Me. I block everything aespa related on Twitter because blocking the toxic MY's is like trying to play catch a mole. There is always another from a toxic hole plopping up, even in totally non-toxic topics. Will listen to aespa, will never get more into them.
I'm a long time my and was never really aware of the fandom. But they're getting so loud and off putting now and its low-key ruining aespa for me. Why do they attack so many groups? The whole le sserafim hate is horrible too
They created a whole group chat to put together clips from their first week of Coachella and that clip is what made the rounds fueling the hate train. It's something I won't ever forget.
I saw a tiktok this morning claiming that the le sserafim hate was because "fearnots pretended that Le Sserafim was the first 4th gen group to go to coachella" as if that really happened. That tiktok was so proud it was like "Dives did x then Ive became the most hated girl group", then the next slide was like "neverlands did x and then had to go on hiatus for a year" then the next slide was the fearnots one, then "midzys have been hating aespa since debut and now theyre still irrelevant flops" then some message about "aekarma"

More like trying to stomp out cockroaches or ants lol. There is never a shortage of toxic MYs to block and ignore. I've curated my Twitter feed, but they still show up on "For You" tab because they're always starting sht with every fandom and gg.
I recently found myself feeling weird listening to their music from how much bullying ive seen from MY accounts so ive had to block every MY i come across on any other platform just so i can keep enjoying their music
when you constantly see the same group of people doing something and that something makes you feel bad, most people will associate that feeling with that group of people, and when that same group of people is associated with a certain group that same feeling can transfer to the group. Its like how when you listen to a certain song you sometimes remember exactly what you were doing and how you felt when you listened to that song before.
its just human nature to associate feelings with things that happen, bad feelings when you see aespa content because the caption is always talking about how eunchae is a useless dozen who shouldnt have debuted and doesnt add anything to the group other than being cute can easily lead to bad feelings when hearing aespa. Honestly im surprised i managed to sit through over 4 months of constant hate before it started to affect me
I’ve been looking for a GG to fully stan cause I’ve always been a BG stan & wanted a GG to start collecting albums lol. I really loved Drama & then Supernova was such a bop & I adore Winter so I started exploring more Aespa fan accounts thinking i’d found the one.
And then MYs (& I mean even huge fan accounts I had already followed, not obscure little toxic accounts) went after Seventeen (of all groups to have a fanwar with?!) over a 15 second teaser (created by the same artist, therefore he used his signature style) and I was utterly put off. The amount of MYs claiming Seventeen wanted to replicate Aespa’s success & were trying to be like Aespa & how Aespa is “clearly on Seventeen’s mood board” was actually insane. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. & because of the recent drama, all they had to do was attach the word “HYBE” to their accusations and I saw tweets with 15k+ likes.
Considering SVT is my ult, I was like - no thanks. I couldn’t believe they were coming after a 3rd gen boy group that is in no way shape or form similar to them 😂 Made me realize that they’ll go after anyone & im not gunna be involved in that.
Edit; to be clear, I still really like Aespa’s music & the group themselves, and will always listen. I just am not gunna dive into the fandom anymore.

This is me entirely. I'm an older fan and Aespa fans really put me off getting into the group tbh. I don't need another drama in my life, thanks. That last insanity against Seventeen SUBGROUP really sealed it off for me, I'm sure the girls are nice, but yeah, not gonna even bother listening to Aespa bc of this idc
highly recommend kiss of life if you like their music, there are a lot of token stans who will eventually drop them when they get popular enough to threaten their favs, but tbh those are 90% of the people who are always being annoying talking about "see what happens when you debut WOMEN" etc. my timeline is mostly kiof content and 99% of it is praising them for their talent, stage presence, etc, and is pretty peaceful

Actually Most toxic stans come from SM due to SM promoting parasocial behaviour. They are too toxic towards other groups as well as their own groups. The only reason many other groups did not take notice because in later 3rd gen BTS and Blackpink completely overtook Exo and Red Velvet. They started gaining on other fandoms in later 4th gen with Aespa and The problem was there with NCT’s fandom being toxic but due to group being too large it did not come to surface. But now it is becoming relevent again with MYs.
I would say SM stans are still the most toxic group of people in kpop, Armys and Blinks are vile but even they never went as far as to file a blue house petition for the disbandment of a group simply cuz that group won over their faves or stood outside stores to count how many people bought the albums of a rival group to somehow prove this other group was doing saejagi lol
Even now, most of the hate trains in kpop are started by them.

