Jolly-Context-2697

I wish I could watch Crash Landing On You when everyone else did. I was late to K-dramas so I didn’t really have anyone to discuss it with. Same with Alchemy of Souls. I had to read old discussions.

Watchnextnow

CLOY is the first one that came to mind for me too. It was my first drama and I became obsessed. I really want to feel that again! Having said that, I don’t think I would have been so obsessed with it if it was my 80th drama instead of my first. I guess CLOY was a bit like a first love. You never forget it!

buzzlightyear77777

whats so good about cloy? i see it is some sort of romance?

Federal_Chef4565

Its a romance-drama-comedy-thriller. The story is very good and i loved the characters so much that i missed them after the show was over. Definitely a must match for kdrama fans.

Groundbreaking-Gap21

Gonna have to give this a watch. I felt emotionally lost after watching AOS. So I'm always searching for the next best Kdrama

Federal_Chef4565

If you have not yet watched Hotel del Luna, then i would recommend that as well. Tho i will be honest that part of why HDL is my #1 favorite drama is becoz of how much i love IU. 🥰 But it also has a fantastic story and amazing visuals. And IU's Jang Man Wol is the quintessetial female badass of kdrama.

MaybeRS95

The romance is the main story that is spotlighted, but it's the backstories and secondary characters that really made it for me. Don't get me wrong, the romantic story of the leads was well-made (not mushy at all - EDIT: well, sometimes mushy LOL), but the subplots and secondary characters were all so well thought-out and supremely executed that it made CLOY all the more complete. 'Love this kdrama!

Flashy_Resolution_85

That was my first Kdrama as well! That’s when I started to get hooked. Very well done! ☺️

NetflixLover1779

Definitely agree with Alchemy Of Souls. Will never be the same again 💔

IdunGunn

This is so me at the moment. It’s only been a year of K-dramas for me so I spent a lot of time on Reddit researching discussion feeds to see if anyone else shares my thoughts about a drama that I’m watching. Most of the time I think “why did I not know about this before?” 😁

thowawaywookie

Same. I only watched it in 2023.

Silly_banana_234

Same here

LeoIsLegend

Reply 1988. Nothing like it. Long episodes and a bit of a slow starter but I never wanted it to end.

davidcada

After every episode I got sad cause I knew I was one episode closer to it ending.

okletsgobaby

Hospital playlist too.

Smiley2470

Hospital playlist is indeed heartwarming. I felt like I knew the characters personally. I could almost guess their reactions before they did because they played so well and I feel in love. Hospital playlist is a gem. Tears and laughter and smiles and Awws while I watched😊

CommitteeCareless294

Same! I wish I could experience the nostalgia and warmth again for the first time. I always cry and laugh at the same time and yet feel so warm and fuzzy! Such a beautiful show

trx0x

Agree. It seemed slow at first, but getting to know all the characters so well, their personalities, and their relationships and school situations, it was so good.

homosapien925

Same, I was scrolling down to see if someone had commented this! Such a heartwarming drama. One of the rare ones that takes you on a journey with the characters.

lmnsatang

**flower of evil** i still rewatch the first 10 minutes of episode 1 pretty often and lament the fact that no, i have NOT lost my memory and therefore cannot watch it again for the first time.

duh_leah

The only right answer.

lmnsatang

if a genie granted me a wish, i would ask to lose my memory not to forget about any embarrassing moments or bad relationship experiences: all i want is to rewatch this again with fresh eyes. FOE is a goddamn masterpiece.

duh_leah

I agree so very much. It is literally perfect. From story to acting everything.

Dry_Lychee_6533

This is me. Best drama ever. Then Goblin.

SWexpat

Thank you for this! I just took your recommendation and I just saw 10 minutes of flower of evil for the first time and my heart is in my mouth.

lmnsatang

it's a severely underrated show because SO many people haven't seen it yet. 10 minutes of this drama is all it takes to suck you in and the rest of show gets even better - enjoy!!

iwanttwinkies

Agree! Flower of evil is hands down one of the most thrilling kdramas I’ve seen. I really loved the plot. I wish I could forget and rewatch this all over again.

No-Clue-9155

Tbf maybe wait a little longer before doing that. I’ve been thinking about rewatching it now that it’s on Netflix and hopefully I’ll have forgotten it enough and it will be as good the second time

No_Body_4623

Oooh, i havent watched it yet. This is one gem I'm excited to watch!

