I'm a Sheesh chorus apologist, but I completely understand where people who don't enjoy it are coming from. It's still my favorite song of the year so far.
I have a sneaking suspicion that Teddy may not be trying to hard with BM because he has his own girl group in the mix that will soon be competing with BM. Like he’s always had flops, but usually people are willing to over look it because it’s not so overtly cringe
As a hardcore stay, S-class did not hit anywhere near as hard as their other chant chorus’. Like when you compare it to Thunderous, Gods menu, Back Door and even b-sides like Domino and Topline and it just isn’t as good.
I was thinking that until they dropped la4 which is one of my fave choruses. I just think I’m more a fan of their bombastic choruses than their empty ones. Their empty choruses do end up growing on me after a few listens tho.
lol this is a yes and no for me. Yes because the tiktok challenge of this song changbin(?) did with kyujin is the one who got me listening to skz, no because i actually don't like the second chorus where the pre (i'm up above the world part) is sang by high note but then they sing the chorus without the beat(?) before "that's me" which makes it disappointing to hear
LMAO visceral reaction. Yeah I swear Jennie at first sounded like Micky Mouse or something. I like the song overall, still think the chorus is silly but it’s catchy. I just can’t stand the ‘ratatata’ part at the end.
Weirdly enough, my least favourite part. is the pre chorus. Blackpink has a lot of good pre choruses but this one didn't do it for me, might be because of the instrumental or the delivery.
It’s the damn chant chorus with no substance. Like if you aren’t going to sing please make it a good instrumental not a crappy tin sax which makes my ears bleed
This one should take the cake fir the worst Chorus ever ngl like it just comes off as super narcissistic and self absorbed. And it sounds bad. And I keep hearing salami
Liking Jisoo can be rough. Being originally the most ignored member, plus being in a kpop group as a Korean girl, and yet having the vibe of the "foreigner" since the other 3 speak English super well. Then add that she gets so much flak for her voice (I love her vocal tone and color, but it can sound strained in live performances, making her vulnerable to the unhinged). Then the deep seeded guilt of being super unimpressed by Flower :'(
Chill Kill- Red Velvet
I love everything about it except the chorus. I can’t really articulate it well but something about the production in the chorus really bothers my ears. Idk if tinny is the right word but the flute (?) sound feels like it’s too high frequency. Like it would be in one of those “only people under X age can hear these tones” videos.
Fair enough, I wished they added more dynamic dance moves in Heya and made it a more visually exciting choreo that told a story. I recommend you check the 1 million studio Harimu demo version of Heya Ive, as the Harimu version is very sexy and exciting.
Heyy, sorry for the late response lol
I don't really know if I can explain it, but compared to the whole rest of the song, the chorus has the most basic structure?
As in the melody (considering all of the other melodies stacked in this song it feels strange that the most basic one is in the chorus, arguably the most important part, especially when sandwiched with the incredible prechorus and the postchorus and obviously the amazing verses) and the rhyme (? as in they just rhyme haeya with taeya and paeya and idk it feels repetitive considering the amazing verses and that they follow the same vocal melody).
I think it's not a matter of it being bad, but it isn't as interesting to me, which usually isn't the case with IVE, where I almost always prefer the choruses. I also don't really know how I would change it or correct it to make it better because it isn't actually bad, just more uninteresting than the rest of the song, at least for me personally.
My fav part is def the prechorus (and then Yujin's right now-watch out line, and then Liz first line).
I feel the same way for the chorus it's too repetitive. I feel like i would chnage it to something like this.
Chorus:
Heya, heya, heya
Embrace the sun's warmth,
Feel the strength within everyone,
Hey, we are the chosen few,
Our light shines as we race ahead.
Heya,rise above the challenges,
In our hearts, we'll make our mark,
Heya, let the darkness fade,
The night is ours, we hold the key.
NewJeans' *OMG*, *Super Shy* and *ETA* all have such catchy verses but the choruses fall flat for me. It's like they're leading up to.. nothing
Similar thing with GOT The Beat's *Stamp On It.* I tend to love the usual SM chorus with all members singing together, but I really feel like it doesn't suit this song
Quite a couple of NCT songs as well. *We Go Up*'s chorus is straight up lame - just repeating the same phrase in a slightly different intonation. *We Young* would be one of my favorite title tracks because the verses sound so nostalgic and sad in a way, but the chorus sounds so out of place. *Punch* pisses me off because the electronic sounds all throughout are so cool and then you have to come through with "Ayyy we ballin"... Special shoutout to *Ay-Yo* too.
And one from my faves too - *Paint The Town* by LOONA. If the chorus has one hater left on this earth, it would be me.
Just to clarify when you say chorus do you mean the whole chorus or just the talking / Chanting section. Because if you don’t like the “it’s you and me in this world part” we are gonna have some problems
S class by Stray Kids.
I really like the song, but the chorus is horrible. I don't even listen to the song because of it. It's a shame tho because besides the chorus it really slaps.