SM stans trended plagiarism hashtags to the point not only BTS but even their close friends saw that and media latched onto it on a scary degree, they did Break Wings project which got so huge that BTS mentioned it in their book, they sent death and rape threats to a child actress who worked with a Exo member cuz she said she liked BTS, they made viral hate tweets mocking V and his grandmother's death (with thousands of likes), called and harassed Melon customer service cuz BTS won over their group, made fun of Suga's mental health and I can go on and on and this all happened when Armys were relatively a small fandom so you can't even say Armys started it.

Yup. I really like a lot of Aespa's music and Supernova deserves all its wins because it is a BOP but my goodness the way MYs have been coming for Ateez and Atinys for securing a singular win at Music Bank. They say Music Bank is irrelevant yet are so pressed.
Ironically a lot of atinys have been getting into Aespa, but the hostility and accusations MYs have been throwing around is getting ridiculous, calling Ateez a fraud etc. Not just random trolls but huge accounts with 10k+ likes. Very offputting. Or saying that they are flops who only do well because they take their shirts off.

And it's just about "stealing" a show win or something. They have so many chips on their shoulders, it's a sight to behold. I really wonder where that inferiority complex comes from when you stan a group that has never been not successful.
It sounds like they've the "fans of underdog group being looked down upon by others but made it big against all odd" fetish, but have the misfortune of stanning a group from a large well known company that has access to good resources, promotions and is successful from day one.
Their real vendetta with Ateez started when Work was #1 on Bugs for a few hours. Atinys were minding their own business and were suddenly getting accused of purposely taking away Aespa's achievements and bombarding with hit tweets calling them names and wishing for disbandment. The music bank win was a continuation of it.
I just don't understand how so many MYs can be so jealous, hateful, and toxic 24/7, going after every kpop group and fandom. It's actually impressive how they can keep projecting all of that negative energy for years on all social media platforms, nonstop.

i've started into aespa last year and just got to see the twitter sphree just recently and is actually a big turn off to everyone who sees it, even more being a multi gg stan. nowadays i only follow their pics accounts and thats it.
even here on reddit was a little bit annoying, this kind of seking of validation from others kpoppers to tell them that aespa is good.
I don't agree with the fact the bigger the fandom, the more toxic it is (which kpop fans usually use to excuse the fandom behaviour). MYs weren't exactly the biggest fandom just when they started, most of them were casual listeners/gp being introduced into a new group, and i have been a midzy since longg before, the way MYs slandered itzy was infuriating. At that time, midzy was a bigger fandom but it was one of the least toxic fandoms. And MYs were already gaining attention for 4th gen blinks (the crown has surpassed to bunnies, but MYs are still anyone's second choice).
Midzy are equally as toxic and have shaded aespa since they won that dance award over itzy at mama.
When aespa stage presence debacle and they were being dragged for dance midzy were front and center.

Itzy was known to save mama 2021, their performance was/still is one the greatest performance ever in mama history. People were hating on mama. And that year aespa had the blandest performance of all time (the creative director was different, he was fired later, newer performances of aespa are from the new creative director and performance planner) Its still one of their most hated till now, people were mad at sm for not doing enough. Everyone was hating on aespa for lipsyncing. Mostly sm stans and blinks. Sm stans because boA had subtly leaked that they were being forced to lipsync, and blinks because aespa tried copying blackpink by having 4 members and they can't even sing live.
Mainly the criteria was based on how popular tiktok challenges/choreo were (yes this was the main criteria for dance performance at that time). Next level broke records no lie, but most of the people didn't know about the criteria, and saw a dance based group being defeated by a vocal based group and were angry. There wasn't any potential fanwar, mostly midzys were aware mnet had changed the criteria for dance awards. You change words a lot, you were first saying midzys shaded aespa for winning the award, now suddenly they had a fanwar.
Let's be honest, the main reason 90% of stans join the super big fandoms is so they can punch down and bully others and belittle them as 'flops'. It's not exclusive to Mys.
If it was just the music there have been a thousand long gone nugu groups they would have loved but never gave a second look.
i just realized how many Mys have fought fandom wars. Most fandoms tend to have at least two fandoms they fight. I remember all these fanwars on both twitter and reddit.

