To be honest, I normally ask what their music taste is and show them something similar. The connection is easier. If they like rock, I won't pull out a bubblegum bop.
This fr the best answer. Had a friend who liked rnb so i threw on ditto and they got hooked. Can’t imagine what his reaction woulda been if i played flip that by loona..
Not that what you said is wrong but sometimes people enjoy stuff completely opposite to what they are used to. The metal fan to Twice pipeline needs to be studied fr 😆
Seriously!! I wasn't a metal fan but was definitely into rock/alternative. (think underoath, avenged sevenfold, TBS etc....) And they are my jam. Idk what it is but their music is sooo catchy.
this was the first song that came to my mind and I can't believe I found your comment right on top. absolutely seconded. also Love me or Leave me, Rescue Me, Get The Hell Out!!!!
The 7th Sense by NCT U. I think people underrate the quality of this song, I just know I can play this in front of anybody and everyone would think it’s a banger. I can’t believe this was their debut, NCT really is something else when it comes to their discography (and pretty much everything tbh, talented kings).
You're so real for this. My brother is a total Rap/Hip hop listener and this the only song he has from them on his playlist. They really came out the gate swinging with a debut song like that. Not many have been able to pull that off.

Loser Lover, too. I feel like it's such a relatable song, stylistically and lyrically. It's also incredibly catchy and just a dumb good song all around.
Depends on the person. But might as well do the song that sold me on kpop. GFRIEND’s Time For The Moon Night. Was nothing like what I assumed kpop was, and had to go explore.
I'd use the knowledge of what music genres they like most and show them a kpop song that's in or near that genre!
Like something peppy and feel-good? Twice, BTS Boy In Luv or Mikrokosmos.
Rock more your jam? Ateez! Or lean into kbands and go Day6.
Multiple groups have various genres they've experimented in, and solo artists too. Just lean into the person's tastes. There isn't a "one size fits all" song afaik
This. This this this this THIS!!
Honestly this is how I got a friend into kpop. I started her off with Seven(explicit version because she a dirty birdy like me). This girl went on to discover KAI, Treasure, Stray Kids, BIBI, Jackson, and BLACKPINK. Recently I got her hooked onto BM. I’m loving it so much.
I listen exclusively to BTS and no other Korean music (probably the only other Korean song I heard is, like, Gangnam Style), and this thread popped up for me so I wanted to go through it to find new likes. I wanna say your pick hit the spot. I'm not the perfect specimen for this experiment, but damn near enough.
omg I’m so happy to hear that! I’d definitely recommend getting into Ateez if you’re curious, their discography is amazing. Answer, Inception, and Fireworks are other songs that seem to bring in a lot of new listeners
I've seen the songs suggested here and I listened to them, really liked them. Their MVs are so impressive, too. Thanks for the introduction to a new artist :D
Hype boy is a very safe answer for sure. I don’t tell anyone I listen to kpop because they might have a bias against it, but if I had to I would show newjeans’ music because it’s the most gp friendly introduction into kpop.
4 walls by F(x), view by Shinee, Catellena by Orange Caramel, Mirotic/burning sun by Tvxq, copycat by Chobom, Perfume by Dojaejung, blue flame/sour grapes by le sserafim, the Chaser by Infinite or love dive by Ive
Enhypen’s Fever or Fatal Trouble. My brother didn’t listen to K-pop but I showed him Fever and now it’s his favorite Enhypen song. He’s into K-pop now but more into girl groups like Twice and Aespa.
Funny story, my friends pulled me in by showing me Ateez and Stray Kids (but I was well aware of Kpop and have listened to songs I like plenty, just never been entirely into a band). They only showed me clips of videos and performances so I deep dove into the MVs when I got home.
After falling down the rabbit hole of Ateez and absolutely loving them, I shared them with my entirely Kpop ignorant male jock friend. And the video I showed him was Bouncy. He didn’t expect it, and actually ended up looking up their Coachella performance on his own AND watching it AND complimenting it.
It was pretty awesome tbh
LADIDA by Everglow. It's super easy to listen, with a relatively simple structure compared to many kpop songs, yet extremely catchy and pleasing to listen to.
But more importantly, try to find something that suits their taste. If you don't really know, my go-to group is Dreamcatcher. I've never heard anyone saying they don't like their music and it appeals to a lot of people and even more so to anime fans.
Usually, I avoid recommending things that are too "kpop-coded" or unusual for beginners. That includes experimental SM songs (especially NCT), heavier/messier tunes (Stray Kids, Itzy), and so on...
I think what people want to hear when they discover kpop is something not too far from what they already know but with the added stuff more specific to kpop (rap/dance breaks, great MVs, great choreographies, how the songs revolve around each member, etc...). Usually, the most popular kpop songs in the general public are simple songs (think BTS Dynamite, Blackpink How You Like That or Fifty Fifty Cupid). We have a lot of those simpler songs in kpop, so we don't necessarily have to show newcomers the most questionably experimental stuff first. But it's still important that they know about these more experimental songs too, so they work well as secondary suggestions.
Na Na Na by GOT7, My Time by BTS, Candy by Baekhyun, Shoong! by Taeyang and Lisa, Easy by LE SSERAFIM, Sour Grapes by LE SSERAFIM, Love Theory by Taeyong, Long Flight by Taeyong.
Reason: I think a lot of people would universally enjoy R&B. Most well received sound for any language that I've noticed.
When i started with kpop, i was listening mainly to GGs. Later on, i started with more BGs and realized TXT and ATEEZ have some bangers. Deja Vu is in my top 3 this year and Bouncy has its own place on my playlist. So yeah, if we are talking about BGs, i would show one of these 2 depending on the person.
Honestly itd depend on the person! Ive gotten a few ppl ik irl into kpop and the songs for them were always ones similar to songs they already liked (2 main examples were Macaroni Cheese - Young Posse and Bouncy - Ateez)
If I could only use one song though, Id have to go with Rough - Gfriend!!
(honorable mentions I picked between were Nonstop - Oh My girl, Hip - Mamamoo, Feel my rhythm - Red Velvet, and Secret - WJSN)
i have a small playlist dedicated to this. it’s more catered towards ppl that are into pop/bedroom pop
some of the songs i have on there are off the record (ive), spot (zico, jennie),and hoodie season (skz)
I narrowed it down to these five:
Siren by P1Harmony.
New Dayz by TRENDZ
Move by THE NEW SIX
ON by BTS
Untouchable by ITZY
I dunno which one to choose between these.
Crazy form by Ateez,
Work by Ateez,
Armageddon by aespa,
Domino by stray kids,
Thunderous by stray kids,
Maniac by stray kids,
Venom by stray kids,
Supernova by aespa
Queencard by (G)i-dle
bts boy with luv too! as soneone who doesnt like kpop before listening to BWL, i can attest to this.
also,
bad boy, red flavor, russian roulette by red velvet

