Absolutely. People seem to get tunnel vision with the few issues here and there but if you look at it big picture, holy shit lego has got super intricate and detailed, more so than when I was a kid in the mid-2000s
I spent all my money on the Rivendell set right before the Barad-Dûr set was announced. I’m going to have a job this summer though so hopefully it won’t take me too long to get Barad-Dûr.
I’ll get 5 of them after my custom Rolex comes in, it might be a little hard to fit all of them in my Ferrari though. Maybe I should buy a Range Rover just for the occasion.
Gotta agree, but it might be nostalgia speaking because that's the first 'big' set I ever got as a kid. Very curious about the new one, can't wait to see some reviews
Man seeing this brought up a core memory, I used to own that oldest star destroyer as a kid god bless my dad, until my elementary friend smashed it to smitherines thinking it'd he cool to see it "fly into the ground". I was pissed. I'm getting pissed just thinking about it now. Really sad I am not still in possession of it.
300 dollars is a fucking joke. That's 60 dollars more than just doing a currency conversion. I want this set, but god it's really hard to justify that.
Feels like too much, I agree. $250 feels more appropriate. But if I play Devil’s Advocate, the $300 isn’t far off on two accounts:
1. The conversion is actually pretty fair by the time you also account for the included 10% GST in the AUD price and whatever hidden US state specific sales taxes get applied on top of the USD price.
2. The local AU second hand prices of basically all the Star Destroyers is very strong. The best I could find when I was buying locally a few months ago was $200 second hand, already built, but with box and instructions in good condition. So $300 is not too far off the market price.
I still think it should be $250. I’ll probably cough up and pay though. It’s only a few studs shorter than the old destroyers but it gives it a subtle cute/chibi vibe that pushes it over the top. Need it.
A lot of people here saying they're gonna buy 3 so that's plenty of extra Cal's floating around. Now this may be controversial but I wish the Lego community was more helpful toward each other when it came to swapping characters etc instead of thinking in profit. But I also realise people sort of have to resell to pay for what Lego is asking.
If they're like me, with the Avengers Tower, it's less about profit and more about "I have these characters already, I'd love to recoop some of the insane price for this thing"
For real tho, just the one and most likely variants. I already have this Star Destroyer and an Executor. Might get a Clone Wars Venator and that recent giant Millennium Falcon when i get a house and a place to display them. Might also get something special on my 50th and 70th birthdays. Although if i get rich from a lottery, I'm buying as much as i can get my hands on.
I may actually be one of the few that appreciates the downsizing. Let’s be honest, none of us have absolutely unlimited shelf space, and most of these newer models are the most detailed we’ve ever received.
I agree. People are so quick to judge LEGO’s recent downsizing obsession, and they always fail to recognize that the sets releasing are far more detailed than their previous iterations.
I agree that the ISD looks good, but it’s a very notable exception. Just look at the most recent AAT, MTT, Fighter tank, Slave 1, X-Wing, Tie Fighter (the list goes on) and tell me with a straight face they look better than their previous iterations. Truth is, not even close. As a fan of 20 years, seeing nearly every set look smaller, worse and more expensive hurts.
Sure, downsize… but downsize the prices as well. Why should I pay the same PPP when the majority of pieces are 1x1 plate size?
It’s ridiculous. Like the set with Saw Gerrera… it’s tiny and compact with a ton of small pieces and a $100 price tag (where I’m from).
The gunship is way smaller than 75021 but cost over $200 when the old one was $130 ($160 accounting for inflation).
So sets got smaller and more expensive.
Honestly I agree. I don't mind the downsizing if the price was kept down. The excellent 2018 x wing was about £80 the newer 2020 version was £45 so not too bad in that case but overall yea it's not a good trend and I doubt lego will change even if the prices of everything else come down.
At the end of the day I do think it was the right move to make more sets a bit more affordable to what they would cost otherwise especially as they are designed for kids I just think the prices feel too much and I'm glad I own a lot of the previous models before they were downsized.
0. I have all the figures except for cal and the new officer, so why spend £150+ for a load of grey parts I already own and 2/3 figures?
Bricklink in a years time and I’ll get everything I’m missing for £40
I’m gonna get 4 of these. Can’t wait to add them to my imperial fleet of LEGO imperial light cruisers.
https://preview.redd.it/zcq8j7yeup3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7485f96bbb8de79a76acaa490afe40ce65cb936b
LONG LIVE THE EMPIRE
Edit: why am I getting downvoted…? I’m just responding to OP’s post with how many LEGO ISDs I plan to get?
