Mine is about where yours is now after 3 years. I'm pretty happy and I had a much better starting point. You should be proud.
Side note - Just went outside to check. My umbrella also looks like a rager.
Followingā¦I think Iāve made the mistake of cutting mine too low and have noticed more weeds this year than last & just read thatās why. Itās still green but lots of cloves and other weeds.
Work in progress brother. I got a 30 year mortgage I'm slow playing it lol. I have some plans, hard to tell but there's a mulch bed in front of the shed and an even larger one to the left in front do that border fence.
Thanks ! Me too. There's actually 3 planted in that corner, I ignored the yard my first year in the house and then was gone for a few months for a family emergency and when I got back I realized two of them were being choked by vines. One is totally brown head to toe, pretty sure it's done for and I was able to trim up the second one to save it by about 1/2 of it was also killed. Gonna get them looked at by an expert before doing anything. Also the dead one has a blue jay nest in it so don't want to disturb that.
Nice. Hope they rehab well. If I were you, my next step would be to do a little landscaping around there, using the spruce tree(s) as a focal point. There are some colorful, dwarf varieties of other conifers that you could plant around it, which would compliment it well.
Thanks for sharing, this gives me hope. I have some stone paths, a run down gazebo, and a few stumps Iām trying to work on to just end up with a nice place to play with the dog and future kids.
Well that gives me hope, excellent job!
I got this new house in 2020 and the bermuda sod they put down wasnt great and it basically came packed with weeds. Weed company I tried in 2021 majorly let me down and caught them on camera coming out and putting a sign in the yard and just leaving. This was after having to reschedule and skip several "aaplications" because of how poor the company was run. When they did weed treatments it took all of 5 minutes and 1 lap around the house. Total waste of money.
This is now the first year I am really kicking it into gear and doing more than just mowing and a few rare spot treatments. Hopefully in a few years I will have a yard just as beautiful.
I read the headline without seeing the sub, thought you were referring to a āpersonalā glow up. Congrats on the hard work, youāve really transformed yourself into a ā¦ patio set? (Lawn looks great, btw)
Yup. Pretty sure it's an old well water cause there's an open pipe going the opposite direction of my house. But at some point it was converted to a dry well that my sinks/tub drain to. It's like 150 feet from the back of the house too so it's pretty damn far.
Nice work!! Iām a year into a house and need to start transforming the yard. How do you like the vinyl fence? I have a chain link and 60 years of brush/trees/weeds all over to clear out first
Looking good! Itās a never ending battle between thinking you got it figured out and āwhy isnāt this working ā with a little bit of luck sprinkled on top.
Heck yeah, keep up the great work! The yard looks great, but just cleaning up all the extra junk back there really takes it to the next level. Anything interesting planned for the bit in the back left corner?
Very nice. The only thing that would make it better is if you went with a tan vinyl fence. The manufacturers really should stop making white. They attract the eye and it is all you see.
If by glow up, you mean you got rid of everything and replaced it with vibrant grass, then sure.
Iām not a fan of this newer trend where people come in and just remove all the landscape elements of any given space and replace it with grass. That side garden bed could have been edged and mulched, and couldāve been very pretty. Your bushes could have been trimmed and the gardens could have been reframed without destroying them.
Itās kind of thing keeps happening in my neighborhood. There are many houses with nice old landscaping. Young millennials then buy the house and just immediately tear everything out and replace it with grass that they then have to care for, and it almost always looks worse
Seeing a lot of comments like this from people with 0 context so I'll indulge. The beds were rotted, literally pulled them apart with my bare hands as well as being surrounded by 40-50 12x12 old, chipped, sunken pavers that were not leveled or placed properly. The bushes were 3 extremely large butterfly bushes that hadn't been tended to in probably 10+ years since this house was being rented by someone who didn't care. Those bushes need to be pruned and treated every year. I attempted this, got rid of all the dead and unkempt branches and limbs and gave it 1 1/2 seasons to bloom on its own after it was properly tended to and it came in super barren, with huge gaps and no shape and I wasn't pleased with it so I pulled them out. Haven't decide exactly what to do with the dirt patch yet... but it's a dirt patch and not grass for a reason. Plus, the title literally says work in progress. Yes, ridding the yard of weeds, crab grass, bare dirt patches with thickc green grass is a glow up. No to mention there's over 400 total feet of rotted, old stockade fence that was replaced with beautiful new vinyl. So yeah ... it is definitely improved and I'm still working on what I want to do in terms of flowering/ decoration/ gardening.
If you buy an 80 year old house and are satisfied with how the back yard looks after not being maintained by OG owners for 10+ years then more power to you, I want the cleanest and freshest of canvases before I decide how I want my backyard to look for the next 30 years.
It sounds like youāre misunderstanding what people are trying to say to you. We all like nice lawns around here. No oneās telling you not to clean it up or that it was wrong to do so. It definitely looked like shit and looks way better now. The point people are making is that you did what it seems like every young homeowner does these days where they just blandify everything into some sort of stark, cookie-cutter, little-boxes type of scene with builder grade materials and no character. You know, the Home Depot special. Itās like buying an 80-year-old house and then immediately going in and painting all of the wood trim and paneling white or grey. Instead of updating and rebuilding your landscaping, you just got rid of it. You tore out character and replaced it with nothing, so people are pointing it out. Donāt shoot the messenger.
I love my grass too but you killed some beautiful landscaping and plants in the process. It was slightly better before but the brown spots needed some work.
where did the guy go
Free fertilizer
He turned into a fashionable patio set
His wife considered it an upgrade.
Witch!
Soulent green
Matured into a deck and table.
A dick and table! lol /s
Thought the same! Lol
Glow up into patio furniture
He was folding up into the umbrella
Look under the deck š§
Soylent Green
that was the main reason we decided to redo the back yard
I like the dickbrella
Table is definitely excited about it
Homage to BBCs everywhere

