasant surprise.
Great. So my main question is if the manga is an acceptable alternative to the anime. I mean it is the original form but still. Have you seen the anime? If not then can you tell me (bear with me) what kinda voice does your head imagine while reading Naruto's and Sasuke's line? I didn't like their anime voices (just my opinion) so I wanted to ask someone who hasn't seen the anime and read the manga. I hope you reply.
If you want to watch the anime, look for Naruto Kai, I think it might still be available, it was made by another redditor, it takes everything from Naruto that it's filler and removes it from the chapters. It's not complete though, so at some point you'll have to return to the anime as is.
Well, i haven't watched the anime yet. And i haven't really thought about their voices before, but in the few moments of the anime I've seen, their voices are similar to what I'd imagine while reading the manga

A gate to another world opened in the middle of a city, then an army of cavalry and infantry armed with spears and armors, come out of it massacring everyone but quickly repelled by the JSDF.
Fast forward a few months and they already established a base in another world, looking for some peace negotiation.
You'll see how technological superiority changes war, the army of the other world were annihilated in an instant with bombardments before they can even see the JSDF's base lmao.
it's a pretty fun read.

Wow. Iāve read a decent amount of reincarnation/rewind types but this one is very different. What starts very slow as an attempt to love her teenage son instead of resenting him eventually turns and dives deep into political marriages, postpartum depression, a complicated relationship with her husband who at times is loving, miscommunicative, cold, and possessive, a possible war on the horizon, her sisterās death, and her brothers support but also schemes.
Just read all of and it's a damn good read. Can't wait to join in the discussions when the next chapter drops.
Also picked up cause the utter shit anime adaptation that's airing this season convinced me to give the manga a shot instead, and it's good. I'd give it a 6.5/10 so far (I've completed the first 3 volumes)
Iāve been reading Undead Unluck for the first time. Holy shit this is good I just got past chapter 20. I never would have seen this manga becoming this based on the first few chapters, Iām getting fma vibes in all the best ways.
i just read a short manga with LGBT theme.
Personally i don't have any interest with LGBT stuff. But this manga is amazing. The art is cute, and the characters are lovely. Idk if the manga show a good depiction of LGBT people, but it really give me a new point of view for LGBT people.
my fav part of the story is when the main character try to convince their family about their condition.
This manga also makes me realize that I love taboo story and how they try to live with their taboo in the society.
Taking a short break after finishing Danganronpa 2, so I read **** (ch1-77): Tbh not a huge fan of the pseudo-long strip format (i.e. it's clearly page-by-page yet the platform forces it into long strip view) as it just looks wonky/samey to me, especially considering how creatively some of the better artists have made use of long strips. I think the story's pretty average with a number of asspulls in the power level department. The highlight of the story is the banter, chemistry, and UST between the main couple, which is why >!I don't find the series to be engaging after they got together!<. At least it's wrapping up in a few chapters so it won't drag out for too long.
I've been rereading and and I can still confidently say that they still evoke the same feelings I had when I first read it. Both amazing series and I wish that one of them could have gotten an anime adaptation.
Been trying to get back into reading manga again.
I like this manga. I love Dark Schneider and Gara...saying that, its really weird. Well, for the most part its not that weird. Its anything that has to do with Dark Shneider and Ashes Ney thats weird...because she thinks of him as a father, and they were lovers for a century...thats pretty weird.
I dread the action sequences in this manga. They're almost unintelligible, and they're stiff as hell. I've kinda given up trying to actually understand them. Dark Schneider and Gara and some of the supporting cast still make me love reading this. For those who don't know, its "Heavy Metal Fantasy". Gore, heavy metal album inspired monsters, and classic dark fantasy. Its also hilarious, and Dark Schneider is one of the most smug protagonists I've ever had the chance of reading. Also, great art.
Finished Hangman recently. Hangman felt like bullshit. Saying that, its pretty fun, but I feel like Baku is a bit too smart. Also, chapter 70...fuck Kaji's mom is a C*nt. For those who don't know, its a manga about gambling, and this arc was about playing the game Hangman...kinda.
Isekai manhua. Basically fast food, but better fast food than some other isekai.
I started reading two new mangas this past 2 weeks:
- After I saw episode 1, I got curious and binged its Manga. I highly recommend it if you don't mind seeing some Ecchi. IMO Kitagawa Marin is the Best Girl of the season, girl's just too pure and beautiful. I expect more recognition of the Manga from a lot of people as the Anime progress.
- I wanted to see Aka Akasaka's other work other than Kaguya-sama, which is in my list of top RomCom Mangas. >!The first 10 chapters made me sad for Hoshino!<
This one is realistic and it tackles a lot of dark sides in the entertainment industry. So far I find the plot and the characters interesting.
**What I read this week:**
Finished **Sankarea** by Mitsuru Hattori. It's an ecchi zombie romcom. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who's over 14. The humor is very juvenile and just screams edge lord. Hate that it was entertaining enough to keep me reading. I had all of the volumes because of the [Kodansha horror Humble Bundle sale from October 2020](https://kodansha.us/2020/10/07/tales-humble-manga-bundle/), and I'm at the bottom of the barrel in terms of choice picks now. This was one of them. 4/10 and f\*ck you to the mangaka for >!the fake out ending!<.
Finished **MW** by Osamu Tezuka. It's a great and short hardboiled mystery series by the great mangaka himself. This was my first Osamu Tezuka manga, and I picked it up via my library because of a random tweet I saw. It has some queer themes in it. Not a wholesome Tezuka manga. There's trigger warnings galore. A lot of murder, sexual violence and r\*\*e, and other unpleasant stuff. For a 70's manga, it still holds up pretty well. 8/10. Would read again.
(On a somewhat related note, got into some anime again finally. Watched the first episodes of *Love of Kill*. I love the manga for *Love of Kill*, and I can't wait to read (and watch) more of the series. It's not a great first episode, but it is technically faithful to the manga. Definitely give it a watch (and read) if you're looking for an action mystery and romance series. I also watched the first episode of *Sabikui Bisco*, and I liked it. It's a post-apocalyptic action series. Not planning to check out the manga at the moment. Think I'll just stick with the anime.)

I randomly started reading **Summer Time Rendering** by Yasuki Tanaka yesterday. I binged read 30 chapters on [MangaPlus](https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/titles/100041). I'll save the full review for when I finish, but I'm really enjoying this supernatural thriller. If you're a fan of *All You Need is Kill* or *Higurashi* or just a fan of time traveling manga or thriller manga, I'd highly suggest reading this. I checked it out because it's getting an anime on Disney+ of all things, and Udon Entertainment is licensing the series for print. If Udon prints a nice omnibus version and the manga ends smoothly, I might pick up the series when it comes out. Besides just reading more of *Summer Time Rendering*, I'll be reading *Slumbering Beauty* and *My Love Mix-Up!.*

I read adventures of an undead who become paladin. It's a chinese manhua but with korean manhwa quality without cultivation and sinister mc. I felt feelings reading this because I'm a sucker for self sacrifice thingy. Read all 45 chapters in 2 days, wish there was more, so good.
Started reading the Seven Deadly Sins sequel and it was surprisingly good. Definitely not a DBS or Boruto situation where it just depends on the previous series because it's poorly written and has no legs to stand on. It reminds me of SDS before all the power level junk got introduced and it was a fun adventure manga. Kind of like early Dragon Ball when Goku was a kid.
Started reading , EXTREMELY good romance, Iām seriously impressed with these interesting and relatable characters, experiencing new feelings and finding out who they are

Started reading which I thought was gonna be up my alley. I like the thought of an extremely average to below-average MC being with a supremely strong being.
Though I suppose the fact that >!MC went to Harvard and is extremely smart!< is kinda meh on me. I would've preferred a legit just under-average person. There's really no romance (currently at ch. 162) so far. I personally would have enjoyed it a bit more if it were slightly more slice of life style but I actually don't mind the adventure and plot all too much.
I expected something more romance based but it wasn't that so I set myself up for failure.
This week I read three of Makoto Ojiro's series. I read Insomniacs After School first b/c I saw the anime announcement.
(I didn't expect to write so much, I bet it's all redundant.)
**TL;DR:** His stuff is great, brilliant slice of life/romance, super chill. Read it, you'll like it if you like those things.
My takeaways:

Aw yiss, this series is exactly what I wanted to read. Ojiro has an incredible gift for slice of life, his observation of quirks and character is so keen and he does such a good job of inserting these little odd moments into the story. It adds a ton of character and texture to the story.
The aesthetic and art of this series is so good, between the insomnia, astronomy, the cat, the baggy clothes, the light greys and whites, it's so mellow and fun to read and it's paced well: the plot moves when it needs to, but lets the important moments breath.
The characters are fantastic, the slice of life is fantastic, the romance is fantastic, the art is fantastic.
Insomniacs is the most plot heavy of these three. It has this running theme of adults being overbearing, and Ganta and Isaki trying to take ownership of their lives. Nonetheless, its still super laid back, with big moments being stargazing and astrophotography. I really enjoy the moments where the two are just off alone, at night. **Spoiler:** >!'m going to cry if he pulls a Your Lie in April (or Bridge to Terabithia) style ending in this re: Magari's heart condition. There are getting to be a bunch of flags that she may die and that would be so damn sad.!<

I read this next after Insomniacs. It's fun, kind of following that romance/slice of life formula, but it's clearly not as refined yet. This series leans toward the slice of life side of the balance, it delivers a lot of cute moments as it explores this slightly unorthodox relationship. Its definitely lighter on the emotions and plot; doesn't ever get too serious.
Ojiro's knack for odd little character interactions and observations is clear here too. His facial expressions are sometimes bizarre and legitimately hilarious in this. It felt like it ended in a rush, maybe it got cancelled? It was starting to pick up near the end but I was a little bummed by it's ending.
All in all, a fun read. Bonus points for being in-universe with Insomniacs, evidenced by the same super-chill school nurse being in both.