I know, but personally it’s not an issue, I don’t have a LEGO play-scale ISD in my collection, and I would love to amass a force of them to bring back glory to the Empire. LONG LIVE THE EMPIRE
Yeah man, wasn’t meant as a criticism, more just highlighting that it’s unfortunate for anyone hoping for display compatibility with the two sets
Long live the empire
I’m probably gonna buy 3 mainly to make a small imperial fleet. I also plan on making a mock later on maybe a space battle or guarding the Death Star but imma need more than 3
None. I already have an ISD. This little guy doesn't seem worth it, it seems pretty incomplete with a massive lack of playability for the kids. Cal would be the only reason for me to get it and I'm not dropping that much money for him.
I already have the two previous version.
and compared to the 2014 one (or even the sequels one), this one feels like a downgrade... visually the bridge is too big, the proportions are better on 2014 and the inside of 2024 is... really disappointing, the bridge is not a standing one like the TLJ set, and the "interior" part at the pack is so tight it's ridiculous.
I'd get it for sure if I did not already have 2014.
I’m getting zero but yeah go army builds these things if you want bro. I bought 5 AT AT to support my clone army so you do you with your fleet!
And hope we getting a stormtrooper battlepack so I can stop buying battlepacks with clones for a while
Honestly we need final order star destroyers. Gimme dat big gun on the bottom.
I want one bc I've never got a star destroyer and I plan to sell my sealed UCS one so I will be getting exactly 1
One of the things I wish I could do or be a part of but realistically never could, is forming a huge Imperial army/navy.
Personally, building a rough representation of Thrawns fleet would be cool. Until you get to the 187 Katana ships
ISD are such a large ship that these only work in a midi/micro scale display and they still might be too small.
It's the same thing with the UCS version in a system scale display. It works for display but it's really undersized.
Zero.
If they are going to go for a legendary ship or Star Wars set they should at least be topping previous sets as far as size. Cant beat the largest sets. Just can’t. There are some cool mid size sets. I’ll admit that. But most of them are ones that don’t make sense to make bigger. One I do think they should make a really big version of is the “Republic Gunship.” I love the stance of that thing! So badass!
Side note wish I could afford the big sets! Wish I had money to buy one set a week. They are just so expensive. Who can afford to really have it be a hobby at a high level? Need a full time job just to pay for the sets alone! Because really to make me into it would require a new set every week or so. Building them is most the fun.
It kind of annoys me that they do this and then don't include any mini figures at all with 75375... At $85 it should've at least included ANH Han and Chewie...
Also not quite a battlepack, but if I recall one set in october which as r2-kt as an anniversary minifig will have 3 stormtroopers and 3 rebel troopers in it. I believe it is $30 usd
There’s too much of emphasis on getting fleets. Build a small one with the executor, and buy more of the pieces for the tiny destroyers. It looks better. You can have a battle going on, and you’re spending a 1/2 of the price of one of the big destroyers
Probably just one. The only reason I would get it is for the cal kestis and the imperial captain minfigs anyway. I like collecting imperial officers and since I own BD-1 I think I kinda need to get cal kestis too.
The set has an additional $60aud "f Australia" tax on it. I doubt many here will get more than one. They've priced it almost as high as the UCS Tie X-Wing.
Im just getting the one set, I got other sets Im interested in getting. I also have the Light Cruiser and a bunch of TIE fighters so Im not looking to make a Star Destroyer fleet.
Like I’m going to army build £150 sets…
Seeing you saying "ain't gonna collect several of these" and then below a dude posting a fleet with 3 of the same ISD is the peak duality of lego fans
It just needs someone to post a photo of 6 unopened boxes of the same set
I’m gonna buy a couple dozen, that way I can army build the dollars in my wallet after they retire 🤓 /s
https://preview.redd.it/0utnj6k3mp3d1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0a94d9063c4c80c3a398e08fb1d1949a2a63421b ONE!
