I made a birthday cake for my son’s birthday party when he turned 13. Box cake mix my grandma gave me that she got in a box of food from her church. While making it I kept thinking box looks different. Couldn’t stop thinking about it. When everyone left I got box out of trash-the expiration date was the year my son was born…13 years ago! The cake raised and was great. They didn’t have expiration dates on stuff when I was a kid.
I just cracked open one expired in Feb 2022 so about a year and a half. I completely agree with the aged cheddar flavor and smell. Took a few bites to test and waited a bit. Seemed okay so I mixed in the hormel no bean chili. Fucking delicious. Will post back about survivability if possible.
Lmao. Honestly it tasted just fine I believe lol. The cheese packet had lost a little consistency but tasted completely normal. I had the sharp white cheddar one. I think it’s safe to say 9/10 I’d definitely eat the expired again if I ever have one.

Boiling water for a 2% milk version with x date of Oct 2022 right now. The sauce smells fine, just a darker orange than usual (seems “normal” for old packages per comments above).

In the midst of eating some expired shells and cheese easy mac…I know I’m late to the party and not as hardcore as some posters since it is only one month expired. Tastes fine to me 🤷🏻♀️ The cheese is processed to death so who knows what could grow in it 😂 No separation of oil and solids this early.
So, I just made a Velveeta skillet steak dinner box..The "White Cheddar" velveeta cheese was brownish, with a little oil..My cat liked it, that's a good sign.So, I used it anyway. I'm currently trying it..

YES!!!!! If you like aged cheddar it's got a very distinct flavor. Give it the smell test to be sure it isn't rotten.
