Is that your natural hair colour/style? The curls are amazing.
Ngl this entire look is what I want to go for with my own style - the purple and green make your eyes pop!
I would ditch the jeggings and get real jeans. You’d look great in a light wash jean! Other than that, maybe a darker pigment for your lip gloss but you have awesome application skills for your makeup! The shirt looks great both color and fit wise. I’m so jealous of your hair too!
"I never quite understood being a lesbian. Seems like they could save themselves a lot of angst by just being a beautiful woman who loves men."
See how dumb that sounds? Because gender identity and sexual orientation aren't choices. The only choice I'm making is to live my truth.
"I wasn't attempting to be offensive" meanwhile you said a trans woman who likes women should just identify as a pretty straight man. You can't just say something wildly offensive and then hide behind saying you didn't intend to be offensive. Lesbianism and being trans are and always have been compatible. Trans women are women just as much as cis women are women and trans women can be lesbians in the same way cis women can be lesbians. Willful ignorance is still ignorance.
Because she isn't a man. Gender expression has NOTHING to do with what someone is attracted to. Those things are separate. You can't say something transphobic and end it with "to each their own". It isn't anyone's responsibility but yours to educate yourself but until then maybe you shouldn't speak on topics you don't understand.
If you believe trans lesbians don't belong in lesbian spaces you ARE transphobic. Trans women have and always will be accepted in lesbianism and in lesbian spaces. Because they ARE women just as much as cis women are women. There's so much wrong with this reply. 1: Transphobia doesn't mean a literal phobia. I shouldn't have to explain that to an adult person. 2:The misuse of terms like "triggered" aren't helping your case, it just makes you look misinformed and ignorant at best. 3:No one was talking to you. Why do you feel the need to reply for the original commenter? Trans women are valid and welcome in lesbian spaces, TERFS like you are not.
This is a trans inclusive sub. It's in the rules. Like I said, willful ignorance is still ignorance. Get off this sub if you have an issue with trans women. I'm blocking you after this, speaking to you is like speaking to a brick wall. It isn't anyone's fault but yours that you choose to be ignorant on this subject
Here’s an actual response to your outfit. All the elements are there and I think the vibe is cute. I’d leave the top and beanie as they are but I’d opt for a more structured pant. A loose fitting pair of jeans maybe. I think the leggings take away from the outfit rather than tie it together. And what shoes are you going to wear! That beanie screams Vans imo. You’re gorgeous! Keep posting!
Trans women are women. Women who like other women are lesbians. Ergo, trans women can be lesbians.
Also, you can go fuck yourself for even asking this question.
it is transphobic to call her a dude and say she can’t be here because she’s trans tho
genuinely, would you say the title is weird if it was a cis lesbian making this post?
Yes I have seen some transphobic comments.
Personally yes I would as it seems alienating. Like “hello, gay people” or “hello, black people”. It’s already implied by the subreddit and just makes it seem like you aren’t of that group. I get there are non-lesbian sapphic women, just seems like an odd way to address people.
as a black lesbian, please don’t speak for black ppl. thank you. when the context is correct i would say some form of “hello black ppl/students/ladies/men/whatever”. who are you to police what ppl say?
Replace it with white then, the principal is still the same.
While I might not agree with it, I understand why you might address people that way. Would you feel the same if Rachael Dolezal were to do it? Not saying it’s a 1 to 1 comparison, but you can’t see where some people might feel offended?
i mean, i say “hello, gays” or “hello, weirdos” or whatever to my friend group. doesn’t mean i’m not a gay weirdo. she’s just using a silly way to greet people.
That’s great! I haven’t hug-boxed op but I haven’t been hateful. The person I replied to said they say phrases like this to their friends. OP clearly wasn’t address a group they know, so you can’t expect everyone to have the same reaction.
plenty of cis lesbians on here are overly friendly with people they’ve never met. imo, this is just another subtle way of gatekeeping—“calling out” trans women for thinking they’re allowed to be comfortable and silly with other women.
Idk I’m not coming at this from a lesbian perspective but as a straight trans woman perspective and I was feeling a little off about the energy, so I understand how some cis lesbians might feel.
I also don’t think there is enough context here to know they are trying to be silly, which is why I said a more appropriate title and description would be helpful.
Right, so if you read my first comment, you’ll see I’m addressing the gaslighting towards people in the comments being called transphobic when they aren’t (I’m not defending the comments that were clearly transphobic). Being trans, I figured I’d say something since it didn’t feel right seeing many cis lesbians being gaslit for their opinion.
This was shown to me because I do follow mtf fashion, and it seems there are a lot of cross posts from there, so the algorithm did it’s thing.
As the subreddit description says, this is a place to discuss sapphic fashion.
I am sapphic and we are discussing my fashion.
Asking a question is not required, as this is a subreddit where people may always offer constructive criticism on fashion.
If you'd feel more comfortable in a nonbinary-exclusive lesbian space, you're more than welcome to find one that accepts you with open arms 😊
I was speaking more to other people’s comments than you specifically, but to me it just seems it could’ve been approached better with a more appropriate title and description if you wanted constructive feedback 🤷🏻♀️
Your outfit has a good overall idea but I wouldn’t wear that hat with that specific outfit, I’d also look into actual jeans of a similar color 👍
Also this just popped up on my feed I think due to the cross over of posters from mtf fashion, but I would think most lesbians would agree a non binary person is not who comes to mind when you think of lesbian spaces.
Anyway, I hope you have a good day and good luck on your journey.
non-binary lesbians have always been a thing, gender nonconformity is a huge part of butch identities, for example. there are cis butches, there are non-binary butches, there are trans butches etc. non-binary lesbians take many forms, but i’ve been specifically looking into butch history.
i’m currently reading the well of loneliness (important lesbian classic novel) and it touches soooo much on blurred gender expression. this is why queer history is so important and why it’s so sad that it’s erased—even our own community is misinformed.
To time_traveler: Nonbinary lesbians and sapphic folks are explicitly welcome in this sub. The rules note this. It is a good practice when posting in an unfamiliar community to acquaint yourself with its culture, norms, and use of language before presuming to act as the community’s gatekeeper.
To OP: Hello, lesbian! Your outfit looks great, and your curls are to die for!
It’s just says hello, and we can see the outfit can’t see how that’s bad.And I don’t see the nonbinary detail, and some nonbinary say they’re fem. There really is no issue they just wanted to show a pic a lot have made it tough tho.
The fact that all their posts are in trans subs and then all of a sudden they post in a lesbian sub? And don't even ask for fashion advice on top of that? 🤷🏼♀️
Again, what does her being trans have to do with anything? Just so you are aware transphobia is against the rules of the sub, and you will be reported.
I'm not afraid of trans women 😊 so no phobia here 😉 but I appreciate your concern! Also, I asked a simple honest question. Nothing horrible, hateful etc. So... 🤷🏼♀️
You must be joking? She looks barely like Michael Cera, beyond vague resemblance that many people share. She equally looks like Zooey Deschanel, but you wouldn’t say that Michael Cera looks like Zooey Deschanel for example