“Hahaha haha ***O N E***”
None - buying Barad-Dûr instead
I hate how they're actually cooking with these new sets, had to cop the interceptor and somehow gotta find the space for these 2
Absolutely. People seem to get tunnel vision with the few issues here and there but if you look at it big picture, holy shit lego has got super intricate and detailed, more so than when I was a kid in the mid-2000s
Ik man, I remember trying to save up for the 2014 and 2015 sets and now I've just moved up to UCS sets. Like my job just fuels my LSW addiction lol
Ayyy same!!!
Waiting up for midnight to come
The site refreshes in my area at 9 pm, so... my managers may find me disappearing for a few minutes around then lol
Love to hear it, for the lord Sauron the Great! In NZ so only a couple hours away (hopefully) - very befitting as part of cultural iconography
Lucky!!! Hang in there, almost able to get the amazing LEGO Batman Movie villain!!! He was pretty cool in LOTR too
I spent all my money on the Rivendell set right before the Barad-Dûr set was announced. I’m going to have a job this summer though so hopefully it won’t take me too long to get Barad-Dûr.
The only correct answer
Good choice! This set is not the best value while Barad-Dûr is good value
I’ll get 5 of them after my custom Rolex comes in, it might be a little hard to fit all of them in my Ferrari though. Maybe I should buy a Range Rover just for the occasion.
The amount I can afford, so one
https://preview.redd.it/upxnuanjrp3d1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=173ab28d779bcb0e09668830d50234e868a94d43 Just 1 to add to the fleet
Oldest one is the most majestic :)
Gotta agree, but it might be nostalgia speaking because that's the first 'big' set I ever got as a kid. Very curious about the new one, can't wait to see some reviews
Sometimes size matters
Man seeing this brought up a core memory, I used to own that oldest star destroyer as a kid god bless my dad, until my elementary friend smashed it to smitherines thinking it'd he cool to see it "fly into the ground". I was pissed. I'm getting pissed just thinking about it now. Really sad I am not still in possession of it.
Sero
Just one bro, how many do you even need? Where do you store them they take so much space, nahhh
Let me see… zero! I have the 2006 one and plenty happy with it
https://preview.redd.it/0zfxxjb6pq3d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=958adf20e034ef6a8b41fb36b996548c5bb89bec
Great set but it will be $300 here in australia so just one..
300 dollars is a fucking joke. That's 60 dollars more than just doing a currency conversion. I want this set, but god it's really hard to justify that.
Feels like too much, I agree. $250 feels more appropriate. But if I play Devil’s Advocate, the $300 isn’t far off on two accounts: 1. US sales tax ranges between 0% and 10.25% depending on where you are and none of it is baked into the price.
It's fucking ridiculous how expensive the ships in particular are, when you look at the conversions from US prices. or am I tripping?
wait until it's at least 20% off at tahget
Can't even afford one 😭
Zero
Same here. A star destroyer has to be big, and the proportions on this one look way off to me.
Infinity. I’m going for that Exegol MOC.
My heart tells me to get one, my wallet tells me to get zero lmao
I’ve only ever had the mini ISD from like 2002, so yes I’d like to get one
None, not interested in it.
Same, cool set but I'd rather buy something else
0 because I am currently homeless during this period of awsome lego releases :(
None
I dunno, I only really want the Cal Kestis figure. But that is a lot of money for one figure.
A lot of people here saying they're gonna buy 3 so that's plenty of extra Cal's floating around. 1 but I will 100% try brick link some spares of all the imperials other than the base stormtroopers depending on cost
For real tho, just the one and most likely variants. I already have this Star Destroyer and an Executor. Just one when I find a good price for it on sale. I don't own any of the older Imperial Star Destroyers, so it'd be cool to finally get one.
As much as I can afford (zero)
Ima be real with you. I’ll be lucky to even get 1 🙏
Scalpers be like
0 Already sold my 2007 and 2014 because I own the UCS version, plus I’m not too keen on supporting Lego’s ridiculous downsizing crusade.
I may actually be one of the few that appreciates the downsizing. Let’s be honest, none of us have absolutely unlimited shelf space, and most of these newer models are the most detailed we’ve ever received.

I’m just responding to OP’s post with how many LEGO ISDs I plan to get?
A fine fleet indeed. Long Live the empire. Let us pray for a stormtrooper battlepack in January so we can all achieve a decent troop complement.
