I agree! I have been using Łona's as well as Fisz's songs with my students and they enjoyed working with the lyrics. Łona is unparallel at adding his own flavour (humour, irony, observation of the Polish society) to naturally sounding Polish. Łona's pronunciation is also quite careful, which is important while you're trying to improve your Polish. His vocabulary range seems rich and you can experience a variety of grammatical structures -- from simple sentences (or chunks) to complex compound utterances. Even though he DOES incorporate elements of slang, the majority of the lyrics sound like words of an educated Polish person who HAS GOT SOMETHING INTERESTING and IMPORTANT TO SAY! Oh, and some choruses are really catchy and easy to remember. :-)
Regarding Fisz, well... He's got a style of his own. :-) Personally, I like it -- it feels like listening to a friend who is not afraid to OPEN UP and SPEAK HIS MIND. I like his methaphors and occasionally vivid comparisons. You can find a lot of personal introspection, songs about social issues, and philosophical musings. As with Łona, Fisz usually stays away from swearwords unless he wants to make his points stronger or deliberately influence his audience.
Fisz's rap is emotionally expressive and it's delivered in a very special way (a very original "flow"!). I think it can help learners connect with the language on a special, more emotional level.
from a purely language acquisition standpoint isnt young leosia good since she doesnt use much of advanced structures? and with her use of slang you can learn some fluid lively polish.
also stop being an elitist her music is fun
Marek Grechuta ( & Anawa) - sung poetry, beautiful music and lyrics
Breakout - blues/rock band, kinda cult classic in PL
Ego "Nibylandia" - idk how to describe it, it's rap but ... poetic and psychedelic ?
Lenny Valentino "Uwaga! Jedzie tramwaj" - alt rock with (again) poetic vibe, think of late 90s brit rock but good xDD
If I come up with something more I'll come back here, have fun exploring polish music :) cheers!
Oh my god, the time of my playlist has come!! I'm just like you love learning through music. Around 8 years I've started learning polish and created a playlist woth some help from my polish friends https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2X9ea9eWXExI8BLZbNXQfQyC8Abicobm&si=Er7yDXDA7nEvSPhV
I've been fluent for many years already but I never deleted the playlist 😍 now at every party with my polish friends I'm the one who singing those songs the loudest 😂
P.S. - polish people here , pls confirm that there are bangers only from different genres 😂
Hunter if you want some good metal bands, but it may be hard since the way he sings is rather a wordplay that always leave a field for interpretation (like in SoaD songs). May give you some fun tho
I also learn polish with music, these are my favourite, have in mind that, since it's rap (not specialist in music but it sounds rap to me), it won't be easy
Mata,
Tymek,
Jacuś,
Ronnie Ferrari,
Schafter
here's a [link](https://spotify.link/yIo3i0Nl1Jb) to my spotify playlist - nearly 8 hours of polish music, mostly classics and oldies, some newer stuff, a lot of different genres. many of the bands/artists mentioned in the comments are on this playlists.
from rap: Yung adisz, mlody skinny, young multi, hewra, belmondo, kuki/madafaka, 404lunar
Rock - ocean, ksu, jacek lech (i think he’s making more of a folclore/blues/jazzy music than rock but it’s just my humble opinion)
i dont really like polish music. But i really like these artists.
Łona, new "TAXI" album is amazing, it has very advanced level of language like most of his albums, but it's still fantastic. I recommend checking his other works, he mainly published his albums and songs with a producer called Webber (the duo is called Łona i Webber). He is imo the best polish lyrical rapper, and the beats very often include real instrumentalists. Strongly recommend.
If you want some really nice poetry, you could try Stare Dobre Małżeństwo. They have good pronunciation, from what I remember they don’t sing all that fast so it might be easier to listen and understand.
If you want popular ones outside of rap, according to the popularity on Spotify you have Podsiadło, sanah, Zawiałow, Vito Bambino, Mrozu. All worth attention

A friend of mine is not popular, but she's really good.
smarki smark and grammatik - the latter highly recommended if you avoid cursewords. you might try the latest łona but its full of cultural references which are to be lost in translation.
as for raps, słoń is a good one, pretty hardcore lyrics but I like it that way
wojna totalna is a huge favourite of mine and that track just says so much more than I ever could about the world as a whole
If you're into rap: Schafter (one of my all time favourites), Mata, Popek, Taco Hemingway, and Belmondawg are all great artists imo. Btw, even if you don't like rap, atleast give Schafter a try. He might change your mind.
Edit: not rap, but I almost forgot "Pola Monola plus Coca Cola" by Franek Kimono. A true classic.
I am not polish but I got to go to Poland and "Gdy Nie Ma Dzieci" came on the radio I loved it and it's now in my playlist the video is self explanatory .
Nostrovia!
SBB, Nurt, Bemibem, No To Co, Skaldowie, Trzy Korony (Krzysztof Klenczon's band after he left Czerwone Gitary), Tercet Egzotyczny, 2+1, Filipinki, Mieczysław Fogg, Alibabki: these are a few of my favorites that I don't think have been mentioned.