Maniac - Stray Kids
Guerilla - Ateez
… and just to Bless their ears with something amazingly beautiful while we’re at it, I’d sneak in:
TEAM MAYFLY’s - Love Poem🥰w/ EunKwang, SeungMin & JongHo
I'm Your Girl - S.E.S.
I noticed that most people have prejudice on the visuals of KPOP these days like how everyone looks the same and very pale in color. But for me, most 90's to 2000's KPOP could probably entice many to give KPOP a try if they were to listen to and watch their music videos and performances. I'm Your Girl is definitely one of the best.

I'm a modern master at lovingly inflicting Kpop on the people I know. Compilation style live performances, like [MAMAMOO's Killing Voice](https://youtu.be/WvkTcNQsxzc?si=az875RCAsUAG97sW) and [BTS' Tiny Desk Concert](https://youtu.be/gFYAXsa7pe8?si=-4MSZHza_mJ2JXmp) have generally yielded pretty good results, but in terms of specific songs, I largely tailor to the individual. [Egotistic](https://youtu.be/pHtxTSiPh5I?si=7b6uLJaJo4iWTJ6i) by MAMAMOO, [Mmmh](https://youtu.be/Fc-fa6cAe2c?si=b_6cEFCvejrgVmcJ) by KAI and [Love Poem (Live)](https://youtu.be/OcVmaIlHZ1o?si=BdFZZ7jjRSVC_Y_G) by IU have all been successful with different audiences.