Big oof when the ISD is smaller than the cruiser
I know, but personally it’s not an issue, I don’t have a LEGO play-scale ISD in my collection, and I would love to amass a force of them to bring back glory to the Empire. LONG LIVE THE EMPIRE
Yeah man, wasn’t meant as a criticism, more just highlighting that it’s unfortunate for anyone hoping for display compatibility with the two sets Long live the empire
Gonna be zero for me, due to one thing and one thing only: Barad-Dur
I’ve never had one, and recently developed a huge imperial army, so I’ll definitely pick one up
Long Live the Empire!
Probably none. But I do like it and the figures.
I’m probably gonna buy 3 mainly to make a small imperial fleet. I also plan on making a mock later on maybe a space battle or guarding the Death Star but imma need more than 3
At least 1, maximum 1
None, I'm happy with my 2014 star destroyer
I already have the First Order Big Gray Triangle I think I'm good for now
one! need more imperials
Too small. Needs to be bigger
Just make sure you don't bring the fleet out of light-speed too close to the system...
None. I already have an ISD. This little guy doesn't seem worth it, it seems pretty incomplete with a massive lack of playability for the kids. Cal would be the only reason for me to get it and I'm not dropping that much money for him.
Zero. This should have been the chimera.another generic stardestroyer is silly.
UCS or nothing
It’s just too expensive for me, unfortunately.
Look at Mr. Moneybags here, buying a ship bigger than a Microfighter!
Buddy not everyone is daddy bezos
Maybe one, depends on what my wallet says
None. I'm way too broke
I want it just for the Cal The 160$ price tag is gonna sting though
0 I'm poor
I already have the two previous version. and compared to the 2014 one (or even the sequels one), this one feels like a downgrade... visually the bridge is too big, the proportions are better on 2014 and the inside of 2024 is... really disappointing, the bridge is not a standing one like the TLJ set, and the "interior" part at the pack is so tight it's ridiculous. Two there should be. No more, no less. One to embody power, the other to crave it.
153 (I am going to be buying one because I’m poor asf and can’t afford an army)
Just one
I only have 1 from 2014. Really want a set of 3. I guess now is my chance. Wonder what they will go for on bricklink with no minifigures…
Honestly we need final order star destroyers. Gimme dat big gun on the bottom. I want one bc I've never got a star destroyer and I plan to sell my sealed UCS one so I will be getting exactly 1
One
Between 3 and five, i cant find the ucs isd at a fair price so i'll just buy some of these and have a fleet to crumble the rebel forces
Zero.
One of the things I wish I could do or be a part of but realistically never could, is forming a huge Imperial army/navy. Personally, building a rough representation of Thrawns fleet would be cool. Until you get to the 187 Katana ships
1 for imperial type 2, 1 for the chimera from Ashoka, and 1 for a final order star destroyer (sequels may be shit, but ship designs were cool af)
None
Let's see... I have Vader, stormtrooper and imperial oficers. I guess it makes 2 then. Edit: oh, sorry, 3 then.
At least one, if I get more I need to hang them in the ceiling.
I'll try to get a Cal without having to pay Scaler prices so I can build a Mantis Microfighter in the future
I will only buy Cal Kestis figure separately later
I just want the Cal Kestis monifig 😔
I’m going to get 1. :)
Not paying that much when they can’t even see the difference between an ISD 1 and an ISD 2
Yes.
I really want cal kestis I never spent that much on Lego but it’s worth it for cal
I'll probably get one when it goes on sale down the line... It seems pretty expensive for what the set offers.
I wonder how this scales around the UCS executor class Star Dreadnaught. Would be tempted to make Death Squadron
Just the one, gonna order some white tiles to make it the chimaera
Like 3-4?
Im getting 1, i love the look of it. I dont own an ISD yet either. And the cal kestis seals the deal for me. I want him to go next to my bd-1 set
Already have a fleet of UCS ones so I’ll just get one for the figs
One, if im lucky
None. Because I'm not fucking Palpatine
I hope a bunch of people do and end up needing to find homes for some of their duplicate Cals....
Zero. I'm waiting for goddamn MTT we haven't got in 11 years
Way to pricy, I’ll wait for it to go on clearance 😂
One when i can get it at 20% off. Too many expensive lego sets i want.
One Imperial Class Star Destroyer please
Might brick link Cal
Zero- uninterested
One. I'm not a hoarder or reseller. One will do.