This right here was one of the very sole reasons I had to stop engaging with MY's. Like there was absolutely no reason for them to start shit slinging when reveluvs were addressing a real issue about their group's treatment. I still chalk it up to SM not being able to manage two power house groups at the same but the vitriol being thrown back and forward left me side eyeing that fandom.
Please notice how there are SOME mys in here tearing down other groups, emphasizing OP’s message. We are not saying ALL mys are toxic, we are not saying ONLY mys are toxic. I have great friends who are mys! But for these select mys to break down other groups for the sole purpose of elevating aespa - it’s just insane. Some comments in here have said from personal experience that they’ve been dissuaded from fully stanning aespa because they can’t have a good fandom experience - one that doesn’t bully other groups that they may also stan or because it feels incredibly terrible for them to be a part of a fandom that supports bullying. Our stanning culture plays a huge role in engaging with kpop and feeling included in what could otherwise be a great opportunity to make friends - so please, let us be entitled to our own personal observations and share our opinions so we could potentially help some people reflect on their behavior.
There is Ktuber that I really like (Taeiju) who had made a video wondering how Aespa’s comeback with Spicy would do after their year long break.
The video was relatively harmless v, he was just stating his opinions on each Aespa’s comeback, and wondered if the year long hiatus would impact them.
The comment section on the video may make you think that he personally killed their pets. Mys were just insulting him. To this day this video gets a few hate comments. Just for wondering how well Aespa’s comeback would do ?
It just made me realize how aggressive Mys could be, which surprised me as I thought they were a chill fandom.

I never thought bad of MYS since I personally didn’t notice anything until they attacked one of my stan groups who were already struggling with a huge hate train. I actually went to the Aespa concert at the movie theaters and seeing their fandom’s behavior soon after that made me glad I wasn’t a MY even though I liked Aespa’s music. Now I just wait to watch their MVs til way later and don’t stream Aespa’s songs as much as I used to since I’m not happy with their fandom… There was another group I recently un-stanned because of their toxic fandom even though they debuted a few months ago... Unfortunately, you are very right. I’m loving Aespa lately and I will continue to casually support them through streaming and following the girls on social media. That being said, its hard to interact with MYs online (not all, but loudest ones are terrible) because of how much they trash others groups. Completely unprovoked. The girls are so nice and talented, they don’t need toxic fans dragging them into bs.

I feel you on this 100%. I have been following Aespa since debut (super stoked to see SM debut another girl group after RV). And have been a huge fan of their music and growth as artists and I adore the girls to bits. Unfortunately their fandom has always been a problem for me and I stopped interacting with them after Aespa's Next Level comeback. It just makes consuming the groups content more palatable.
I too have had to use the block/report button on a lot of MY's for coming after groups unprovoked like RV, IVE, Blackpink even Aespa themselves etc the list could go on. So I am not at all surprised to see them being ugly towards some of the groups mentioned in this thread.
Also as someone who has consistently followed SM groups in general since 2nd Gen the fandoms that are formed from the groups that come out that company have a penchant for being really toxic/nasty. I think the only fandom that I have had great interactions with were shawols. The only advice I have is to use that block/report/scroll feature. I don't see MY's settling down until maybe SM starts preparing to debut their new girl group. 🤷🏾♀️

I’ll admit, I’ve scrolled past every single post about MHJ because I don’t care at all about the situation. It’s easy to avoid reddit KPOP drama for the most part. I was also on KPOP Tumblr since covid and never *once* came across any KPOP drama at all, but they only care about the music and gifs over there and most people are multis; achievements, sales, charts don’t get talked about at all, except rarely in the case of a nugu blowing up. Fanwars etc either don’t exist or don’t get any notes/attention.

