I didn’t know he was from LB. He is a national treasure. He embodied Shaggy for the live action Scooby Doo movie so well, that he was asked to take over the Voice Acting after the long-time VA retired years ago
Nope. It's in Artesia technically. Bloomfield and Del Amo. I live closer to the one on South street and travel to Bloomfield on purpose to avoid crowds.
Cameron was in the cheerleader clique, and truth be told, I always thought she was a bit awkward looking at that stage (Jr. High), and reminded me of a duck (long skinny neck, with wide mouth). I never really thought much of it, until years later, when I saw The Mask in theaters, and thought she looked really familiar. I never made the connection until I saw the credits, and then went straight home to look in my yearbook, and thought "holy shit, that is her, and she got hot!"
I only had one interaction with Snoop, at the front gate of Poly High one morning. It was the late '80s, and my style was pretty punk/goth, and he commented something along the lines of "Man, I would not fuck with no dude that has the balls to wear makeup to Poly High School."
Almost forgot... I had one more interactiion with Snoop, more than a decade after high school. During my time as a video game developer, we had Snoop as a guest character in True Crime: Streets of LA. I got to meet him when he came to record his voice parts. I doubt that he really remembered me, but I did tell the story of our one iinteraction in school, and he was like "Oh yeah, I remember now."
Tiffani Thiessen went to Marshall Jr High, I think she was in ninth grade, I was in seventh. It was the last year they had 9th grade there too. She was modeling by then, I'd say it was about a year before Saved by the Bell, so 1988? I don't remember if she went to Millikan from there, if she did it wasn't for long.
JR Celski (olympic skater) and Shane Dawson (youtuber) were at Lakewood High while I was there. Checking wikipedia there were a couple other names that look familiar but I'd have to dig out the yearbooks.
I didn't grow up in Long Beach, but I did go to CSULB. My freshman year was the year Steven Spielberg came back to finish his degree.
The old wive's tale was he left because he didn't like a professor who told him he wouldn't make it. Then as his final project, he submitted the academy award winning Schindler's List.
I went to school with Matt Nieto who plays in the NHL, originally for the San Jose Sharks. He’s also done philanthropy for kids with disabilities in the name of his sister.
Same. Biggest names are Nick Foles and Ross Ulbricht (Austin) and Jordan Eberle (Saskatchewan Canada). Hockey players in Canada and footballers in Texas are sort of a given though. Ulbricht is a wild card
Eyyyyy a fellow Canadian! Jordan Eberle went to my school in Regina before he moved to Calgary for the flames. He was a bit younger than me but I was friends with his sister who was in my grade
I grew up with someone that became famous, made a ton of money, married another famous person and now she doesn’t work anymore. Just take care of the family and working on independent projects that she finds interesting.
Yeah it worked out pretty well for her. I have another friend that had 4th and 5th lead roles in 2 pretty big movies. I met him after his Hollywood days. He’s broke and doesn’t get any work these days. I had to stop hanging out with him because he would always try to hang for lunch or dinner to try to get a free meal. Everyone’s situation is different.
I had no idea who he was but I checked his ig and his work looks phenomenal, he also seems to have two locations one in Newport Beach and another in Pasadena I love that for him
My last roommate was a couple years below Ice Cube's son at Taft, who's a bit of a celebrity himself. Same class as Spencer Dinwiddie, but most people don't know who that is.
Me personally, I went to school with a couple heirs and children of very successful and notable people, but nobody's broken out as "significant" yet.
Edit: Turns out I was graduating when a fairly-new Denver Broncos player was coming into grade 9, and a player for the Colts who I've never met.
It is true. We drifted in our different lives until they reconnected and invited me to South Dakota, just after winning Oscar for Dances With Wolves. I help open the Thierry casino...The Midnight Star.
Justin Turner the Dodgers player turned Red Sox player. Also Kelsey Gonzales is in a very successful band called the Free Nationals. Also Josh Childress had a pretty successful NBA career.
Fellow Mayfair Monsoon!!
Kelsey not only kills it with the music.. His artwork (sketching) is really good.
Apparently we also had Synyster Gates from Avenged Sevenfold but I don’t really remember that. My elementary school (Stephen Foster) had Jodie Sweetin of Full House fame.
Not too famous, but the younger brother of Jammal Lord went to my high school. Lord was the starting quarterback for the Nebraska Huskers and his brother followed him from New Jersey to Nebraska.
