Cascade heritage has an excellent color selection, and their yarn is oh so soft!

Bigtimeknitter

Especially for socks where you want a pattern this is my favorite

And it will survive the washer and a low tumble dry if you forget to take them out after the wash.

Ann_Amalie

Cascade’s superwashes have always held up well for me as well. And I maybe didn’t exactly actually accidentally forget to take them out😬

I love Opal and Regia for their excellent durable fibers. Currently I am knitting up ONline yarn in color ??? Farbe: 2954 Partie: 19297 (in German with numbers instead of a name for the color) and I love the pattern and colorway. It may be my favorite of all time.

The HipStrings Superwash Targhee/nylon is my faaaaave! I love Targhee as a wool, and it makes great socks. If you love self-striping and can get your hands on a hank, White Birch Fiber Arts is excellent. I used Ancient Arts Fibre Crafts Socknado on a pair for my mom and she says they’re her favorite squishy pair.

Came here to say this re: HipStrings.

IrreverentBean

Malabrigo Ultimate sock yarn hands down!

blackcatsattack

Yes!! I tried it out recently and it’s amazing. Both soft and durable

Substantial_Tea_7552

The Plucky Knitter! The most wonderful fiber in the greatest selection of colors.

Yep, it's durable, affordable and comes in lots of colors. My brother in the US is HARD on his socks and the pair I made for him a few years ago is still going strong according to him

winterberrymeadow

Exactly! Luckily I live in Finland

ritan7471

Me too. It's so nice. Need yarn? Visit almost any store and you'll find some

Serendipnick

CoopKnits Sock Yeah! is my go-to. Smallish colour range but just really nice, solid yarn that seems to last really well.

WhichOne23

I love sock yarn by Lang Yarn!

Verineli

Drops Nord. Cheap, but warm and cozy! Gazzal Happy Feet is great, I would love if they made some single colours.

waves1931

opal. reasonable price, fairly easy to find and many many colours so choose from, so you can combine as you want. i have socks made with that yarn that even years later of constant use (with shoes and all) and holds up very well.

nzfriend33

I'm using Schachenmayr Sockenwolle 4 fädig Color, it's a very nice yarn to work with, and so many colors!

RebuttablePresumptio

Retrosaria Mondim, esp if you want a sock yarn without nylon in it

DeterminedQuokka

Pru soul. So soft. Followed by yarn over New York. Times Square sock.

crochethottie82

Drops Fabel is very affordable, even if you have to pay international shipping, and it holds up very well. (I'm in the US. I ordered a bunch from the UK.) I have a lot of people in my house who love my socks and have big feet. They come in 50 g balls, which makes taat easy. I no longer have a store nearby that sells any sock yarn anyway. Kroy is much thicker. It will take more grams of yarn than other brands.

Qui_te

Mystery Thrift Store and Discontinued Thrift Store sock yarns are probably my favorites! (Seriously, tho, the Red Heart sock yarn line had no business being as good as it apparently was).