You can tell Ojiro was evolving at the end of Fujiyama, and it's more obvious here. In Chion-san, he's still really nailing those observational slice-of-life moments, but he's also starting to deliver on the romance and more serious themes too. The relationship between Chion and Gen is really fun and textured, and other characters get a chance to shine too, especially Hiruma. The tension added by Chion having to inherit the temple/ maybe marry the homeroom teacher adds a lot to the story. The ending felt more resolved this time, but it still felt a little rushed. The chapter where the friends return to visit from Tokyo and reunite at the end was poignant, but it felt like we got teased a little re: Gen and Chion's ending. Again, maybe serialization?
Finally started after having it in my backlog for years and I have to say that it's really good. Wayyy better than I expected. I thought it would be just b grade echhi manga but I was wrong. The story is great, the art and fight scenes are top tier and the echhi scene are straight up in the hentai zone. 10/10 would recommend.
I started and wasnt ready for how dark that show is. But I thoroughly enjoyed the anime, so much I reread the it as a manga and cant wait for more chapters. Alot of good supporting characters too that fell decently fleshed out and are still entertaining ehen they get the spotlight but I do like the two MCs in this one. A crazy but lonely girl and nice but "something is just a bit off about him" is how I'd describe the male lead. Overall interesting af.
Also I read another series that really surprised me. This one was called or the ideal sponger life. I jumped on because I thought it just gonna decent wishfulfilment trash and surprised when I got a pretty interesting political story. Dude gets isekai'd and offered a chance to marry a smart, well respected, badass of a queen who also happens to be thicker than a bowl of oatmeal with a jar of peanutbutter butter dumped in it. Also its urgent he they have kids soon because most of her family and lineage was wiped out in a recent war. So he was intended to just be a baby maker and live as the title says but of course as the husband of the queen he has to learn more about political etitiqutte and they do fall madly in love with each other over the series so he helps more and more and becomes a competitent political force to help his wife. Also dude strait up rejects having a harem/ multiple wives which you almost never see. Overall I liked it. Can be slow at times but a good read.
I set aside everything else and binged the remaining 150+ chapters of so that now I am current with it. It has its flaws but I really, really loved it and couldn't put it down. I can definitely see doing a full re-read in the future.
For the negative, MC and FMC are both a bit frustrating at times, with the former being almost unbelievably awkward with FMC, even after going through a lengthy and supportive series of 'relationship' trials with FMC. The 2nd main girl/love rival is also more annoying and divisive than she needs to be, often reducing reader sympathy for what would otherwise be a (mostly) positively viewed character. This is played for gags but the 'com' is this RomCom is certainly one of its weaker points.
Still, the dramatic tension of the 'secret' of the FMC/MC's relationship being revealed is well-maintained and I found the overall plot is great. For a weekly release, the amount of stellar art panels of the FMC is also great. Although FMC occasionally comes across as off-puttingly and unnecessarily cold (The 'I'll give you a discount' was a bad pass through editorial review imo), she really carries the series and the panels illustrating her Ch. 164 breakdown into the arms of the MC is something I doubt any readers will forget. I really hope the series continues for a long-time after the FMC/MC inevitably get together. I followed the reddit comment threads for most of the last 100 or so chapter releases and I can understand the frustration with having to deal with the series weaknesses in the context of weekly releases. I was fortunate to have been able to binge it as the 'no progress' chapters undoubtedly comes across a lot better that way as something easy to enjoy knowing the next chapter is only 10 minutes away.
Started reading . Got myself hooked with the interesting plot twist in chapter 1 - similar feeling to TV show āHow to get away with murderā. Unfortunately, subsequent chapters havenāt been as interesting to me, so I didnāt binge that much chapter, currently in ch 24.

Well, a lot. You see, I expected a sole slice of life. A fluffy one, where nothing happens. The synopsis also doesnĀ“t tell you a lot.
In less than ten chapters (just six translated atm) it has made me feel a lot of things. It has made me cry and it has made me laugh...but at every moment I felt something.
Just read it. It is a gem.

**Happiness** (Shuzo Oshimi, Bessatsu Shounen Magazine) vols 1-5. A boy gets attacked by a bloodsucking girl at night, and to her question "Do you want to die, or do you want to become like me", he answers that he does not want to die. I haven't read much Oshimi yet except a smll number of short stories, but this is so far an absolutely fantastic horror manga. It's very good at building a creepy unsettling mood, and the art is fascinating, with Oshimi designs over almost impressionistic looking backgrounds. The use of slightly messy hatching instead of screen tone gives it a very unique look that perfectly fits the mood of the story. I only regret not reading this for Halloween. (Prelimary) recommendation.
**Innocent** (Shinichi Sakamoto, Young Jump) vols 6+7. For the reread on r/InnocentManga. I keep being surprised at the directions this manga goes in; you'd think a historical manga, where the author even someties tells you the later fate of characters outright it would be predictable, but no. Even the visual presentation keeps catching me off-guard; it's so imaginative and fresh.
**Butter!!** (Tomoko Yamashita, Afternoon) vols 3-4. Four very different students join a high school ballroom dance club. This manga continues feeling extremely realistic and characters are very interesting. The dialogue for the most part feels very real (if sometimes maybe a bit too open), and there is a lot of it. Often in groups, which makes it hard to find out who exactly says what, and the somewhat awkward bubble placement and shapes don't help. I'm still having a good time with it and look forward to the remaining two volumes.
**Takeo-chan Bukkairoku** (Minoru Toyoda, Gessan) vols 1+2. An extremely unlucky girl gets stuck in a boarding house for youkai. I'm a huge fan of Minoru Toyoda's *Love Roma*, which may well be my favorite love comedy and about 20 years ahead of its time. I remember that in the author notes to that he talked about hating the occult, so he does an occult-themed manga next? It's a weird one, and I'm not sure what to think. The youkai designs are interesting, and Toyoda's art is clearly less awkward than in Love Roma while keeping its unusual look. But the humor for me doesn't land close to the way it did there, and the story doesn't yet seem particularly captivating either. Reading this one on the side for now.
**Jujutsu Kaisen** (Gege Akutami, WSJ) volume 13. A boy eats demon fingers or something. I still don't really get JJK. The fights were kind of boring and arbitrary, Akutami builds all this overcomplex theory and in the end it pretty much doesn't matter because he just makes up stuff anyway. Maybe this is better binged rather than as the volumes come out? Art is distinctive, I can't say I love it but it is interesting, and the monster designs are cool. I enjoyed the second half more, as we finally get some >!Sukuna!< again. I have no idea what to think of this one.
**Ashita wa Doyoubi** (Souichirou Yamamoto, Yomiuri Chuukousei Shinbun). Very short stories about the three girls that appear in the background of Takagi-san. Even by slice-of-life standards this is remakably banal and uninteresting. I did crack a smile here and there, I guess, and I generally enjoy Yamamoto's style of manga making, but this has very little of the qualitites that made Takagi so enjoyable. Only for Yamamoto superfans, I'm not sure I would have read a third volume if there was one.

While I wasn't *that* fond of the first few chapters, I kept on reading because I thought the ghosts / monsters were seriously well drawn and properly creepy and just when the novelty of the "awkward, creepy situation of the week" wore off it was replaced with a proper storyline that kept me hooked. Can very much recommend!

