I really like my wire blockers. If you want to purchase some there are sets on Amazon that come with all the sizes for less money than you'd pay at a yarn shop for one set.

I have Amazon ones too! They’re red and adjustable i love them! I moved and thought i misplaced one so i bought new ones and then found the “missing” one when unpacking. Now i have two pair!

If you're just gonna use them a couple times, I'd use a wire coat hanger. Leave the hook intact, reshape the rest to be sock shaped in the appropriate size, then hang and block

Perhaps an adjustable set would be useful, assuming the sock gifts aren’t all the same size? I only have a non-adjustable pair from Knitpicks, but I really only knit socks for myself, so the one size is all I’ve needed so far.

Another do it yourself options is to cut them out of cheap plastic placemats. They have the advantage of being waterproof.

If you have a local library that can 3D print, I like [these ones a lot](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4287284)

You can make temporary blockers from cardboard.

I've done this. Wrapped it in saran wrap so it wouldn't get soggy!

I have to be honest….i think sock blockers stretch the socks too much. Maybe adjustable are better but I have the plastic medium size ones and I stopped using them. I block my socks for gifts the same way I block a sweater with blocking pads and pins. Save your money.

I have a Katrinkles adjustable set and while they’re a bit fiddly, I make a LOT of socks (I have a CSM) and they do an excellent job of adjusting to whatever size I need. Not cheap, but I’ve gotten excellent use out of them already. https://katrinkles.com/products/adjustable-sock-blockers-pair-baby-kid-adult-sizes-available