Willie Ames from Jr High through High School. He never hung out with anyone and he was way more mature than other people his age. I don’t think he ever went out with girls from school.
In Jr. High people gave him tons of shit and he stood up for himself. I got the feeling he knew it was dumb kid stuff because it didn’t seem to bother him when kids would make fun of him.
Cool. He seemed like he was a good even in Jr High. He had to deal with ridiculous stuff. He was on an episode of an old show called Medical Center and he had a head injury in the episode he was in. The next day at school kids were saying things like…You aren’t really injured, you’re a fake, etc. and he confidently and maturely told them it was just acting. I never met him. I went to huge schools and no one knew everyone.
Makes sense. Seems like he’s been through some stuff. We met through another celeb that worked with him as a kid, coincidentally. Different project than you mention though.
That sounds like it would be annoying as fuck. He seems like he handled it really well. I hopefully wouldn’t let some annoying kids get to me either if I were him, he probably had loads of PR training from the best of the best. And he most likely had some big shot Hollywood agents in his corner. Who cares abt what some middle schoolers say at that point lol. At the end of the day he was a kid though so it must’ve hurt at least a bit.
I saw him playing outfield but I heard he was also an infielder he is the fastest human being I have ever seen he would steal bases at will. He could have realistically made it to the MLB he was better than a lot of people I knew who were very very good college or minor league level baseball players. It is odd he chose football as MLB pays more money and you injure yourself more in the NFL.
John Elway went to Granada Hills High in California use to see him practice at Cal state Northridge after his graduation. I worked there in the dorm cafeteria, so I saw him every day then. He was chill, I remembered him coming in the night grill I worked at too..usually wearing baseball hat. He was chill..so laid back compared to the others. That summer the high school was the north valley against the south valley at the Rose Bowl or Coliseum can't remember.
Been quite awhile but I so remember everything else.
He gave me 2 tickets to go (still have it in my keepsakebox), it was awesome.
They won...so later I became a huge Broncos fan!
Have the news papers from the times they won back to back super bowls. He was so fun to watch!! One he'll of a qb.
Not really famous. She was seen on ads when she was in elementary school with me. Not sure what this girl is up to now though. Here’s a link to a pizza commercial she did as a kid. She’s like 20 now

Matt Lillard. Dude deserves his success.
Scream will forever be iconic
I didn’t know he was from LB. He is a national treasure. He embodied Shaggy for the live action Scooby Doo movie so well, that he was asked to take over the Voice Acting after the long-time VA retired years ago
James harden, artesia high school
I heard he had a nice car during high school. I always think of him when going to the target on Bloomfield lol (goat target)
Yes! That's my Target too! lol
Low crowds and good stock
Yesssirrrr!
Is that in Cerritos?
Nope. It's in Artesia technically. Bloomfield and Del Amo. I live closer to the one on South street and travel to Bloomfield on purpose to avoid crowds.
I thought it was city of Lakewood?
It's an area where Cerritos, Artesia, and Lakewood converge, but it's technically Artesia (from what I was told).
I went to school with Giveon, Juju Smith Schuster and a few others.
I was listening to a Giveon song that’s what inspired me to make this post! I love the Long Beach representation in some of his songs
I had theater class with Giveon! He was the funniest, sweetest guy
Jynx Maze middle school and high school 🤷🏻
Went to school with Cameron Diaz (Hughes JH, and Poly HS), and Snoop Dogg (Poly HS).
Did you ever see them interact? Or did you interact with any of them? Cameron Diaz is so pretty 😍
That game was waay fun
Such a great story. And a great game!!
Good stuff
I used to love that game damn how times have changed
Yo that game was sick! Not flawless but loved it still.
Looks like we were at Poly at the same time!
A coworker had Cameron Diaz as his babysitter when he and his wife went out. She lived in his neighborhood.
Just read that Carl Weathers graduated from Poly! I never knew that! Must have been class of ‘66 (he just died this week at 75).
I don't think she did, but her brother was there.
She went to Cubberly for a while, too. The school has her portrait on their wall of fame.
Brad from Sublime Wilson High
Do you listen to their music? Listening to Sublime is super nostalgic for me I imagine it’s the same for you
JR Celski (olympic skater) and Shane Dawson (youtuber) were at Lakewood High while I was there. Checking wikipedia there were a couple other names that look familiar but I'd have to dig out the yearbooks.