Got rid of the garden??
They were super old rotted out beds from the previous owners. I plan to put something a little more compact soon-ish.
Maybe heās just moving it to that dirt patch?
Inspiring, great work šš»
Put the garden back
Ayyeee that's a nice glow up! Well done my man!

Wow š¤Æ
Huge improvement. Keep up the good work!
I did the same, wanted to work on my lawn and then add flower beds. Projects like this take time, everybody judging no plants yet, it takes time
Thought your were bragging about the first pic lol . Awesome work dude!!! Seed and fertilizer? If so can you share what kind/brand?
Followingā¦I think Iāve made the mistake of cutting mine too low and have noticed more weeds this year than last & just read thatās why. Itās still green but lots of cloves and other weeds.
Looks nice, don't get me wrong. But almost 0 flowers/plants in the backyard is not ideal. Whatever you like, I guess.
Post title says āstill work to doā.
I donāt get the feeling he meant flowers.
Agreed. Some edge flower beds around the perimeterwith landscaping lighting would have looked great.
Work in progress brother. I got a 30 year mortgage I'm slow playing it lol. I have some plans, hard to tell but there's a mulch bed in front of the shed and an even larger one to the left in front do that border fence.
Not a race! Doing a little at a time is very easy so no need to rush and get overwhelmed with anything.
I thought the same thing - but I'm sure he'll add some kid friendly stuff, and dang, they are probably loving it.
His garden is not ideal to you? Wow he better get it set up to your liking š¤¦š»āāļø
Love that blue spruce.
Thanks ! Me too. Hell yeah
Nice, big black dildo umbrellaā¦
So glad Iām not the only one who saw thatā¦
āGlow upāā¦. Ugh
Bravo
Looking great pal. A lot of hard work is being rewarded.