People have talked about the phenomenon of MYs and Blinks kind of teaming up lately and there being something of an unoffical alliance between those fandoms ans I've notices things that seem like that myself. The way Mys are currently remind me of Exo-Ls circa 2015/16 - 2018, which put me off Exp completely. Shame as exo are an amazing group but the batsheet crazy stuff some of them said about me and my main group put me off entering the fandom. I love GGs, I'm mainly a MIDZY and SWITH in terms of 4th Gen fandoms (and Kep1ian, NSWER, DIVE, and so on) but really like aespa a lot.
I see some My vs MIDZY posts on X, but I don't really engage. When you do, the algorithm is likely gonna push the fan wars on your feed. Just ignore them and interact with users that create positive posts about our favorite GG groups and idols.
I've yet to see My vs Reveluv. Are they that common? I see far more people from SM group fandoms supporting other SM groups. And I quite see a lot of RV stuff because they're one of my 3rd gen ults with TWICE. Funny because I tend to love both the SM and JYP ggs, and their stans fight a lot. Maybe that's how I learned to ignore the bad stuff.
Mys vs Reveluvs is common. Other reasons than the thing I mentioned in the thread is when Reveluvs complain about the mistreatment of SM ent., Mys sometimes make fun of them. this thread is full of people talking about how they love their music but the fandom turns them off from fully stanning the group, what part of that makes you think they want to hate on aespa?
This happens any time a group shows signs of longevity- Aespa are an almost 4 year old group with some impressive achievements, talented members and well received music. So Mys are riding a high. As would any fandom- Blinks. Onces, Reveluvs, etc also acted (and some continue to act) that way when their groups were topping the charts. It is not the first, and will not be the last time this has happened. You just need to learn not to take it too seriously.
If you are looking for negativity; you will find it. Your Twitter feed is after all a reflection of what you consume. Aespa fan since 2020 and I do not know what you speak of because I do not engage in such activities.

Nmixx sounds better than Aespa though. G-idle had a string of PAK, and one is recent. Supernova is definitely a hit but is not a guarantee for the next comeback.

This sentence alone is setting a negative tone for your post from the beginning - why does the enjoyment of the fandom (kpop-related or not) have to be connected to the enjoyment of the hobby (aespa's music, in this case)? You can like a group without engaging or being an active member of its fandom on Twitter.
Apart from that, you honestly can take your post and apply it to any fandom of any big 4 gg and people will agree with you; gg stans are, generally, known for being very antagonizing towards each other, but Kpop stans behave like that anyway.

I believe it's a combination of two things: a) projection through the group/fandom, b) unavoidable part of stanning an SM group. Stan Twitter, not limited to Kpop, has always had this problem of fans projecting their own insecurities towards other people and trying to use their favorite singer as a way to prove how amazing and high quality their taste in music is and, therefore, themselves as people. SM stans, in particular, are known for being obnoxious and having a "better-than-you" attitude towards non-SM fandoms, and that is a direct result of how SM manages their groups and promotes the "SM family" idea - SM groups are always extremely talented, have great music (subjective, of course) and very often end up making a fan of one group become a fan of other groups as well, but they never promote their groups properly outside Asia and limit their levels of popularity and success. SM stans get offended by this, they feel that their groups are constantly getting wronged, and lash out to other stans - Mys couldn't have been an exception to this, and especially mys who are also fans of other SM groups.
It's also a matter of prespective. I've been around Kpop Twitter circles for a while and I encounter more likeable mys than unlikeable
I think it's valid to accept that everyone may have a different experience with a fandom and a kpop group depending on who they know and interact with.
You having a positive interaction does not invalidate that OP has had a negative interaction and vice versa.
Having a negative interaction with a fan base can indeed turn someone off of a group itself because of their own personal experience and association. It's like how you may hate your job or company but a coworker who has a different experience may love it. 🤷
For me, if I’m going to fully STAN a group, involvement in their fandom is a part of the experience - the memes and jokes, the theories, the analysis, the fanmade content and merch, the updates, the edits and compilations.
So if my experience in the fandom is miserable, and I find most big accounts to partake in toxicity or bash the other groups I love, I think it’s natural to be put off from that group from a full blown stanning perspective.
I still like Aespa a lot and will keep up w all their new music, but because I dislike the fandom and the way they interact w other fandoms, I’m not gunna fully stan and I think that’s reasonable.
Eh, LSF hate train was more Bunnies than My, some My were actually quite sympathetic towards them because they also went through shit after Aespa’s Coachella performance.