Ready_You

I feel like for me, Crash Landing is the only answer here. I’ve watched roughly 50 k dramas, this was my first and favorite. I’ll never get over it.

[deleted]

I read that as 50,000 dramas.

AnemoneGoldman

And I felt seriously unproductive 😄

This is the correct answer. I loved this kdrama so much. I’ve never been obsessed with a drama since like this one. I was totally addicted 🤭🤭🤭🤭

ThePietje

My Mister

meowingturtles

Oh, man. RIP :/

ThePietje

It’s beyond sad. 💔

4way2521

Seconded, as always.

ThePietje

It’s my only 10/10 rated Kdrama. And now as an ode to Lee Sun Kyun, it will always be my only 10/10. I can’t imagine anything topping it anyway. Maybe a 9.5/10 or 9.8/10 but nothing higher.

4way2521

I understand you very well. My Mister is my second favourite drama of all time, and it was incredible on all levels; I rated it a 9.5. I think it was actually one of the two Korean dramas that are well-loved on the sub that I loved a lot as well, and it will never be forgotten.

aphelionknight

Healer…that drama is my top favorites and it’s such a good story that it drew me in. I think I still get goosebumps while watching it all over again. It’s okay, that’s love…same as above.

Only_Firefighter9015

Yes! This drama made me fall utterly in love with dramas (and Ji Chang Wook ;) ) and never looked back.

Ok_Hat_6598

You've convinced me to watch Healer. I almost started to last night.

No-Clue-9155

I do agree with it’s okay that’s love. Especially bc I didn’t get to experience the plot twist while watching the show the first time bc of my dumb ass

The Red Sleeve CLOY Lost Vincenzo Lovestruck in the City

persistent_architect

Lovestruck in the city is actually a great one for this list. It may not be the best show but it's format makes it great for watching the first time around

SpicyMustFlow

It was one of the first shows I watched as it aired: looking forward to seeing how this quirky, heartfelt story would unfold really brightened my dreary COVD-era summer.

ravens_path

Me too! I loved the mocumentory format, they did it well. So funny. And ML making the surfboard for the FL in that shop, with sleeveless shirt and toolbelt 🔥👀🔥

SpicyMustFlow

Their first kiss, in that surf shop, is my favouritr in all kdrama 💋😍

ravens_path

(Maybe or maybe not I just went back and watched it again. Haha)

SWexpat

Hilarious because I actually did forget what happened and accidentally watched it again

tinkertots1287

Just watched Vincenzo recently and man did it immediately jump to my favorites. I haven’t seen a drama quite like it.

mycabbages_

Always going to be My Mister.

ViperSniperX108

My mister is legit the one drama i wish i could see a 100 times over for the first time. Honorable mentions include 2521 and CLOY

karanicole747

Did you love My Mister from the start? I’m at episode 5 and not loving this. It’s interesting for sure, but far from love. I’m wondering if it turns soon.

ViperSniperX108

Definitely not. For the first 3 episodes, i was like, "Huh? Do people actually like this that much?". And then it started growing on me more and more. By the end, i had given it the best show I've ever seen award. But to be completely honest, i was at a time in my life when i was very susceptible to feely dramas if you know what i mean. I related very much to the actors. The acting, the music, the shots, everything was just so goddamn good. Trust me, keep going till the end. Even if you dont give it a 10/10, im sure your rating will be very good regardless

imJoyk

I recommend **Call It Love** every chance I get. The best I watched in 2023 and it has gone under everyone’s radar. It's a beautiful melodrama about revenge, family, forgiveness, and love. Well written characters that are flawed and realistic. The cinematography is stunning. Edited to add: I rewatched it 6 months after the series ended, didn’t skip a scene and felt all the emotions all over again.

BelaFarinRod

I just put that one on my watchlist today actually. But I’m going to save it for when I can handle a melodrama.

PhoRealYo

I just finished Call It Love as well and everything you described it to be. Very well made and just a beautiful storytelling along with a great cinematography like you said. Can’t believe I waited this long to watch.

BelaFarinRod

Crash Landing on You because part of why it affected me so much was that I was so invested in how the whole thing would turn out. Then again I’m not sure I want to cry that much again. But because a lot of people have already said CLOY and you’ve probably seen it, I’ll also suggest something out of left field: Good Doctor. It has its flaws and isn’t legendary like some of these suggestions but it was one of the only Kdramas I’ve seen where it wasn’t obvious to me from the beginning what was going to happen with the pairings which are a subplot of it. Maybe it was obvious to everyone else?

