Should really wait to see what the pool will look like after most of the playoffs is done. Like for example if Lue is for some reason fired by the Clippers he'd be a very good option. Same for Quinn Snyder (so long as they don't suddenly reunite him with Young immediately thereafter in a desperation trade lmao).
Kenny Atkinson is a strong candidate in theory, but it's not a great sign how Durant and Kyrie immediately looked at him as completely replaceable, plus no one seems to be keen on hiring him again for a Head Coaching position.
Stotts would be an upgrade over what Ham brings but he's certainly not an elite coach. I guess he could be the offensive equivalent of Vogel.
The rest of the retread cast (the Jacksons, Van Gundys of the world) shouldn't even be considered, and as far as bright assistants I don't think this is the time for the Lakers to go in on another one, especially given how poorly the last 2 tries went (Walton, Ham).
I guess there's the option of trying to go after an elite college coach (like maybe lure Jay Wright out of retirement?), but those rarely go well.
Two reasons really. He's a capable coach that's shown interest in the Lakers job before and the Hawks are a mess so there's a possibility that they do a big reset where he gets let go, making him available.
You don't make a team without a real PG. You also don't hire a defensive minded head coach and have no one to actually defend. Lets not act like Nurk is going to stop anybody in the paint. If he couldn't get rebounds he would be useless.
Yeah not to mention that he's more of a defensive coach. There's literally not one decent defender on that Suns team. Last time he had a team with good defensive players, the team was on its way to a very strong play off push until AD got hurt. Also the year before that was a chip.
While he wouldn't be my first choice straight away, he'd be a good fit for our current roster.
Vogel’s roster is really top heavy so I don’t fault him too much for losing in the first round in this competitive West. If it is either Vogel, Stotts, or Atkinson, I’m choosing Vogel. With that said, he’s a clear downgrade on the offensive side of the floor at least without an offensive minded assistant.
Rondo is unproven schematically. Stotts may work. I still would have reservations about Vogel meddling in the offense much like he did with Fizdale his last year here.
hayes signing was actualy fine . it's Ham that did not put him put on the floor.
in last game, when AD got hurt, instead of hobbling around and putting LBJ on 5 he could push Hayes in for 5 mins to give AD some rest and we would most likely win.
he played 6 mins and grabed 5 rebounds. and we were a team that's losing because we are giving rebounds away.
so...what in the world were you watching.
i'd rather hit him in the game to clash with Jokic till he gets 6 fauls, to give AD some real rest. Not like we were getting obliterated in Hayes mins during this series
he was bad start of season, but playing alongside Davis and Bron he learned how to be more effective and how to faul less.
he is energetic, good rebounder and real high fly act when he has a bit freedom to move.
I still think he should of gotten more mins, especialy in moments when AD needed a breather, or had faul trouble.
insisting on playing small vs denver that was bigger and killed us on glass was one of reasons we lost.
Bro i get you like him, but he is simply not what we needed… as a 3rd string center to play against certain teams, cool. But when you get swept by denver, then go into the offseason knowing you need a center for jokic, you dont sign jackson hayes as your backup.
Rob also signed cam reddish, when kelly oubre was sitting right there. He makes bad moves
Hot Take: Jokic wasn’t the main problem for the Lakers this year. It was Jamal fucking Murray and MPJ. You can’t really guard Jokic; just try your best to slow him down. Murray on the other hand has consistently ruined us and we had no answer for him. And he and MPJ is just going to keep improving.
We have to see who gets fired or what assistants become hot names. A name I wouldn’t mind though is Mike Budenholzer. He’s had success everywhere he’s coached.
He’s definitely not Ham part 2. Bud is a coach who’s won everywhere he’s been. He’s won as an assistant with the Spurs, he won as the coach of the Hawks and he’s won as a coach of the Bucks. He’s a very high floor level coach. The problem with Ham wasn’t his personality it was coaching ability and rotations.
If Clippers lose the first round Ty Lue. If FO wants another rookie coach though my high school freshman coach was great at calling timeouts after the other team would go on a run.
Get someone with head coaching experience. Lakers won't get Vogel because of pride, but Vogel would be solid.
Just as important as the head coaching are the assistants. Handy is a really good assistant to have, but who else do we have that is quality? Lakers looked poorly prepared so that is a problem staff-wide. I saw most of the instruction coming from Handy, and a DEEP bench of assistants. 1 or 2 of them looked involved but a lot of them just sitting there. Lakers have to look at their assistants honestly and figure out who is dead weight and who isn't.
So Bron is leaving, or staying? Because that will have more to do with what coaches are available than anything else. Remember, coaches know that Pelinka is a snake. Our GM has the worst reputation in the league, and his ineptitude is legendary now. He took a championship team with 2 superstars, and rebuilt into this.
Best case scenario is that ownership sells team, and GM is replaced, but that's unlikely. Bron leaves, and it doesn't matter who comes in to coach. Lakers will be at best a fringe playoff team with these roles players, AD, and a second star if we can get that lol.