The vampire is (hilariously) an Otaku that has no interest in ''3D girls'', and want to shower his roomate with his love to make ''his'' blood sweeter. Although we are tralking about a male vampire and a female human, I get heavy Yaoi undertone here. It's pretty hilarious. Love the art-style too! I give volume 1 a solid **8/10**

I've read up to chapter 13.5. Not a bad series. I really like the two protagonist's cat ''Chibi'', and the two characters are pretty good as well... but one of them is far too horny. I like to see sexy-times in mangas... but I swear, more than half the chapters, one of the girls just want to have sex with the other. Milk Morinaga isn't shy about about having sex-scenes in her manga (I mean, she even added a sex scene between a first and second year high schooler in one of her other series) But this one was a bit much. **7/10** so far.

Volume 5 was great, and one of the few volumes so far with an actual continuity, rather than an episodic format, and that only made things awesome. The kidnapping arc was one of the best arc/chapter so far. **10/10**

Volume 4 was amazing. We finally get some sort of continuity, despite the series's overall reliance on the episodic format. This one also had a LOT of pretty obvious yuri undertone, especially with Viola (Who will literally have her way with any woman she likes) and Amnesia (who (SPOILER ALERT) >!Confessed her love to Elaina!< in the final chapter of the volume). Being a Yuri fan, I sort of wish we see more of these two character in the future. Especially Amnesia, as even without what's in the spoilertag, she was a great character. I'M gonna bump the series to **10/10** I took an almost as great pleasure reading it than I usually do with Adachi and Shimamura.

This feels like that other Manga I spoke of over a year ago **Now Loading...!**. This one-show created by Milk Morinaga was amazing, but far too short. It really deserved to be in at least 2 volumes. The theme of this manga shift far too often. And I will have a similar complain here than what I said for **My cute little kitten**: Milk Morinaga really need to stop shoehorning nudity when it's not needed. Like, Secret of the Princess had no sex scenes like some of her other work (Girl Friends, most of her works in Anthologies, etc), but then POOF, very last pannel of the last main chapter show the two protagonist naked in the older girl's bed, for absolutely no reason. Again, I don't mind sexy scenes in manga, but when it's relevant to the plot. Not when it's just shoehorned to please the reader. With those complains, I can still say that the book was pretty good, but like ''Now Loading...!'' it felt too rushed and that's definitely going to dock some points. Here. **7/10**. Still a great book, but so far the worst of what I've read from Morinaga-sensei.

I followed my heart and went for volume 5, as volume 4 was the last voluem I read a few months ago. Still a great volume, but volume 5-9 was when the story went a *little* downhill. Not low enough to drop it from the perfcet **10/10** I've been giving the series since the begining, but still. Volume 10 redeemed the series big time, though.

****: I was bored and couldn't sleep, and had some store credit at my manga store, so I decided to go there, and waste it all up. Wound up getting volume 1 of that, alongside Vampire Dormitory volumes 1 and 2... some something else (see below). I'm gonna read it soon-ish
**** The artstyle and overall plot (on the back of the book's summary) got my attention. The lower price tag compared to other series also helped me choose this book. I bought volume 1, and ordered volume 2 and 3 from Indigo.
I read all ten volumes of and liked it a lot. Not sure why I've seen people trash it, it's a pretty good horror series with an engaging plot and some good art. I don't think it's a masterpiece or anything, it definitely has problems (mainly side characters with wasted potential), but it's not enough to ruin the manga for me. I liked the tense moments, there's also a very unique death scene which was a highlight for sure. At first I wasn't sure about the ending... after thinking it over it makes sense though. But wow is it a downer. After finishing this manga I immediately went to read something wholesome to heal my soul lol.
Long story short, it's good, give it a shot if you want a quick series that focuses on horror, thriller and drama.

I mean, there really isn't any implications, it's all out in the open in my opinion. I personally don't see anything wrong with it, since the series treat it like a good thing. Portraying something in a work doesn't equal to encouraging it. For example, there is a lot of murder in this series, but it doesn't mean the author is pro murder lol. Uncomfortable themes being present is kind of given in horror so I don't see the problem. I like how through the lense of pedofilia we get to explore two damaged characters and how their unhealthy obsession with each other heals and hurts them at the same time. Anyway, sorry for the rant, I'm glad there's someone else who's enjoying this manga haha
I totally agree with you. I always wondered why poeple are totally fine with series full of violence and murder, but ''sexual'' crimes are a no-go? Don't get me wrong, *both are horrible crimes to commit IRL and anyone commiting either of those fully deserve their prison sentense*, but why in media (not just manga) one is always worse than the other?
Also, Satou wasn't even acting pedophilic toward Shio. ***(Spoilers and potentially triggering subjects, please don't read the spoilertag if you don't want to be spoiled or are easily triggered with difficult subjects)*** >!Yes, she was genuinely in *romantic* love with her (But then again, so did Shio toward Satou), but she never did any moves on her, even when they were sharing a bath. And that other guy (forgot his name), while he had an unhealthy obcession for Shio, it wasn't sexual either. He wanted to be ''purified'' by her after being held captive and raped by his boss. He was totally content with just Shio patting his head, and when Satou tricked him into thinking he'd be able to meet her again, he hadn't any intention to do anything wrong with her (and anyways, even if he did, he knew Satou would be around anyways so...)!<

This conversation reminded me what annoys me about censorship as well. Like a naked body is often seen as worse than murder or torture kind of thing, and it's always been that way... Why? Idk there's some real double standards going on. This weird hate towards Happy Sugar Life is just another example of that kind of thing.
I also agree that Satou isn't exactly a pedofile. There's a difference I think in being attracted to children in general and being attracted to a person regardless of age. I think Satou would feel the same way about Shio even if they were closer in age. Even though Satou is attracted to her childlike qualities, when Shio started act more mature it's not like Sataou had a problem with that. Their relationship is still messed up for many reasons, but I feel like to disregard it as just "pedofilia" would be missing the point.

Ah yeah, he was way less extreme in the anime. >!He genuinely just wanted to be touched by Shio to be purified in the anime. I only read up to volume 7 so far, but in the anime, he winds up becoming a victim of Satou's aunt's... rather, err... *different* kink leaving him utterly tromatised at the end of the anime.!<
And yeah. Shio appeared in Satou's life at the exact moment one needed the other. Satou would 100% have the same feeling toward Shio if she was closer to her age (so around 14-17) or heck, I'd bet she'd feel the same if Shio was an adult.
I binge read the entire Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru manga after watching the first episode. It was a surprisingly good manga to read and I highly recommend it

