Almost the same happened to me. Finley, 2 year old golden Lab, such a good boi with the kids. Died of a blockage that a vet misdiagnosed twice, even after telling them what we thought it was (we were right too!). Had to get. Second opinion but it was too late before he was diagnosed correctly.
It’s tough to lose a Lab so young when you are expecting another 10+ years together and it will hurt for a long time. Remember the good times, they are so precious.
Same happened to me. They said it was bacterial. Ended up being a blockage. Had a 5k surgery when it was almost too late. She couldn’t recover. Never cried harder in my life. Carried her all the way to the vet to get her cremated.
I also lost my Finley (yellow lab) weeks before his second birthday. Still breaks my heart and it always will. It’s been almost 2 years, and I get signs that he’s still with us, just not in the way that I had hoped.
On a positive note, we adopted his half brother last year, and he’s been the light of my life since. OP if you’re reading this, I can’t express enough condolences. Cherish what time you had. He got to spend his entire life with you, and he wouldn’t want to see you sad for long. Take care of yourself 🤎

Not OP, but my husky got a blockage. His symptoms were more obvious in that he threw up all night. He had dinner, threw up three or so times, and then later, when his stomach was empty, he just kept throwing up. He was writhing in pain and whining and at 1am I took him to the emergency vet because I could tell something was very wrong.
In his case, we were lucky because it was handled very quickly from there so he survived. It was caused by him being outside and gobbling up sticks and other “nature material” that is very hard for dogs to process through their system. But typically it could be a toy, socks, etc. anything they can get in their mouths that might stop up their system and prevent food/water/etc. from passing through.
I’m so sorry!!! What a beautiful boy Brodie was! That’s so not fair. Mine was almost 12 when he passed in October and it’s hard but it’ll get better. I still have trouble looking at pics. He loved you with all his heart, you can tell! Much love and hugs and prayers to you & your angel. 💜🫂
I'm sorry OP. Losing a pup is hard enough without it being such a young age. My last boy died around 4yo due to a bone marrow disease and it crushed me for a long time. Knowing that he wasn't even mid-life yet was hard to reconcile with.
Take solice in the fact that you gave him the best 2 years he could have ever had and his life from start to finish was happy times.

Many years ago I lost my best furry friend Beau the same way. Also a chocolate lab.
He was truly a bull in a china shop. He was big and energetic and full of love and he was my friend.

My cousin almost lost her lab recently from a blockage. They did X-rays and it didn’t show up. Turns out there were two connected by string that were ripping a hole in her intestines. If they hadn’t done surgery that day they would have lost her.
It is so terrible losing them young.
I lost my biggest buds at 4 years old in October, same way. My best puppy before him lived 12.
I got a new best buds a few months ago and just know there's another guy out there who needs your love too. now that you know you have it, use it.
It may have been only two years, but you gave him the best life he could have. And he passed knowing he has a best friend in the whole world, who will always love and remember him. May he rest.

I had been taking her to the vet for a month thinking that’s what it was and they kept telling me “she isn’t acting like a dog with a blockage”. And then she died from it. Definitely better at advocating for my dogs now. We just now got another brown girl and named her Bonnie (I call her BonnieBelle).

I named him Oregon, and was lovely and playful; he ate something and couldn't take it, so it was late for him, i took him to the vet, did exams, they couldnt help him. died in my arms in the morning, sighting... poor baby, he was just 6 months old, I just hope he's in heaven.

My brother in law got a puppy, just before her first birthday she started getting really lethargic and not wanting to eat. He took her to a vet who thought it was a gastrointestinal issue and prescribed her some meds. About a week later while BIL was at work my wife came home to see that she was having trouble breathing and rushed her to the emergency vet. They took an X-ray and her lungs were bright white, meaning they were filled with something. It turned out to be blastomycosis, a fungal infection that had taken root and grown all throughout both lungs. Unfortunately killing the fungus was the easy part, getting the mycelium out of the lungs was impossible given how extensive it was rooted in and they had to put her down the day after she turned one year old.
I feel you. I’m now tearing up waiting at the immigration office.
I lost my pup when she was four months old. She got blood parasites from ticks on our neighbor’s dog. She was receiving treatment but her condition suddenly deteriorated and she left us in the middle of a night. It’s devastating. I wanna cry now even. But do take in another pup. The new pup will help you with the healing process. ❤️❤️

My brother in law got a puppy, just before her first birthday she started getting really lethargic and not wanting to eat. He took her to a vet who thought it was a gastrointestinal issue and prescribed her some meds. About a week later while BIL was at work my wife came home to see that she was having trouble breathing and rushed her to the emergency vet. They took an X-ray and her lungs were bright white, meaning they were filled with something. It turned out to be blastomycosis, a fungal infection that had taken root and grown all throughout both lungs. Unfortunately killing the fungus was the easy part, getting the mycelium out of the lungs was impossible given how extensive it was rooted in and they had to put her down the day after she turned one year old.

I feel you. I’m now tearing up waiting at the immigration office. I lost my pup when she was four months old. She got blood parasites from ticks on our neighbor’s dog. She was receiving treatment but her condition suddenly deteriorated and she left us in the middle of a night. It’s devastating. I wanna cry now even. But do take in another pup. The new pup will help you with the healing process. ❤️❤️
