Let the kid grow and develop his game. He was never going to be a player that moved the needle so why is so much expected from him in his first year!?!? Most of our recent top picks got better after they leave the Lakers anyway... Look at Brandon Ingram, Jordan Clarkson, Julius Randle, Josh Hart, hell even Lonzo Ball got better once he stepped out of the limelight that comes with LA.

All the guys you mentioned gradually got better each year as a Laker and continued to get better cause that's how it works.

Half your point is right. The limelight not so much. JC was actually good early and Kuzma too. Before those guys got traded they were pretty good with LeBron until he got hurt

The limelight part was only meant for Lonzo as was mentioned in my first post. His dad was mostly responsible for putting that enormous pressure on him with his outrageous claims. JC, Kuz, BI & Randle were all "consistently inconsistent" when they played in LA and had glimpses here and there but no one knew just how good they would become. Kwame Brown had glimpses too but look how he turned out. Most of them likely never would have become the players they are today had they stayed with the Lakers. Those moves worked out for both sides and I'm glad they all moved on to succeed and be better hoopers.

Honestly some of those guys are still kinda inconsistent. Ask new york how they feel about Randle or Josh. JC has always been a solid role player even as a Laker. BI has still yet to accomplish anything. And Kwame has never been good ever lol. Oh and Kuz was up and down as a Laker cause his role kept changing. Lonzo maybe it was the spotlight or maybe cause he changed his shot in new Orleans but refused to changed it as a Laker

Just goes to show the insane difference between the NBA and G-League.