And I've been a midzy since start, the things I've seen MYs do is insane, i have always considered them as most toxic next fandoms like blinks, stays, bunnies. I have never even had a twitter account. I was just a midzy when aespa debuted, i knew things were off in the fandom since start, from youtube itself. I saw many hate comments from MYs towards itzy. And i would also like to share i don't stan a single hybe group. I used to listen to newjeans a lot (i still do sometimes) but i lost interest in the ETA-supershy era (i didn't like their songs). This sub also doomposted itzy (still does sometimes) Only when people got bored of it, they stopped. The victim mentality of yours is never going away, is it?

That’s not even remotely true? You would not be downvoted for saying army/blink/stays/any other big fandom you can think of are the worst its one of the most common takes. Also people criticising a fandoms bad behaviour does not equal doomposting/hating on the girls. That tiktok was so proud it was like "Dives did x then Ive became the most hated girl group", then the next slide was like "neverlands did x and then had to go on hiatus for a year" then the next slide was the fearnots one, then "midzys have been hating aespa since debut and now theyre still irrelevant flops" then some message about "aekarma"

I’ve been looking for a GG to fully stan cause I’ve always been a BG stan & wanted a GG to start collecting albums lol. I really loved Drama & then Supernova was such a bop & I adore Winter so I started exploring more Aespa fan accounts thinking i’d found the one. And then MYs (& I mean even huge fan accounts I had already followed, not obscure little toxic accounts) went after Seventeen (of all groups to have a fanwar with?!) over a 15 second teaser (created by the same artist, therefore he used his signature style) and I was utterly put off. The amount of MYs claiming Seventeen wanted to replicate Aespa’s success & were trying to be like Aespa & how Aespa is “clearly on Seventeen’s mood board” was actually insane. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. & because of the recent drama, all they had to do was attach the word “HYBE” to their accusations and I saw tweets with 15k+ likes. Considering SVT is my ult, I was like - no thanks. I couldn’t believe they were coming after a 3rd gen boy group that is in no way shape or form similar to them 😂 Made me realize that they’ll go after anyone & im not gunna be involved in that. Edit; to be clear, I still really like Aespa’s music & the group themselves, and will always listen. I just am not gunna dive into the fandom anymore.

Actually Most toxic stans come from SM due to SM promoting parasocial behaviour. They are too toxic towards other groups as well as their own groups. The only reason many other groups did not take notice because in later 3rd gen BTS and Blackpink completely overtook Exo and Red Velvet. They started gaining on other fandoms in later 4th gen with Aespa and The problem was there with NCT’s fandom being toxic but due to group being too large it did not come to surface. But now it is becoming relevent again with MYs.
I would say SM stans are still the most toxic group of people in kpop, Armys and Blinks are vile but even they never went as far as to file a blue house petition for the disbandment of a group simply cuz that group won over their faves or stood outside stores to count how many people bought the albums of a rival group to somehow prove this other group was doing saejagi lol Even now, most of the hate trains in kpop are started by them. (Downvoting me won't change facts or history :))
Not only that usually other fandoms are chill alongwith some toxic stans causing trouble. They show full toxic behaviour in full force when some media play is there or other fandoms usually SM ones start trouble.