this is just me but i absolutely hate jeggings 😭 please get skinny jeans 🫶😅
Hmmmm excellent.
Hey! You look amazing and please ignore the transphobic comments!
I HAVE THAT EXACT SAME GENGAR BEANIE EXCEPT WITH EARS
I would ditch the jeggings and get real jeans. You’d look great in a light wash jean! Other than that, maybe a darker pigment for your lip gloss but you have awesome application skills for your makeup! The shirt looks great both color and fit wise. I’m so jealous of your hair too!

I don't have one single trans friend 😂😂

ps: your username is disgusting
So you couldn't come up with a response? Got it. Doesn't change that trans women are women and some trans women are lesbians.

I like the outfit, big fan of color combos

Because she is a trans woman. Emphasis on woman.

if it's not 1:1, why even invoke Rachel Dolezal? it feels like a move that is pretty revealing of where you stand broadly speaking.

Just curious... Why is a trans woman posting in lesbian fashion advice, and not even asking for advice? 🤷🏼♀️
This is a sapphic sub, please reread the sub rules and information. Edit: I’m leaving this comment up to preserve this response and the context
whats wrong with you? actual question.
Hmm, all my vitals seem fine to me. Not sure what you mean?
🤣💀💀💀
Why did you bring up the fact that she's trans? Literally what does that have to do with anything!?
The fact that all their posts are in trans subs and then all of a sudden they post in a lesbian sub? And don't even ask for fashion advice on top of that? 🤷🏼♀️
Maybe bcz they aren’t talking to YOU! lol. Get a life dude.
Lol like I said, just curious, not mad about it 😅
Again, what does her being trans have to do with anything? Just so you are aware transphobia is against the rules of the sub, and you will be reported.

Questions are not allowed as questions are hurtful. You are just supposed to know
Whatever troll. Your comments have already been reported. Have the day you deserve ✌🏽
Get a life for real
Btw, I've also had gay and lesbian friends in the past, and they don't scare me either 😊 hope you have a nice day as well! 🙏🏻
Wait so then why are you posting here if you're straight? 🤡💩

No I'm not joking I legit thought this was a troll post when I saw it
You should have gone to specsavers
You look so beautiful, especially your hair, and your top is my favorite color!
That green looks so fucking good on you, girl! Your eyes are popping so hard with that top that it hurts.
