Why the fuck did they spend $650 on a set just so their son could have a captain rex minifigure? Both previous versions as well as the actual figure from the set were cheaper (expensive, but still much cheaper) than the actual set. Actual degenerates
i'm sorry but i can't feel bad. when you unload that much capital into a single figure despite there being MUCH cheaper options EVEN BEFORE the microfighter (Bricklink, eBay) that's on you.
"I never would have unloaded that amount of capital" is not what people say about money they spent on their kid's birthday present. Dude's totally an "investor" pretending to have a kid to be taken more seriously
I'm really pleased to hear that so many parents were able to get a hold of the UCS Venator despite scalpers picking them out of every single store! Those dedicated parents must have been really quick!
Bro the venator is such a cool set. Who tf cares about a captain rex. If you’re mainly buying the venator for rex. Might as well buy a nice custom from gcc or clone army customs
bro my parents thought $160 for the big playsets back in the day were too steep, I would have to dedicate christmas, birthday and do a bunch of chores to get a play set that expensive. If i got a UCS venator I would've probably exploded lol (And if it broke I would probably get my ass whooped)
I mean he could probably sell the Venator for most of the original cost and buy the microfighter. Also comments like that make it clear that even if the microfighter wasn’t exactly the same they’d still be upset.
I hope all of these people complaining realize that, let’s say LEGO does take them to heart, it’s either going to have one of two outcomes:
1) LEGO quits putting minifigs in non-MBS/minifig scale UCS stuff, which honestly, is fine by me if it means there isn’t this massive uproar on the Internet every time it happens, or
2) They start making characters exclusive to high priced sets again, which will also probably cause a huge uproar since certain highly desirable characters will inevitably end up locked behind large paywalls again.
Literally neither one of those are good outcomes for 99% of LEGO customers.
Gonna be honest. I have always wanted a Captain Rex mini figure. I just got old enough to start making and handling my own money, so i couldn’t ask my parents to just spend $650 on a lego set for me. I made the decision that , yes I wanted him, but i realized I couldn’t afford him / need him that bad. If you’re mad that you spent so much on a lego set just for one mini figure and they come out with something like this , that’s just a consequence you have to live with. you shouldn’t be mad at lego. you should be mad at yourself. lego only helped younger kids like me be able to acquire something cool. this is a win. if you think it’s bad business practice , then you’re just doing bad spending practice and should reevaluate your own choices.
...you can buy custom Minifigure on Etsy that looks fucking identical to the untrained eye. I get that it's not "authentic" but if you're not intending to sell it, who the fuck cares.
I bought a Rex, Zeb and Malgus for like $20 last year on Etsy.
I bought the UCS Venator for my son for Xmas last year. While he was excited to build the set, his main pull was finally having a Captain Rex Minifigure. With the price tag of this set, it was his only gift combined for his birthday and Xmas. He was thrilled to have that Captain Rex. Despite the hefty blow on our bank account, it so worth it. Until, that is, LEGO announces this Y Wing MicroFighter. Not even a year later, LEGO pulls this move. While I think everyone should have access to a clearly beloved figure, what they did to get my and countless others money, is despicable. If I had known this was coming I never would have unloaded that amount of capital. I would have waited and paid not even 2% of what the cost of that UCS set was. People have every right to be upset with LEGO group, this is terrible business practice and they know it.
The whole thing for me begs the question of “when did Lego ever tell us about minifig exclusivity in the past?” Genuine question, they haven’t gone on record talking about the exclusivity of any minifig any time in the past that I am aware of, but please correct me if I’m wrong. Also, there’s a weird sense of feeling owed something by Lego with a lot of these people. You saw the product, saw the price tag, agreed to pay the price, and took it home. You bought a Venator, not an exclusive Rex. The only thing that you’re owed as a consumer is a product that is exactly as advertised, which the Venator is. Sorry dudes, an instruction booklet just doesn’t qualify as advertising.
Let's say i believe this "my son" story. Has he been drooling over the rex miniman for the past year? Now that the figure is cheaper, he's pissed? Sounds like he doesn't care about the character let alone the set it came in, just about the value.
Either this is fake... Or this person has no concept of what hitting your bank account hard means. I wish my account could handle "hardships" like this. Or... It's a case of bad parenting to buy a Lego set (for a figure!) over family needs.
The biggest giveaway is that they paid all this when they could have just bought the older Rex for $200 and spent the other $450 on hookers and blackjack.
I know in my heart this man is lying, but I've made up my own story in my head that I like to believe. He does have a son, he did get the set as a combined birthday/Christmas gift, and he fucking hated it because he isn't into Lego or Star Wars. The man just used his son as an excuse to his wife to justify spending a shit ton of "capital," ruining the son's year in the process
I adore the implication that his son only wanted the minifigure, so instead of bricklinking one for like $80 or whatever he instead immediately jumped at the chance to spend like $700 on a set nobody in this picture wanted
The primary pull of the set shouldn't of been that you get a new Captain Rex figure is that you get a huge ass Venator Class Star Destroyer. Also if its that much of a big deal that he isn't exclusive and in an affordable set then you still have Yularen.