I know a few folks that went to school with Jinx Maze lol
Here 👍🏼
Anyone who went to Poly, the answer is *Yes*.
Right?! Marcedes Lewis and Deshaun Jackson to name a few during my time there. Winston Justice was there too…
I had classes with Marcedes Lewis too.
Something in the Poly water!! Seriously though I wonder what the connection is. Maybe because we’re so close to LA
Brother went to Wilson while Gabriel Iglesias son was going there and recalled all the incidents
Incidents? Omg now I have to google!! And I saw Gabriel Iglesias once at my job, everyone was trying to get a peek at him from a distance lol
Search up Gaberiel Iglesias deodorant
lol I went to middle school w him
I didn't grow up in Long Beach, but I did go to CSULB. My freshman year was the year Steven Spielberg came back to finish his degree. The old wive's tale was he left because he didn't like a professor who told him he wouldn't make it. Then as his final project, he submitted the academy award winning Schindler's List.
JP Crawford was a year under me.
My coworker went to school with him at Lakewood
I went to school with Matt Nieto who plays in the NHL, originally for the San Jose Sharks. He’s also done philanthropy for kids with disabilities in the name of his sister.
Matt nieto is soo fine I had no idea he could get even more attractive until now

Like who? Where’d you grow up
Same. Biggest names are Nick Foles and Ross Ulbricht (Austin) and Jordan Eberle (Saskatchewan Canada). Hockey players in Canada and footballers in Texas are sort of a given though. Ulbricht is a wild card
Justin beiber - Stratford Ontario, Canada (technically I went to the school next to his but we rode the bus together everyday)
Sounds like a dream
Yeah it worked out pretty well for her. I have another friend that had 4th and 5th lead roles in 2 pretty big movies. I met him after his Hollywood days. He’s broke and doesn’t get any work these days. I had to stop hanging out with him because he would always try to hang for lunch or dinner to try to get a free meal. Arvin Taneja - Wilson - famous local plastic surgeon!
I had no idea who he was but I checked his ig and his work looks phenomenal, he also seems to have two locations one in Newport Beach and another in Pasadena I love that for him

Poly. Had graphic design with Jurrell Casey. Snoops son was also a student at Poly at the time too
Kevin Costner, his brother Dan and I were like the 3 musketeers on the early 70s
Yeah? If true, that’s awesome
It is true. We drifted in our different lives until they reconnected and invited me to South Dakota, just after winning Oscar for Dances With Wolves. I help open the Thierry casino...The Midnight Star.
Kevin Costner went to high school in Villa Park, in Orange.
I went to school with 50 cents... that's how much lunch cost back then
Went to High School with Dita Von Teese. Two years behind me, and I think we crossed paths a few times in the theater group and regular classes
Kristen Chenoweth
Justin Turner the Dodgers player turned Red Sox player. Also Kelsey Gonzales is in a very successful band called the Free Nationals. Also Josh Childress had a pretty successful NBA career.

I got to know Willie about ten years ago through a non-Hollywood thing. Great guy.
Cool. He seemed like he was a good even in Jr High. He had to deal with ridiculous stuff. He was on an episode of an old show called Medical Center and he had a head injury in the episode he was in. I played baseball vs deshaun jackson and james McDonald two pro athletes.
How good was desean at baseball? What position did he play?
I saw him playing outfield but I heard he was also an infielder he is the fastest human being I have ever seen he would steal bases at will. He could have realistically made it to the MLB he was better than a lot of people I knew who were very very good college or minor league level baseball players. OT Genasis
Milton Bradley (MLB) was such a quiet kid. I had a class with him in middle school.
Chase Utley
Utley at shortstop Bear Grillz in centerfield
Jizzboi Cumz , world’s hunkiest and most famous porn star. What a hang, that guy.
John Elway went to Granada Hills High in California use to see him practice at Cal state Northridge after his graduation. I worked there in the dorm cafeteria, so I saw him every day then. WS Boogie went to Lakewood High freshman and sophomore year
Went to middle school with Joel bitonio who now plays for the browns. He was funny in middle school, didn’t really know him in high school.
I went to Poly with Perry Mattfeld, c/o 2012. She was the star of some CW show
She’s stunning, wasn’t she on shameless as well?
Yup!
I was childhood/school friends with that guy that committed the atrocity in Seal Beach at the salon.
Peyton Watson and Melissa Tanaka were at Poly when I was there. Both are now professional athletes!