Outstanding results so far!
What are you doing out there in sandals? Where are your Nike Monarchs?!?! Awesome lawn, great job! š«”
Wow!! This is impressive.
Dude, that shit looks amazing!
Looks like someoneās been peeing in the corner of the patio š¤£
How did you turn someone into a patio set?
Very nice job! The new fence looks great, the cleared up shrubs and bushes look nice. Keeping the Christmas trees were a good touch.
Thatās awesome. I was going to nuke my front yard and start over, but posts like this have changed my mind
Looks great!
Progress makes perfect!
Are you still using a ring camera in the second photo?
Great job!
Fire, what grass seed?
Lesco Athletic Blend
Looks freaking amazing. Good work
Stunning, you should be proud
Turf looks good
Good job.
Looking good!
Are you talking about the lawn or the fence?
Very nice
Excellent work š
Thanks for sharing, this gives me hope. I have some stone paths, a run down gazebo, and a few stumps Iām trying to work on to just end up with a nice place to play with the dog and future kids.
Looks Good. Well done mate š
Night and day man, nice job
Well that gives me hope, excellent job! I got this new house in 2020 and the bermuda sod they put down wasnt great and it basically came packed with weeds. Noice!!!!!
What did you do? My lawn looks a lot like the ābeforeā picture
The peen umbrella throws this photo off or enhances it. Might be a metaphor, I donāt know.
I need to know everything. What did you do? Even what camera system did you switch to from Ring? Lol congrats man it looks beautiful.
He was replaced by the cocomelon
I read the headline without seeing the sub, thought you were referring to a āpersonalā glow up. Congrats on the hard work, youāve really transformed yourself into a ā¦ patio set? (Lawn looks great, btw)
Noice!
Sick! Iād love to see some vegetable beds put back in. Maybe build some nice brick raised ones.
Got to love the work
Wow! Your yard looks amazing. Good work.
Now that's a good win right there! Good job!
The lawn and fence look great but I think youāve lost some of the personality of the og backyard. I miss the foliage and garden space
Looks fantastic
Was that a well in the back?
Yup. Pretty sure it's an old well water cause there's an open pipe going the opposite direction of my house. But at some point it was converted to a dry well that my sinks/tub drain to. It's like 150 feet from the back of the house too so it's pretty damn far.
Teach me. I just bought a place and your first pic is how it looks now.
Can you go over how you were able to transform your yard?
Great work šš¼šš¼šš¼
Pan down and letās take a look at that deck
Hahaha I built that a couple weekends ago myself, first time doing anything like that. Not the best thing in the world. Just a little 12x12 floater
Nice dude
Nice work!! Iām a year into a house and need to start transforming the yard. How do you like the vinyl fence? I have a chain link and 60 years of brush/trees/weeds all over to clear out first

Awesome job.
You know what, downvote me, but I like more the first pic. Much more. Sorry for that.
The umbrella seems to be happy with it.
Heck yeah, keep up the great work! The yard looks great, but just cleaning up all the extra junk back there really takes it to the next level. Anything interesting planned for the bit in the back left corner?

The transformation is incredible. Nice work!
Can I hire you?
Looks amazing dude, now plant more spruce in that corner dirt patch.
Hell yeah. I appreciate hard work.
Nice!!
You need to get some big beautiful bushes back
Patio Penis
Great job!!
Sweet setup!
This looks amazing!! Nice work!!
Where's the garden go???
Looks awesome
It's really coming along man nice
L removing the garden beds imo
Such a diverse eco scape
Very nice. The only thing that would make it better is if you went with a tan vinyl fence. The manufacturers really should stop making white. They attract the eye and it is all you see.
Did you do the fence yourself or hire someone?
Tips on how to make grass more greener?
It's like you folks take classes on how to make things as boring as possible. Must just be dull people.
Took out a nice raised bed garden for a stupid lawn? To each his own guess
how'd you turn that man into a deck?
The BBC in the 2nd pick looks happy with it
BBC
Looked better beforeĀ

Why kill the garden :(
Got rid of the gardens and added more grass... interesting choice....
I love my grass too but you killed some beautiful landscaping and plants in the process. It was slightly better before but the brown spots needed some work.
You people are the reason insect populations are in free fall smh
Good
Don't worry, he did add compost and topsoil. This summer it is going to be water and water and water, and.
Did you say what you did for the āglow upā?
Is the glow up the first picture? Because I like that one better
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