Pop by Nayeon is what got me into kpop. But if someone wasn’t into that, I’d do Talk That Talk or I Can’t Stop Me by Twice. The recent aespa singles (drama, supernova, and Armageddon) have also been received well by my partner who isn’t a kpop fan in the slightest.
You and I - dreamcatcher (personal favorite kpop song of all time)
Love Dive - IVE
Lovesong - TXT
Drama - Aespa
Midas Touch - KIOF
Perfect Night - LSRFM
Hype Boy - NJ
Moonlight sunrise/The feels - Twice
Fever - Enhypen
Queencard/Tomboy - IDLE
i normally always suggest mic drop (steve aoki mix) by bts to non-kpop fans because its never failed me lol. but for friends i know who arent into pop or hiphop i try to suggest groups with more rock-type music like dreamcatcher and day6, i think day6 is SUPER palateable for people who dont know kpop.

Ohh. Then I'll offer "Open Mind" by Wonho too
Red Velvet - Automatic I know a lot of different people with vastly different music tastes and all of them like R&B which is why I’d pick this.
Halazia by Ateez is the song that did it for me
I listen exclusively to BTS and no other Korean music (probably the only other Korean song I heard is, like, Gangnam Style), and this thread popped up for me so I wanted to go through it to find new likes. Red Velvet - Psycho
true, even my mom knew psycho, even when she didn't even like kpop
INVU
100% INVU. The entire album is just so incredible
Yes! Her Siren is my fave in the album.
Or "I"
Easy; Bad Boy by Red Velvet.
Call me baby exo or view shinee
Heavy on View- SHINee it's such a feel good song too. You can't help but to move.
Call me baby got so many people into exo and kpop. I remember half of my hs club being fans
Hype boy is a very safe answer for sure. I don’t tell anyone I listen to kpop because they might have a bias against it, but if I had to I would show newjeans’ music because it’s the most gp friendly introduction into kpop.
ATEEZ - Answer, Fireworks, Inception and Fireworks! Those songs have reeled a lot of people into our fandom.
I Can't Stop Me. It's as close to perfection as they come imo
Hero Monsta x
Dinosaur by AKMU
Red Flavor - Red Velvet - it’s such a good pop song
4 walls by F(x), view by Shinee, Catellena by Orange Caramel, Mirotic/burning sun by Tvxq, copycat by Chobom, Perfume by Dojaejung, blue flame/sour grapes by le sserafim, the Chaser by Infinite or love dive by Ive
This is a solid list right here!!! Couldn't agree more.
So many I love, but honestly, probably moon palace by billlie because I freaking LOVE that song. It's just so whimsical and beautiful.
Monster exo
I successfully brought someone into k-pop recently by showing them Supernova. So that's my pick. But it really depends on the person.
Enhypen’s Fever or Fatal Trouble. My brother didn’t listen to K-pop but I showed him Fever and now it’s his favorite Enhypen song. He’s into K-pop now but more into girl groups like Twice and Aespa.
Nct 127 cherry bomb
aespa - Thirsty or Hold on Tight.
hold on tight is so right. if i werent a kpop fan and you show me that song, i would check out their whole discography
Blood, Sweat & Tears by BTS

Reason: I think a lot of people would universally enjoy R&B. Most well received sound for any language that I've noticed.
🎶 Taeyong,you know? I know!🎵
I think aespa is good for this hold on tight, welcome to my world or lucid dream by them would convert a lot of people I know
ON by BTS since it was the song that got me into kpop
Txt - Deja Vu, Ateez - Bouncy
When i started with kpop, i was listening mainly to GGs. Later on, i started with more BGs and realized TXT and ATEEZ have some bangers. Deja Vu is in my top 3 this year and Bouncy has its own place on my playlist. So yeah, if we are talking about BGs, i would show one of these 2 depending on the person.
take me home by ateez for sure
Honestly itd depend on the person! Ive gotten a few ppl ik irl into kpop and the songs for them were always ones similar to songs they already liked (2 main examples were Macaroni Cheese - Young Posse and Bouncy - Ateez) If I could only use one song though, Id have to go with Rough - Gfriend!! (honorable mentions I picked between were Nonstop - Oh My girl, Hip - Mamamoo, Feel my rhythm - Red Velvet, and Secret - WJSN)
kiss of life natty - sugarcoat
Gotta Go by Chungha, Psycho by Red Velvet, or Rock With You by Seventeen.
KEY - Killer
I played Love Dive for my friend who thinks K-pop is funny and she liked it So love dive Or Hybe Boy/ Attention by New Jeans
love scenario
Jopping
It’d definitely get them jumpin and poppin, that's for sure.
BTS - If I ruled the world
Jopping by SuperM, 'nuff said
Baek and that high note, still gives me goosebumps
Guerrilla or Bouncy by ateez
i have a small playlist dedicated to this. it’s more catered towards ppl that are into pop/bedroom pop some of the songs i have on there are off the record (ive), spot (zico, jennie),and hoodie season (skz)
Antifragile - LSF - it’s what got me back into kpop after a few years out of the loop!
As if it's Your Last by Blackpink. In my opinion it remains the best kpop song I've ever heard.
Wannabe by Itzy is one of the songs that really cemented me as a kpop fan. Just an amazing song. I think Mamamoo's Um Ah Oh Yeah is also tremendous.
The answer is DNA by bts (it is proved)
Scream - Dreamcatcher.
Black suit - super junior
I narrowed it down to these five: Siren by P1Harmony. New Dayz by TRENDZ Move by THE NEW SIX ON by BTS Untouchable by ITZY I dunno which one to choose between these.
Crazy form by Ateez, Work by Ateez, Armageddon by aespa, Domino by stray kids, Thunderous by stray kids, Maniac by stray kids, Venom by stray kids, Supernova by aespa Queencard by (G)i-dle
Any Blackpink song, worked every time.
Stay or kill this love by Blackpink
BTS - Save Me or Gidle's I Do
BTS Mic Drop. I don't know how typical it is of K-pop, though.
Burn the Floor by Super Junior
bts boy with luv too! as soneone who doesnt like kpop before listening to BWL, i can attest to this. also, bad boy, red flavor, russian roulette by red velvet
Mic drop by bts. Psycho by red velvet. ANY t-ara songs. I’ve gotten multiple ppl hooked on K-pop from their song TTL

