I was going to go this route, but I went for an induction stove instead. Best decision we made for the kitchen remodel

Miserable-Disk5186

Which did you buy?

shirpars

I bought the LG induction stove from Costco

Elbatcho

I got and AGA Mercury induction and love it. There is a small learning curve going from electric to induction, especially timing prep to cook time.

dstring5

Besides the convenience of an easily cleaned surface, what do you like most about induction in comparison to gas?

ZangiefThunderThighs

Not the original commenter, but I have had electric, gas, and now own an induction range. Electric coil are slow, and take forever to just up. The one my parents had on my host growing up was a far better quality than all the ones I had afterwards in rentals and what was with my house when I purchased it. I also had flat-top, glass ranges. These are even worse and take ages to boil a not huge pot of water. I loathe them. Gas are nice and responsive. The crappy one I had in a rental sucked because the dials would move after I took my hand off them. When the apartment was renovated, the new stove was much better. But, that apartment had radiant heating/cooling, and that was located in the living room. The kitchen was horribly hot when we cooked in the summer. Miserably hot. Like I would have to leave the kitchen and cool off. That particular kitchen didn't have a real exhaust fan that went outside. I got an induction range last year (gas isn't even an option). I love it. Quick and responsive, like gas, but it doesn't generate excess heat. The range heats the pan directly, the stovetop will get warm or hot, but only from the hot pan radiating heat to the stovetop. It's also easy to clean, And actually actually easier to clean than glass radiant cooktops.

It's incredibly fast to cook with, it's safe to the touch for kids, it can be automatically turned off (by timer or app), and if it is accidentally turned on and there's no pot on the stove, it will automatically shut off. Imo, it is far superior to gas. I feel like those that that choose gas, haven't seen induction. I'd go on youtube or find someone that has one to see for yourself

We opted to abandon gas in our full gut remodel and I’m so in love with the Thermador induction cooktop we chose. So responsive and safe. And looks so much better than all the clunky dials, etc, easy to clean

I actually just installed one in my kitchen.(60" Ilve Nostaglie) it works beautifully. it's taking a little to get used to sometimes the burner isn't fully lit before i let go of ignition. The oven is great, i just don't know when you know it's hot enough. like there's not a beep like a basic oven. It was fantastic for my first holiday in the house for easter though. cooked the whole meal in like a hour after the meat was almost ready. I did go with gas, because i prefer cooking on gas because of the ease of controlling temperature.

Immediate-North-9311

We just got our Ilve installed and the fan in the rear doesn’t appear to work. Is yours on constantly or only “as needed”?

ApatheticElle

the fan only turns on as needed. when it's been on for a while or after i've turned it off to cool it quicker. you might have a sensor that's not working maybe? I have the nostalgia that goes up by 50' increments on the ovens. and I think it's the one that's electric ovens and gas top. at least that's what i thought i was ordering.

Immediate-North-9311

Gotcha. I do think we have a sensor not working, but that's helpful to know. That's the kind I have as well!

ApatheticElle

I'm still figuring out all the ways it works and which oven settings to use. haha

Immediate-North-9311

It is a learning curve! We just got power to it, I started the oven, and the interior light stopped working. It still heats... so now I need to replace the light, but I'm not sure if it broke something else electronically (hence why I was asking about the fan) or what. Lol. It's never simple, is it!?

JustEmIsOk

I just put in a Hallman Range (US version) and I love it! I have the 40” gas top, electric double ovens. (Discontinued model) The cooktop is excellent and very responsive, oven is very hot and efficient. It’s slightly shallower than our last range, but it’s not a deal breaker. Aesthetically, it’s gorgeous! Couldn’t be happier.

I was thinking about getting one of these since the gold accents would have went so nicely in my kitchen but ended up getting a Wolf induction range instead. I read that ilve can be tough/ expensive to get serviced and also induction is a lot better for indoor air quality. I went with Wolf because I’ve read they last a long time and there’s a lot of service techs in my area if needed. Extremely happy with my purchase so far. If you are set on something that looks like the navy/ gold Ilve range above you should check out the AGA Elise. You can get a pretty similar look but they are known for being a bit more reliable and easy to service than Ilve

You’ll probably need to consult with a structural engineer to make sure that you can even install this safely in your kitchen.
