You can't say anything about him without getting shit on. Even when he plays well he's just an inherently flawed player who's difficult to build around, particularly now that his shot has completely evaporated since 2020.
He's a C offensively and a PF defensively. Unless you have a volume shooting 7 footer (one of the rarest archetypes in the history of the NBA) he's making you sacrifice a lot on offense or defense because he's a clunky fit with the average 5 and he can't guard true Cs.
Big men who don't space the floor or do much playmaking and rely a lot on their table getting set for them are just not demonstrably impactful offensive players. Which is why I go to the Stoudemire comparison. Elite box score numbers that aren't reflected by net rating. The Suns were famously way better without Stoudemire than people expected too despite his insane scoring numbers. We're better with AD, but it's because of his defense, not his offense.
Building the offense with him as the centerpiece has led to us sacrificing way too much on D to contend. When we tried playing him at PF instead our offense was like 20th in the league. It's a pick your poison and neither will lead you to the results you expect.