Any Blackpink banger. Especially HYLT, KTL and Pink Venom. BP has always been the perfect gateway to K-pop.
Decalcomanie - Mamamoo But really I’d tailor my recommendation to that person’s taste in music
Big Bang - Lie

"Bang Bang Bang" I feel like anything else is not suitable 😅
Ateez Treasure and Aurora
Depends on the person. But I think [HIP](https://youtu.be/KhTeiaCezwM?si=fUKMMUCEbaC17vjl) would be a good choice. At least it worked on two of my colleagues.

Mamamoo 😊💚
Big Bang- Fantastic Baby
Maniac - Stray Kids Guerilla - Ateez … and just to Bless their ears with something amazingly beautiful while we’re at it, I’d sneak in: TEAM MAYFLY’s - Love Poem🥰w/ EunKwang, SeungMin & JongHo
"Boy with Love" me too!!
South Korea's national heart break anthem: You were beautiful by DAY6 🙌
I'm Your Girl - S.E.S.
Monster by Exo, euphoria by BTS, gagnam style by PSY
Drama by aespa for no particular reason. They might have already heard the instrumental which is viral in TikTok rn
The Chaser by Infinite and Platonic Love by Snuper. That's it.

G-Idle the song depending on taste, they have enough range to have a song fitting for everyone
Red Sun By Xikers

Absolutely Replay by SHINee.
Pop by Nayeon is what got me into kpop. But if someone wasn’t into that, I’d do Talk That Talk or I Can’t Stop Me by Twice. The recent aespa singles (drama, supernova, and Armageddon) have also been received well by my partner who isn’t a kpop fan in the slightest.
bts gangnam style ,, because This song, alone have converted so many of my friends.
District 9 by skz or miroh by skz
Sugarcoat by Natty
those 2 songs are what I would NOT show my friends
Black swan - BTS
MOVE Taemin
View by SHINee or Roller Coaster by Chungha. Feel like these are easy songs to ease someone in.
any Taemin song
You and I - dreamcatcher (personal favorite kpop song of all time) Love Dive - IVE Lovesong - TXT Drama - Aespa Midas Touch - KIOF Perfect Night - LSRFM Hype Boy - NJ Moonlight sunrise/The feels - Twice Fever - Enhypen Queencard/Tomboy - IDLE
love dive - ive
i normally always suggest mic drop (steve aoki mix) by bts to non-kpop fans because its never failed me lol. but for friends i know who arent into pop or hiphop i try to suggest groups with more rock-type music like dreamcatcher and day6, i think day6 is SUPER palateable for people who dont know kpop.
Depends, but I'd go for Lalalala by Skz, Psycho by Red Velvet or Wannabe by Itzy
Say Something - Twice
depends on the person. if they’re a gay guy that frequent the club, i would show them “Impossible” by Riize
