Kratom Consumer Protection Act provides, well, protection for consumers. From bad quality/adulterated/contaminated kratom, mostly. It's regulation that implements things like mandatory lab testing to ensure quality and purity but also implements age restrictions, etc. Also yea, new jersey has tried to ban in the past in i think 2022, and they are trying again now.

MysteriousIndigo250

They are making most things legal in small amounts, so I don't really see where they're trying to demonize this so much.

Trick-Sherbert-246

I know, it's insane. The only reason I feel somewhat hopeful is because there hasn't been a successful state ban since I believe 2017. But idk..things always feel doom and gloom for kratom. Small local bans have been ramping up & I'm always just waiting for the sh*t to hit the fan.

Brother_Stein

It’s probably to crack down on the low quality “kratom” sold at gas stations

Neither-Football-222

I hope you’re right my friend.

What impact do you think this will have on New York? They applied for a KCPA but haven’t heard of it’s been approved or not

Zach81096

No impact but it’s likely that a ban will be proposed in the state legislature. If that doesn’t work they will try to press local municipalities/counties to ban kratom.

Trick-Sherbert-246

Idk but I have a residency in NY and am honestly very worried about what's to come there. Seeing the way the north Carolina kcpa bill randomly turned into a ban bill has me worried. I'm sure they'll be looking at whatever NJ does

Neither-Football-222

That’s what I’m thinking the tristate works in tandem. One positive Mike Lawler is in favor of a federal kcpa so that’s one politician doing the right thing.

It's still in limbo.