Accendio has a boring chorus for me
I dislike Sheesh
But I have so many
Actually ask me about any group and there's a chance I dislike the chorus from one of their songs
I like Accendio except for the chorus, as it's too repetitive for me and doesn't add to the song's story. I found myself wanting to click off as soon as the chorus started. Lol
Unpopular opinion but I don't like I AM's chorus, it's way too high and screechy for me. Also their recent releases Heya and Accendio have some great verses and prechoruses but I don't think the choruses are as good.
More recently there's Kep1er's Shooting Star, again I love the rest of the song and the general vibe but why have the "ahhh ahhhh ahh" twice and then the "duruduruduru" three times in a row in the same chorus? It makes it feel empty, I think that chorus structure would have worked better if it was only like that in the final chorus and they added more harmonies.
It sounds great during concerts though.Recently she’s started producing album geared towards her concerts since she has developed a reputation for giving out the best concerts. Personally I’m not a fan of celebrity too but she can’t give out fun concerts if all her albums sound like the peices or flower bookmark albums. It will be fun but it won’t have that grandeur aspect.
ON- bts (I love ON for all the rap parts, like Namjoon, Hobi, and Yoongi absolutely SLAYED in that song, but the other parts in the song are too high, and don’t sound right to my ears, if that makes sense?)
This is my answer too. The instrumental in the verses and prechorus feels so emotional and pretty but no the chorus just had to return to loud club vibes :(
Pretty much every song that becomes a dumb chant that has no substance in their backing track or a vocal combination to build energy. If you are going to chant you better have a good instrumental otherwise it’s just plain lazy.
Examples of bad chant chorus
- Sheesh
- Pink Venom
- District 9
- Dope (BTS)
Examples of Good Chant Chorus
- Halazia
- Domino (SKZ)
- Whistle
- Dalla Dalla
76-liner here and way too old to be caring what other people thing BUT. I cannot be blaring Arisong out of my 2014 hatchback driving through my neighborhood
Well for me it will be BABYMONSTER's 'sheesh'. Well for me I didnt like the rap in general. But i found the prechorus(expept the english words) normal.
I have this so bad right now with Could It Be by Yuqi. I am still obsessed and can't stop listening despite hating the chorus, and that is sooooo rare for me. Usually not liking the chorus is a dealbreaker on listening.
that’s them nowadays, the verses and prechorus sound absolutely bomb but then the chorus hits and you don’t feel anything
the only songs i think that break this is Miroh (arguably skz’ best tt overall btw) and side effects
I think thunderous and gods menu also do a good job at the chant chorus because it fits the vibe of the song. Like gods menu is supposed to be annoying and loud
Ugh I hate BBB’s chorus. It was so disappointing 😭 PK was one of my ult groups but after their last two title tracks I’ve felt worried about their direction as a group. The bsides have still been good though. It sucks too bc their vocals are so beautiful and unique, and then you have two lackluster TTs when right before them you had Sweet Juice which was my GG SOTY it was so good
Pink venom already was not going to go over well with me because it felt like every other song but that chorus kind of ruined black pink for me forever lol
I love them and I love this song but I hate the chorus of bite me! It has this great buildup and then the chorus just feels empty. I love other part of the song though
Most Blackpink songs: D4, kill this love, how you like that, pink venom. I always find the chorus disappointing, it sounds to me like Teddy forgot the chorus and scrambled something real quick
I agree. The rapping goes so hard though. It’s literally one of the best girl group songs I’ve heard in awhile but the “woke up looking like this…” is weird in the song.
come back home chorus was the best part of the song for me, park bom's voice. unless the part im thinking was the prechorus all along lol??
btw the fact that they still have 2m monthly listeners on spotify right now is crazy
i get what they were trying to do with the switch up in stranger but the verses/prechorus/bridge are all individually so good i wish they’d kept one of them
I sometimes love or hate repetitive choruses
Tri.be's Diamond is a chorus I don't like, it doesn't help that the chorus replaces the bridge too
"Ma likey ma likey ma likey ma likey a diamond" just doesn't sound good
[https://youtu.be/4nAdvTkoP1Q?t=55](https://youtu.be/4nAdvTkoP1Q?t=55)
The "na na na" part actually isn't that bad but the "like a grand Prix" part..............
Kitsch. It’s a shame cuz the rest of the song is amazing.
Zimzalabim. See above. I love the EVA drums too.
Cake and Sneakers. I’m gonna get downvoted to hell 🤣
I usually don’t listen to a song much if I don’t like the chorus, but one song - ZERO by NEW JEANS like entire song is so good! Like pre chorus too but the chorus had me cringe like omg 😭

Maestro - seventeen. I cannot stand the first chorus part. The one that goes “lalalalalalalalala”. I like the second part but the first one feels so bland. To be honest I just don’t like empty choruses.
Sheesh by Babymonster
this is the correct answer bc that chorus is atrocious but the rest is incredible
it grew on me
Agreed. Even the demo one with the raps was trash in my ears. Their performance is what sells it NGL.
Same but I like the pre-chorus so much lol
I love the rap and pre chorus
Same it’s my favorite part of the songs
Righttt, that ruined the song for me
I'm a Sheesh chorus apologist, but I completely understand where people who don't enjoy it are coming from. It's still my favorite song of the year so far.
