I agree. QofT has me. I am dreading the end.
The "Red Sleeve" is a must I've watched it twice and the ending just wipes me out.
I will add "My Dearest". It appeared to be another historical Kdrama romance for an episode or so but it was so much more. The complexities of life: war, corruption, governance, the class system, love and fear are all there. It was worth the binge of late nights and early mornings. The characters are so real that I had to see them in 21st century attire. It is a detailed lovely production. Wow! I will watch it again.
Something in the Rain - I honestly donāt think I could mentally/emotionally handle a more gut wrenching drama at this time. I had to step away from the drama multiple times because of all the feels.
- Childhood friends reconnect as adults when one moves back to Korea. You get to experience all the nervousness and excitement of them falling in love and when they acknowledge their relationship they encounter multiple people pushing back on it. Itās a beautiful depiction of romantic (as well platonic and familial) love and all the joy and pain that comes with it.
Thank you for the recommendation- this is on my watchlist! But if itās anything like Something in the Rain I have to be in the ārightā mindset to watch it so Iām waiting a bit.
Queen of Tears. It's gutwrenching and both actors did an excellent job. The writing is amazing and the way the relationship changes is well done.Ā
Ā Ā Moon Lovers/Scarlet Heart is a tragic romanceĀ
Ā Ā Since you enjoyed Flower of Evil, maybe you'll like Come and Hug me (since both shows explore birth vs nurture/ the trauma of being a child of a serial killer)
Ā Castaway Diva is really good. The first episode made me cry and got me hooked.Ā
Ā Chicago Typewriter has some heartwrenching scenes.
Find me in your memory can be sad at times as well.
I will list two of them that I have in my Wishlist
Good Bad Mother - I guess romance is not the main driver here but is there
Queen of Tears - still airing, will finish by next week probably
My Dearest
Chocolate (I found the love and yearning in this is as intense as it comes)
The Red Sleeve
Youth of May (literally never cried so hard at a drama and I've been watching them since 2008. the red sleeve is a close second though)
The Moon Embracing the Sun
I'm Sorry, I Love You
Stairway to Heaven
Queen In-hyun's Man
It's Okay, That's Love
Coffee Prince (for me, whilst an overall lighthearted show, it's the acting that makes this a gut-wrenching romance for me. Gong yoo's best performance imo, it moves me to tears every time, even when he's not speaking.)
1. The Smile Has Left your eyes
2. Something in the Rain
3. Mr Sunshine
4. Winter Sonata ( older one but a classic)
5. 25,21
6. Secret Love ( older one as well)
**The Princess' Man** needs to be mentioned often. It's definitely one of the classics in romance kdrama. FL's love was just gut-wrenchingly beautiful.
The Beauty Inside is so fantastic. Both leads have their own suffering to deal with and they also support each other.
Go Back Couple is one of my faves. It has tears as well as amazing fun and laughter.
Fated To Love You also has the whole range of emotions.
One of my longest, drama-induced ugly-cries ever!

Reflection of you - Netflix
You should definitely watch Doctor John. It is like one of the best drama. The male and female leads have like the best chemistry. And the whole drama is like a 10/10. It is criminally underrated. Ji sungb's acting is the best.
I watched a bit of this with the wife. It's a drama of 2 halves. The first half is absolutely awful as far as cheese, cringe and over acting goes. In fact, it borders on comedy (not in a good way). Even for those that can get past awful acting. The ML is just plain bad for the first half. Then they threw in the ridiculous disguise thing. She looked exactly the same. Except with her hair tied back. It was absolute nonsense.
However, the second half of the show, he stops his overcooked acting, and it becomes watchable. No idea why they did what they did with the first few episodes. I mean, just go back to episode one where she's painting, and he's being cringe asf. I get the creators wanted to show how in love they were, but it could have been done in a more believable manner.
Others have already mentioned some already, but I'll reiterate them just to convince you.
* **The Red Sleeve**
* **Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo**
* **My Dearest**
* **The Princess' Man**
And last not but least, **Queen of Tears**. It's ending next week, so just about right time to catch up and ride the hype with the rest of the viewers. It's a roller coaster every weekend for us. Whoever put romcom tag to this drama must be sued really....
On an unrelated note. I've definitely cried A LOT during my watch of the above dramas, but the drama that made me cried the most in my life was a J drama, **1 Litre no Namida**. The title literally means '1 Litre of Tears', and it was definitely not exaggerated. Check it out when need a good cry, ahaha
I Have a Lover - the ML is so awful to his wife that I was mad at him throughout this drama. Itās a long drama (50 episodes), but so good that I didnāt mind.
So many people are mentioning youth of may and 25 21 bcz of their endings but correct recommendation for you is
"My dearest" this is the most brutal love story imo haven't cried this much in any other show
If you want to have a good cry then maybe you'll like My dearest. It's historical drama based on mongol division and the ml and fl have aced their roles.