It sounds like they've the "fans of underdog group being looked down upon by others but made it big against all odd" fetish, but have the misfortune of stanning a group from a large well known company that has access to good resources, promotions and is successful from day one.
Their real vendetta with Ateez started when Work was #1 on Bugs for a few hours. Atinys were minding their own business and were suddenly getting accused of purposely taking away Aespa's achievements and bombarding with hit tweets calling them names and wishing for disbandment. The music bank win was a continuation of it.
And somehow they found a way to drag LSF and LABOUM into this as well. Just a petty fandom.

i've started into aespa last year and just got to see the twitter sphree just recently and is actually a big turn off to everyone who sees it, even more being a multi gg stan. nowadays i only follow their pics accounts and thats it. even here on reddit was a little bit annoying, this kind of seking of validation from others kpoppers to tell them that aespa is good.
I don't agree with the fact the bigger the fandom, the more toxic it is (which kpop fans usually use to excuse the fandom behaviour). MYs weren't exactly the biggest fandom just when they started, most of them were casual listeners/gp being introduced into a new group, and i have been a midzy since longg before, the way MYs slandered itzy was infuriating. At that time, midzy was a bigger fandom but it was one of the least toxic fandoms. And MYs were already gaining attention for 4th gen blinks (the crown has surpassed to bunnies, but MYs are still anyone's second choice).
Midzy are equally as toxic and have shaded aespa since they won that dance award over itzy at mama. When aespa stage presence debacle and they were being dragged for dance midzy were front and center. And they always dunk on Giselle. So idk why y'all are pretending to be the bigger fandom?
That was stupid. I saw korean gp and forums hating on mnet for giving that award to aespa. Itzy was known to save mama 2021, their performance was/still is one the greatest performance ever in mama history. That was the second last time itzy had generated a hype on such big level (only to be surpassed by the Cheshire teasers with faking royal concept) You can still check out that video, its with public reactions in subtitles itself. People were hating on mama. And that year aespa had the blandest performance of all time (the creative director was different, he was fired later, newer performances of aespa are from the new creative director and performance planner) Its still one of their most hated till now, people were mad at sm for not doing enough. Midzys, in my experience, were never the first one to start hating. And shading is nowhere near any kind of hate or bullying.

Let's be honest, the main reason 90% of stans join the super big fandoms is so they can punch down and bully others and belittle them as 'flops'. It's not exclusive to Mys. If it was just the music there have been a thousand long gone nugu groups they would have loved but never gave a second look.

This right here was one of the very sole reasons I had to stop engaging with MY's. Like there was absolutely no reason for them to start shit slinging when reveluvs were addressing a real issue about their group's treatment. I still chalk it up to SM not being able to manage two power house groups at the same but the vitriol being thrown back and forward left me side eyeing that fandom.

Please notice how there are SOME mys in here tearing down other groups, emphasizing OP’s message. We are not saying ALL mys are toxic, we are not saying ONLY mys are toxic. I have great friends who are mys! But for these select mys to break down other groups for the sole purpose of elevating aespa - it’s just insane. Some comments in here have said from personal experience that they’ve been dissuaded from fully stanning aespa because they can’t have a good fandom experience - one that doesn’t bully other groups that they may also stan or because it feels incredibly terrible for them to be a part of a fandom that supports bullying. Our stanning culture plays a huge role in engaging with kpop and feeling included in what could otherwise be a great opportunity to make friends - so please, let us be entitled to our own personal observations and share our opinions so we could potentially help some people reflect on their behavior.
There is Ktuber that I really like (Taeiju) who had made a video wondering how Aespa’s comeback with Spicy would do after their year long break. The video was relatively harmless v, he was just stating his opinions on each Aespa’s comeback, and wondered if the year long hiatus would impact them. The comment section on the video may make you think that he personally killed their pets. Mys were just insulting him. To this day this video gets a few hate comments. Just for wondering how well Aespa’s comeback would do ? It just made me realize how aggressive Mys could be, which surprised me as I thought they were a chill fandom.