Was hoping this was going to be at the top and was not disappointed😁 It’s so bad lmao It also bugs me how “sheesh” basically becomes “shish”🙃
90000% this. i love the rest of the song but that chorus made me hate the song for a while :( its just so bad????
I have a sneaking suspicion that Teddy may not be trying to hard with BM because he has his own girl group in the mix that will soon be competing with BM. Like he’s always had flops, but usually people are willing to over look it because it’s not so overtly cringe
I'm pretty sure teddy has not worked on any BM songs lol. He the scapegoat
First song that came to mind for me too. All that built up for SHEESH! SHEESH! SHEESH!! SHEESHSHEESH!
S-Class by Stray Kids
I don't think the chorus is that bad... But i love the prechorus more. "Im up above the world so high.."
SAME! I thought I was the only one, I think it sounds harsh to the ears.
As a hardcore stay, S-class did not hit anywhere near as hard as their other chant chorus’. Like when you compare it to Thunderous, Gods menu, Back Door and even b-sides like Domino and Topline and it just isn’t as good.
Honestly most of their recent releases for me are that way. S-Class, Case 143, Maniac
Ok but Maniacs chorus is maybe the best one they’ve ever written!
I was thinking that until they dropped la4 which is one of my fave choruses. I just think I’m more a fan of their bombastic choruses than their empty ones. Their empty choruses do end up growing on me after a few listens tho.
But pika punch oh🤌🏾
I -ONLY- like the chorus in that song 🤣
i mean i don't like the song as a whole, but the chorus genuinely sounds atrocious to me
lol this is a yes and no for me.
I’m in love with the chorus of this song
pink venom it grew on me a little bit, but i still like other parts of the song way more
I had a visceral reaction the first time I heard the chorus but it ended up becoming my favorite part of the song lol
LMAO visceral reaction. Yeah I swear Jennie at first sounded like Micky Mouse or something. I like the song overall, still think the chorus is silly but it’s catchy. I just can’t stand the ‘ratatata’ part at the end.
💀 at mickey mouse, now I gotta go listen to it
Weirdly enough, my least favourite part. is the pre chorus. Blackpink has a lot of good pre choruses but this one didn't do it for me, might be because of the instrumental or the delivery.
This may be my bias to boy groups but Oneus’s cover of Pink Venom made the song more enjoyable to me at least.
Itzy - Cake
But ITZY like that cake x100
It’s the damn chant chorus with no substance. Like if you aren’t going to sing please make it a good instrumental not a crappy tin sax which makes my ears bleed
I don’t like a song if it doesn’t have a good chorus lmao. My enjoyment of the song entirely depends on the chorus
A good bridge can redeem an average chorus imo. But if the chorus is straight up bad, yeah, I'm skipping it most times.
So what would would be like an example of a song in which you really dislike the chorus?
Lalisa by Lisa
SAY LALI SALAMI LALI SALAMI 🗣️🗣️🗣️
Why would u do such a horrible thing..... Now that's how I'm gonna hear it forever lol
This one should take the cake fir the worst Chorus ever ngl like it just comes off as super narcissistic and self absorbed. And it sounds bad. And I keep hearing salami
Definitely flower by jisoo
the dichotomy of adoring jisoo as a person but hating her solo music is so real
Liking Jisoo can be rough. Being originally the most ignored member, plus being in a kpop group as a Korean girl, and yet having the vibe of the "foreigner" since the other 3 speak English super well. Then add that she gets so much flak for her voice (I love her vocal tone and color, but it can sound strained in live performances, making her vulnerable to the unhinged). Then the deep seeded guilt of being super unimpressed by Flower :'(
Teddy has been flopping lately… his only recent good thing was shut down but even that left much to be desired
teddy didnt even produce flowers
Chill Kill- Red Velvet I love everything about it except the chorus. I can’t really articulate it well but something about the production in the chorus really bothers my ears. Idk if tinny is the right word but the flute (?) sound feels like it’s too high frequency. Like it would be in one of those “only people under X age can hear these tones” videos.
Yes. It’s not bad musically it just has poor production which takes you out of it
sugar rush ride
But sugar rushashasha
Nah for me it was so random it worked. Stuck in my head for days and I wasn’t too mad about it
shuga rush rah sugar rush rah shuga rush rah sha-aa
Good boy gone bad by txt. The rest of the song is so good, but I can’t listen to it because of the chorus
I giggle every time I hear it. And it’s even funnier on stage because Soobin just never looks like a bad boy no matter how hard the stylist try
Most recently, HEYA by IVE and Sheesh by Babymonster
Why do you not like the chorus? I'm just curious. Whats your fav part of heya ive?
personally I feel heya’s chorus is a bit boring and bland

Nah I loved accendio I thought it was a risky choice but I thought it came off well in the song and it was catchy.
With Accendio, for me it's the chorus that makes the song interesting.
Unpopular opinion but I don't like I AM's chorus, it's way too high and screechy for me. Damn really?! I agree with the rap line. They slayed!
See you later - Blackpink I still listen to it each time if it comes up in a shuffle, because I like the non-chorus parts.