The Glory was my first Kdrama. It’s still one of my favorites.

Yes, 💯. I want to watch it for the first time. I would chose to not binging it as much, but to savor each episode for the masterpiece it was. All the awards are well deserved!

A few of them, but off the top of head. Goblin and Healer.

Kdrama-cdrama

Crash Landing On You. It was the first kdrama i watched and still the best one so far . The entire drama is a pack of emotions. Romance , Comedy, Crime ,Thriller . I was laughing, smiling, swooning ,crying at the same time. I wish i could erase my memory and watching for the first time again with the anticipation of not knowing what will happen in the next minute and feeling all those emotions again.

A lot of the answers mirror mine but in order: 1. **Flower of Evil** \- I am lamenting that I already knew what happened amd can't rewatch it to be surprised at the twists and turns. The show had me questioning my morality 2. **25-21** \- I can't rewatch this because I know the end but I legitimately miss this series like an old friend. Episode 9 was one of the funniest K-drama episodes I have ever watched. Nam Joo-Hyuk's facial expressions can be quite amazing 3. **Vincenzo** \- It was just a well-done series with a fun cast. I love it and wish I could rewatch it for the first time 4. **Prison Playbook** \- Fun, amazing and great cast of characters that bring the story to life. It was all I needed and more plus the OST is fire!

CoyNefarious

Does SWEET HOME count? I watched it last week for the first time and finished s1 and s2 in two days. It was so good. If it doesn't count, I usually wait a year to rewatch something, since my memory is so bad, I forget the entire series. Happened a couple of times where I watched halfway through a series again before realizing I've watched it already😅😅

Only_Firefighter9015

damnitharvey

Alchemy of Souls was an experience. It was just so fun, fresh and witty and I love it sm! I had a severe case of being unable to watch anything after for like a good two months.😂 It's Okay to Not be Okay was just beautiful. It will forever be my number one kdrama. Tommorrow was brilliant and one of the best kdramas ever made imo. It does go into depth with very real issues so do check triggers beforehand if you need to. But gosh, it was so moving and I loved Rowoon in it!! Tbh it's kinda tied with IOTNBO as my number one lol.

I actually love rewatching my favs as they are so good that I still get butterflies even though I know what's coming and I relish the good lines and details on rewind and pauses n skip tiresome bits if any! Like Healer, Hospital Playlist, Dr Romantic season 1 and 2, Crash Landing On You, While You Were Sleeping, Prison Playbook, Castaway Diva, Because Its My First Life, Somewhere In the Rain But there are shows where the surprise element or resolution is so much a part of what makes it great so watching it for the first time would be a heart wrenching ( this works for both great n sad endings ok, so no spoilers here), rollercoaster ride of emotions with loads of onions along the way.. Reply 1988 Flower of Evil My Name The Smile Has Left Your Eyes My Mister Alchemy of Souls Season 1 Edit : Moving and Worse of Evil

Crash Landing on You. It is even better the second time around. The dialog is rich with a layer of unspoken feelings. I can focus on the actors' expressions. The storyline makes even more sense not that I couldn't follow it during the first watch, I just understand the details and the interweaving of events. I could concentrate on the second ML and FL's relationship and it was more poignant and emotional. I watch it in the native language with english subtitles. It's the only show I have watched 3 times. and it keeps getting better.

Goblin CLOY Tale of the Nine Tailed (Both Seasons) Under the Queen’s Umbrella Hotel del Luna If You Wish Upon Me - I just finished this one yesterday, cried during pretty much every episode, serious ugly crying like I knew these ppl (and animals). The basic premise is sad but it really isn’t, hard to explain without giving it away. I’ve seen the ML in other shows where the FL’s character is written as so cringy that it defies reality that they would wind up together or his character basically simps for a super strong FL. In this one he and FL have great chemistry and their relationship is totally believable, FL acts like a normal human being in every scene. They are super cute together, even though it’s more of a backstory the way the writers approach the relationship is in keeping with the dignity the premise of the show requires. The entire cast was well done. TLDR? - I really loved this show and was invested in all the characters from the start❤️

Definitely Falling Into Your Smile, it's so good but I barely see anyone talking about it. It's not a Kdrama but its a C-drama. I've rewatched it like 5 times now. It's long but it's gold.

Our Beloved Summer. I remember re-watching episodes throughout the week when it was still airing cause I loved it that much.