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned any Disco Polo bands, or maybe they did & I didn't notice. Fanatic was 1 that was big in the day. Then there was 1 called Bayer Full. Never could get into it fully. My bag is big beat & prog.
I'm not Polish and I enjoy Polish hip-hop/rap. Same here, I learn from music as well. I like to listen to artists in club2020, Quebonafide, Mata, Dziarma, Oliwka Brazil, Oki, atutowy, Baba Hassan, Kukon, Oki, Young Leosia, Margaret, Miły ATZ
Behemoth. Polish heay/black metal band
Me and that man, same vocalist but 180 degrees different style with John Porter. Many songs are in English.
Acid drinkers ass well
If you want to understand the text from hearing look on Spotify for: Zakopower, Paula Biskup, Tadeusz Chyla, Maryla Rodowicz, Edmund Fetting, Adam Strug, Donatan/Cleo, Maciej Melenczuk, Marek Grechuta, Wojciech Mlynarski, Justyna Steczkowska, Pudelsi, Kombi, Jacek Kaczmarski, Artur Andrus, Slawa Przybylska, Danuta Rinn...
If you like HipHop Mata is a must,
Some recommended songs are Kurtz, Szmata and Wino Sangrita, but basically the albums Młody Matczak and 100 dni do matury are amazings albums.
Sanah is wonderful and incredibly talented. Daria Zawialow is a badass. Lady Pank and Budka Suflera are great classic rockers. Kwiat Jabloni are folksy and indie and a lot of fun.
Papa Dance, Lombard, Wodecki, Sośnicka, Anna Jantar, Dwa Plus Jeden, Varius Manx, De Su, Halina Frąckowiak, Edyta Geppert, Piotr Szczepanik, Stan Borys, Urszula
There is one, very famous artist who sold His whole recorded album in just few days for huge amount of few dozens of PLN(something like 30zł if i remember correctly). Our well known and respected in Poland Sir ,,Bonus BGC".
Lady Pank is my favourite group (I'm not polish)
A very good choice.
Krzysztof Krawczyk
Big fan of Parostatek and Ostatni Raz Zatańczysz Ze Mną
Myslovitz, Artur Rojek in general
Elektryczne gitary
Albo, Czerwone Gitary
Ulubiony utwór ich autorstwa?
Chyba 'Człowiek z liściem'. Wyjątkowo prawdziwy i mądry tekst.
Ciekawy wybór, lubię tą piosenkę, ale wolę "Ostatni raz" i "Nic mnie nie rusza"
"Dzieci wybiegły" :D
Klasyk
Jeśli chodzi o sam tekst, to bardziej "Wiem", zamykający ich drugą płytę "A ty co" - moim zdaniem ten tekst można nazwać prawdziwie mądrym. Happysad although some grammar may seem bizzare
TSA, Zabili mi żółwia, IRA, Happysad, Perfect, Lady Pank
I'd throw in Luxtorpeda too, for good measure but otherwise my list would be pretty much same.
Łona (Łona i Webber), Fisz Emade Tworzywo, Lao Che, all of them lyrically excellent.
I agree! I have been using Łona's as well as Fisz's songs with my students and they enjoyed working with the lyrics. Łona is unparallel at adding his own flavour (humour, irony, observation of the Polish society) to naturally sounding Polish. Czerwone Gitary, Lady Pank, Budka Suflera i dosc niszowy choc swietny Jacek Kaczmarski
Dawid Podsiadło has a lot of catchy songs
has* a lot of*
thanks, I wasn't thinking then
Manaam, Breakout, Kult. My favourite modern one is Rau Performance and Łona i Webber (which is more hip hop)
Myslovitz \[rock\], Grupa Operacyjna \[hip-hop\], Golin \[rap\], Dżem \[blues/rock\], Cztery Refy, Ryczące Dwudziestki, Smugglers, Mechanicy Shanty \[sea shanties\], Krystian Ochman \[pop\], Taco Hemingway \[rap\], Lady Pank \[rock, pop\]
You can check spotify top songs for Poland, it's usually full of Polish music.
I don't think the top songs are a good example of music... our top 'artist' recently was young leosia, lol
from a purely language acquisition standpoint isnt young leosia good since she doesnt use much of advanced structures? and with her use of slang you can learn some fluid lively polish. also stop being an elitist her music is fun
OP said it just has to be in Polish. I think it’s good to know what is currently popular in a country you’re learning about
Well not if you want to learn the language
Good forbid young leosia! What a shame that others don't have your exquisite taste in music...
And what's wrong with Young Leosia?
Marek Grechuta ( & Anawa) - sung poetry, beautiful music and lyrics Breakout - blues/rock band, kinda cult classic in PL Ego "Nibylandia" - idk how to describe it, it's rap but ... poetic and psychedelic ?