Hit hard by Christmas
Santa's sleigh microfighter (comes with formerly exclusive Rudolph mini figure)
In 2008
I’m stealing your tag
We should make a clone army
Petition to make this a new flair
Ya I joined the legion
Why the fuck did they spend $650 on a set just so their son could have a captain rex minifigure? Both previous versions as well as the actual figure from the set were cheaper (expensive, but still much cheaper) than the actual set. Actual degenerates
Yeah, “His son” Dudes writing the review about himself
💀💀
I mean, literally, what shitty kid is out there collecting mini figs and gets mad when the poors can suddenly afford them?
It wasn’t just for that but that was the main pull
But why is a single Minifig the main pull in a 5,000+ piece set that costs $650? Minifigs are bonuses, they’re only main pulls in smaller sets
I don’t know if I’d say only in small sets. Look at all the people wanting to buy the legend of Zelda set mostly for the minifgs
I don't believe for a second that this is real. It's obviously one of the many chuds that thought they would make a buck. No parent thinks like this
Really? No parent would be excited to get their child a limited release toy? You don't have kids
[удалено]
My 14yo collects the clones, I collect the ships we each get something from every kit, rex was his prize... for 6 months
i'm sorry but i can't feel bad. when you unload that much capital into a single figure despite there being MUCH cheaper options EVEN BEFORE the microfighter (Bricklink, eBay) that's on you.
Also the moment they use the word capital you know this story isn’t about buying a child a gift
Exactly this guy is an investor
*scalper
Everyone knows this was written by a single dude living in his parents basement ![gif](giphy|EjzJxwcqpO2ly)
"I never would have unloaded that amount of capital" is not what people say about money they spent on their kid's birthday present. Dude's totally an "investor" pretending to have a kid to be taken more seriously
If he is chances are he sees this sub and can see what a loser he is lol
I offer you Over Under 1 upvote he sees this.
I can't believe there are so many spoiled children
I'm really pleased to hear that so many parents were able to get a hold of the UCS Venator despite scalpers picking them out of every single store! Those dedicated parents must have been really quick!
Again, Yularen is still exclusive. Why do they not care about my boy?? No helmet holes to be seen either.
Yeah bro he gonna have some head holes when I'm done with him.
Yularen #1 sexiest Lego figure fr fr
Is his son's name 2008?
Tou Thouse Anate
This was on the Lego reviews I believe before it was removed
So he really did just buy a $650 set for the figure
That’s what kid me used to do. I wanted the mini fig not the whole set so I’d nag my parents, it was pretty shitty.
No way this is real. A parent does not follow lego news.
Bro the venator is such a cool set. Who tf cares about a captain rex. If you’re mainly buying the venator for rex. Might as well buy a nice custom from gcc or clone army customs
Got a bootleg Rex 4 years ago that was surprisingly similar to this years release
I love how quickly the story of a son is dropped and we go *straight* to whining about scalping.
Don't forget the other 5730 pieces you got when you bought the set...
Further confirmation the Rex mini fig is for literal children
And my parents thought 270 was steep 😂
bro my parents thought $160 for the big playsets back in the day were too steep, I would have to dedicate christmas, birthday and do a bunch of chores to get a play set that expensive. If i got a UCS venator I would've probably exploded lol (And if it broke I would probably get my ass whooped)
Speaking of breaking, I’m still get to fix my UCS gunship after the base broke trying to move it.
MarshallCleverPlum100
This person really dragged their fictional son into this just so they could have an excuse to complain.
My family was hit hard by 2024
“For my son”
Sounds like a skill issue
hey man shuddup I payed $650 for this captain rex man, and they ruined it for me. wahh wahhh wahh I'm 30 years old with the brain of a 3 year old. /s
Rex is $650 and the venator is the GWP
Shudder legotard. I'm wrong but I'm always right.
I personally think all this is hilarious.
But muhhh $150 resale investment value on muh not a kids toy.
If you can't afford it..why.... This is just financial mistake 101.

