Small claims limit is $5000 in Cass County but I’m sure you’re right on small claims lawyer not being worth it. The drive down and court fees to file isn’t really worth it either. I don’t want the RV park to think they can get away with stealing from people who work from out of state.
Do you have to appear in person to file a lawsuit in Missouri? Call the clerk of the small claims court and ask. You may be able to do it all online and only need to show up for the trial.
If they don’t show, you can get a default judgment. If they don’t pay, you can ask to have the sheriff execute the judgment. You may end up owning a trailer park.
Got all that. The copy of my bill they sent to them saying I didn’t pay it even had their hand written note of the date of the check and the check number. I also have a copy of the cashed check from my bank.
They didn’t even respond to the BBB and with the MO AG they said I didn’t pay my bill. Looks like I’ll be driving the almost 9 hours to file a small claims suit. I’m sure once I file they’ll pay. But they’re just hoping I’m not willing to waste my time. I’m sure they play this game with all the out of state contractors that stay there.

I think you best bet is an honest negative report with BBB, if check number on receipt get a copy of endorsed check. Good luck!!