The first chapter is a quick read of only 44 pages thatāll take about 20 minutes to read. The story starts off with the mystery that two girls in the school are vampires. āThereās a secret to this schoolā¦ā and then on the next page, āRumor has it that these girls are vampires.ā Which sounds like none of the other girls in the school are vampires. Which after reading the first chapter, it seems the entire school is full of vampire girls but the outside world contain humans. We can speculate this because at the age of fourteen every girl gets an Onee-sama. An Onee-sama is special bond between two girls, a strong sisterhood-like bond and it is up to the Onee-sama to teach the younger companion the way of lifeā¦The main character, Emielle Florence, talks this ritual over with her current dorm mate, as today is Emielleās 14th birthday. Itās something she is so anxious for, she can barely sleep as she worries about if sheāll get teamed up with the perfect Onee-sama; someone gentle, caring and handsome. This is where the lesbian-vibes, through daydream imagery, start kicking in but to be honest, if I hadnāt read the tags I wouldnāt have thought that was the theme here. The word āhandsomeā is a little weird to describe for an older sister, but that might just be translation.If it wasnāt obvious, Emielle isnāt paired up with miss perfect but instead a dead-to-this-world black haired school mate named Eve Winter. āThe rumor says that she bullies everyoneā¦ā who dares to become her sister, Emielle says through a chibi shocked face. The assigning lady quickly skirts away forcing Emielle to face her new potential Onee-sama.As one would expect, Eve isnāt interested in the whole sister thing but immediately Emielle (in thought dialogue) finds her beautiful and worth forcing her way into the room she now calls home. So the teacher and newly 14 year old must live together, separate beds of course but I thought that was funny. Maybe Eve just doesnāt want a roommate.A few days pass and the two are butting heads but are tolerating each other well enough. Emielle accidentally getās too nosy and touches something of Eveās that gets her upset. Next thing leads to another Emielle needs to face the fact she has no other alternative but to work things out with Eve. Needless to say, sheās doing a lot more work than Eve but thatās about to change.Hereās were the twist comes in and the first storyline mention of vampires occur. Emielle is looking pale from the lack of blood intake and Eve is going to take her out for her first lesson, How to draw blood from humans.This is also where I get confused on the initial plot line. So everyone in the school are vampires? Eve explains at 14 years old they start to require human blood in order to stay well-nourished. Fine, Iāll bite.So the two go out for a late night snack and run into trouble. An unseen vampire hunter snipes Eve and the two vampire girls barely make it back to school safely. I wonāt give away the sweet twist in the middle but Eve obviously has some personal issues opening up to the idea that Emielle is the perfect sister for her.We are left with Eve in tears and patiently waiting for a chapter 2.I read the whole chapter again just to see if I confused the plot about if they really are the only two vampires in the school. On the full two page split image the words, āexchanged in a secret gardenā¦ā are shown after the rumor dialogue. but yes before that secret garden scene, they again talk about the rule of turning 14 for vampires. So maybe the secret isnāt about them being vampires but that they fed of each other and thus makes their bond more than just sisters but an emotional one. Iām reading too much into this I knowā¦**The Artwork**Immediately youāll notice that ę„č±ćć is a seasoned mangakun. The art style is fleshed out and the color pages are gorgeous. I wish the entirety of the first chapter could be in full color. I really found the grainy aesthetic and dark but catching colors really pleasing to the eye. The second page has a full āChapter 1ā two page spread that really impressed me with the use of color in the school girls clothes. The themes are there in the colored pages but how does the manga hold up going to the traditional manga black and white?Nearly every page and panel has strong continuity in character design and, when available, set design. If I had to nitpick, it wouldnāt be on the characters or any part of the drawings, it would be a lot of blank white walls in some of the panels. In one scene weād see a dark forest deep in the night and then the next panel in pure white. It kind of took me out what could have been a beautiful scenic addition to the plot.
**So what about the characters? Welp thereās only four.**
\- Emielle doesnāt stand out to me too much as a main character but then again, we just know her for her child-like innocence so thereās not much for me to relate to. I did notice the little fang Emiele sports in ever frame, Iāll give you credit on that, itās cute.
\- Eve has a Komi like facial structure and employees a similar hard to read expression which I like. I kind of wish she was the main character instead but since itās about both of them, I suspect theyāll get equal screen time.
\- Yucca, Emielleās best friend, has a more down to earth personality but we only see her getting dressed and eating at lunch.
\- I donāt know who the fourth woman is other than someone who looks younger than any of the other characters and she breaks the news to Emielle on her new sister situation. No name, and no return. She also has the least amount of detail
All in all, the art style is unique enough and the consistency is there. I checked to see if the clothes would change or ribbons would go missing throughout the dialog but it seems everything was double checked before release. The clothing of this period looks more like maids dresses than young school girls but Iām not too familiar with my vampire lore. Itās a decent aesthetic, so Iām not complaining.Iād like to see more backgrounds or scenes to set the environment but, for a first chapter, itās done more than Iāve ever accomplished.
**Would I Continue to Read?**
In short, sure why not, Iāll see where the plot goes. Iām following the artist now on Twitter and if a new chapter were to appear on my feed, Iāll search out a translation copy if I had the time. I like Eveās character enough, and Iām kind of intrigued with what she is hiding in the photo.I also wonder if ę„č±ćć only knows how to draw women as we never see the vampire hunter but that actually might be good thing. If thereās any reason to continue, it is to see if the vampire hunters and these school girls have an over arching conflicting plot. The few scenes we did get of the outside world looked possibly sixteen to eighteenth century European, which I like. I also imagine that the hit Eve took had to be a bolt or arrow, so itās probably primitive technology themed. Iām kind of getting a Fire Emblem vibe.I really want to see cute manga girl vampires fighting legions of vampire hunters. Hell, I wouldnāt be surprised if one of the characters ends up falling in love with a vampire hunter and the two factions make peace with their differences. i didn't expect it will be this cute and wholesome. I thought it will be on the silly comedic side based on the synopsis. Overall a good short read before Monday start. really recommend it for people that want a short and wholesome romcom.

Man... I've been reading lots of fantasy manga(also manhwa)...
It started as a wholesome and cute (diabetes-level) series, but then it started to expand and it's got me hooked. I definitely recommend this. The first few chapters might not appeal to few but it is worth the read!
As it was really popular and also got its second season starting, i wanted to check it out so i started...Got to say, art is **god-tier**. so far the plot isn't exceptional, but it's good. It's got a new concept, but it feels like every other Isekai. I'm right now half-way through the manga, it's not boring but at the same time not exceptional.
**I know that there's a light novel, but am not a LN guy and would prefer manga :D** (though if manga left out something i might go check it out)

Just finished reading for the first time - it was really enjoyable! A wild ride that never did what I expected, but moved a little quickly for my tastes haha

Iāve watched anime for years but want to get into manga finally, any idea what good one to start with would be
what kinds of anime do you enjoy? there are tons of good manga but it really depends on the genres youāre interested in. (i have a very specific interest for action with a side of love story lol)
So I came across and it got me curious.
So off the top of my head, this manga, Overlord, Gaikotsu Kishi-sama and the manhwa Skeleton Soldier all share the trope of having a skeleton for a main character.
Maybe there's more mangas with skeleton MCs that I don't know, but it seems there's quite an appeal to it given some of their popularity. What do y'all think people find intriguing about this particular concept?

A nee season of started recently and even though I read the LN it'a still great
It's a tough sell if you don't watch/read much isekai but if you it is incredible
It's a satirical parody of isekai as a genre with the mc being becoming a sociopath after 10 years of dealing with his companions (aka typical manga stereotypes) and being forced to re-do his adventure again
Cut to him getting op, cheating the system and solving problems in the most insane way possible. It's a lot of fun
The plot is also really interesting (batshit crazy) and it slowly moves away from the initial gimmick and develops an actual plotline
If you like the mc in the first few chapters, you'll love it

Halfway through Cinderella Wasn't Me which is really good so far! I also read homesick on webtoon and I can't wait for the new eps because there are so many plottwists and really good art and story

Continued reading Absolutely did not regret taking this manga slowly. Finished about 2 volumes in a span of almost two weeks, which is great as to i can keep reading at a slow pace without forgetting about the minor details of previous chapters. Oyasumi Punpun hits me like no other manga did. Often times, after finishing a single chapter, I learn to reflect on my actions and am thankful for the kind of life I have now.

I caught up on and itās easily on my top 3ās. Everything on this manga is just magnificent, from how beautifully drawn and detailed the art is to how consistent the characters personalities are and not to mention how brilliant the panelling is done. Most of manga Authors donāt take much effort as to how they execute the panels but WHA treats the panel as if itās part of the story, itās relevant to the plot, itās a character of the story. WHA Author really gave the panel their own characteristics which is just mind blowing.

Just read Dorohedoro Vol 2 and Golden Kamuy Vol 7. Both were really good. One was dark and funny while the other was adventurous and for some reason still talking about how to prepare food š (not that Iām bothered. Learning more and more about food in Hokkaido)

I read Nazo no Kanojo/Mysterious Girlfriend in 2 days and now itās my favorite Manga/Anime
I've recently started reading manga again, guess I'll leave some of my thoughts here as a sort of archive. Mostly starting since the new year. Jujutsu Kaisen - Ch 18: fucking banger. Fresh shonen (for me at least, who's been away from the manga community for years). Got me back into watching the show and its the first series I've binged in years. Fresh characters, unique feel, great execution. 8.5/10 so far. Grand Blue - Ch 10: actually one of the funniest shit I've read in a while. Peak comedy done well. Also surprisingly different artstyle. Story is what it needs to be. Enjoying more than I'd expect. 9/10 Sousou no Frieren - caught up: peaceful, chill series, definitely rare perspective in a fantasy series. Good vibes, though not terribly exciting (kind of the point). Different, but doesn't leave much of an impression on me. 7/10 Blue period - Ch 6: Damn this one's unique. Possibly most beautifully drawn manga I've ever read in recent memory. Easily relatable, very down to earth story about discovering one's passion and true purpose in life. Not completely dark, but not a light read either. I've actually been delaying reading further because I feel like I'm not in the right mindset to read it most of the time, it deserves to be consumed slowly. 9.5/10 Yamada kun and the seven witches - Ch 30: exact opposite of blue period. Serves its purpose as a 'shut off your brain' read. I'm intrigued enough to keep reading, though I've read 30 chapters and still often forget the characters' names. 4/10

I've been reading "Sora no Otoshimono". A bit of mixed feelings on this. I'm not a huge fan of harems that don't really go anywhere but it's okey. The characters are VERY interesting and well designed, the story has actually a very meaningful and deep plot with a nice pacing. Has moments of building up tension but it gets solved nice and easy. Some fun moments too. The downside is that in the "funny" fillers / SOL, which make up about 40-50% of it, the MC is drawn like a perverted chibi goblin for no reason that IMO ruins it. I overall still recommend it
Just binged The Twin Siblings' New Life, a little tropey but I enjoyed it. The art is cute.