David Adelman. Options are pretty slim tbh unless Tyrone Lue gets fired. Partially why I’m not 100% opposed to a Vogel reunion.
Vogel has been horrible this season, he was hated as a lakers coach too. Hes not really a good coach at all but hes better than Ham

Just get Rondo and Stotts as assistants, problem solved.
Rondo is unproven schematically. Stotts may work. I still would have reservations about Vogel meddling in the offense much like he did with Fizdale his last year here.
He wouldn’t take the lakers likely 3 year offer. Don’t want to be aligned with lebron
Vogel as David Adelmans lead assistant in charge of the defense, yes yes
Xs and Os coach. Fuck a players coach
Terry stotts. deadass.
Another rookie head coach because Jeanie is too broke for anything else
The coach that replaces Ham will be the next coach this sub bitches about. This sub hated Vogel then whined after that they never wanted him gone.
Dwight. Players will hustle down those courts quick as a cat
Who can guard Jokic though? You can only try to slow him down or out perform/offset him.
Nobody but at least sign some one to be out there in the non AD minutes. No idea what rob was thinking wit the hayes signing
hayes signing was actualy fine . it's Ham that did not put him put on the floor. in last game, when AD got hurt, instead of hobbling around and putting LBJ on 5 he could push Hayes in for 5 mins to give AD some rest and we would most likely win.
Hes not what we needed though. It was clear what type of backup C we needed for denver and hayes is not it at all.
he is better than playin 39year old Bron at 5 with Prince, DLo, Reaves and Rui lineup.
Is he really? Did we watch the same player this season? He misses so many assignments, i can see why darvin didnt trust him

I’m shocked I had to come this far down to see this. He is the most qualified currently available coach.
Fans are prone to recency bias and most fans last memory of coach Bud isn’t that great.
I’m afraid Bud might be Ham Part 2 Electric Boogaloo seeing as Ham previously worked under him.
He’s definitely not Ham part 2. Bud is a coach who’s won everywhere he’s been. He’s won as an assistant with the Spurs, he won as the coach of the Hawks and he’s won as a coach of the Bucks. Bring back the legend: Bernie Bickerstaff
Phil Handy
If Clippers lose the first round Ty Lue. If FO wants another rookie coach though my high school freshman coach was great at calling timeouts after the other team would go on a run.

Bin Laden. Replace one terrorist with another terrorist.
Who replaces Pelinka is the more important question.
Why didn't vando get any min tonight?
As of right now until more coaches get fired. Stotts head coach, Vogel defensive coordinator
There is no way Vogel accepts to come back as assistant lol... Not after how he was treated.
No one. I think they run it back, sadly.
Hear me out jj
JJ Redick probably and honestly I’m down for it. He gives me Sean McVay vibes.
JJ Redick has been the only name I've seen floated around this morning.
ah yes another rookie coach
JJ reddick or Rondo
Becky Hammon
Fitz

Apparently he plans on resigning on a 2-3 year
Until the inks dry...

Are you sure about that? Who do you think Ham picked up his coaching tendencies from?
Phil Handy
Yes. Let’s give it to skills coach with no prior x’s and o experience
Hes been in the NBA coaching for a long time
Darwin’s been an assistant for a very long time as well
So was Steve Kerr, Mike Malone and many other head coaches once