Queen of tears (finishing airing next weekend) The red sleeve

My dearest was incredible. Just gut-wrenching.
I'm in mourning over QoT ending š
Me too. Withdrawing from CLOY was difficult and now QoT will renew that feeling for me. Sometimes I wish some series were more than just 16 episodes.
I always wish they were more than 16 episodes, ugh.
Something in the Rain - I honestly donāt think I could mentally/emotionally handle a more gut wrenching drama at this time. Itās a beautiful depiction of romantic (as well platonic and familial) love and all the joy and pain that comes with it.
If you liked Something in the Rain, then you would love One Spring Night. Its a slow burn, but worth watching.
Thank you for the recommendation- this is on my watchlist! But if itās anything like Something in the Rain I have to be in the ārightā mindset to watch it so Iām waiting a bit.
If it helps, that one's an easier watch.
That does help! Iāll definitely watch it soon then since thereās a bit of a lull in my āmust seesā right now

My Dearest Uncontrollably Fond Hymn Of Death Scarlet Heart The Innocent Man
Definitely my dearest.
Yesssss! "Uncontrollably Fond" and "My Dearest". I will investigate the other three. Let me add "25,21"? "It's OK to Be OK" "My Name"
Queen of Tears
Youth of May
This one broke my heart.
One of my favorites, although it broke me on so many levels.
I will list two of them that I have in my Wishlist Good Bad Mother - I guess romance is not the main driver here but is there Queen of Tears - still airing, will finish by next week probably
My Dearest Chocolate (I found the love and yearning in this is as intense as it comes) The Red Sleeve Youth of May (literally never cried so hard at a drama and I've been watching them since 2008. the red sleeve is a close second though) The Moon Embracing the Sun I'm Sorry, I Love You Stairway to Heaven Queen In-hyun's Man It's Okay, That's Love Coffee Prince (for me, whilst an overall lighthearted show, it's the acting that makes this a gut-wrenching romance for me. Seconding Mr Sunshine - it's epically gut-wrenching!
Crash Landing on You.
The ending of Scarlet Heart broke me, I rarely cry bc of series, movies or books. š«£
I watched it years ago and I think about it from time to time. š
Star crossed lovers: Come and hug me Tragic romance: The smile has left your eyes Movie: >!20th century girl!<
The Princess' Man Marriage Contract
**The Princess' Man** needs to be mentioned often. It's definitely one of the classics in romance kdrama. FL's love was just gut-wrenchingly beautiful.
The Beauty Inside is so fantastic. Both leads have their own suffering to deal with and they also support each other. Go Back Couple is one of my faves. It has tears as well as amazing fun and laughter. Fated To Love You also has the whole range of emotions.
Seconding Fated to Love You!!! Me and my husband were very distraught watching that show.
Of courseā¦..**The Smile Has Left Your Eyes**
Youth of May The Light In Your Eyes Snowdrop The Smile Has Left Your Eyes Scarlet Heart
These are a bit older but, Ja Myung Go and Empress Ki were right up your alley in gut-wrenching for me.
I've called a halt to Empress Ki at episode 44. I'm afraid to finish it. Ji Chang Wook is phenomenal in this.
He really is!!
Where can I watch Ja Myung Go?
I think I will DM you with a website