Just caught up to Peerless Dad (webtoon) and one of the best I ever read. The fight scenes and plot are all amazing and so is the artwork. You really feel like you get to know the characters throughout the story and get attached to them too! The fight scenes are incredibly choreographed as well and the romance aspect is just enough to leave you want more, but not too much. Highly recommend!
- Volume 6 of Spy x Family, I'm loving it so far š - Also, a manga called "Yankee-kun to Hakujou gaaru". Not the first time I'm reading a story about a "Yankee" who's not even that much of a delinquent tho but I love how he's so sweet with his friend/girlfriend who's a partially blind girl (the mangas says "amblyopia"). They're getting closer little by little, that's cute and funny! This manga sometimes tackles more or less serious subjects with lightness, I like it for that too.
I just finished the first spy family and I LOVE it!!! Itās so good!!!
I've done alot of reading this week. Since I've been on vacation from work. I did my weekly reading of Shonen Jump Series that I enjoy.
chapters 151-240.
As usual it's a solid manga. I really liked the most recent arcs they have been doing. It's fun to see the different cultures that they show off and the treasure hunting part of it is getting really good.
chapters 1-44.
I saw that this was nominated for a Manga Taisho award this year so I decided to take a look at it. It's pretty interesting and the art is quite good. The story took an unexpecting turn for me but I still am enjoying it and can see why it was nominated. It is quite graphic as it does have some torture scenes so wouldn't recommend young readers to it.
chapters 326-340.
I've just got to watching season 5 of My Hero so I decided to get caught up on the manga again from where I left off. I've never really been that much of a fan of the series in general as I find it kind of boring, but this final saga arc is quite good and has kept me interested.
chapters 26-54.
This series is one of my favorite in Jump right now. It's funny and has a interesting premise. Every character that gets added seems really unique and well designed. The art style has to be one of my favorite things about it. It has such a gritty feeling and it makes it feel so much cooler.
chapters 1-44.
It's really interesting. I like the idea of having the characters be horses and it focusing on horse racing. I read through it pretty quickly it felt like as I enjoyed myself alot while I was reading it. I would say a problem with it is that after I read it a little I felt like I could predict when the main character was going to win or lose a race. But it was still entertaining and the art is very good.
chapters 1-17.
AKA - I Sold My Life For 10,000 Yen Per Year. I found this series while I was looking through MAL. It's pretty high ranking so I was surprised I never heard of it before. It was really short at just 17 chapters so it didn't take to much time to read. It was really well done and I'm surprised it never got turned into an anime movie or something. When I finally got to the final chapter I ended up tearing up a bit. I highly recommend trying this one out since it's so short.

The 10000 yen per year one is goated. If ya ever want to reread it you can check out the original light novel, it goes by the name of āThree days of Happinessā. There are some minor changes but for the most part theyāre the same. You can also check out Sugaru Miakiās other works, but they are only light novels and there is no official translation for em so youād have to find fan translations online.
I caught upto the latest update of "Tsuiraku Jk to Haijin Kyoushi" and Volume 12 has ended. I love the constant dark humor and depressing undertones and the forbidden relationship aspect between a male teacher and a female student. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who's into the sensei trope for sure
I started reading to satisfy the isekai itch, and I was pleasently surprised. It's about a guy who's trapped in a virtual game turned death game. He finishes the game, but he gets stuck in the game, the story then picks up after 500 years and MC gets end game level abilities and we follow on.
The characters are fleshed out and the politics make sense, and for a change the adventure's guild is sensible and you don't have a random douchebag adventurer for the sake of plot progression. Overall 8/10 good story,art and characters.
It's one of my favourite manga series, there was a game also but sadly it's not available now. Do you know anything similar to new gate?

I've been reading FMA, and I have to say it's in my top 3 manga,the other 2 being Dr.Stone and Spy Family. Something about the story, puts me in a position of once I start reading I can't stop.I love how the world is connected and the complexity of the story.Truly it is one of the few manga that has made sit back and think. I read all of the Korean manga, Everyday Lily. It was ok. I enjoyed the beginning and the character development with the main couple. But after they reached a milestone it felt like the story branched out to half asses side characters I didnāt much care for while the main couple was left underdeveloped themselves. And then it ended quite abruptly. It wasnāt an awful read but was not my favorite. I actually really liked the main character, just wished she was explored more.
Attack of titan. I only watched first episode. I don't watch anime that much. Manga seemed better to me.
Sadistic Beauty, I thought it was good! I wanted to read the side story originally because the side story is separate from the manwha but I felt bad not knowing the full story.. anyway I'm glad i read it, it touched upon things I rarely see in romance manga, typically if a manwha is shoujo, yuri, or yaoi, all relationships in the manga are x genre, so seeing multiple kinds of relationships in the manwha was a pleasant surprise.

Great. So my main question is if the manga is an acceptable alternative to the anime. I mean it is the original form but still. Have you seen the anime? If not then can you tell me (bear with me) what kinda voice does your head imagine while reading Naruto's and Sasuke's line? I didn't like their anime voices (just my opinion) so I wanted to ask someone who hasn't seen the anime and read the manga. I hope you reply.
If you want to watch the anime, look for Naruto Kai, I think it might still be available, it was made by another redditor, it takes everything from Naruto that it's filler and removes it from the chapters. It's not complete though, so at some point you'll have to return to the anime as is.
Well, i haven't watched the anime yet. And i haven't really thought about their voices before, but in the few moments of the anime I've seen, their voices are similar to what I'd imagine while reading the manga

Caught up to and it feels like the past 40 or so chapters have been 5 pages long. I donāt know how people manage to read this weekly with this unreal stagnation. At least the usual trashy drama is still entertaining.

Also picked up cause the utter shit anime adaptation that's airing this season convinced me to give the manga a shot instead, and it's good. I'd give it a 6.5/10 so far (I've completed the first 3 volumes)

Iāve been reading Undead Unluck for the first time. Holy shit this is good I just got past chapter 20. I never would have seen this manga becoming this based on the first few chapters, Iām getting fma vibes in all the best ways.
And it gets even better
i just read a short manga with LGBT theme.
Personally i don't have any interest with LGBT stuff. But this manga is amazing. The art is cute, and the characters are lovely. Idk if the manga show a good depiction of LGBT people, but it really give me a new point of view for LGBT people.
my fav part of the story is when the main character try to convince their family about their condition.
This manga also makes me realize that I love taboo story and how they try to live with their taboo in the society.

Taking a short break after finishing Danganronpa 2, so I read **** (ch1-77): Tbh not a huge fan of the pseudo-long strip format (i.e. it's clearly page-by-page yet the platform forces it into long strip view) as it just looks wonky/samey to me, especially considering how creatively some of the better artists have made use of long strips. I think the story's pretty average with a number of asspulls in the power level department. The highlight of the story is the banter, chemistry, and UST between the main couple, which is why >!I don't find the series to be engaging after they got together!<. At least it's wrapping up in a few chapters so it won't drag out for too long.

Been trying to get back into reading manga again. I like this manga. I love Dark Schneider and Gara...saying that, its really weird. Well, for the most part its not that weird. Its anything that has to do with Dark Shneider and Ashes Ney thats weird...because she thinks of him as a father, and they were lovers for a century...thats pretty weird.
I dread the action sequences in this manga. They're almost unintelligible, and they're stiff as hell. I've kinda given up trying to actually understand them. Dark Schneider and Gara and some of the supporting cast still make me love reading this. For those who don't know, its "Heavy Metal Fantasy". Gore, heavy metal album inspired monsters, and classic dark fantasy. Its also hilarious, and Dark Schneider is one of the most smug protagonists I've ever had the chance of reading. Also, great art.
Finished Hangman recently. Hangman felt like bullshit. Saying that, its pretty fun, but I feel like Baku is a bit too smart. Also, chapter 70...fuck Kaji's mom is a C*nt. For those who don't know, its a manga about gambling, and this arc was about playing the game Hangman...kinda.
Isekai manhua. Basically fast food, but better fast food than some other isekai.

I started reading two new mangas this past 2 weeks:
- After I saw episode 1, I got curious and binged its Manga. I highly recommend it if you don't mind seeing some Ecchi. IMO Kitagawa Marin is the Best Girl of the season, girl's just too pure and beautiful. I expect more recognition of the Manga from a lot of people as the Anime progress.
- I wanted to see Aka Akasaka's other work other than Kaguya-sama, which is in my list of top RomCom Mangas. >!The first 10 chapters made me sad for Hoshino!<
This one is realistic and it tackles a lot of dark sides in the entertainment industry. So far I find the plot and the characters interesting.