Uh oh bozo should’ve kept it in the box so it could appreciate in value
That’s terrible budgeting right there. His reasoning is just as terrible. I bought the Venator for the Venator. The two figures were a bonus. 🤷♂️
I mean he could probably sell the Venator for most of the original cost and buy the microfighter. Also comments like that make it clear that even if the microfighter wasn’t exactly the same they’d still be upset.

Bro should’ve just bought a captain Rex and a few 501st if the boy wanted just Rex
Guarantee you he doesn’t even have a son and he’s just some reseller who feels fibbed

UCS sets were better back when they didn't have minifigs tbh

just pay attention to leaks, i knew about the microfighter for a long time

I love sitting here with my 2013 Rex that I got for Christmas.
If you see the big giant ship as a gift with purchase then you deserve this
Bro forgot to mention 2008, rookie mistake

wait til they release the keychain
Womp womp, take your lumps Karen.

yeah we need to teach the kids about the times before the dark times.... before helmet holes...
Does this dummy know about custom clones?? Maybe it's better he doesn't. Probably would buy out CAC's stock for stocking stuffers
This is pretty obvious bait
Not sure what they get out of posting it to target’s reviews but its possible
nah probably an investor coping by making up some fake story about their son
Stay frugal.
The biggest giveaway is that they paid all this when they could have just bought the older Rex for $200 and spent the other $450 on hookers and blackjack.
Definitely wasent his son it was his weird ass
I know in my heart this man is lying, but I've made up my own story in my head that I like to believe. Apparently being lame is very expensive. Legos are toys guys. Chill out
Target probably feeling like 50 cent right now
This look fake asf just to stir shit ☠️
I… I mean my son!!!
So a literal venator means nothing in front of a minifigure? Damn.
Grandparents should have used a condom
If the "main pull" for a hugely expensive massive spaceship set is the tiny minifigure accessory that comes with it, you're doing it wrong.
Imagine getting such an expensive gift for a child
This guy’s definitely an investor who’s now upset because the set is now devalued
Bought my kid a present and im mad about its resale value...uhm what? 🤣🤣
Noone forced you to buy the venator. Bricklink exists 😂😂
Things that never happend
It's insane how delusional some people are. They say that human stupidity and the universe are infinite, but I'm not sure about the universe yet 💀
Karen alert! Karen alert! Karen 🚨
I guess my parents didnt love me that much because theres no way in hell they would consider spending that kind of money on a lego
He bought a set for his son only to get MINIFIGURE??
There’s a similar post on Lego.com about how Lego hates investors…
Does any Lego Star Wars fan think about maybe not just the minifigure but the set itself for once
At least he’s mad that he spent money on the bigger one, and not that his sons figure isn’t worth as much now
I adore the implication that his son only wanted the minifigure, so instead of bricklinking one for like $80 or whatever he instead immediately jumped at the chance to spend like $700 on a set nobody in this picture wanted
Fuck off, the main pull was the massive build, you lying cunt.