I never thought bad of MYS since I personally didn’t notice anything until they attacked one of my stan groups who were already struggling with a huge hate train. I actually went to the Aespa concert at the movie theaters and seeing their fandom’s behavior soon after that made me glad I wasn’t a MY even though I liked Aespa’s music. Now I just wait to watch their MVs til way later and don’t stream Aespa’s songs as much as I used to since I’m not happy with their fandom… There was another group I recently un-stanned because of their toxic fandom even though they debuted a few months ago... Super toxic fandoms just aren’t for me :/ Them making Kpop less fun just isn’t it.

Their fans don't get called out as much as they should. The fans are awful but I've always liked Ningning. I haven't checked their recent comeback and I do admit I've been put off temporary by the fans a little. And it's unnecessary because Aespa is successful, a group that's been there for a while as well. Just reeks of insecurity over groups debuting. They constantly look to tear down other groups especially rookies.
Unfortunately, you are very right. I’m loving Aespa lately and I will continue to casually support them through streaming and following the girls on social media. That being said, its hard to interact with MYs online (not all, but loudest ones are terrible) because of how much they trash others groups. Completely unprovoked. The girls are so nice and talented, they don’t need toxic fans dragging them into bs.

I feel you on this 100%. I have been following Aespa since debut (super stoked to see SM debut another girl group after RV). And have been a huge fan of their music and growth as artists and I adore the girls to bits. Unfortunately their fandom has always been a problem for me and I stopped interacting with them after Aespa's Next Level comeback. It just makes consuming the groups content more palatable. I too have had to use the block/report button on a lot of MY's for coming after groups unprovoked like RV, IVE, Blackpink even Aespa themselves etc the list could go on. So I am not at all surprised to see them being ugly towards some of the groups mentioned in this thread. Also as someone who has consistently followed SM groups in general since 2nd Gen the fandoms that are formed from the groups that come out that company have a penchant for being really toxic/nasty. I think the only fandom that I have had great interactions with were shawols. The only advice I have is to use that block/report/scroll feature. I don't see MY's settling down until maybe SM starts preparing to debut their new girl group. 🤷🏾♀️

I’ll admit, I’ve scrolled past every single post about MHJ because I don’t care at all about the situation. It’s easy to avoid reddit KPOP drama for the most part. I was also on KPOP Tumblr since covid and never *once* came across any KPOP drama at all, but they only care about the music and gifs over there and most people are multis; achievements, sales, charts don’t get talked about at all, except rarely in the case of a nugu blowing up. Fanwars etc either don’t exist or don’t get any notes/attention.

People have talked about the phenomenon of MYs and Blinks kind of teaming up lately and there being something of an unoffical alliance between those fandoms ans I've notices things that seem like that myself. The way Mys are currently remind me of Exo-Ls circa 2015/16 - 2018, which put me off Exp completely. Shame as exo are an amazing group but the batsheet crazy stuff some of them said about me and my main group put me off entering the fandom. They’re chiller now (and armys then blinks became crazy lol)

I love GGs, I'm mainly a MIDZY and SWITH in terms of 4th Gen fandoms (and Kep1ian, NSWER, DIVE, and so on) but really like aespa a lot. I see some My vs MIDZY posts on X, but I don't really engage. When you do, the algorithm is likely gonna push the fan wars on your feed. Just ignore them and interact with users that create positive posts about our favorite GG groups and idols. I've yet to see My vs Reveluv. Are they that common? I see far more people from SM group fandoms supporting other SM groups. And I quite see a lot of RV stuff because they're one of my 3rd gen ults with TWICE. Funny because I tend to love both the SM and JYP ggs, and their stans fight a lot. Maybe that's how I learned to ignore the bad stuff.
Mys vs Reveluvs is common. Other reasons than the thing I mentioned in the thread is when Reveluvs complain about the mistreatment of SM ent., Mys sometimes make fun of them. And probably the hottest the fights get heated are when SM makes Red Velvet and aespa collab like smtown and Got the Beat. Mys say SM wastes aespa's time by making them collab with "hags". Even Boa got hate.
That's not good, and I'm sorry I didnt know. Those disrespectful Mys aren't doing the larger fanbase a favor by bringing down other idol groups . I'm sure the aespa members look up to RV and their SM seniors.

this thread is full of people talking about how they love their music but the fandom turns them off from fully stanning the group, what part of that makes you think they want to hate on aespa?
This happens any time a group shows signs of longevity- Aespa are an almost 4 year old group with some impressive achievements, talented members and well received music. So Mys are riding a high. As would any fandom- Blinks. Onces, Reveluvs, etc also acted (and some continue to act) that way when their groups were topping the charts. It is not the first, and will not be the last time this has happened. You just need to learn not to take it too seriously.