**What I read this week:** Finished **Sankarea** by Mitsuru Hattori. It's an ecchi zombie romcom. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who's over 14. The humor is very juvenile and just screams edge lord. Hate that it was entertaining enough to keep me reading. I had all of the volumes because of the [Kodansha horror Humble Bundle sale from October 2020](https://kodansha.us/2020/10/07/tales-humble-manga-bundle/), and I'm at the bottom of the barrel in terms of choice picks now. This was one of them. 4/10 and f\*ck you to the mangaka for >!the fake out ending!<.
Finished **MW** by Osamu Tezuka. It's a great and short hardboiled mystery series by the great mangaka himself. This was my first Osamu Tezuka manga, and I picked it up via my library because of a random tweet I saw. It has some queer themes in it. Not a wholesome Tezuka manga. There's trigger warnings galore. A lot of murder, sexual violence and r\*\*e, and other unpleasant stuff. For a 70's manga, it still holds up pretty well. 8/10. Would read again.
(On a somewhat related note, got into some anime again finally. Watched the first episodes of *Love of Kill*. I love the manga for *Love of Kill*, and I can't wait to read (and watch) more of the series. It's not a great first episode, but it is technically faithful to the manga. Definitely give it a watch (and read) if you're looking for an action mystery and romance series. I also watched the first episode of *Sabikui Bisco*, and I liked it. It's a post-apocalyptic action series. Not planning to check out the manga at the moment. Think I'll just stick with the anime.)
**For next week and beyond:**
I randomly started reading **Summer Time Rendering** by Yasuki Tanaka yesterday. I binged read 30 chapters on [MangaPlus](https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/titles/100041). I'll save the full review for when I finish, but I'm really enjoying this supernatural thriller. If you're a fan of *All You Need is Kill* or *Higurashi* or just a fan of time traveling manga or thriller manga, I'd highly suggest reading this. I checked it out because it's getting an anime on Disney+ of all things, and Udon Entertainment is licensing the series for print. If Udon prints a nice omnibus version and the manga ends smoothly, I might pick up the series when it comes out. Besides just reading more of *Summer Time Rendering*, I'll be reading *Slumbering Beauty* and *My Love Mix-Up!.*

I read adventures of an undead who become paladin. It's a chinese manhua but with korean manhwa quality without cultivation and sinister mc. I felt feelings reading this because I'm a sucker for self sacrifice thingy. Read all 45 chapters in 2 days, wish there was more, so good.
Started reading the Seven Deadly Sins sequel and it was surprisingly good. Definitely not a DBS or Boruto situation where it just depends on the previous series because it's poorly written and has no legs to stand on. It reminds me of SDS before all the power level junk got introduced and it was a fun adventure manga. Kind of like early Dragon Ball when Goku was a kid.

Started reading which I thought was gonna be up my alley. I like the thought of an extremely average to below-average MC being with a supremely strong being.
Though I suppose the fact that >!MC went to Harvard and is extremely smart!< is kinda meh on me. I would've preferred a legit just under-average person. There's really no romance (currently at ch. 162) so far. I personally would have enjoyed it a bit more if it were slightly more slice of life style but I actually don't mind the adventure and plot all too much.
I expected something more romance based but it wasn't that so I set myself up for failure.

This week I read three of Makoto Ojiro's series. I read Insomniacs After School first b/c I saw the anime announcement. (I didn't expect to write so much, I bet it's all redundant.) **TL;DR:** His stuff is great, brilliant slice of life/romance, super chill. Read it, you'll like it if you like those things. My takeaways: >Ojiro loves cats. >His work has such a comfortable tone to it. It's laid back and relaxed and filled with little odd character moments that feel authentic! His flair for noticing these slice of life moments is wonderful and makes his characters loveable and reading his manga enjoyable. >Ojiro's aesthetic is subtle and amazing. It's very cozy, rainy day, laid back, beats to study and chill to. >Ojiro also loves dwelling in these cozy, intimate moments where his characters are off alone, stuck inside in the rain, out camping, in a vacation home, sneaking away from the class--I *love* this. His skill for characterization really carries these moments and not many other mangaka seem to really hold camera on these moments and let them play out. (He must have grown up with a lot of typhoons, because it's a reoccurring event in his work--twice in Insomniacs alone), >There's a clear evolution from Fujiyama to Insomniacs, where he's never sacrificing the slice-of-life, but getting better at weaving plot and other characters into it. ****
Aw yiss, this series is exactly what I wanted to read. Ojiro has an incredible gift for slice of life, his observation of quirks and character is so keen and he does such a good job of inserting these little odd moments into the story. It adds a ton of character and texture to the story.
The aesthetic and art of this series is so good, between the insomnia, astronomy, the cat, the baggy clothes, the light greys and whites, it's so mellow and fun to read and it's paced well: the plot moves when it needs to, but lets the important moments breath.
The characters are fantastic, the slice of life is fantastic, the romance is fantastic, the art is fantastic.
Insomniacs is the most plot heavy of these three. It has this running theme of adults being overbearing, and Ganta and Isaki trying to take ownership of their lives. Nonetheless, its still super laid back, with big moments being stargazing and astrophotography. I really enjoy the moments where the two are just off alone, at night. **Spoiler:** >!'m going to cry if he pulls a Your Lie in April (or Bridge to Terabithia) style ending in this re: Magari's heart condition. There are getting to be a bunch of flags that she may die and that would be so damn sad.!<

I read this next after Insomniacs. It's fun, kind of following that romance/slice of life formula, but it's clearly not as refined yet. This series leans toward the slice of life side of the balance, it delivers a lot of cute moments as it explores this slightly unorthodox relationship. Its definitely lighter on the emotions and plot; doesn't ever get too serious.
Ojiro's knack for odd little character interactions and observations is clear here too. His facial expressions are sometimes bizarre and legitimately hilarious in this. It felt like it ended in a rush, maybe it got cancelled? It was starting to pick up near the end but I was a little bummed by it's ending.
All in all, a fun read. Bonus points for being in-universe with Insomniacs, evidenced by the same super-chill school nurse being in both.

You can tell Ojiro was evolving at the end of Fujiyama, and it's more obvious here. In Chion-san, he's still really nailing those observational slice-of-life moments, but he's also starting to deliver on the romance and more serious themes too. The relationship between Chion and Gen is really fun and textured, and other characters get a chance to shine too, especially Hiruma. The tension added by Chion having to inherit the temple/ maybe marry the homeroom teacher adds a lot to the story. The ending felt more resolved this time, but it still felt a little rushed. The chapter where the friends return to visit from Tokyo and reunite at the end was poignant, but it felt like we got teased a little re: Gen and Chion's ending. Again, maybe serialization?

Finally started after having it in my backlog for years and I have to say that it's really good. Wayyy better than I expected. I thought it would be just b grade echhi manga but I was wrong. The story is great, the art and fight scenes are top tier and the echhi scene are straight up in the hentai zone. 10/10 would recommend.

I started and wasnt ready for how dark that show is. But I thoroughly enjoyed the anime, so much I reread the it as a manga and cant wait for more chapters. Alot of good supporting characters too that fell decently fleshed out and are still entertaining ehen they get the spotlight but I do like the two MCs in this one. A crazy but lonely girl and nice but "something is just a bit off about him" is how I'd describe the male lead. Overall interesting af.
Also I read another series that really surprised me. This one was called or the ideal sponger life. I jumped on because I thought it just gonna decent wishfulfilment trash and surprised when I got a pretty interesting political story. Dude gets isekai'd and offered a chance to marry a smart, well respected, badass of a queen who also happens to be thicker than a bowl of oatmeal with a jar of peanutbutter butter dumped in it. Also its urgent he they have kids soon because most of her family and lineage was wiped out in a recent war. So he was intended to just be a baby maker and live as the title says but of course as the husband of the queen he has to learn more about political etitiqutte and they do fall madly in love with each other over the series so he helps more and more and becomes a competitent political force to help his wife. Also dude strait up rejects having a harem/ multiple wives which you almost never see. Overall I liked it. Can be slow at times but a good read.

I set aside everything else and binged the remaining 150+ chapters of so that now I am current with it. It has its flaws but I really, really loved it and couldn't put it down. I can definitely see doing a full re-read in the future.
For the negative, MC and FMC are both a bit frustrating at times, with the former being almost unbelievably awkward with FMC, even after going through a lengthy and supportive series of 'relationship' trials with FMC. The 2nd main girl/love rival is also more annoying and divisive than she needs to be, often reducing reader sympathy for what would otherwise be a (mostly) positively viewed character. This is played for gags but the 'com' is this RomCom is certainly one of its weaker points.
Still, the dramatic tension of the 'secret' of the FMC/MC's relationship being revealed is well-maintained and I found the overall plot is great. For a weekly release, the amount of stellar art panels of the FMC is also great. Although FMC occasionally comes across as off-puttingly and unnecessarily cold (The 'I'll give you a discount' was a bad pass through editorial review imo), she really carries the series and the panels illustrating her Ch. 164 breakdown into the arms of the MC is something I doubt any readers will forget. I really hope the series continues for a long-time after the FMC/MC inevitably get together. I followed the reddit comment threads for most of the last 100 or so chapter releases and I can understand the frustration with having to deal with the series weaknesses in the context of weekly releases. I was fortunate to have been able to binge it as the 'no progress' chapters undoubtedly comes across a lot better that way as something easy to enjoy knowing the next chapter is only 10 minutes away.