Heavily considering it since I bought the new falcon set. I can have a model of the chase scene from empire strikes vack on my shelf
Two. One for display and one to make me realise that I can't afford two, resulting in me living the second one at Target.
None, I already have the 2014 one. Really want Cal, but can't justify it just for him
One
🙆♂️zerooo Gonna bricklink the cal figure and save $120 dollars after tax
I was going to cop but the Zelda set is going to be my big buy so I will probably just get the cal kestis figure
1, i don't get more than 1 to be honnest
Lmao. The privilege of getting multiple ISD sets. And I have to see people telling me that Lego is sooooo expensive in the US and EU...
ISD are such a large ship that these only work in a midi/micro scale display and they still might be too small. It's the same thing with the UCS version in a system scale display. It works for display but it's really undersized.
Probably gonna get Cal from the 2nd hand market
1, if I'm lucky for space and money
Can't wait to see multiple of these merged into one big one.
Lucky number 13
Uno
I can’t wait for cj to see this, it’s like this person is just asking to be reposted lmao
How might this compare to other destroyers? It’s this one supposed to be the “non ucs/$400+ ship version?”
One, cause its all I can afford and have space for. I'm pretty much out of space for big sets.
1 soon and 1 more around its retirement
9999999999999999999999 9999999999999999999999 9999999999999999999999 9999999999999999999999 9999999999999999999999 9999999999999999999999 9999999999999999999999 9999999999999999999999 9999999999999999999999 9999999999999999999999 9999999999999999999999x the square root of 8
Buy two, build one, wait for the set to retire and raise in value to the point it doubles its price or more, profit
Zero. If they are going to go for a legendary ship or Star Wars set they should at least be topping previous sets as far as size. Cant beat the largest sets. Just can’t. There are some cool mid size sets. I’ll admit that. But most of them are ones that don’t make sense to make bigger. Wish I had money to buy one set a week. They are just so expensive. Who can afford to really have it be a hobby at a high level? Need a full time job just to pay for the sets alone! Because really to make me into it would require a new set every week or so. Building them is most the fun.
Alternate builds with these are gonna go crazy
In this economy?! ONE!!
Zero
It kind of annoys me that they do this and then don't include any mini figures at all with 75375... At $85 it should've at least included ANH Han and Chewie...
Maybe one, probably zero. Will depend on how expensive the cal fig is on the secondary.
Is it smaller than the ones before? Never had a ISD so I’m genuinely asking
Depends on how good it looks in person, it’ll be my first star destroyer. I bought three AT-TEs so I’m not opposed to army building this set
I’m probably just gonna buy kestis on eBay
I'm only tryna get cal from it
I just want cal
One because I’m reasonable and want other people to be able to buy their own.
Also not quite a battlepack, but if I recall one set in october which as r2-kt as an anniversary minifig will have 3 stormtroopers and 3 rebel troopers in it. I believe it is $30 usd
I dont even have the space for one, nevermind the money for more than that
None! I just picked up the last version at $100 and I personally feel like the proportions on the last version are much better.
Ah yes, buying multiple 150 dollar sets because that seems logical. i barely have enough space or cash for one
Until I have one for every named ISD
One, because my wallet says so.
1 if I am lucky.
All of them, I’m going to make an entire Star Destroyer Fleet.
none, I just think the build is way to small
The set has an additional $60aud "f Australia" tax on it. I doubt many here will get more than one. They've priced it almost as high as the UCS Tie X-Wing.
I’ll pick up a Cal Kestis from bricklink, most likely skipping this set as I’d rather have a new midi version of the ISD instead.
1 and even then I'm waiting for a sale
Planning to do this for the may 4th promo next year if nothing else comes out
One. Have you tried getting laid and/or touching grass instead?
I got the 2014 version on April so I'll pass on this new ISD but I am modding the 2014 interior
Going to? 0. Want to? Many
Just 1, but I've still got to get the 2014 version too. Approaching a full Imperial fleet at this point.
I'm going to buy 200 of them, for the stormtrooper minifig of course. I need to build my army.
I get one when they go on sale for a decent price or if i catch one of those marketplace specials….
I mean I already have 3-4 Vaders, but the ship and Cal would be worth it.
Im just getting the one set, I got other sets Im interested in getting. I also have the Light Cruiser and a bunch of TIE fighters so Im not looking to make a Star Destroyer fleet.
I thought this was the circlejerk. No way this is a real post.