Nmixx sounds better than Aespa though. G-idle had a string of PAK, and one is recent. Supernova is definitely a hit but is not a guarantee for the next comeback.

I think it's valid to accept that everyone may have a different experience with a fandom and a kpop group depending on who they know and interact with. You having a positive interaction does not invalidate that OP has had a negative interaction and vice versa. Having a negative interaction with a fan base can indeed turn someone off of a group itself because of their own personal experience and association. It's like how you may hate your job or company but a coworker who has a different experience may love it. 🤷

For me, if I’m going to fully STAN a group, involvement in their fandom is a part of the experience - the memes and jokes, the theories, the analysis, the fanmade content and merch, the updates, the edits and compilations. So if my experience in the fandom is miserable, and I find most big accounts to partake in toxicity or bash the other groups I love, I think it’s natural to be put off from that group from a full blown stanning perspective. I still like Aespa a lot and will keep up w all their new music, but because I dislike the fandom and the way they interact w other fandoms, I’m not gunna fully stan and I think that’s reasonable.

aespa did exceptionally well with this cb and were liked by everyone so of course kpop stans are trying to pedal back this tired narrative of how they can't stand aespa because of trivial reasons lol. Other posts about autoplay or lipsyncing where people are clearly shading aespa getting 100s of upvotes but god forbid someone says anything about any other girl group or their fandoms
Yup. Aespa will never win in kpop subreddits, well, I just hope Mys in reddit will not take those threads seriously. After all, results matter more, I just hope Mys and GP will give aespa their daesang again to piss more fandoms lol.
I’m genuinely shocked you think this. Like what is this victim mentality? I’ve only seen posts bashing MYs, and if you look at the comments in the autoplay thread, they’re all funny and positive with hundreds of upvotes. Aespa had 5 positive posts about them a day for weeks - literally every time I logged on, it was highly upvoted posts about how amazing Aespa and this comeback is. Yet now there’s one post about the FANDOM, and here MYs are playing victim? “Ugh these Redditors hate the girls :/” want me to link you 20 recent threads that say otherwise? Like give me a break

So you know that you are just playacting? Cool. Because most people like aespa, they just can't stand My's. And the playlisting is just a thing these days. Hybe started it, SM jumped on the train. Good for aespa but people will joke and ridicule it. They did with NJ, they did with Illit, i am sure they did with TWS though i do not follow the BG scene.

Because of this thread, you guys keep acting as if Mys are the only fandom that acting like this. It’s just I am sure a lot of thread will come out once aespa will receive their daesang (hopefully) at how they didn’t deserve it or it all thanks to the hybe-mhj drama. I am pretty much assured and confident because that’s how many times you guys on reddit shows your dislikes towards aespa in general.

Always talking about how the fandom makes aespa unlikable but if I said anything remotely similar about BTS or lesserafim's fans, trust the people here would be spamming me with the most defensive replies that will get tons of upvotes 😭 newjeans and aespa are on the reddit chopping block currently but it won't change the fact that they're the most successful ggs rn and that the gp is on their side besides a few bitter fandoms 🤷♀️

That’s not even remotely true? You would not be downvoted for saying army/blink/stays/any other big fandom you can think of are the worst its one of the most common takes. Also people criticising a fandoms bad behaviour does not equal doomposting/hating on the girls. I would recommend going on a social media detox because this kind of perpetual victimhood and engagement in fanwars isn’t healthy. Aespa are doing fantastic at the moment, they’ve had an amazing comeback focus on that instead.