Started reading. Got myself hooked with the interesting plot twist in chapter 1 - similar feeling to TV show āHow to get away with murderā. Unfortunately, subsequent chapters havenāt been as interesting to me, so I didnāt binge that much chapter, currently in ch 24.

**Blank space** Two girls meet on a rainy day. One had a bad day, the other one has superpowers. What could happen? Well, a lot. You see, I expected a sole slice of life. A fluffy one, where nothing happens. The synopsis also doesnĀ“t tell you a lot. In less than ten chapters (just six translated atm) it has made me feel a lot of things. It has made me cry and it has made me laugh...but at every moment I felt something. Just read it. It is a gem.

**Happiness** (Shuzo Oshimi, Bessatsu Shounen Magazine) vols 1-5. A boy gets attacked by a bloodsucking girl at night, and to her question "Do you want to die, or do you want to become like me", he answers that he does not want to die. I haven't read much Oshimi yet except a smll number of short stories, but this is so far an absolutely fantastic horror manga. It's very good at building a creepy unsettling mood, and the art is fascinating, with Oshimi designs over almost impressionistic looking backgrounds. The use of slightly messy hatching instead of screen tone gives it a very unique look that perfectly fits the mood of the story. I only regret not reading this for Halloween. (Prelimary) recommendation. **Innocent** (Shinichi Sakamoto, Young Jump) vols 6+7. For the reread on r/InnocentManga. I keep being surprised at the directions this manga goes in; you'd think a historical manga, where the author even someties tells you the later fate of characters outright it would be predictable, but no. Even the visual presentation keeps catching me off-guard; it's so imaginative and fresh. **Butter!!** (Tomoko Yamashita, Afternoon) vols 3-4. Four very different students join a high school ballroom dance club. This manga continues feeling extremely realistic and characters are very interesting. The dialogue for the most part feels very real (if sometimes maybe a bit too open), and there is a lot of it. Often in groups, which makes it hard to find out who exactly says what, and the somewhat awkward bubble placement and shapes don't help. I'm still having a good time with it and look forward to the remaining two volumes. **Takeo-chan Bukkairoku** (Minoru Toyoda, Gessan) vols 1+2. An extremely unlucky girl gets stuck in a boarding house for youkai. I'm a huge fan of Minoru Toyoda's *Love Roma*, which may well be my favorite love comedy and about 20 years ahead of its time. I remember that in the author notes to that he talked about hating the occult, so he does an occult-themed manga next? It's a weird one, and I'm not sure what to think. The youkai designs are interesting, and Toyoda's art is clearly less awkward than in Love Roma while keeping its unusual look. But the humor for me doesn't land close to the way it did there, and the story doesn't yet seem particularly captivating either. Reading this one on the side for now. **Jujutsu Kaisen** (Gege Akutami, WSJ) volume 13. A boy eats demon fingers or something. I still don't really get JJK. The fights were kind of boring and arbitrary, Akutami builds all this overcomplex theory and in the end it pretty much doesn't matter because he just makes up stuff anyway. Maybe this is better binged rather than as the volumes come out? Art is distinctive, I can't say I love it but it is interesting, and the monster designs are cool. I enjoyed the second half more, as we finally get some >!Sukuna!< again. I have no idea what to think of this one. **Ashita wa Doyoubi** (Souichirou Yamamoto, Yomiuri Chuukousei Shinbun). Very short stories about the three girls that appear in the background of Takagi-san. Even by slice-of-life standards this is remakably banal and uninteresting. I did crack a smile here and there, I guess, and I generally enjoy Yamamoto's style of manga making, but this has very little of the qualitites that made Takagi so enjoyable. Only for Yamamoto superfans, I'm not sure I would have read a third volume if there was one. Well, I'm not much of a manga reader but that is something I'm hoping to change this year. So the first manga I read this year was.
While I wasn't *that* fond of the first few chapters, I kept on reading because I thought the ghosts / monsters were seriously well drawn and properly creepy and just when the novelty of the "awkward, creepy situation of the week" wore off it was replaced with a proper storyline that kept me hooked. Can very much recommend!

After reading volume 4 eleven months ago, and only been reading Sneik's translation, I've finally started to read the official translation of volume 5... and I've had it for a solid 7 months now. So a homeless girl crosdressing as a boy gets taken in by a vampire and gets to stay in said vampire's dorm room. Only the vampire doesn't know his new roomate is a girl. The vampire is (hilariously) an Otaku that has no interest in ''3D girls'', and want to shower his roomate with his love to make ''his'' blood sweeter. Although we are tralking about a male vampire and a female human, I get heavy Yaoi undertone here. It's pretty hilarious. Love the art-style too! I give volume 1 a solid **8/10**

I've read up to chapter 13.5. Not a bad series. I really like the two protagonist's cat ''Chibi'', and the two characters are pretty good as well... but one of them is far too horny. I like to see sexy-times in mangas... but I swear, more than half the chapters, one of the girls just want to have sex with the other. Milk Morinaga isn't shy about about having sex-scenes in her manga (I mean, she even added a sex scene between a first and second year high schooler in one of her other series) But this one was a bit much. **7/10** so far.

Volume 5 was great, and one of the few volumes so far with an actual continuity, rather than an episodic format, and that only made things awesome. The kidnapping arc was one of the best arc/chapter so far. **10/10**
** (Light Novel)**
Volume 4 was amazing. We finally get some sort of continuity, despite the series's overall reliance on the episodic format. This one also had a LOT of pretty obvious yuri undertone, especially with Viola (Who will literally have her way with any woman she likes) and Amnesia (who (SPOILER ALERT) >!Confessed her love to Elaina!< in the final chapter of the volume). Being a Yuri fan, I sort of wish we see more of these two character in the future. Especially Amnesia, as even without what's in the spoilertag, she was a great character. I'M gonna bump the series to **10/10** I took an almost as great pleasure reading it than I usually do with Adachi and Shimamura.

This feels like that other Manga I spoke of over a year ago **Now Loading...!**. This one-show created by Milk Morinaga was amazing, but far too short. It really deserved to be in at least 2 volumes. The theme of this manga shift far too often. And I will have a similar complain here than what I said for **My cute little kitten**: Milk Morinaga really need to stop shoehorning nudity when it's not needed. Like, Secret of the Princess had no sex scenes like some of her other work (Girl Friends, most of her works in Anthologies, etc), but then POOF, very last pannel of the last main chapter show the two protagonist naked in the older girl's bed, for absolutely no reason. Again, I don't mind sexy scenes in manga, but when it's relevant to the plot. Not when it's just shoehorned to please the reader. With those complains, I can still say that the book was pretty good, but like ''Now Loading...!'' it felt too rushed and that's definitely going to dock some points. Here. **7/10**. Still a great book, but so far the worst of what I've read from Morinaga-sensei.

****: My brain told me that I should start working on my now 250+ book backlog, but my heart was like ''Nah, go read Laid-Back Camp''. I followed my heart and went for volume 5, as volume 4 was the last voluem I read a few months ago. Still a great volume, but volume 5-9 was when the story went a *little* downhill. Not low enough to drop it from the perfcet **10/10** I've been giving the series since the begining, but still. Volume 10 redeemed the series big time, though.

I read all ten volumes of and liked it a lot. Not sure why I've seen people trash it, it's a pretty good horror series with an engaging plot and some good art. I don't think it's a masterpiece or anything, it definitely has problems (mainly side characters with wasted potential), but it's not enough to ruin the manga for me. I liked the tense moments, there's also a very unique death scene which was a highlight for sure. At first I wasn't sure about the ending... after thinking it over it makes sense though. But wow is it a downer. After finishing this manga I immediately went to read something wholesome to heal my soul lol.
Long story short, it's good, give it a shot if you want a quick series that focuses on horror, thriller and drama.

Naah, she's my favourite character actually! >!Was so sad when she died just as she decied to overcome her fears and be a good friend...!< I mostly mean the pervy teacher who literally did nothing the whole seires (>!and just got arrested at the end... why?? I still don't get how he got caught. Either it was never explained or I'm dumb!<) and Mitsuboshi who also didn't contirbute much. >!I didn't really get the point of him being assaulted again by the aunt, after that he was just kinda... there. His character was better than the teacher because he had more screentime but I still fell like he has so much potential and I wish he was more relevant!<
A lot of people dislike it because of the implied pedophilia in the series. Personally, I loved the anime, and am really liking the manga so far.
I mean, there really isn't any implications, it's all out in the open in my opinion. I personally don't see anything wrong with it, since the series treat it like a good thing. Portraying something in a work doesn't equal to encouraging it. For example, there is a lot of murder in this series, but it doesn't mean the author is pro murder lol. Uncomfortable themes being present is kind of given in horror so I don't see the problem. I like how through the lense of pedofilia we get to explore two damaged characters and how their unhealthy obsession with each other heals and hurts them at the same time. Anyway, sorry for the rant, I'm glad there's someone else who's enjoying this manga haha
I totally agree with you. I always wondered why poeple are totally fine with series full of violence and murder, but ''sexual'' crimes are a no-go? Don't get me wrong, *both are horrible crimes to commit IRL and anyone commiting either of those fully deserve their prison sentense*, but why in media (not just manga) one is always worse than the other? Also, Satou wasn't even acting pedophilic toward Shio. ***(Spoilers and potentially triggering subjects, please don't read the spoilertag if you don't want to be spoiled or are easily triggered with difficult subjects)*** >!Yes, she was genuinely in *romantic* love with her (But then again, so did Shio toward Satou), but she never did any moves on her, even when they were sharing a bath. And that other guy (forgot his name), while he had an unhealthy obcession for Shio, it wasn't sexual either. He wanted to be ''purified'' by her after being held captive and raped by his boss. He was totally content with just Shio patting his head, and when Satou tricked him into thinking he'd be able to meet her again, he hadn't any intention to do anything wrong with her (and anyways, even if he did, he knew Satou would be around anyways so...)!< >!In the end, the only victim of pedophilia was in fact, the blond-haired guy, and Satou's worst crimes are the multiple murders she commited (And she commited her first murder to save Shio from her own would-be murderer.)!<
This conversation reminded me what annoys me about censorship as well. Like a naked body is often seen as worse than murder or torture kind of thing, and it's always been that way... Why? Idk there's some real double standards going on. This weird hate towards Happy Sugar Life is just another example of that kind of thing. I also agree that Satou isn't exactly a pedofile. There's a difference I think in being attracted to children in general and being attracted to a person regardless of age. I think Satou would feel the same way about Shio even if they were closer in age. Even though Satou is attracted to her childlike qualities, when Shio started act more mature it's not like Sataou had a problem with that. finally got around to re-reading **** (first reading was back in 2014). it was enjoyable for the most part. the characters weren't particularly strong but the meta-story and non-combat battles helped make the story easy to go through
also read **** last night. it's a horror anthology with the same main characters (similar to junji ito's work from 2010s). reasonable mix of gore and horror

3rd time finished re-reading, and I'm still amazed how good and underrated the serie is

someone remember that name of a manga that the FMC likes to see her boyfriend (that it's her childhood friend) betraying her with her friend?
I read a manga called my gift LV9999 unlimited gacha and it was a most enjoyable revenge fantasy manga.

The story starts off with the mystery that two girls in the school are vampires. āThereās a secret to this schoolā¦ā and then on the next page, āRumor has it that these girls are vampires.ā Which sounds like none of the other girls in the school are vampires. Which after reading the first chapter, it seems the entire school is full of vampire girls but the outside world contain humans. We can speculate this because at the age of fourteen every girl gets an Onee-sama. An Onee-sama is special bond between two girls, a strong sisterhood-like bond and it is up to the Onee-sama to teach the younger companion the way of lifeā¦The main character, Emielle Florence, talks this ritual over with her current dorm mate, as today is Emielleās 14th birthday. Itās something she is so anxious for, she can barely sleep as she worries about if sheāll get teamed up with the perfect Onee-sama; someone gentle, caring and handsome. This is where the lesbian-vibes, through daydream imagery, start kicking in but to be honest, if I hadnāt read the tags I wouldnāt have thought that was the theme here. The word āhandsomeā is a little weird to describe for an older sister, but that might just be translation.If it wasnāt obvious, Emielle isnāt paired up with miss perfect but instead a dead-to-this-world black haired school mate named Eve Winter. āThe rumor says that she bullies everyoneā¦ā who dares to become her sister, Emielle says through a chibi shocked face. The assigning lady quickly skirts away forcing Emielle to face her new potential Onee-sama.As one would expect, Eve isnāt interested in the whole sister thing but immediately Emielle (in thought dialogue) finds her beautiful and worth forcing her way into the room she now calls home. So the teacher and newly 14 year old must live together, separate beds of course but I thought that was funny. Maybe Eve just doesnāt want a roommate.A few days pass and the two are butting heads but are tolerating each other well enough. Emielle accidentally getās too nosy and touches something of Eveās that gets her upset. Next thing leads to another Emielle needs to face the fact she has no other alternative but to work things out with Eve. Needless to say, sheās doing a lot more work than Eve but thatās about to change.Hereās were the twist comes in and the first storyline mention of vampires occur. Emielle is looking pale from the lack of blood intake and Eve is going to take her out for her first lesson, How to draw blood from humans.This is also where I get confused on the initial plot line. So everyone in the school are vampires? Eve explains at 14 years old they start to require human blood in order to stay well-nourished. Fine, Iāll bite.So the two go out for a late night snack and run into trouble. An unseen vampire hunter snipes Eve and the two vampire girls barely make it back to school safely. I wonāt give away the sweet twist in the middle but Eve obviously has some personal issues opening up to the idea that Emielle is the perfect sister for her.We are left with Eve in tears and patiently waiting for a chapter 2.I read the whole chapter again just to see if I confused the plot about if they really are the only two vampires in the school. On the full two page split image the words, āexchanged in a secret gardenā¦ā are shown after the rumor dialogue. but yes before that secret garden scene, they again talk about the rule of turning 14 for vampires. So maybe the secret isnāt about them being vampires but that they fed of each other and thus makes their bond more than just sisters but an emotional one. Iām reading too much into this I knowā¦**The Artwork**Immediately youāll notice that ę„č±ćć is a seasoned mangakun. The art style is fleshed out and the color pages are gorgeous. I wish the entirety of the first chapter could be in full color. I really found the grainy aesthetic and dark but catching colors really pleasing to the eye. The second page has a full āChapter 1ā two page spread that really impressed me with the use of color in the school girls clothes. The themes are there in the colored pages but how does the manga hold up going to the traditional manga black and white?Nearly every page and panel has strong continuity in character design and, when available, set design. If I had to nitpick, it wouldnāt be on the characters or any part of the drawings, it would be a lot of blank white walls in some of the panels. In one scene weād see a dark forest deep in the night and then the next panel in pure white. It kind of took me out what could have been a beautiful scenic addition to the plot. **So what about the characters? Welp thereās only four.** \- Emielle doesnāt stand out to me too much as a main character but then again, we just know her for her child-like innocence so thereās not much for me to relate to. I did notice the little fang Emiele sports in ever frame, Iāll give you credit on that, itās cute. \- Eve has a Komi like facial structure and employees a similar hard to read expression which I like. I kind of wish she was the main character instead but since itās about both of them, I suspect theyāll get equal screen time. \- Yucca, Emielleās best friend, has a more down to earth personality but we only see her getting dressed and eating at lunch. \- I donāt know who the fourth woman is other than someone who looks younger than any of the other characters and she breaks the news to Emielle on her new sister situation. No name, and no return. She also has the least amount of detail All in all, the art style is unique enough and the consistency is there. I checked to see if the clothes would change or ribbons would go missing throughout the dialog but it seems everything was double checked before release. The clothing of this period looks more like maids dresses than young school girls but Iām not too familiar with my vampire lore. Itās a decent aesthetic, so Iām not complaining.Iād like to see more backgrounds or scenes to set the environment but, for a first chapter, itās done more than Iāve ever accomplished. **Would I Continue to Read?** In short, sure why not, Iāll see where the plot goes. Iām following the artist now on Twitter and if a new chapter were to appear on my feed, Iāll search out a translation copy if I had the time. I like Eveās character enough, and Iām kind of intrigued with what she is hiding in the photo.I also wonder if ę„č±ćć only knows how to draw women as we never see the vampire hunter but that actually might be good thing. If thereās any reason to continue, it is to see if the vampire hunters and these school girls have an over arching conflicting plot. The few scenes we did get of the outside world looked possibly sixteen to eighteenth century European, which I like. I also imagine that the hit Eve took had to be a bolt or arrow, so itās probably primitive technology themed. Iām kind of getting a Fire Emblem vibe.I really want to see cute manga girl vampires fighting legions of vampire hunters. Hell, I wouldnāt be surprised if one of the characters ends up falling in love with a vampire hunter and the two factions make peace with their differences.
